This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.
If
you have recently experienced a
frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe
you might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Please
feel free to share your story on almost
any topic— including poor experiences with
purchases & orders, promotions/ offers,
in-store visits, transactions with store
associates, etc.
I have a purchase that has completely disappeared. Never moved in tracking at all. I have three returns not accounted for even tho thet were in the same box as one that was returned. I was charged return shipping even tho none of the stores in my area are open. And totally disappointed in the new arrivals. :(
ReplyDeleteCall CS a week after the original delivery date. They will likely credit you and allow a reorder at same price.
DeleteI'm afraid to do returns for the same reason. Who knows when our shops in NJ will ever open!
I have too many clothes for a now WFH person, so am glad I don't care for new arrivals.
I have had to do my returns by mail, and there are issues with every single one of them. Customer Service has been good about correcting the situation, but this has become my WFH project! Admittedly, I have continued ordering with the knowledge that I will have to babysit whatever is returned. I won't go into detail about the "system" I created to manage it, but the time I devote to this is ridiculous.
DeleteThe nearest J.Crew is two hours away, but I have been making the drive about once a month when the stores were open. I got an email saying that they had reopened, and I checked the JC site. I left too early in the a.m. to call before, but when I got there, the store was NOT open even though they had signs that said "Welcome Back." All the lights were off, and I tried calling that store. No luck. I wasn't the only one who had come to shop/return, but I was the one who had driven the farthest.
MmeJacqueline that's awful! To have done the drive and they weren't open, how frustrating! My nearest JC is 2 hrs away too (used to be one an hour away but it closed a few years ago), so I'm pretty resigned to doing all returns by mail (was sad when return shipping went up to $7.50 though, used to be $5). I also have an elaborate babysitting "system" to keep track of my returns, sigh. During the pandemic it's taking over a month for returns to get credited back to my JC card and I hate paying the bill every month knowing the balance is wrong. I sent a return to Anthropologie last week and all return shipping fees are automatically waived (for now) during the pandemic and as soon as USPS received my package Anthro refunded me. It was amazingly simple, ha.
Delete@julielion96: I tried calling the store again yesterday, and there was no answer. I hope they aren't going to close that one for good. The Nordstrom in that shopping center is closed now (one of the 16 they planned to shut down permanently). It was sort of a mini-Nordstrom, and I think the only thing I ever found to purchase there was a MAC lipstick. I viewed it as a returns center that I could combine with my J.Crew returns over there.
DeleteI had trouble with returns by mail before this virus scene. It's just that it takes longer now to get messed up. I made a phone call to CS yesterday and had to wait a long time to speak to someone who ended up being "Clueless Caleb." We were getting nowhere, so I finally gave up and said, "Thanks for your time, Caleb. I'll pursue this again later." I'll call back today and hope for someone who understands what happened. Now and then I get lucky with a CS rep who listens and can communicate.
The day is coming when the few gems I find will cease to exist, and this routine will end once and for all.
Re: new arrivals
ReplyDelete- garment washed cable knit hoodie: i've never seen a cable knit sweater that's a hoodie before. wouldn't the hood get warped in the wash? why would you need a sweater hoodie? i'm just imagining how staticky your hair will be if you actually wore the hood on your head.
- collection maxi tunic in Ratti: it's a caftan that costs $228. why on earth does a caftan cost that much if it's not a designer brand like Pucci??
- drapey button up in Ratti squared away print: My mom totally has a shirt like this in polyester from the early 1980s/late 70s. This one is also polyester. I'm having a difficult time thinking of a way to style this without looking like a thrift shop challenge.
I echo your response. the expensive caftan is poly . I thought for the price it would be silk. or even organic cotton.
Deletenot interested in new arrivals at all...darn it as I was looking forward to them.
The silk shoulder tie dresses are $732 Cdn, that’s insane.
DeleteI actually love sweater hoodies - I added this one to my wishlist right away! I have a J.Crew cable sweater zip up hoodie from years ago and it's one of my favorite items. I'm a software engineer so hoodies are kind of the uniform, but being in sweater material feels a little more elevated :)
DeleteI'm laughing at the pink V-neck floral dress in block print. I took one look this morning and said, "Muumuu." Not sure where that word came from, but there it was--the wardrobe item beloved by grannies back in the 70s. More power to a gal who can rock this look.
DeleteThere is nothing within the new arrivals that appeals to me. I did see a pair of woven tasseled loafers that came in turquoise and hot pink, but the description said that the uppers are synthetic. No thanks.
DeleteI like the Baird McNutt lime green linen shirt. Have the blue one which I like and really love the green. Hopefully the color will be pretty otherwise that will be returned. I like the new seersucker shirt at least how it looks online and had ordered this AN770. I have reservations about the shirt so we’ll see.
DeleteAgreed, this roll-out is a hot mess! I didn’t find anything I was interested in. Usually I love JCrew dresses but it’s a strange assortment this year...too many are one style extreme or the other... long sleeve, or not bra friendly. I’d like some pretty everyday options (other than tee shirt dresses) in between. They also have too many dressy dresses imo...but I guess nobody could have predicated a pandemic which would limit the need for those this year.
ReplyDeleteReceived Ratti Regatta print slim perfect shirt AM646. I love the pattern and the cotton is decent. The down side is the shirt runs small in the chest and shoulders and the sleeves are a few inches too short. I am fairly tall, slim with long arms, 34D. I deliberately ordered a size up from my regular size. I’m certainly not going up another size. The fit is exactly the same as the Slim perfect shirt in navy with the dog pattern print from last winter and a couple of the Liberty print blouses that are way off from their normal sizing of late.
