JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Styling idea for the side-slit soft pencil skirt on my blog today.

  2. If anyone is considering the Factory denim jacket, I styled the carbon one with a Gap maxi dress here. I like the fit much better than the retail Nolita jacket (that one was too short for me), so much so that I'm considering getting it in the lighter color too (I think it would look great with white jeans and a grey tee!)

  3. I have an oldie. .. I just bought the kauai floral skirt off eBay and I could use some extra styling ideas on what to wear with it.

Dina wore it on her blog a while back:

  4. Just a question about rash guards. I ordered one after a chat with the online rep in an xs. I usually wear an XS/0/2 and this thing is sliiiimmmmm fitting! whew!
I have observed how rash guards fit my boys and my husband, slim but loose, and was wondering if this is how it's supposed to be. Do they stretch a bit in water? I don't think it will ride up or anything... I have a Peter Pilotto one from Target and that is a sloppy mess in comparison.

    1. I think rash guards are supposed to be slim fitting but I did go with the larger of my usual sizes when I bought mine last year. my bathing suits are XS and my rash guard is a S. it doesn't really stretch out or anything in water in my experience.

    2. It fits me like a second skin!

    3. The J. Crew "Sun Shirt" is a loose fitting version of a rash guard. For anyone who doesn't like the snug fit of a rash guard (me!) it might be a good option.

  7. Does anyone own the metallic slip-on Vans? And if so, how are you styling them? I'm stalking them in case they pop back. Bobbi Brown mentioned them in a recent article in Health magazine and it piqued my interest.

    1. Hi Danielle - I have them and LOVE them. Careful when ordering as they are listed in Mens sizes - so I took a Mens 7 and always wear a Womens 8.5. I wear them with jeans and the Andie Chinos in piped and olive green. I haven't tried them yet with any skirts. Oh and they are cute with the Andie Shorts. They are neutral and go great with everything. I have the Ecru Denim Jacket and they look great with that, too. I have received a lot of compliments on them. You may have luck with the We Will Find It service - that's how I got mine.

    2. I've also seen them on Piperlime so you may want to check there - free shipping both ways.

  8. I need help styling the JC x Piamata monkey pants. (https://s7.jcrew.com/is/image/jcrew/A3125_ED7092_m?$pdp_fs418$)
I love them but I really didn't think beyond the fitting room when I got them. (plus they're super soft)
They have an elastic waistband but can be covered with a belt (they have belt loops). They've got cuffs and pockets. I'd like to be able to wear them to work. (I don't work in a creative environment but I don't have to wear suits either) I can get away with a more business casual look now that it's warmer. And I usually wear a heel in the office (kitten heels) or a platform wedge sandal after Memorial Day. Any ideas?
