Today is the last day that J.Crew is offering customers 30% off any purchase from their Summer Sale {no minimum} and free shipping (over $150 *after* discounts applied) with promo code SHOPNOW.
From the comments, it seems like this was just the promotion needed to buy those end-of-Summer must haves. Especially as we are moving quickly to the Fall collection. :)
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion today? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting?
I am sorry to be the first commenter and to be so completely off-topic, but is there an Anthro blog that has a sale post like the one on JCA? I'm DYING for a top I missed earlier this summer. Not even ebay has it...
ReplyDeleteThank you!
@mmd: try this
ReplyDeletehttp://effortlessanthropologie.blogspot.com/2010/08/trade-market-looking-to-selltrade_16.html
good luck!
Thanks so much, Closet Crisis! Just what I was looking for. Now keeping my fingers crossed someone out there in Anthropologie-land has what I want!!
ReplyDeleteUnless there's some massive restock of the FS section, I think I'm done with this round. It's interesting that a few items that I've picked (which I thought would transition well into fall) are lingering, in lots of sizes and colours. Am I the only one who likes cardi's/shirts and was drunk on crewlade? :P
ReplyDeleteSo, me again...
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on the fit of the Palisade cardigan (25855)?
And I haven't been near the crewlade in a month, but almost everything in the sale section was languishing there a month ago too....
Like you Closet Crisis, unless there's a massive restock or new markdowns I'm done with this promo. I would like to see further markdowns on this last day but I doubt it... JC, you always play this game...
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that since the big Wednesday sale items (or just popbacks) addition didn't happen this morning, it will happen tonight. Which hopefully will mean I'll be able to get a few fall things I've waiting on just in time for this discount. And since they frequently add new arrivals on Thursday mornings, it looks like I'll be staying up tonight to see them...
ReplyDeletemommydearest - The palisade is jcrew.com only, which may explain no reviews.
ReplyDeleteNew arrivals are online, fyi.
did the fall new arrival just roll out online? i'm having so much fun with the lookbook! :D
ReplyDeleteGot my first J Crew cancellation email on a necklace I ordered online on Saturday (during the day!). They didn't even offer me free shipping on the other necklace for the inconvenience. Way to do business.
ReplyDeleteSeptember catalog is up online! Yessss.
ReplyDeleteHi mommydearest - the Palisade cardigan is cute, but super thin... definitely a summer cardigan. Arms are tight (which seems to be a JC themse lately), but the belt is cute and flattering. I'd say it's TTS.
ReplyDeleteI placed an order early, early (5am?) on the first day of the sale but yesterday got the dreaded phone call and e-mail that the Impressionist pencil skirt was not shipping due to an "inventory discrepancy". I called CS and at first they were going to ship me a 2 (I ordered a 0) but by the time the CS SA tried to order it, the two 2's were gone! She had planned to override the "no return" policy for FS in case I could not make it work or decided I dd not want to have it altered. When this plan failed, she then offered to find a "similar" skirt. I thought this was a nice gesture but I wondered if she really knew JC's stock as there is nothing remotely like this print out there....and there wasn't .
ReplyDeleteMain thing I can do now is try the Weekly Exchange or eBay or a popback!
Oh well. This is the first time this has happened to me!
And this morning , the items I had in my shopping cart (trying to decide if I want to place another sale order) were all gone and I can'tget a couple of things to "load". Not sure if it's a website issue or if the item is selling out! Will call CS (again!).
I'm still thinking about the Alecias, but can't pull the trigger. Does anyone have them?
ReplyDeleteCan someone link me to the September catalog? It's not showing up on the site for me.
ReplyDeleteHi Tracey - it's not showing for me, either... although it was there an hour ago!
ReplyDeletewell, stuff is definitely moving out. last night the sale section was down to 600+ items from over 1,000 when this sale first started.
ReplyDeletein my continued quest for epic final-sale-whore status, i only got one bummer from final sale this time around. the petal stream tank in Apricot Mist is not at ALL what it looks like online. it's much more monochromatic IRL. online it looks almost like it's ivory with a contrasting ruffle and trim. i am very disappointed and am wondering whether i'd have any chance of returning it or exchanging itfor another color, because produc misrepresentation is not my fault, it's theirs! thoughts?
i love everything else. i got another pair of the superfine cotton cropped pants (beechwood), which i'd bought in a B&M earlier this summer (gray) but I didn't know what they were, I just knew I loved them. so happy to have those in 2 colors now.
also a Hyacinth Jackie -- the only Jackie I've ever bought retail, the tissue three roses tank and the linen cotton ruffle tank, both in pale buff. i love both colors on me, so yay.
also got my husband 3 of the vintage slub polos and he squealed like a little kid when he got home last night from a VERY long day at work, so that was fun. he's been looking quite natty in his new Crew gear, which he's wearing daily now. hee hee. he doesn't know i put his dreadful short-sleeved dress shirts at the bottom of the Goodwill bag.

ReplyDeleteHow do those pants fit? I never noticed them before. Very cute!
FS looks tired, having fun imagining self in some of the new items, and will probably go try a few things on. That said, copywriting has not improved. The BonBon dress has reappeared in the Wear to Work section (WTF?), and the Houndstooth Bomber (which looks kinda cute) is described as having a "short collar." I looked as closely as computer would let me, and I think I would have called it "collarless". And finally, check out the copy on item 28948, the Paillette Mirage Tweed Mini. You can''t make this stuff up.
ReplyDeleteHee hee! Fred, check out the copy on the cashmere cocoon popover. I think that has the most parenthesis I've ever seen from JC.
ReplyDeleteFor those of you not seeing the catalog, try this link.
ReplyDeleteLizzy, I'd never have noticed them either had I not chanced upon a pair last time I was in Philly! I take an 8 in them, which is VERY unusual. The only other things I can wear an 8 in are *some* pencil skirts (and even then they pull a bit across the front) and maybe one or two pair of shorts. Everything else I pretty much take a 10.
ReplyDeleteI think these fit because they're cut just a slight bit fuller through the hip/thigh. They're a dressy pant, almost like suiting material, and they have a drapey feel to the fabric as opposed to stiffer, chino-like fabric.
They do have a rather pronounced fold right down the center of the front of each leg. I'm thinking that will relax a bit over time....?
Also want to mention that several items I've gotten from online orders recently have been customer returns -- I only know because the pricetags have had the bottom snipped off the way I do when I give someone a gift. No issues, though. No dirty tissues in pockets, etc. (LOL)
Still just can't think about Fall yet. I have so many lovely wool and velvet jackets and skirts and dresses that I can't wait to wear, but it will be October for sure before any of it sees the light of day!
I went to my B&M the other day to try on stuff so that I knew what size I'd need before I ordered FS, but doing so made me change my mind on all the items I had wanted (maybe it was the awful fluorescent lighting?). So I went to Anthro and bought a beautiful dress. By the way, at least at my B&M, the Anthro sale is huge - and not final!
ReplyDeletetxmom, the pencil impressionist skirt is available in size 0 and 2 right now...
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on the denim Minnies? I had the 12's in my cart and now they're gone. I'm wondering if they stretch out a bit so maybe I could swing the 10? Or is there no stretch? I have the black Minnies and they stretch a bit, but probably not enough that I could size down. I'm really bummed my size is gone.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if I called their 1-800 #, do you think maybe they'd miraculously have a hidden size 12 "in the back" that isn't showing up online?
ReplyDeleteIt could very well be a glitch, but when I looked at the website about an hour ago there were 660 women's sale items and now it says 1061. I tend to think J. Crew is just playing mind games with me though.
ReplyDeleteAlso, can anyone comment on the fit of the denim minnies with the zip ankles? I'm 5'6 so I'm wondering if they'd hit at the ankle. Thanks!
One of the things that may or may not have popped back is the double-cloth lady day coat in some smashing colors for $99. There are mostly larger sizes so it won't work for me, but what a fantastic deal (assuming that it is in stock and doesn't get mysteriously cancelled from your order)!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, there has been an update since this morning. MANY of the new arrivals to the sale are Collection items. Interesting! I did get a few ghost pages, though, so get in there if there's anything you want...
ReplyDeletePretty disappointing update. I wanted the chino bubble skirt in an M--every time I'd tried to add it to my cart it either wouldn't work or sold before check out. I was hoping for more things to be added to the sale and doubt I'll get anything now. I was also holding out for the paisley bubble skirt in an M and that never reappeared in my size.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the cocktail bracelet with the pearls that I bought at 20% off full price after waiting for it to be reduced for over a year is back in the sale at $69 plus the 30% discount. I guess you can't win them all.
Michelle, thanks, I saw it and placed an order. We'll see what happends!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for the "subscribe to post" feature! I placed an order this morning but just looked again and was able to snag a couple of slim stretch shirts ($29.99) and a pastel petal perfect shirt ($19.99) too. Hard to beat those prices at 30% off!
ReplyDeletetxmom, good luck! It is a beautiful skirt.
Jruby18, I would say the denim minnies pant is TTS with a hint of stretch. It is pretty tight though, so I wouldn't recommend you to size down.
ReplyDeletethanks Flyaway. That's pretty much what I figured. I was just hoping... I called JCrew and they have no hidden size 12's tucked away in a corner, so I guess I'm SOL. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteSIZING: Can anyone comment on the Pilar Paisley Cami?
ReplyDeleteI have never tried any of their cami's like this one.
My Switzel Swiss dot cami is quite boxy and a bit big in size 2. Is the pilar cami this way? Final sale makes me nervous! lol My measurements fit a size 0 but I'm nervous to order 0, heven't done that in years! I'm usually a 2. I know J.crew has their vanity sizing though.
Please any help is appreciated!
p.s. If you didn't notice I'm fairly new to J.crew. I don't get a chance to try things on in store much bc my nearest store is 40 min away.
@meghan: I normally wear a size 4 in perfect shirts but I can wear a size 2 in Pilar paisley cami better. I would say get a smaller size if you're in between. HTH!
ReplyDeleteI tried to load some pop backs on my cart but it wouldn't so I guess someone got to them before me.
Thanks, Elaine. Maybe I'll try them! Always searching for flattering pants!
ReplyDeleteOT, but today I received the Talbots' catalog. Although I've never really shopped there, they have some really cute stuff for Fall. AND the catalog has a 20% off any purchase and $5 shipping.
ReplyDeleteI ordered the double cloth lady day coat in bright hydrangea. Not only did I buy a winter coat in August, but I also bought it at FS without trying it on! I hope it works!
ReplyDeleteI was thisclose to getting the Spritzer stripe satchel, but I held back. Now I'm wishing that I did!
Anyone know if JC will do a "one-time courtesy" for a FS return? I just received the silk cardigan in natural and holy cow, the fit is absolutely comical. It's HUGE! I don't know how the model is wearing it in the item photo. I got an XS and it seriously looks like an XL.
ReplyDeleteFawn, what a great deal. Do you remember which sizes were available for the coat? I keep clicking on the photograph, but the page isn't loading. Thanks!
ReplyDelete@Janice
ReplyDeleteI think it was some fluke. I've tried to go back to it too and I can't. I hope that JC honors the price for the coat since my order went through.
I went totally nuts with ordering coats at the very beginning of the sale. I ordered two lady day coats, one in dark poppy and one in bright hydrangea, a stadium cloth Friday coat in ivory, a Crosby coat in black, a wool ruffle front coat in camel and a sherpa puffer jacket in spiced wine. And I have a plaza and a boulevard trench on back order. Yes, I really did order all of those coats! I used my American Express card so I can use my "return protection" if I want to return them, or I could easily sell them on ebay for more than I paid, but they're all adorable so I may actually keep them all since I found plenty of room in my coat closet. Crazy but true.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Gigi and silver_lining. Just couldn't muster up the energy to waste money on shipping or a cardi I might not like
ReplyDeleteOrdered the lovely chrome green tweed ballet flats. It was between that and one of the Sophia silk tricotine dresses, but I didn't like the colors and for final sales, I prefer to stick to a sure thing. Shoes will fit.
