This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
I may have the time to drive over to Orlando this weekend. If anyone sees any good sales over at The Mall At Millenia or at Orlando International Premium Outlets let me know. It may sway me more towards braving the I-4.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh D*ska , I was there over the weekend...maybe passed you ;). I picked up the silk drapey blouse @ 25%off in store. Nice.
DeletePretty big update in the sale section this morning
ReplyDeleteThere was but a lot of things were sold out as early as 6 am !
ReplyDeleteOT: New promo going on at Madewell - get 25% off (almost) everything when you purchase jeans. Always so much to love at Madewell, too. I shared my personal picks in this post for anyone interested in checking it out. :)

ReplyDeleteNo store visit for me, but I did order the MacAlister zip wedge boots in faded chino at 50% off this morning after seeing them on Ina's IG account. I've been looking for a pair of wedge booties in a neutral shade, and these appear to be a great option...excellent price, too!
ReplyDeleteI'll be making a visit since I want to try the Relaxed Merino Wool Pullover Sweater (e2176) and the Midi Sweater-Skirt (e4349) since they're part of the 25% off promo. The sweater at least seems to have pretty good reviews, so I'm hopeful.
ReplyDeleteI made the trek to the clearance store and picked up a pair of the calf hair sloans...I am obsessed with that style and these are gorgeous. I am so surprised at how comfortable they are and how nice they look on your feet. I also picked up a cream excursion vest (I think I may be up to 8) but I never bought a cream one, so it's OK, right? I have been wanting a maroon/burgandy bag and I found the Madewell lafayette bucket bag in dark cabernet. It is the most gorgeous bag and super nice quality, the cabernet color is perfect for me. You got 40% off your total if you got 6 items so I picked up an umbrella and a black Bennett crossbody bag, it has a royal blue lining, thus the name, Black Ocean. If you are in the area, go by. This is one of the highest percentage off they have had in quite some time. I think I spent a little over $200.00 for all this.
ReplyDeleteDoodle Dachshund - sounds like a wonderful trek! Congratulations on getting such great deals! I would love to have the Lafayette Bag in the dark cabernet, especially. So glad to hear that it's gorgeous, IRL! :)
DeleteAnother fruitful trip! I LOVE the 40% off deals; every time I've gone to the Lynchburg location in the last few months they've been running that promo!
DeleteI think they do vary the promos by location as the emails they send out are specific to the Arden store. I think that last time I went it was only 15% off with certain items at special prices. Not as good a deal overall. They have had one of the collection suede and shearling satchels forever and they told me today that someone finally bought it because of the 40% off. It retailed for $595.00 I think and they had it for $395.00, so now $237.00. I guess that was a good deal if you like it.
DeleteGreat buys DD. So wish I lived near those clearance stores! Big sigh!!!!
DeleteI think I'm going to make a weekend out of it- I'm only 3.5 hours away-- what else is there to do around there? Any wineries?
DeleteYes. You would love Biltmore. I think they have their own winery. The Grovepark is also there and a great place to stay. The Grand Bohemian is also fabulous. All this is about 10 minutes away. A very nice new outlet mall is just 3 miles from the clearance store. It has a J.Crew factory store. I stopped there last time really just for the restroom as I really don't care for factory stuff but lots of other good outlets. If you like Dillard's, there is a big Dillard's outlet. If you go in the fall, the foliage is beautiful. My drive over the mountain the other day was great. The trees were beautiful, the road is windy and two tunnels to drive through for me. Love to honk my horn through the tunnels. :)
DeleteI stopped in but nothing caught my eye.
ReplyDeletePopped in for a quick look - the violet poppy print is lovely on all the items. All the buffalo plaid items equally great. But all of the prices have been hiked as expected and Canadian prices in store are now 30% higher than US, up from 10-15% higher in the past. New little price stickers on all the tags. As I have not had a 15% raise in pay, I just did a quick check of the sale rack (extra 40% off) but sadly nothing interested me. My money has been going elsewhere lately, though I do keep looking - it's too hard to justify the cost unless something I want hits sale+% off. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI popped in as well. While checking out the sale rack I noticed one of the seams at the back neckline collar of the featherweight cashmere sweaters had split open widely! It made me question the quality of their cashmere and seam strength on their sweaters! To their credit the split occurred where the security tag was so perhaps the weight of the tag caused the long term stretch and split. Anyways on that note how are the cashmere quality this yr? Any thoughts? I would look elsewhere but J Crew gets me with the pretty colors.
ReplyDelete@ymous1975, I've bought 3 cashmere pieces on sale recently, but have only worn 1. It was the featherweight cashmere hoodie in grey. Pilled ridiculously after a half-day wear. Wasn't final sale, but even if it was, I'd return for poor quality. I'm returning it this weekend. Will see what happens with the boyfriend vnevk sweater & sweatpants I purchased. To be fair, this is the first real quality issue I've had with JC.
DeleteYmous1975 - if you go online and read the reviews for the cashmere boyfriend v neck; it's not good. Some posted that the quality has gone down even more. So sad. Cutting corners for profit. Been wanting the order the boyfriend v neck, but I don't know now. Might go to Everlane instead, lucky I only wanted the grey color.
DeleteSome great news in the fashion press this morning ... J. Crew is eliminating on-call shifts for its employees. I hope more retailers follow (Gap, Victoria Secret have done so too). Glad to hear they are listening to employees and doing away with this cost-saving but abusive employment practice, yay!
ReplyDeleteStopped by to make a return. I really like the poppy print in the pant. Love the colors, and the material. Also saw the leopard Tippi, IRL. I didn't try it because I was in a hurry, but it's the same quality as that polka dot Tippi in cream. Flimsy thin. Why is it thin while the solid colors thick?? I'll have to see what outfits I can pair it with when I receive the package but I'm a little turned off but the quality. And the price?! Not worth $98..even with 25% off.
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of that leopard Tippi at all. I don't understand the love. It's cheap and flimsy. You could get the same sweater at the Bon Ton or Khol's. Crewlade in full effect on that one. And don't get me started on the garish red houndstooth blazer, the same old, same old floral prints or the tacky "jewelry." Shudder. There's a little to love at J.Crew this season, but there's a lot of YIKES, too. I'm a broken record at this point, but what is in the stores is uninspired at best, and a parody of itself at worst. I hope someone can turn this ship around.
DeleteYea, kind of bummed about the Leopard Tippi. I was inspired by how Loeffler Randall styled their leopard coat but I can't afford $1K on a coat, so the Tippi would be a good alternative.
DeleteI had to return these earrings I ordered. I was turned off by how plasticky it was...cheap.
BTW, Did you receive your Madewell sweater skirt?
DeleteThe jewelery lately....has been dreadful. who is designing this crap.
Delete@JSR, I did! It's very nice. Substantial weight, without being bulky, love the design of it being slightly longer in the back. Definitely a winner.
DeleteBlakemdjohns, JCrew's current design as "a parody of itself" is the best description I've heard of JCrew's woes in a long time. Bravo!
DeleteAny Canadian shoppers getting any deals ? are there any good sales going on ? wondering if it is worth the trip to the downtown Vancouver stores ( like the robsen st one better for quanity over the pacific centre one )
ReplyDeleteI pulled the trigger on the Majesty Peacoat that is so disappointing to many this season. The price for the blue was good and CS allowed a "one-time" return on it as a final sale item. Although, I also ordered the Ines de la Fressange peacoat by Uniqlo last night too. The lines are so beautiful...why couldn't J. Crew take a hint from designs such as that? :(
ReplyDeleteDetailed reviews of the J. Crew Faux-Leather Pleated Midi Skirt , the J. Crew Faux-Leather Pleated Midi Skirt , and the J. Crew Lace Applique and Jeweled Wool Back-Zip Sweaters
ReplyDeleteHTH!
oops, I meant to include this review, too J. Crew Collection A-Line Midi Skirt in Italian Wool Blend
Deletemaybe I am the only one but
ReplyDelete- I do not like the voilet poppy print
- I do not like the patio pants
- even the coats are short this year...the chateau parka for example'. the skirts dresses...way too short.
and a big apology to all tall JCA's because at 5'5'' I am ordering everthing in tall from now on.
That's fine, I understand they are too short for me @5'11". I'm glad you are finding something you like. They only talls that worked for me are the "favorite" blouses which are too long for most buyers.
DeleteI'm 5'8 and long to pick up a cozy plaid flannel shirt that is not too short from a Jcrew store. I try to get things in "tall" online , on the rare occasion they have stock, but I am also a disgruntled Canadian customer fed up with the insane canadian prices.
DeleteAt least you can take your online purchases back to a jcrew store with an RMA form and they mail it back for you, but not the same as being able to return at the store and get a credit faster.
In any event, I feel that 5'8 should not require me to buy tall sizes. For my last online purchase, I bought the embellished cardigan on sale, and laughed when I tried it on. The length barely passed my belly button. Thankfully they let me return it even though it was final sale.
Hi Sunny, I've taken a few items from online back to a Canadian store (didn't have a RMA) and they processed it right there in store and I received the credit to my visa then without having to wait. I've done this three or four times. Has this changed?
DeleteHave you returned an online item and experienced something different? Thanks!
It was my first time today. I just went by what the SA told me. She went in the back with the two items to process the return and was gone for about 10 minutes. When she came back she said they mail it back, and in about two weeks I would get a credit on my card once the process the items in the US. This was at Eaton Centre. Perhaps the SA was misinformed. She did not 'seem' new. I found the SA less than helpful a bit later when I asked her to about another item I was interested in finding. Ended up getting great help with that item at another Jcrew, so maybe it was not a strong SA. Thanks for clarifying Jan!
DeleteSunny, that's so different than my returns- the store processed them at the cash register and I received an email from Borderfree right after. The credit showed on my visa within 2 days or so each time. The SA had to print me a receipt from their printer rather than the cash register though.
DeleteReturned a skirt i took a gamble on (not really "me"). Nothing else caught my eye. I have noticed more sizing issues lately. For example, i ordered some button down shirts in my previous normal size 2 but compared to last year's, the shoulders and arms are tighter. But if i go up to a size 4, then the body is much larger.
ReplyDeleteAnyway. Nothing lately i had to have. Hoping there's something in a future rollout
Expecting a few try-ons to be delivered the coming week, then I'll probably wait until next time. I have mixed feelings about how I want the try-ons to work out, but ---
ReplyDeleteI stopped in to try the fleece vest in the next size up, and meant to try the patio pant (forgot-boy aging stinks :/). Anyway, did try the sleeveless drapey popover in clover. I like the print a lot, but the top was blah on me. Also, I never would have believed it was silk if the tag hadn't said so-I would've sworn it was polyester (the texture was totally polyester to me). Tried the leopard print with cobalt from the last rollout, both the silk top and the sweater. The sweater was cringe worthy (cropped, dropped sleeve, quality seemed iffy), and the silk top was ok, but I'm trying to stop buying things that are just ok on me. Also tried the faux leather pocket shift (sale section)-super short on me, and fabric seemed inexpensive. The colors from the new rollout items were striking and lovely (mainly sweaters), but I can't fit any more sweaters in the closet. Love the coat colors in the new catalog, but again will have to purge some things before that will work...
ReplyDeletei find the clover print...but not for fall/winter. same with some of the other new stuff. seems like they have the seasons mixed up.
DeleteWendy, I agree about the sleeveless drapey popover in clover. I thought it was poly when I first took it out of the bag when I received my online order. It definitely does not feel like any other silk shirt I own from J.Crew, yet the tag claims it is silk.
DeleteOT, but there's a gray size 10 Lexington on Poshmark listed for $35 if anyone is looking-seller is mishy515. Not my listing, but seemed like a good price-I know these are hard to find. IMO size 10 would best fit a size 8.
ReplyDeleteSo an hour ago online there were tons of excursion vests online...I just went back online and every single size and every single colour has suddenly sold out. No way that is possible.
ReplyDeleteSunny - Keep checking. Their system is probably updating...it happens from time to time when i check.
DeleteThanks JSR :-)
DeleteStopped by my local store to return the Petite Matchstick Cone Denim Jean in Preston Wash (item e2257). I had so much trouble with this particular pair of jeans -- fell in love with the color when I saw it in the store. Tried & bought a Regular size even though I'm 4'11". Returned that pair because they were just too tight, despite what I kept telling myself; the SAs reassured that the pant would stretch and no doubt that's true, but they just felt too tight. Ordered the petite one size up, and after waiting a long time because they were backordered, was disappointed with the now-too roomy fit in the seat area. Also, for some reason, this pair of Petite seemed more whiskered than the Regular size (i even compared the 2 in stores when I went to return mine.) Bummer, because I really liked this shade of blue, different than any other pair I have. Just not meant to be!
ReplyDeleteNot in the market for anything else right now (i'd love to replace my old, long winter wool coat, but I don't love the textured fabric of the Lady Day Coat and I'm not crazy about the collar on the Regent coat (despite loving their color selection.)
