This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!
dropped by the b&m today, not much going on in the sale section- a variety of ruffled cardigans (cotton, wool, mix media) on sale in all sizes/colors as well as some jackies in the nice bright summer shades- picked up one of these and some cute belts
ReplyDeletetalked myself into getting the sequined bell skirt (love!!) and the marled thandie jacket to go with it... great tweed-like material, as good dressed down as it is dressed up as a suiting separate. Hated buying something just to wear it with something else, but overall happy with the purchases
saw some other cute elastic-waist skirts (please keep these coming, j crew!), some of the new leather flats are pretty darned cute too... bad for the wallet, good for the soul :)

ReplyDeleteAlexis,
ReplyDeleteThank so much for the comment, I'm coming back to the blog like a bad penny!
I just wanted to thank you and all the amazing J Crew aficionadas who have welcomed me so warmly into the fold even though I'm 3500 miles from the nearest store and can barely afford the shipping and taxes!
Subscribing. :)

ReplyDeleteNo time for JC today, had to pick up lobsters for weekend company! Except somehow on way to Lobster Guy, car forgot and took me to JC! Oooh, must be fate. When back in car had 4 Jackies, bunch of tees (maybe my luck will change), and an irresistible sequin skirt! Oops, but since cards were wonky, had to use cash that was meant for Lobster Guy. Um. Will tell guests we are now vegan locavores and serve scrambled eggs from nearby supermarket. No. Will tell them I thought they were kosher. No. Will wear 3 or 4 layered Jackies & tees over new sparkly skirt and will look so perky and whimsically eclectic that they won't notice the food! Most people eat too much anyway. And maybe there will be a suitcase-shaped UFO at the door to take everyone's mind off the mundane. And if there's fruit I won't need to make dessert and can make productive use of time by putting sparkly objects in hair.
ReplyDelete(Later) No fruit, no luggage. Sequins got in scrambled eggs. Guys drank too much on empty tummies. Bad start to weekend and it's only Friday. Man in My Life says the Bright spot is that the broker will be available so he can short the *** out of JCrew, and will tell broker about the Pathetic Luggage Fantasy.
Note to blog-following interns: that is a dangerous term from the big grown-up world of Finance and you should probably mention it to the CFO (if JCrew has one). Meanwhile I have to figure out breakfast since we are out of eggs.

ReplyDeleteLast night I picked up a pair of Glen plaid Minnies - I don't think they are available online yet, but they are adorable!! Also bit the bullet and got the Rimini in nutmeg - I had been lusting after it since it came out!
ReplyDeleteAlso, SOMEONE had just returned that Mongolian lamb vest for $800... unbelievable!!!!
20% off tees and knits. Is anyone biting?
ReplyDeletenumber9cloud: I'm very interested in the Glen Plaid Minnies...do they fit the same as the other Minnies? If you have a picture, I'd love to see!
ReplyDeletewellfedfred LMAO! Hilarious example of the crewlade madness!
ReplyDeletewellfedfred: I second Mag's LMAO! Between this and Tabitha's blog post this morning I am having a terrific start to the day!
ReplyDeletewellfedfred, you crack me up, this could be my story, lol
ReplyDeleteWellfedfred -- that is some hilarious shiz :)
ReplyDeleteWellfedfred: LOL! You are brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI have a crap load of stuff to return (i.e. two medium bag fulls..is that too much?). Ever since my closest B&M closed down, I have to drive 20 miles to make a return so oh well..
I won't be making any full price purchases as it won't hit Fall until late September for us So Cal folks.
Have a great weekend everyone!
App gal, how I tried to make those plaid minnies work. I found they run a size larger than the others and while I love the plaid, the length was just too short for me in that fabrication. Wish they made tall sizing. The calves were a bit snug too for a plaid pant too. Hope that makes sense,
ReplyDeletenumber9cloud: I got the Rimini in Nutmeg and LOVE IT!! Cannot wait for it to be under 100 degrees so I can wear it somewhere other than my closet! The feel of it is amazing and I love that color! Kind of want it in black, too... but it HAS to go on sale first!
ReplyDeletewellfedfred: Just echoing the comments of others- well said!!! Too funny and a little too true! ;)
ReplyDeleteTabitha: Yey! Your {good} news put a smile on my face today. :)
ReplyDeleteCould anyone tell me if the
ReplyDeleteFlower Sketch Tee
is $19.99 in Apricot Mist in store.
I called yesterday, but they couldn't tell me if this particular color was $19.99. Apparently some are that price.
number9cloud, AppGal and anyone else looking for a cute plaid pant, if the Minnie doesn't work for you then try the Aylesbury cords from Anthropologie or the Logan fit plaid pant from Banana Republic for a dressier version.
ReplyDeleteI have both these pants and really like them, I have a real weakness for plaid. I don't have much for curves on the bottom and the Minnie does not fit me well. But the Anthro cords and BR suitpants - whoo hoo - they look great!
I'm undecided. If there was an extra % off sale, I'd definitely go to see if the pants I saw last week are still there.
ReplyDeletexoxo: Thanks! I actually have those Aylesbury cords in my Anthro wishlist. They are just too cute. Are they tts? Do they fit more like jc's matchsticks or toothpicks? glad to hear they worked our for you!
ReplyDeleteI heart the Aylesbury cords too. Here's a dumb question: what is the difference between J Crew's matchsticks and toothpicks? Can I wear them if I'm pear-shaped? Or will I look like a plaid sausage?
ReplyDeleteAppgal, I actually had a different experience with the plaid Minnie's than gem twin - I am between a size 6/8, and have the regular Minnies in a 6, but got 8 in the plaid... the material is a thin wool, and not stretchy like the regular Minnie. Otherwise the fit is similar. I am 5'7 and the crop is perfect for me! I have been wearing them today already :)
ReplyDeleteXoxo - thanks for the recommendations! I love those Anthro plaid pants... will definitely be getting a pair at some point!!
Oh wellfedfred, if I show up at your door in a taffeta ballerina dress worn with untied desert boots & a jauntily placed beret, may I join the party chez vous? I promise to nourish myself by gazing at Jackies and picking through your dazzling eggs. You are a delight.
ReplyDeleteI am off to store, no lie, to return a backordered item that just showed up. Feeling a tad sheepish because I can't recall the last time I bought anything at the store - I just beeline to the counter, unload the bag and wait eons for j.crew's antiquated cash registers to process my payback.
O/T:
ReplyDeleteBanana Republic code for 25% off $125 online only. Code: BRFORYOU
There's also free shipping on purchases over $50.00 using code:
BRFREE50
LLBean Signature sent out an email stating free shipping with no minimum purchase requirements thru December 20, 2010.
Laughing at Wellfedfred because that post is just great and La Belle Helene because I also head straight to the counter with my bag of returns.
ReplyDeleteThey sometimes ask why I don't come into the store to shop instead of ordering. Now does the the store carry any of the suiting and stuff I am returning? Duh! If you got anything other than jeans, cargos and dustrags, I mean tees, I would try the items in the store instead of ordering them.
No JC for me this weekend, heading up to the lake house. I did stop in yesterday to pick up the Pilar Paisley cami on sale for $49.99, there is no FS at the b&m's. Now I have to return the FP one I purchased about three weeks ago when it first came out! I'm still a bit amazed that this hit the sale racks so soon after being rolled out.
ReplyDeleteAppGal, the Aylesbury cords fit more like the matchstick cords style than the toothpick cords, the legs are more straight than tapered. I took the same size as my J.Crew matchsticks and they fit TTS.
ReplyDeletenumber9cloud, I could not wait to buy the Anthro cords. Wish I had a bit more self-control sometimes and had the patience to hold out for a sale but I kind of lose my mind over plaid. :^P
Canadian JCAs who want to check them out, here is the link to the Aylesbury cords on the Canadian Anthro site, complete with the requesite upcharge. Total with taxes and shipping to Canada was $138.91 CDN.
I popped in yesterday to make a return. My one and only store is rather small so they don't get a lot of the newer items. I did try on this year's double serge wool skirt and liked it. They didn't have the color I want in store though. Also a retail only skirt that is a matte silky fabric in a gunmetal color with some raised shinier areas. Hard to describe. If anyone is interested, I took pics of the skirt and the tag. I liked it. The SA and I laughed about how dreadful the shirred cardigan looked. The sale section was very small. Some island paisley and pilar shirts, some ruffled cardis, random shorts. That was about it.
ReplyDeleteKitsmommy - thankfully, none have yet asked me why I don't buy there instead, but they always ask if I want to look around before I make my return. So today I humored them - and I did actually like this sweatshirt-y hoodie, only when I held it up against me it fell well below my hips. In fact, I think that if I tried it on over that damn glenplaid ruffle skirt that keeps winking at me so alluringly, the shirt would cover this itty bitty skirt. So I just made my return and sulked a little as I walked away. Thankfully, next door at Godiva, they always have something that fits me.
ReplyDeleteJust received Honey Tweed Jacket this afternoon. The tweed is just beautiful but the jacket and pockets are fastened with ugly cheap metal zippers. Plus the body of the size 6 was super big, and the sleeves rather tight. Back it goes!
ReplyDeleteLBH, Godiva's a perfect fit for me too, and is just up the street from the JC wedding store (always good for a laugh, what with the feathers & the longhaired sheep & the twinkly bits).
ReplyDeleteI am envisioning a JC Halloween with tooth fairy & tweedish cheerleader outfits at my door. Next theme: Eastern European Resistance goes to a French thrift shop.
Oh, hasten, September, with cool breezes, rich colors, soft fabrics -- you can do it, JC, I know you can!
Went in my B&M today and they had a small sale section, pretty much all knits and sequiny type tees. Some of the Infinity Cardigans were marked 59.99 (maybe 69.99 tho?), definitely the teal and some of the black. I meant to ask if they were all marked down but it is still in the 90s here so I didn't bother.
ReplyDeleteI was in the store doing returns and price adjustments on a bunch of stuff I bought last week that already went on sale. I'm not buying any more full price, at least I'm trying not to.
My store did just get the sweater jacket thing people have been talking about in green and charcoal and it is SUPER cute but a smidge short and REALLY thick so I wouldn't be able to wear it until probably November here (VA).
All brands of chocolate fit me great, I can usually squeeze into some champagne as well! better buys than t-shirts for sure.
ReplyDeleteReturning a Merino Whisper Ruffle Sweater in Sour Lemon which was way too bright of a color to be tenable. One store had the Chain and Crystal Twist Necklace on sale for 49.99 (also online), so I'm debating over that but I've spent way too much money at JC lately and acquired quite a few necklaces during the summer sale, lol.
ReplyDeleteSocial Scientist,
ReplyDeleteWhat did you think of the fit and style of the merino whisper ruffle sweater? Is it pretty long? How deep is the neckline in front?
Thanks much!
Wow the teal infinity is marked down?! I bought it full price & obviously haven't worn it yet b/c of the warm weather. I'm going to add it to my pile of returns & maybe rebut it. Not sure tho b/c the sleeves are tight. I got the double serge pencil in blue(Nordic?). It is fab! I also got the Jericho pursette in blue. While I love the color, I'm just not sure about it....
ReplyDeleteOT re. Camden brogues have read a few comments here and wondering if anyone who has or has looked at these JC shoes can comment on quality for price? Was about to pull trigger when spotted a pair of gals' wing tips on the Lands End Canvas site, for $89.50. TIA!
ReplyDeleteGetFresh, I don't have the brogues but I am debating them and I do have the Elsbeths which are very nice. I think J. Crew is pushing the top end for these brogues but like the cashmere, they have the colors no one else has.
ReplyDeleteIf only they would do a 20% coupon...
Moto torque cardigan and haya stripe pullovers just popped back in with more sizes.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Moto torque cardigan when I tried it on in June but wasn't willing to pay $118. $49 is much better!
Also, took advantage of the 20% tee sale and got my allotment of stripe shirts. Hopefully, the pocket t doesn't have too small a pocket for my bust size.
I also got the vintage bateau tops. They had a pink stripe. I thought I'd try it out! I hope these have a more generous fit than the perfect fit.
I was worried I wouldn't use the GC my husband got me for my birthday. There isn't anything left now!
did anyone else see infinity cardigans on sale?
ReplyDeletegemtwin: I picked up the infinity cardigan in the teal color at my B&M on Wednesday. It was marked down to $59.99.
ReplyDeleteI got the infinity cardigan in teal on sale at the B&M (San Francisco Westfield). That was the only color on sale. The SA said that she thought it was strange because it seemed like one of the more popular colors. I also got a Jackie in the light green/blue color on sale. They had other Jackies in pink and coral.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth appreciate reply! And if anyone has any Camden brogue comments please chime in.
ReplyDeletethanks Julie Bee and babymama for the infinity info--will have to get to the shop this weekend.

ReplyDeleteAnyone have a crewlet update? :)
ReplyDeleteI tried the Gusto cami and it is fa-bu-lous. I didn't buy it because my Khloe cami should ship the 17th and I want to see which one I like better before buying another cami in the same color (tried the rose dust and the cobblestone and liked the cobblestone better with my skin tone). However when I looked it up on the website to see the other colors offered I saw that on the website it retails for $98 while I could swear that the in store price was $78 (I thought that it was well priced). Anyone who bought this in store and can confirm the price?
ReplyDeleteAlso if you order it it will probably arrive all wrinkled and look like a hot mess. The rose dust one that I tried in store wasn't out on the rack
and came from the stock. It was like another cami compared to the cobblestone one that had clearly been steamed. So before returning it you should steam it. As I said, it is gorgeous once that the ruffles are fluffed out.
Am I nuts to consider the crinkle shimmer t-shirt/tank top? I've seen a few of your blog posts w/pics and thought it looked cute. It's $24.99 on FS. Does it fit TTS? I decided I'm returning the teal Infinity cardi. It's just way too tight in the sleeves.
ReplyDeleteEma: I've noticed that cami online and I thought it looked great: my interest piqued by a cami, that hasn't happened in a long while!
ReplyDeleteHow is the zipper?
DaniBP, the zipper is in the back (a plus). It fits TTS, the 0 was perfect. I think that the rose dust would look lovely on you. The more I think about it the more I want to go back and get it, especially if it's $20 cheaper in stoee.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ema!
ReplyDeleteYes you know me well, I've got my eye on the rose color. You are right, the zipper at the back is a huge plus. It is a gorgeous top.
But to pay $20 more online doesn't sit right! Eeesh. Let us know if you go back for it!
Barton Creek square has lots of the "burnt orange " color Bettina cami's on sale(perfect for football season around here, (but not any other colors) and also lots of the Dot chiffon Betsy wrap cami (we also saw lots of these on sale in Chicago last week). SA told us that a new rollout will be in-store on Wednesday .
ReplyDeleteHey ladies!
ReplyDeleteStopped in my local crewlet Saturday and saw...
Tees (all were 30% off)
Imperial Tees, Savon au fleurs de lys, Rooster, Graphic Rose, Sparking Rose, Embroidered flowers (looks like multicolored fireworks), Two Dogs, Stamped Paisley...there were more but I can't remember them all!
I also saw Dusty Rose and the Amber Yellow outlet Mayas. They are much lighter (cotton vs merino) and have much less of the "twist" effect.
There were about eight different colors of Jackies. One was the hyacinth, another black. Can't remember the others.
There were $29.99 Kelsey Ruffle shirts in pretty prints.
Jewelry was 30% off.
If there is anything specific you're looking for let me know- I might remember :o)
daffodillymeli(at)gmail(dot)com
I also went to the B&M- minimal sale items and wasn't too impressed by the other offerings.
