You know what I would like to see from J.Crew from the coming roll-out; red wool pants. Nice straight leg, a touch wide-leg, (not too high rise), 120s wool.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed a few designers use red from nyfw. Start the trend early.
What do think of these? Limited size run, on sale from Max Mara.

Cmg-yes! Pants like Max Mara. The fabric must be nice. ☺️

ReplyDeleteThey had them last year, but I wasn't crazy about the red. They were the long pants with the belt and also came in a gray. The red was that more orangey red.

DeleteThe Pantone color selected for spring 2018 says tomato red. Maybe a hint of orange for that season. Red for fall would have blue mixed in.
DeleteI think that "modern red" or "vibrant flame" color they've been doing for years is very Jenna. Didn't she say once that she only associated true red with the Holiday catalogs/collection? I'd love to see it more in their offerings year-round.
DeleteWell, the ones from last winter were definitely more of a tomato red. They did not match the poppy tippy. I don't like orange so I didn't even try them, as much as I liked the style of the pant.
DeleteThe red of the new Daphne boiled wool coat would be perfect - it isn't orangey and a true slightly blueish red. J.Crew loves that orange-y red. I would love a blazer in red. A woman I work with has Ludlow blazer from a few years ago in that perfect red and I am envious every time she wears it!
DeleteCopying from the Reviews post:
ReplyDeleteThe 2003 washed silk V-neck tank (item G7767) in navy (vintage indigo). This was a surprise love - I put it on and wore it out somewhere right away.
It is more of a soft matte fabric rather than a shiny fabric. It drapes really nicely and the v-neck back and front flatter me more than the round front and back of the velvet tank.
See my problem with it was too shiny. I was hoping for a true washed silk finishes, with minimal sheen.
DeleteWhat color did you get? Mine didn't seem shiny at all. I've had a few silk tanks in the past that were very shiny so maybe that's my measure. I ordered it in pink too and I'm curious how that one will be.
DeleteI also ordered it in pink but haven't gotten it yet.
I got the pink and the golden tea. Maybe the navy is more muted since it's darker.
DeleteFactory Addison Chino. These are an "online exclusive" and I tried them because they were described as "city fit," which is a lower rise from prior years at retail that I personally loved. I am NOT a high-rise body ... petite, short-waisted and 34dd. High-rise bottoms honestly come up to my boobs. Anyway, I really like these. A nice basic pant with a flattering rise and trouser legs.
ReplyDeleteI've been living in my Sammies this week, they feel like the perfect transition piece for summer to fall. I've been styling them with floral-embroidered white sneakers and slouchy cotton sweaters or t-shirts with a denim jacket. I'm so glad I picked up a few colours last year.
ReplyDeleteLooks like final sale is gone...
ReplyDeleteJust placed orders from Madewell and J.Crew for skinny jeans. Last year I was really more into the straight leg but I've been feeling like a basic skinny jean is something I could use. Since J.Crew has one on sale and final sale has been lifted I ordered and I'll compare with Madewells slightly more expensive version. From J.Crew I tried the Classic Rinse and the lyric wash whi I've admired on IG. The gold ballet flats changed in price from $118 back to full price, but I ordered anyway because I can always get a PA. Also ordered the black rib sweater switch snapped cuffs (it was final sale a few days ago). Since the promo changes tonight maybe it will work out.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a solid order, Suz Has! I've been admiring that Lyric Wash, too, since I saw it on Ina. Those gold flats are so pretty so I hope they work out for you!
DeleteI tried the flats on in store but they run small and didn't have my size. They're pretty stiff but we shall see if the right size works.
DeleteMy wardrobe is so basic these days, a simple black sweater and well fitting jeans are my uniform.
DeleteI wish the JCrew and Madewell jeans had skinnier ankles. I like the overall fit, but I prefer a skinny jean that is skinny all the way down. Looks better and works better with booties without having to roll anything up.
DeleteThat was one of the comments I read for both, but my last skinny jean purchase of 7 for all mankind (and they were expensive!) had the ankles and calves so tight they were uncomfortable. My calves and ankles are pretty skinny so we shall see how I feel about these. I had at several other pairs of JCrew toothpicks I sold because I didn't like the way the back pockets looked or the way the butt fit.
DeleteIt's interesting how everyone shape is different because 7 For All Mankind make my favorite pair of jeans. I also really like Paige, but my 7s are the ones I wear for long flights.
DeleteI have pretty curvy legs(?), that's a weird thing to say :p. My ankles are small, but my calves are moderate/slim athletic.
7 for all mankind were always my favorite too. There was just something about th fit of this particular pair that was off. They were the Gwenivere.
DeleteI went to the nicer of my JCrews and was able to combine the $20 for trying on pants promo with the 15% off to get the crewcuts sweater I wanted!
ReplyDeleteI did try on the velvet pull-on skirt and it was a miss for me. I was hoping it would fit like the paper bag skirt, which is oddly flattering, but I think this one was missing the tapered length. I think it would better on a straighter figure. I could see it have a casual cool drape, on me though it just made my hourglass shape look frumpy. A petite size might be a better fit for me though. I may try the petite later. I don't think it's a must for me.
I wish the had made other things in the silver velvet. It's so pretty, but I'll never wear the dress.
Didn't like the velvet tank top though. It didn't have a quality look and feel. It seemed like something I could get from F21. JCrew has had some really bad stitching in general as of late. That copper rose color is pretty awful. It looks very 70s.
some of the instragram/bloggers have pics of the new fur coat and a few other items. nice to see but I really have no where to wear some of the dressier items this roll out.
