Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Some new dresses and a new promo is up on the site. I actually like a lot of the dressss! I ended up ordering the ikat dress - will get so much wear out of this one (will be great for our Europe trip which is now weirdly up in the air because of Brexit!) and with the promo the price was right. I also like the blue floral dress and the black/white ratti dress. Those will both be on my list but holding off for now. Not sure if this is the full rollout for the month?

    1. Hello Liz, Brexit will not have any affect with travel for you. Do not let fear get in the way. Thank you for your very kind thought and prayers for my Italian friends. Deeply appreciated. Should you need info about your upcoming travels please let me know. Thank you again

    2. Thanks Lynn! It was an off-hand comment. We’ll be able to travel ok but we’ll be in London during the new delayed date. That has me worried about having small children there with possible protests. So we are re-evaluating when we are in other parts of Europe vs when we’ll be in London. But thanks for the offer of help- just have to think about what I feel comfortable with.

    4. Hmm this could be a staggered rollout, they don't usually do it this way (release only one type of items per month), so I'll check again throughout the week.

  2. Oh and there is a cute midi skirt over at madewell. I’ve never ordered from them but the lilac striped skirt is callin my name. Should I go with my regular size?

  3. There were some new cute dresses on the site, tweed and polka dot, but no extended sizes so they are a pass for me.

  4. I like Midi wrap dress in chambray. J Crew conditioned me to wait until an item I want is at 40% off so I will wait :)

  5. Surprisingly, I actually like two Point Sur items: the flutter-sleeve maxi dress in Ratti in navy ivory (L2565) and the flutter-sleeve midi dress in Ratti (L2562). The first dress reminds me of a skirt they did a few years ago. I wish the ikat dress didn't have the tiers at the bottom but that's a minor complaint. I actually really like what I see. I am worried that Tall sizes are disappearing though.

  6. Ordered two SZ Blockprint items(quilted reversible jacket and tiered dress) since they’re included in promo and 15% still stacked. I really like this collaboration and those were two items on my Spring buy list.

    1. Just curious how you plan to style the quilted jacket? I've had a quilted jacket for years from Built by Wendy and I rarely wear it. I don't know how, other than tossing over a T-shirt and jeans. The quilting makes me look mumsy, and the length/cut made me look boxy. I'd love to get more use out of mine.

    2. @Mygoddy I like that jacket too! The only SZ Blockprint I have is the elephant striped t. I was also interested in the Liberty quilted field coat and the quilted Lady jacket. But, like @eeps I couldn't come up with enough times when I would wear it. Maybe that's the price of working in a corporate office - to me they looks like casual Friday pieces, and I already need 3x as many Fridays to wear all my casual clothing. Though based on the outfits I see at work I may be overdressing?
@eeps, would a white tailored shirt + slim trousers work?

    3. ive tried with button downs and cigarette pants. if i dont tuck the shirt in, i look mom-ish. if i do, it looks too boxy. Mine is a floral print, so it looks a bit prairie countryish.

    4. I have the blueberry color version that was released for holiday. I mixed prints by pairing with the SZ Blockprint cover up that I wear as a top and white denim boyfriend jeans for casual Friday (IG pics on peterst1). Im planning to wear the holiday version with pink tulle skirt (I know this likely wouldn’t work in a corporate office) and a white tee. I could see a cigarette or other skinny pant working well too and instead of a tee, wear a white cotton shell. For the one I just ordered, I’m also planning to wear with a stripe shirt, white or magenta tee (gonna try yellow too) and white linen crop pants. I think you could wear it with a pencil skirt or even a stripe dress for pattern mixing. Chambray would also pair well with the blue/white print. Khaki always works and I have a pair of Point Sur wideleg pants that will work well. What about a paper bag tie waist skirt or pant? Lots of options. I would experiment and see what you like. You can also accessorize as well with pearls or a J Crew statement necklace.

    5. Great ideas, I’ll dig out mine and try a few. I don’t have paper bag waisted anything due to pear shaped bottom half, but I like the idea of the pencil skirt. Thanks!!

  7. OT. I am obsessing about a few Everlane items. I absolutely love the sweaters I got recently and wanted to try pants. The pants I’ve tried in the past didn’t work so I want to try two sizes of each, and the same with a pair of shoes. I’m having a hard time pulling the trigger though! It’s a lot of $ to lay out to try pieces (who knows if any will work).
I’m sure those without a Jcrew store nearby can relate. Should I just order what I want to try?

    1. Depends how you feel about the restocking fees. You may prefer to try one pair at a time, since exchanges are free, but returns are not. I have never shopped Everlane, but when I was looking I did read up on their return policy.

    2. Returns are free if you drop them off at happy returns. There’s one in menlo and one in Summit. They’re also free if you return for credit.

    3. Returning for credit would work if I only tried one size at a time but I like to compare

    4. I wanted to make sure they didn’t change the policy so I checked the FAQ online.

    5. Oh that's good to hear! I ask my husband do my J Crew returns now when he goes to Summit. Returns made in person are always faster and certainly more certain to be correct.

When I was returning the Collection leather jacket to Nordstrom Rack we made a date out of a trip to the Rockaway Mall...our next date will be Short Hills Mall. There's more to window-shop there!

  8. I'm still interested in the Officer pants. Has anyone tried them? How do they fit? Wondering if I would go with 2 or 4...or skip them altogether.

    1. I tried a 00 In Store. They are on my IG. They fit snug so I’d do a 0. I don’t need the tan but they were flattering.

    2. Thanks, is 0 your larger or your 'regular' size? I went ahead and ordered the 2 in tan. The tall 4's and 2's in blue and tan 4's are on back order anyway, so I can always ask for an exchange later if I decide I want a different pair. Otherwise I just have one pair to return.

    3. My usual pant size is a 0. Some 00 fit and I often take a 00 in skirts I want to sit high on the waist. The fabric is thick and stiff. I imagine it will stretch a little with wear. They were very difficult to get on over my widest part but once they were up they weren’t TOO tight.

    4. Sounds about 50/50 for me, as I am 2's maybe 2/3 of the time, and 4's in some denim or corduroy.
