Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. The new code is tiered and good thru Sat, 10/29. The first tier ($25 off $125) is 20% off, the 2nd tier equals 30% off & the 3rd tier ($175 off $500) = 35% off. Free ship no min.

You still have til 11:59 PST to order with FALLSTYLE for 40-50% off the sale section.

    1. Thanks for figuring out those percentages. Looks like no exclusions, so this is the time to order coats or other items that are always excluded.

    2. I'm so tempted to spend up to $500. to get that 35% off. Want to buy the Regent in Heather River and the wool patio in red-these two are always excluded in promos.

    3. Oh, there are exclusions. Be careful!

    4. waah, all my final sale items are double now and the FALLSTYLE code refferenced above is not working! Guess that's what I get for waiting for a better sale : (

    5. I took advantage of this promo. It's such a good deal @ 35% off! It said I saved $180. Purchased the Wool Patio Pant in red, Regent Blazer in Heather River, Mosaic Wool Scarf in red blue plaid, Pixie in navy....

  2. Decent promo - fine print says it ends tonight so I wouldn't delay if you're going to order. Personally, I wouldn't order sale items with this because they'll probably be 40% off again on the next promo (tomorrow, ha!).

If you're interested in coats, I tried 5 on in the B&M yesterday and posted in the reviews thread.

  3. I'm thinking about trying the Collection Nylon Parka with removable liner. May add in the Georgie loafers (finally) to get the 35% off. Has anyone tried on the Nylon Parka?

    2. except they raised the prices on stuff from yesterday so even with the %off, it's more $$ :/

    3. With the extra 31% off, the online prices are better than in Factory stores.

  5. Be careful eveyone! I have a 544$ (before taxes etc etc) order ready to check out and "SHOPITALL" is only giving me 75$ off instead of the stated 175!
    I am emailing them now.
PS - is anything going on at the B&M's today? This is an online promo only. If you have heard, please let me know.

    1. I phoned them. The Customer Service person said the will have "maintenance take a look at fixing the problem"
Strangely it worked last night just after midnight when I started putting things in my bag. This morning when actually trying to check out, this happened.
So be careful when ordering on this promo until it is fixed!

    2. hoping tomorrow....final sale is over. will not be doing this promo. nothing I really really want right now. hope other are finding it good though. C

    3. One more update...the 500$ level did not work when trying to place the order on the phone either. So they told me the 75 show up when applied (after a few tries) and they will credit me the remaining 100$ once the order ships.
Hope they get that fixed and that people are looking closely when ordering today, until it does! :-)

    4. Good point, C - it's about time for final sale to be turning into fall sale (up until Christmas Eve!).

    5. Just got off the phone with CS. The website is still showing both promotions (40% off and the free shipping one) and denying it. I am so annoyed. They made me feel that their errors are my fault or that I am incorrect even when I started over with a whole new attempted order. Not cool. At this point I don't even care that much about what was in my cart. Lost sale.

    6. Just ordered a couple of the cashmere hoodies (heather dove & black). Wanting some casual wear for fall/winter. Hoping these work out better than the featherweight cashmere hoodie I bought that pilled after a half day's wear. The reviews are good so fingers crossed...

    1. Great article! I never know if I'm doing it right with button downs, I always feel like my sleeve look a little to neat, and a little to tightly rolled. During my quest for the perfect sleeve roll I did found a pin on Pinterest that give step by step instructios😃It's all really funny when you think about it!

  7. Ordered the wool patio pant in vintage shell. Have had them on my wishlist like forever and they were always excluded. Been waiting for a promo like this one, so this morning I ordered them. And free shipping too, love that.

  8. Got a PA this morning and not a moment too soon. On the other hand the StJames tee is excluded from the EVERYTHING promo.

  9. I just bought a bunch of new sweaters and the Lightweight Wool Jackie wasn't being applied to the promo. Did an online chat and Customer Service is going to credit me the difference to get $175 off. I ended up doing two orders to get the most off and saved $200 today! Bought a cashmere cardi in Heather Plum, Lightweight Jackie cardi in Bight Ocean, Relaxed Wool Turtleneck Sweater in Black, Collection Cap Sleeve shirttail blouse in Autumn Floral, No. 2 pencil skirt in Halographic tweed, and Lace Applique Sweater in Navy Azurite.

If all of these pieces work, I'm about set for winter. Feeling like the latest roll-out is more familiar J.Crew. Not everything is great but there "seem" to be some winners.

  10. I bit on a few low stock items to get the biggest discount. Got the knotted sheath dress, plaid front sheath and Gemma glitter flats. I really didn't like much from the last roll out or need anything so these items should have me set for fall/early winter. The knotted sheath was always excluded from promo and looks to be a great three season dress. If final sale goes away I will consider a few things I have been eyeing. Other than that wil wait for next rollout.

    2. Sounds like they'll lose money on shipping costs for this one! Thanks for the review. I actually like a heavy weight coat, it feels warmer somehow, but this one sounds like you could get tired just by wearing it :) It looks really cute, though, and I'll keep an eye on it for a deep markdown some day.

  13. I visited a B&M yesterday and purchased the leopard print sweatshirt with the 25% off discount. Audrey did a review of it on her fabulous blog and I just had to have it. Surprisingly, the dropped shoulder does not bother me at all. I'm wearing it today over a chambray shirt and just love it. Found it to fit TTS for me.

  14. In case anyone is thinking about the campbell bi-stretch wool trouser, I ordered three sizes and none of them worked on me. I think my normal size fit OK but did my rear end no favors and felt too tight in the thigh and seat area to be office appropriate.

I can't tell if it's meant to be a slim-fitting pant or I need to size up. I'm kind of sad, as I've been wanting office appropriate wool trousers in a color other than navy, black, or grey, and these are so pretty. But too tight for the office, and I think sizing might just add weight.

I'm starting to think that j.crew pants just don't flatter my body shape. I have yet to find a pair that flatters me. The 1035 trouser and the "city fit" suiting pants look OK, but they are somewhat uncomfortable. I couldn't wear the bootcut jean, the matchstick jean, the cafe capri, the bristol pant, the minnie, -- all had uncomfortable rises and were too tight in the rear but too loose or just plain weird in the thigh, so I can't really size up or down!

Maybe I should just stick to skirts and dresses? I'm wearing Uniqlo trousers now, and they fit like a dream. I wonder what my problem is?

Anyone else look about 10 pounds heavier and 4 inches shorter every time s/he tries on a pair of j.crew pants?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes, me! J. Crew names their jeans things like Toothpick, Matchstick, Skinny, Slim. They're designing for a tall, straight, thin figure. I can wear some of them, but other retailers do a better job with fit (for me, anyway) and I've given up on J. Crew for them. There are some J. Crew styles that look absolutely terrible on me. They used to do a good job with this at J. Crew. The old style Matchsticks fit me well, so did the Cafe Capris and the old Minnies.

    2. Yeah I have such a hard time getting a good pant or jeans fit at JC but have had this issue for a couple years. I have a long torso but a high natural waist so all these really high rises are impossible to fit. I used to have luck with the city fit but of course the styles and colors I've been drawn toward the past couple seasons are the higher rise.

      Delete
    3. I share your struggles with Jcrew pants and gave up awhile back. I'm slender but still pear shaped, and their pants are always too tight in the rear to be work appropriate. The Minnie were the most unflattering pair of pants I've ever tried on - my hips looked enormous and my legs looked tiny! I've had good luck at the Limited & NY & Co., though the overall quality is not great.

      Delete
    4. I like loft pants. modern fit is my go to. J Crew pants were the worst ever for me. pretty much have tried all over the years....never ever found a pair.

      Delete
    5. Me too. I just ordered two sizes of the 1035 trouser in Super 120s wool, and neither fit me properly. I have a 31" inseam, so I tried the petites. The length was good and the P2 fit, but I also felt they were too tight in the rear and thigh to wear to work. The P4 were too big and made me look short(er) and stumpy and added at least 5 lbs.

I think all of the JCrew pants/jeans look horrible on me in the past few years, but I keep trying them haha. I'm short-waisted and slim-hipped with a bit of a booty. I figured it must be my body type doesn't work with their pants.

      Delete
    6. I finally tried on a number of the pants and am in agreement that the fit is off in many cases. For me...

Dislike: minnie (tts), martie (sized up one), patio (tts, but would try a size up before committing)

Like: cotton campbells (tts, petite preferred), ryder (tts, petite preferred), matte crepe trouser, (tts, reg preferred)

They're sold out, but I really liked the seaside pants (tts, petite preferred in the solid color). If they bring them back next year, I won't play the price waiting game.

      Delete
    7. Gigi, I accidentally put my seaside pants in the dryer. Disaster! I'm going to try to re-wash them and hang them dry and see if I can get some size back, but they shrunk a lot all around, particularly in length.

    8. I am just starting to try some JCrew pants again after swearing off everything but the Hutton trousers for several years (I am fully committed to high rise pants, to the extent that it is more like an obsession). So far, not great results for me--I had the same problem with the fabric on the Ryder pant that is extensively noted on the on-site reviews; I don't do pants with side/back zip or only elastic waist (e.g., matte crepe cropped pants); and I just ordered the Campbell bi-stretch wool trouser in the green, but, based on your comments, Flower Power, it sounds like I will be sending them back, too. I have found the broken-in boyfriend chino to be more promising, but there are the same kinds of sizing issues that others are commenting on in this thread (I currently have four new sizes on the way, hoping I find something among them that works, especially with the fatigue green color, which I quite like!).

I also ordered the Collection Preston Donegal Wool Pant in pink, astronomically priced for me and the pink may just not be work-appropriate, but we'll see. And so far this season, one of my most successful new pairs of pants is the mid-rise Harper trouser from Old Navy, which, in the cotton/spandex leopard print, cost about $25. They appear to have a new black dot print in the same fabric that I might try as well.

    9. I have to amend my post. I did really like the Sunday Slim Chinos this year and bought them in a few colors.

      Delete
    10. Thanks for all the info. I've been wanting to try some different styles and your thoughts are most appreciated.
In particular, I'm considering the Matte Crepe Trouser and Sunday Slim Chino. Any tips on sizing?

      Delete
    11. cate - Oh no! Try stretching them while they're wet, before you lay them down or hang them to dry. Good luck!

maryeb - I liked the matte crepe trouser. TTS for me, sz 6. I didn't like the $98 price point because they're still $70 - $75 on a full-price promo, before tax. However, they were really, really comfortable. I won't be surprised if I end up owning a pair.

I think I tried the Sunday slim chino and sized down to 4, judging how they looked on the hanger. I believe they run tts. However, I'm not 100% sure they were the ones I tried this summer and I definitely don't own a pair of them.

      Delete
    12. Sunday slims were a winner for me, but do note that sizing differs between colors. I took my regular 00 in baked terracotta and they fit like a dream, love the fabric, etc. Charcoal/gray color not so much - they ran big. I didn't try any other colors but my VPS said they varied.

I also really like the Ryder but haven't worn them enough to see if the fabric gets wonky on me. I desperately wanted the Minnie to work on me but I'm like the above commenter - slim but pear-shaped - and they show every line on me and make me look like a boat. It's almost a relief to see someone else had the exact same problem as I did.

Would second trying Limited if you have the same issues. Quality is meh (they have huge store wide discounts all the time, DO NOT pay full price) but I have several of their exact stretch skinny pants and they are nice enough and work appropriate. I've worn my tan pair to death this year and they are holding up well.

      Delete
    13. RJ, I thought the terracotta Sunday Slim chinos ran smaller too! I have them in blue and gray and I think a tan color, they all ran the same sizing-wise for me, just those terracotta ones were smaller.

  16. Sorry, OT but figure someone here is bound to be able to answer this - when should I look for my card rewards? This is my first round of rewards since I got my card and can't find any detailed info on how they work. Do I get multiple separate rewards cards or one big reward I have to use all at once, is there a minimum purchase, do they work at factory, etc... I tried on the factory peacoat last night and loved it. No weird boob pockets. Downside is it only comes in gray, black and green right now and I want navy.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi RJ - the reward period ended on 9/30/15, so the amount of your rewards is calculated then. You'll get a single gift card in the amount of the reward ($25 for every $500 spent). Based on previous cycles, I'd guess that reward cards will start to trickle in the mail in the first two weeks of November, and expire on December 15th, although lately JC has been extending the time to use the cards so they may not expire till the end of the year. Sometimes JC will email the rewards card number/PIN to you directly, and if you want to use rewards but haven't gotten a card yet I think that customer service can look them up and apply them to an order.

You can use the reward card at JC and Factory, and there's no minimum purchase needed to use them. I don't think you have to use it all at once, but I think in the past when the expiration date was looming, JCA's have rolled their rewards card balance onto a regular gift card since they have no expiration date. I do think that rewards cards are supposed to be used in conjunction with the JC card, so if you don't have enough in rewards to cover the purchase, the rest has to go on the JC card (although I don't know how strict they are about this, maybe someone else can chime in).

Hope this helps - that was kind of a rewards brain dump! : )
