This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
Both a Love and a Vent
ReplyDeleteStopped in yesterday and found a few sale items I was looking for. I was happy that they did honor the 35% off plus cardperks (extra 15), which clearly stated it was online and IN STORE, but had I not checked my codes on my phone it would have just been 30% off. SA very nice and helpful, but they had to ring it up 3 times to get it right. I just don't get why JC makes it so hard fo both SA and for customers to get the same prices online and in store. It is as if one has to belong to some secret club to know the correct prices.
On another price fluctuation note - Prices have increased on many of the sale section items online.
sale section is silly with increases. so will not bother.
DeleteIn store, did you get 35% off plus an additional 15%? If so - the in-store deal is so much better than online! Did I get that right? I have my eye on the J Crew perfect winter parka, heading to the east coast (i'm a California gal) in a month and need a warm coat....
Delete@Jennifer _ I did, but that was on Thursday when this was also the promo online (with J crew CC card). Unfortunately the cardperks promo seems to be over so just 35% off now.
DeleteWas just coming to say that the tropical floral pants are now further reducedand would be under $40 with the codes. Unfortunately the jacket is still stuck at 168.99 and with the promo over the summer it would have been less. I love the pattern but I'm holding off because I know how infrequently I'd wear it, although we are headed to a vacation destination this month and I could wear them there...it would only be once.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up! I have been stalking these forever, just ordered in two sizes since my optimal size was gone. Hoping they work out!
DeleteThanks! I also just picked it up but one size up since most sizes are selling out. Most of all I'm thrilled the website problems seem to have cleared now - I can finally check out after 4 days of getting error messages.
DeleteI'm not thrilled by the cold-weather choices in this roll out: like many of you, I'm hesitant about blends. The pilling of some JC sweaters from last winter is ridiculous but since I bought all of them at crazy sale prices I'm OK. LL Bean is having a 25% off everything sale right now and I just picked up two 100% cotton fisherman sweaters to try. Hoping these work out and that'll be all the new sweaters I need for the season.
I am working tonight and excited to see rollout in person. Our shipment arrived late so it was not instore when I last worked on Monday.
ReplyDeletePicked up the sleeveless Liberty betsy ann blouse this morning and the pointed toe slides in brocade. I got more use than I expected from my other sleeveless liberty blouse this spring and summer, and the shoes are exquisite in person. I was really happy they made it to such a great sale price.
How did the slides fit for you?tts?
DeleteI didn't try them on but every customer I helped with them sized them. I have a narrow for so I sized down one half size. Hope this helps!
Deletei posted in the other thread about the Reeds sweaters so i wanted to follow up here. I ordered two and decided I'm only keeping one.
ReplyDelete1- The turtleneck (Item K3515) This is going back. When I originally tried it on, my impression was that it wasn't baggy enough. So i was thinking about ordering a larger size. but i tried it on again and, it fits, just not the way i wanted. the sleeves, shoulder seam, etc are fine.... it's just not quite right. i don't know if a larger size would improve anything. if it's available in my store to try on, i will, but i'm not going to bother to reorder it.
2- the second one i got was the crew with the rainbow stripes (Item K3538). Now this i LOVE. ironically, i think it's a little baggier in the body than the turtle neck. but as soon as i put it on, i was like YES! it doesn't seem like anything special when you break it down (cream crew neck w/stripes), but something about it feels slightly retro or like an old favorite sweater. so this one definitely stays.
for reference, i'm a size 4 in dresses and usually a small (although, i do sometimes size down to a 2/XS) and i bought a small in both these sweaters. 5'4" so the slight crop to the sweaters doesn't bother me.
I received my “The Reeds” buffalo check coat cardigan today and liked it a lot.
DeleteI sized down one to a xxs and the fit is perfect.
It is a medium weight, not heavy, buy also not thin.
with black friday being only 2 weeks away. I will wait.
ReplyDeleteIs the Cardperks code expired? It does not seem to be applying anymore but it isn’t saying it is not valid or expired.
ReplyDeleteI noticed this too. I guess it has ended. All JC's pricing games make shopping needlessly confusing.
DeleteThe two "sweaters" I'm tempted by are the 365 crepe dropsleeve turtleneck and the Reeds X Jcrew featherweight mock neck sweater. I'm sort of holding off for 40% plus.
ReplyDeleteLast year I bit on the ivory with red and navy fair isle right away and although I like it, it was reduced so low I'm almost embarrassed I didn't get a better deal. I did get the Parke blazer In tartan so along with a few other festive items I don't need anything that screams holiday.
https://www.jcrew.com/p/K3544?mode=edit&N=X-SMALL&NUM_ITEMS=1&cartId=263361657&color_name=black-red
I feel exactly the same.
DeleteThe only sweater I added to my wishlist is the featherweight mock neck sweater. But I am also waiting. I'd like to try this one on, could it run smaller than usual for J Crew?
DeleteThe Reeds x JC buffalo check sweater jacket (K3567) - I ordered my usual S and it looks just like the model pic. Oversized, enough so that I’m waffling on whether a size down would be a better fit. It’s more of a tomato soup red than a true red, but still looks cute. The tag says 100% wool, and it feels soft, not itchy. Pockets are nice and deep and the arms are long (and I have long arms). Has a double-knit feel to it but is not as thick as some of my older JC sweater jackets/sweater coats. If it were a true red and a true navy I’d keep it without hesitation (for the $148 I paid for it), but I’m truly undecided.
ReplyDeleteFair Isle cardigan coat (K4647) - Way oversized, which I suspected - but even sizing down it was enormous. No pockets despite the description, and no way to close it. Mine arrived absolutely covered in pills. Awful! I would’ve guessed it was a wear-and-return but I ordered the day it came out. Hard pass.
Thanks for sharing the review! I ordered too and waiting for it to arrive. It’s the one thing I wanted to try since it’s 100% wool & seems like a fair price with the promo.
Deletewow...thanks for the warning.
DeleteI saw the Reeds sweaters and not sure about the blends. Something about all these collaborations at J Crew is beginning to feel like I stepped into Anthro where there is an array of different brands. Maybe it was because the Reeds sweaters at front seemed like something I’d see at Anthro. Also not sure about quality since already saw some threads or ribbons unraveling. They also didn’t feel substantial- kinda thin. I second the above post about LL Bean fisherman sweater— 100% cotton. Nice and substantial. Felt like good Quality. Almost like the “old j crew”. Despite this there were a few basic pieces I did like but in no rush to get— will wait for sale.
ReplyDeleteJCrew gift guide is now online . thought it would be next week.
ReplyDeleteDisappointed that none of these sweaters are wool. They won't hold up. And the price is too high for a one or two season buy. Brooks Brothers has all wool at the same price point.
ReplyDeleteSame here. I hate all the synthetic blends. I like the 1999 funnelneck sweater in merino wool from last year, but I'd probably like it even better if it was only wool or wool and cashmere. It's 55% wool, 30% nylon and 15% cashmere.
DeleteWell the website is having problems again. Can’t search for anything. I also received the lace pants and they are a no. I sized up one because my pair from a few years ago is a bit small after baby #3. The new pants are low rise so much so that when I sit down half of my backside hangs out. Just no.
ReplyDeleteSame, can’t open the website. White blank page!!!
DeleteBut last night at 12:30 I snagged a long looked pop back, lady jacket in multi navy stripe G7548 for $49 in size 4. I am usually a 2..... but been looking for this jacket for a while.....so excited to give it a try. I did get the lodge coat that pooped back last week. It’s last years item. I do like it, fits TTS. Not sure about the heather acorn color. Since I do lots of grey and black..... so will give it some thought since it’s was $93....

Deletethe lace pants. the online pic of the model in a larger size (which it what I would take) look low. looks terrible. definite pass. too bad. these would have been fab in higher rise.
DeleteI have a really long torso and didn't find the rise from last year's low at all. I got the red (this year's red is a little richer) and love them. Normally I have issues with elastic waist pants when they're lower rise and I find these work well.
Deletewonder if they are the same as last year? festive red is lovely IRL. I maybe the only person who doesn't like J Crew's cherise red. seems orange to me.
DeleteI don't like the orangey red either, but the cerise pants from last year are more of a bright red, not orange,
Deleteits hard to know J Crew's reds. But I like 'festive red' alot . I don't own any items in cerise. I didn't like it on me.
DeleteThere are a few different cerise colors, believe it or not. My Sophia patent pumps and lace pull on pants are the same bright red. There are other cerises that definitely are more orangey. I just got the penny suede sandals and they're a hint more orangey, as are the slingbacks released this fall.
DeleteI hope this year’s version works for some people - the red is gorgeous (though not ideal on my pear shaped bottom half). I dug out my old pair this morning and they magically fit even though I have about 12 pounds of baby weight left to lose. Just in time for the holiday season!
Deleteyes...J Crew is recycling styles. so should we.
DeleteI've been "recycling" many older J.Crew styles from my own closet and also from Ebay and Poshmark. My Ebay and Poshmark purchases have been mixed. Some items were NWT or looked like new. Hooray! Other items had undisclosed damage, excessive wear or were disgustingly filthy. I try to purchase from people who sell from their own closets whenever possible, but many sellers source their merchandise from thrift stores and their merchandise tends to be in poor condition. Returns are a PIA but I refuse to reward bad sellers.
Deleteon Canadian sale section...alot of price increases. pass.
ReplyDeletereally ticks me off.
Right there with you. The past month my money has gone to Club Monaco, BR and Marshall's. Sorry J.Crew; but I feel like I'm out growing your missteps, mistakes, off sizing and quality hiccups.
DeleteHere, here!
DeleteSome of the new rollout items are 45% higher than US, that’s crazy. A number aren’t so I don’t know why some sweaters are. Usually I find the diff around 30% higher. The fact that we’ve had 1 free shipping day only since the rewards rolled out in US makes me feel that the new management isn’t showing us any love.

DeleteAs I noted in another thread, industry insiders seem to be of the opinion that JCrew is contemplating pulling out of Canada altogether. Stores have closed, they haven’t renewed their Canadian PR contract. Their products are just too expensive up here and I’m sure logistics are costly (hello, Target) - so I’m doubting the Canadian market is profitable for them. So on a cost basis, I’m sure that offering us free shipping is way down their list these days. We still have 4 stores here in Toronto, but who knows for how long?
DeleteVancouver has three stores and a factory outlet near the airport.
DeleteI wonder if any are closing. my bet you be the pacific centre location. ..because this is my favorite one with the best sa's/
Just wanted to add, same as dr32 I have been burned by the "supersoft" sweaters by j crew and madewell last year...they didnt last and pulled and stretched like some thing from H and M...so I went to the LL Bean store w 25 percent off and got the nicest cashmere sweaters and plaid shirts that are very j crew ten years ago. High quality and reasonably priced. I always thought ll bean was a little...eh...oldish and boring but their sweaters and cashmere are impressive and very old school crew.
ReplyDeletePilled not pulled. Though actually pulled isnt wrong they had to be thrown out they were so worn out looking. After less than a season of wear.
DeleteI agree LL Bean can be a cut frumpy, but the quality is there year after year. LL Bean gear wears out, but it can take years. We go for boots, fleece, t-necks, the river-driver shirt for my husband. And madras shorts that are more J Crew than J Crew can ever be!
DeleteLL Bean cashmere doesn’t have the beautiful colors that J Crew has but it is great quality. You almost can’t go wrong w any of their sweaters - many sturdy natural fibers and styles that are timeless. Love the Fisherman and Norwegian styles. The LL Bean Signature line has the more updated styles and fit.
DeleteI am honestly done buying J Crew sweaters.
How does LL Bean sweaters fit? I couldn’t find any reviews online.
DeleteThey run a little bigger than *traditional* j crew fit. I say that with asterisks as j crew sizing has been all over the map lately.
DeleteBasically they are not doing the short boxy look as much. Im 5'7" 130 and in j crew a pretty consistent small and size 4. (Sometimes xs but for length i always do small). In llbean im a cpnsistent xsmall
I just discovered LL Bean a couple years ago. They have some really nice sweaters and I love their slippers. However, I wasn't impressed with the quality of everything. I bought a pair of chinos that stretched out a ridiculous amount and pilled after only a couple wears. I don't think I've ever owned chinos that pilled before.
DeleteI ordered a women's fisherman sweater and a man's fisherman sweater from LLBean last week. It arrived within three days. I wear a S in JC sweaters (for a loose-ish fit) and I ordered a M in the women's LLBean sweater. It's loose in the body but the sleeves are TIGHT. I don't think I can fit a l/s shirt under. The quality is great but the fit is bizarre.
DeleteI ordered a L in the men's sweater and of course its huge but at least the arms aren't freakishly tight. I'm thinking maybe I should stick with men's sizing for LLBean sweaters.
Swp in nova- agree with you- always thought llbean was also a little oldish and boring but I was totally surprised when I browsed their stuff. And pleasantly delighted that they didn’t have many blends. The reason I even looked at their site was I stumbled upon someone wearing their sweater on Instagram and it looked like “old j crew”. Also another annoying thing about these collabs is I don’t know my sizes!! Added with guessing J crews sizing these days too. As much as I’ve vented about the collabs I will say there were a few fall point sur items that worked in my wardrobe. But I’m guessing this is the direction the crew is heading—just wishing they find a head designer to spearhead jcrew for jcrew.
ReplyDeleteYesterday the Reeds sweater was eligible for the Family promo but today it's not. Oh well. We shall see what tomorrow brings.
ReplyDeleteReceived my latest order. Sadly most of what I put on doesn't make me feel good. Isnt that sad?
ReplyDeleteThe full length high rise satin crepe pants are ok...the fit isn't perfect. Maybe if the pockets were sewn shut? A size up would probably be too big. The fabric is no better than a pair of 20 year old Ann Taylor satin trousers I just sold on Poshmark, but I wanted the pockets. You can see the outline of the pockets through the material. The length is fine for me with 2-3" heels. It's not cropped as shown online.
Point Sur colorblock denim. These are from awhile back and popped back in my size. I really like the subtle color block but the length is too short and the rise is high, I need to wear them low to work. If I wear them high the waist is too loose.
Wrap blazer in 365 crepe. I sized up and shoulder aren't too big, but it's loose everywhere else. And it's not wrap at all, it has a tie belt and single button closure. Will have to try with a heavier top and different bottoms.
The penny sandals in bright cerise look more orange than some of the other bright cerise items, so I need to try them with a few things.
The only things I love are the balloon sleeve turtleneck and the penny sandals with crystals. The oversized roaming tiger silk scarf is a little bizarre. The pattern is really oversized. It will work well tied to a bag but I think it might be too much near the dress.
I'll def try everything on again in daylight
That’s always a let down @SuzHas, sorry to hear that. Glad you like the balloon sleeve turtleneck, I’m going to wear mine today as I haven’t yet since I bought it. I bought the shirt dress in the cerise colour and it’s slightly more orange than I like, it depends on the lighting too. I kept it but wish it was more red.
DeleteI’ve been eyeing the penny sandals in Bright Cerise and Crisp Berry. I’d be okay with a more orangey shoe, but as my local store is closing next I’m now hesitant to order as I’ll have to start paying for returns. Are they TTS?
Deletefor me they were...the only J Crew I have ever found to not be tts are the new balance sneakers.
Delete@shopgrrrl, I’m in the same position as you. I was just thinking though that I remember someone saying that if you pay with PayPal then shipping returns can be refunded by PayPal. I’m just not sure how I’d show PayPal the $25 cdn fee as Jcrew deducts it from the return. Has any cdn JCA had luck with this?
DeleteI haven't tried the cerise ones on yet but my smaller size in the crystal ones was plenty big,
DeleteThanks! The crystal ones are really pretty!
DeleteI posted pics of The Reeds buffalo plaid sweater jacket on my IG
ReplyDeleteI’m going to order a few things to try: tie neck sweater, cotton wrap skirt, and the Charleston t shirt. I saw it in store and it’s adorable. And coincidentally my first big dance recital was the Charleston! Excited for that tee. Since my new job I haven’t bought any graphic tees because I can’t wear them and I have a drawer busting at the seams with tees but I’ll make an exception for this one!
ReplyDeletewould love to hear about the cotton wrap skirt when you get it.
DeleteI missed this on the site. seems like a good summer skirt...was it released recently?
@shopgrrl, call customer service explain you are not sure what size you might need. They will waive return shipping.
ReplyDeleteThanks for tip, I didn’t think of that!
DeletePlaced three separate orders this weekend for an item or two a piece. I'm excited to try the Any Day Ponte pants, Crepe Blazer (sorry it wasn't a winner for you Suz Has), Velvet Leggings, Suede Block Heel Sandals, and Piped Leather Loafers.
ReplyDeleteI used the "family" code originally and tried to stack the "skimmxjcr" second, but it wouldn't take. I emailed CS about my orders each time with the "skimmxjcr" code and the first order was adjusted properly, while the second order was rejected by CS for a PA (different CS reps). I called today and they adjusted it over the phone. Why the inconsistencies?
My B&M has had some great events lately and used some local bloggers to advertise. I still wish they would do something tailored towards holiday event outfits for both adults and children (we have no Crewcuts in our store). I think this would be a sure winner as the shopping mall has holiday events where tons of families are walking the stores and limited children's clothing stores in the center. I did buy the pink Oversized Patchwork Cable Knit sweater at one of the events and am really looking forward to wearing it as soon as the temperature drops a little more.
Good luck! I do intend to try my items again. Hopefully I'll have some keepers.
DeleteThanks! I ordered the burgundy. I am kind of having a color crush on that shade this season.
DeleteI ordered the Classic-fit shirt in mixed denim stripe J6219. I liked the contrast collar and cuffs, and am hoping for a cross-the-line casual/work style that I pair with a blazer or my 'dressy' dark wash denim skirt. Or toss on with casual pants or shorts the rest of the time. Does anyone have any of the 'classic fit' shirts? I ordered both my regular (6) and one size down (4)...
ReplyDeleteI retried my order again.
ReplyDeletePosted a pic of the collection full length wide leg pants in satin crepe. Seeing a pic, I love them but hate the way the pockets lie. Not sure if it's just the pair I got, the way they are, if sizing up would help. I don't want to sew the pockets closed because I like to keep a lip gloss in there, that's one of the reasons I liked the pants.
I tried the balloon sleeve merino turtleneck in three sizes based on reviews. Ultimately I think I prefer the fit of the largest size, the Small, because of the extra length.
The wrap blazer in 365 crepe is going back. Granted, the S is loose through the body, but overall it feels cheap, and I have so many nicer black blazers it's just silly. I could just wear it casually but it doesn't even look great with jeans, and the on seam pockets (which were sewn shut, and I wondered why there was a tear in the seam) aren't as functional as typical blazer pockets.
The penny sandals in the cerise are more of an orangey red but I think they work well with jeans so considering the low price and the comfort level I'll keep these and the black with crystals.
Ohm and the point Sur color block jeans, which I desperately wanted to love, just don't work at all. It's too bad because the denim is great, the cut doesn't work for me.
DeleteHi Suz, have you tried steaming the pocket to see if you can train it to lay differently? It's a shame you already got rid of the old faithful pair...
DeleteThank you for your review of the blazer, I will refrain from purchasing.
I like the black crystal penny's for you :)
Cheri, that's my,next step, steaming the pants. They need it anyway!
DeleteHonestly I don't think you're missing out by not buying the blazer. I was hoping it was just a plain version of the tropical floral wrap but it's not.
I know a lot of people like it, but I don't get the appeal of the 365 crepe. Everything looks and feels cheap when it's made of 100% polyester IMO. To each her own, I guess.
DeleteI am returning the same wrap blazer in Small. There are things I like - the lapels and the length are nice. But without the belt it is just too wide in the waist, and with the belt it looks, well, it looks Hugh Hefner. If you are too young to know who that is, Google him and you will see the pictures.
DeleteTotally get that!
DeleteMade returns in store this weekend, but no purchases. Have a trip coming up after Christmas, so ordered Kreafunk wireless headphones since I've been looking for a bit. New promo was showing that it applied. Tried family since it was better (it worked) and was able to stack with cardperks.
ReplyDeleteJCrew wants it customers to buy 'selected' sales items for 25% off and the rest of the inventory (including items which have been on sale since last summer - G5694 - I see you) with no additional discount. But, yesterday the same exact items were 30/35% off. I'm trying so hard to understand their strategy.
ReplyDeleteits no wonder all of it is still sitting there. are they waiting for black Friday? all i hope is the site doesn't crash when they do lower % off sale for 40% ... which is what i should be. IMO
DeleteThe 2017 Collection velvet double breasted blazer in Lichen popped up this AM in my 'usual' 6. So at $62 I ordered it. Crossing my fingers it ships Does anyone have this jacket or remember how it fits? I can see wearing this over my dark sweater dress or pairing it with my green Foundry pants, or black denim.
ReplyDeleteWell it shipped, so I guess I will find out about the fit anyway. The return of the black wrap blazer fail will cover 40% of the cost of this hopefully much nicer blazer. It is a bit of a memorable color, but I'm not afraid to stand out a bit. I see there is a 'regular' retail version for this year that is an 1 3/4" shorter in the body, 1/2" shorter sleeves and is viscose/poly instead of viscose/silk.
DeleteHi, has anyone seen or tried the bomber jacket with side zips item k 3868? Thank you,
ReplyDeleteI was able to snag a popback of black wool Maddie's and I am ecstatic. Need another pair of black work pants like I need a hole in the head, but these are my HG and I didn't have black. I don't like the cotton ones that have been lingering in sale nearly as much.
ReplyDeleteWhat does HG stand for? sorry I am not familiar with this one. thanks.
DeleteHoly grail, usually.
DeleteGlad you found them. I love my Maddies, including the Maddie chinos from last year.
DeleteI originally picked up the chinos on super sale online, and have been hunting popbacks ever since. Why must J Crew retire the good stuff, what already works?!?
DeleteI just contacted J Crew and complained about the sale section (Canada) price increases from a week ago. as well as telling them ahaving 35% one day...30 % the next and now 25% (off small selection ) of sale is just poor business . I am am not ordering for awhile. they just have ticked me off too much. as well I asked if they are using another delivery method as per Canada Post strike. no they have not....so don't expect your parcels to be delivered in the 10days it usually take. pathetic. IMO
ReplyDeleteI stopped in to the store last week to check out the latest collection and do some try ons. My store was matching the 35+15 offered online last week so I did end up with a few items.
ReplyDeleteI tried on the leopard blouse/midi, 365 slouchy turtleneck, floral silk pleated popover, charcoal skinny jeans, velvet jumpsuit, tweed going out blazer (love!),a few of the Point Sur sweaters and the houndstooth Parke/glen plaid lady blazer among other things.
You can see the photos and some small reviews on my blog here
Anne thanks for trying the crepe turtleneck "sweater" (???). I really wanted the black and wasn't sure what size, but now I see the texture and I'm less enthused.
DeleteI really appreciate and enjoy your reviews and pictures. Thank you for taking the time to try on and post!
DeleteSuz, I didn't mind the texture, I think I'm still in debate over sleeve length. They should not be calling it a sweater though.
DeleteCheri - you're welcome! Glad to help out :)
Agreed. It's not a sweater, it's a top! The only thing i thought when I saw it on Ina (not as close up) was that a long sleeve button down might work under it and I can see that being cool.
DeleteI'm not against the texture, necessarily, but the bottoms I was planning on pairing it with are smoother and I can be weird about stuff that shouldn't matter. 😂
Great reviews as always, Anne! Thank you for posting such detailed info and great pics.
DeleteI bought the ivory 365 crepe top recently, love the drape of it. It’s such a great heavy stretch jersey fabric and I think it’s a misnomer by JCrew to call it ‘crepe’ as that only refers to the texture rather than the fabric. I have similar tops in navy and black from COS and I find them easy to layer under for winter - a long-sleeve tee works really well for me, and I think you could also do a tissue turtleneck under it. But you’re right, it’s NOT a sweater!
Good explanation on the fabric. I had NO idea it was stretchy.
DeleteSuz, I thought it was their usual poly-crepe that they’ve used on blouses in the past - but it looked so good in Anne’s IG stories last week that I popped into my local store. Turns out it’s actually a really nice weighty poly-elastane jersey, not as heavy as a pointe or scuba, and very fluid. Very wearable, and layerable, and for once a good length too. Much more Club Monaco/COS than JCrew imo.
Deletewould you agree with Anne that it's TTS? I'm usually between two sizes at JCrew and can't tell which I should go with!
DeleteLauren, I am usually an M, sometimes a S - I bought the M and it fits just as shown on the model shots.

ReplyDeleteJ.Crew's new "younger" brand
ReplyDeletehttps://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/nevereven.jsp?sidecar=true
Wow, they are just throwing everything at the wall in the hopes that something will stick.
DeleteExactly what I was thinking @silver_lining. Except that a few sweaters are combed cotton and reasonable prices. Might be worth a try.
DeleteI love the d ring pants. They're lyocell though, which I don't think washes too well, from experience, but they look cool.
DeleteI think they should call it NeverEver, because I will never ever buy any of it.
Deleteshopgrrl, this made me LOL. Yeah, I'm not impressed. J.Crew, you can do better.
DeleteYeah, I saw that yesterday and thought it was a mistake.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Deletecheap-looking Madewell knockoffs.
DeleteWhat a hideous collection of clothing. I’m embarrassed for JCrew. The fabrics used are cheap and the styles are awful. I just keep saving more and more money not buying anything, just wearing my older items which are still stylish and look fantastic.
DeleteOh, I saw that and thought it was a 3rd party collaboration. There is not a single piece I'm interested- it's all shapeless and cheap-looking.
Deleteoh no ! this is terrible . IMO.
DeleteThey are grasping at straws. So sad. I have bought zero from the new rollout. There's nothing I would buy even at a great discount.
DeleteYou can see from the way the garments hang on the models that the quality is extremely low. It’s all so basic and cheap looking and available at every fast fashion retailer. The days of being a brand people aspire to wear are permanently behind them if they keep churning out this stuff.
DeleteWow, that stuff is hideous
DeleteI actually thought it was Neverever until I read the product names! Well if I ever want to look shapeless and clueless, I'll know where to go. Until I hit that bottom, I'll be staying away.
DeleteDoesn't look younger at all. The fits look more sloppy to me. Too much athleisure and minimalism. I might like one item I see though.
ReplyDeleteThis is off topic but I am currently obsessing over a few coveralls at Madewell - the satin pajama jumpsuit, the garment dyed denim slim coverall, and the Sherpa coverall jumpsuit. I am ignoring the fact I may be too old for them, and that this is what I (unsuccessfully) hunted for in thrift shops in the 90s. They are all online only. Does anyone have experience with sizing? I'm nearly at the point of ordering 2 or 3 sizes of each for try on purposes.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you be too old? I'm just getting old enough that I wear what I want, ha! (You were probably hunting for my 1980 jumpsuit that I wish I had kept even though I lost the belt on a Delta flight from Portland to Newark.) Anyway, start with one. I like the red garment dyed denim slim coverall, it has a fitted waist that makes the back view better.
DeleteI spent too many years pregnant wearing overalls , but last holiday a friend wore one of the more fitted black ones with a white puffy sleeve blouse and the J.Crew plaid heels with the silver stars and it looked incredible. She's older than I am, in her early fifties and looked amazing! I did try one of the denim coveralls with zipper from Madewell about 3-4 years ago but with my long torso it just wasn't quite right, plus I figured it was just like wearing jeans, so, I might as well just wear jeans.
Delete@p banos, yep, probably would have loved yours! RIP
Delete@suz, I will let you know if they've become more long torso accommodating
I think because I have a birthday coming up, and have been purging and doing more thoughtful buying, I am conscious of what I will be buying to wear in 5 years...and longer. I have a young looking figure, but never want to turn around and surprise people when they see the face attached.
😂 I guess in my delusional mind of mostly feeling like I'm 25 I think my face looks like it too. Oh sh!t, do you mean to tell me it doesn't?
DeleteYou are both lovely. The main concession I made for age is shorter hair once the grays got going. I honestly enjoy fashion more now than I did at 25, since I'm much more confident.
DeleteMy nasolabial folds remind me I'm not 25 ;)
DeleteHere goes nothing. I ordered the one you preferred p banos, in black in a 0 and 2, and the Sherpa one in an XS.
😂 luckily my eyesight is going. That's the one way I know I'm not 25 anymore. I can't see a damn thing. In the mirror I have no wrinkles, and my gray is a purposeful, chic streak.
Delete@Cheritheberry, make sure you fill us in on the jumpsuits! ! It will help me decide if I should consider trying a look that worked for me 30+ years ago. I went back to flare jeans and am happy with that look, so maybe!
Delete@Suz Has, (un)fortunately there is cataract surgery. Still trying to convince my hubs that grey is chic on me. In the meantime some strategic highlights and lowlights are blending it in.
Suz Has, I read some fascinating research about peoples' perception of their own apparent age and physical attractiveness. When shown accurate photos of other people, along with copies of the photos that were altered to make them more and less attractive than they actually are, people have no trouble choosing the real photos. But when shown the same kind of photos of themselves, most people chose the photos that were altered to make them appear more attractive as the "real" photos. The same kind of results have been found with regard to apparent age. We can see that other people look their age, but we generally believe we look younger. 🤪
DeleteJeanne, whatever works! Honestly, I'm very happy with myself and feel fortunate, considering I'm almost 49, to not want to have Botox or anything else. I just try to take care of myself and be happy. It's just a number. Soon I won't even use it. 😂
DeleteI feel the same, Suz Has. I feel fortunate to be in good health. Anything beyond that is a bonus.
DeleteAlso no fillers, etc. at nearly 42...I'm thrilled with every clean pap smear and when I hear everything is fine after having multiple mammograms and ultrasounds.
DeleteSuz, I have to say that choosing to age naturally, and letting your 3 daughters see that, is really a wonderful thing. Kudos to you. :)
Cheri, thank you, that means a lot.
DeleteIs anyone in touch with Alexis?
ReplyDeleteI'm concerned something is wrong because none of the entries for this week (Monday, Tuesday) have posted. We're all still commenting on Friday!
It was a holiday weekend. She's probably busy with other things. I'm sure she'll eventually notice the auto post isn't working.
DeleteI’ve noticed that most of the bloggers who focused on J Crew have moved on. Not much to talk about anymore, not as many followers. I do wonder how long Alexis will keep up this little community.
DeleteYes, Ruffles!
DeleteAfter I posted, I thought maybe Alexis is just choosing this sad moment in crew history to ease out of association with it... and that we'd all just have to comment on the rest of the decline on this one post🤔.
But she's back today!
Does Alexis ever post her anymore? I follow her on Instagram but I haven't noticed her name here for a long time.
DeleteConcept Store in NYC is having an event on Sunday. Received an email from Kristy Maynard so flying in from Monaco on Thursday. Can’t wait should be fun. There will be a discount available. I will have my little Shih-Tzu Tango with me as an identifier. He loves everyone at Jcrew:) Hope to meet some of you there if you are attending.
ReplyDeleteI middle-of-the-night-tummy-ache found a 2017 Ludlow topcoat in chracoal wool/cashmere for the hubs. Hope it fits and he wants a new topcoat. His existing is old (like 20 years) and actually is nice, but too big. The Ludow was under $100 and has such great reviews. The 2018 version has terrible reviews, as the cut was changed. One of the 2018 review includes photos from both years that show how bulky the 2018 is around the waist.

ReplyDeleteJust received my vintage pajama set in flannel Stewart black tartan (Item K2378). If anyone was hoping these would be the perfect warm and cozy holiday pajamas, they will be disappointed. In spite of the description, these are a lightweight and crisp woven cotton, and most definitely not anything resembling flannel. On the other hand, if you live someplace warm and want pajamas that look like Christmas but feel like summer, these are the ones for you!
ReplyDeletedarn it...I think there was another item last year (same time of year) that was supposed to be flannel and was a light weight cotton. thanks for the info.
DeleteI think someone writing descriptions at J.Crew is confused about what cotton flannel looks like. Last year's cotton "gingham" pajama bottoms were made of very low quality checked flannel, not gingham. I should have returned them immediately, when I saw the fabric, but I kept them and they looked like an old rag after 2 or 3 times through the wash. I'm still bitter.
DeleteCanada Post orders will be delayed. no sense of what the # of days will be.
ReplyDeleteI have an order that was 10 days today. and no sign of delivery date.if it goes longer I will contact CS and ask for $12 shipping refund. they should have switch carrier like the Gap did with my order.
looks like black friday for Canadian shoppers will be effected.
