This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!
I will defintely be visiting this weekend! I've been so busy with work and family obligations. I'm looking forward to getting some new items with the red card.
ReplyDeleteBTW, does anyone know if you can use the educator discount when making a purchase with the red card?
ReplyDeleteIf anyone happens to come across the carmicheal top in XS could you please post which store? Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteHollylovescrew, I am pretty sure the educator discount won't apply on top of the red card.
ReplyDeleteThe faded paisley flouncette blouse in white ash is ringing up in B&Ms for 29.99. I visited two this past week that had them in stock and they were still marked as the old sale price (49.99), but the tags were just outdated.
ReplyDeleteSub
ReplyDeleteI do plan on going this weekend...can't wait! :)
ReplyDeleteNew items added to final sale:
ReplyDeleteSwish tank (wood and moss)
Tulipe cami (moss)
Tiered silk ruffle cami
Vintage bateau top in pink
Atomic tweed mini
Gilded plaid pencil skirt
Autumn plaid scarf
Waffled cashmere cardigan
Annie vest
On further markdown:
Betsy cami
Katzy cami
Both Traversa cardigans
Moto zip ruffle sweater
I think there are a bunch more but this is what stuck out right away.
I will be visiting tomorrow morning. Hoping for some good markdowns and trying on the new items.
ReplyDeletehoping some of the new coats pop up in the stores (hello double cloth colletta coat... i'm lookin' at you) so i can use the red/white card... if anyone spots some of those coats in the NJ area, give a shout out please! :)
ReplyDeleteOooh silver lining the two colors of the Swish Tank that went on sale are the 2 I'm interested in.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone own the Swish Tank or can you comment on the fit? I am a bit concerned about how the top will look over a 34D chest like mine.
Don't like that it's STILL final sale online, though
ReplyDeleteI'll be going. Just heard that my store has cashmere cardigans and v-necks for $99.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the Goldenrod Brocade top? I'm hoping my store has it so I can try it on.
Have a great weekend!
I'm going this AM to see new arrivals and use my Red Card. I am hoping they'll let me use it to order the Icon wool coat and a pair of boots from the red phone too.
ReplyDelete@jruby18
ReplyDeletelet us know if the red card can be used when ordering on the red phone! :)
Jruby18 and Miss JR, I used the red card with the red phone this week to order the Icon coat, and the Colletta coat. I didn't have any problems. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday, JCAs! I am going to stop in the store after work and order the Arrow sweater coat in heather caramel over the red phone with the 25% off. Also might get the petite trouser cords in another color. Still hoping to see the Darla ruffle cami IRL.
ReplyDeleteif anyone is able to post or email me a pic of the Arrow sweater jacket in heather caramel IRL, I'd love to see it. jyeh29@yahoo.com. Seems like everyone I follow got the heather elm color.
ReplyDeletesub
ReplyDeleteJulieY: Commonwealth Girl has some IRL pics of the Arrow on her blog. You can see them here and here. (Tastymoog, hope you don't mind!)
ReplyDeleteDid anyone buy the Swish tank and if so, how is the fit? Are you happy with it?
ReplyDeleteLizzyT, I have the goldenrod brocade top and while I'm usually a size 0/XS, I found this to be a bit snug (esp in the arms and shoulders) so I sized up for a slightly looser fit. It's not oversized by any means so I went with a 2 just for a little extra comfort.
ReplyDeleteSwish tank: I ordered the swish tank last week but it's being returned today :(
ReplyDeleteIt runs large so I would definitely size down. The v-neck hangs very low too and the swish wasn't as pretty as I thought it would be. It was a little saggy and wasn't laying flat. If you look back at the picture of the model she has a shirt wrapped around her waist. I think this was to disguise the "blossoming" effect of the swish and to make it lie flat. \
Another strange thing I noticed is the hem of the tank. The thread they used is a weird plastic material and the way it was sown makes it look like a bunch of tiny pin marks. It is hard to explain but if you saw the tank irl you would definitely understand.
I did like how the tank was fully lined though. It felt very nice on the skin. It just wasn't it worth it to me in the end.
Sorry for the super long comment I hope this helps!
The Faded Paisley Founcette blouse in white ash is very pretty and feminine! I wore it with black pants and got several compliments throughout the day! I am usually a 0/2 and I went with the 2 and it fit perfectly! I haven't tried it under a sweater, but the black bling button sweater is the one that I am planning on pairing it with.
ReplyDeleteI have a 20% off web coupon that came in my catalog that I'm not going to use (and I assume I can pass on to someone else). It's valid through Sunday.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone would like it please email me at shrekinafrock(at) yahoo dot com. First person to email get's it, if you don't hear back from me that means it's gone.
Terms and conditions include: valid only at jcrew.com through Oct 3, 2010. Valid on any amount. One time use only, not valid on gift cards, bridal, vintage, one-of-kind, or third party merchandise. Can't be used with any other promotion or at factory stores (don't know if tht includes online factory.)
Hope this makes someone happy!
no prob appgal, thanks for the shoutout. :)
ReplyDeletepudding and the post-fab princess also has IRL photos of the arrow sweater on her blog (in the elm/moss color).
Does anyone recall JC doing a % off promo for skirts in recent years?
ReplyDeleteSub.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle!
ReplyDeleteHollylovescrew,
ReplyDeleteI was able to use my student discount along with the red card so I don't see why it shouldn't work for educators as well.
Clicquot, I remember promos on dresses but don't recall seeing one on skirts. I buy a lot of skirts from J.Crew and would love to see a skirt promo!

ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the McAlister wedge booties? I've been eyeing them for a while as a comfortable fall/winter boot with enough height to make the leg line flattering but not so high I'd feel silly wearing them to casual functions (football games, etc).
ReplyDeleteI normally a 6 1/2; should I size up or down since they only come in whole sizes? Thanks!
Hollylovescrew: As per J.Crew corporate, the 25% discount cannot be combined with the student or educator discounts. Those who have received both have been lucky as their cases are exceptions to the rule.
ReplyDeletemichelle: thanks for the info on the swish tank. :)
ReplyDeletei had just ordered it yesterday in two sizes - including one size down since it looks like it could have some draping issues. hopefully the smaller of the two will work! ;) i'll post my thoughts when i get it (next week sometime). i'm curious about that hem business...
Connor, I bought the MacAlister wedges and they were very nice. I sized up us suggested and it was a good fit especially if you plan on wearing socks with them. They are cool and casual and the wedge height is great. I would have no problem wearing them to casual functions. Bear in mind that they are unlined, so I am not sure how they will hold over time. I have returned mine because I got a pair of almost identical wedges from Coach at much better price and quality.
ReplyDeleteThe Coach wedges are insanely comfortable, possibly the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. They are lined and padded and they fit snugglier around the ankle. I LOVE them! This is the link to Lord and Taylor but you can get them elsewhere:
http://www.lordandtaylor.com/eng/coach-shoes-CASSY_WEDGE-lordandtaylor/149554
Coupon has gone. Have a good weekend ladies!
ReplyDeleteAJC, thank you! You are awesome to point me to a better alternative (esp since the McAlister bootie is back-ordered until 12/27!). Will definitely check out the Coach Cassy wedges -- I see Macy's carries them (and that's with a 6-month return policy-ha!).
ReplyDeleteConnor, I am glad you like the Coach wedges.
ReplyDeleteRecently, I found that the best cure for crewlade overdose is a visit to upscale department stores. I got my Coach wedges in Bloomingdales. I used to go to Ann Taylor or BR and I thought I still like JC better, but once I stopped at Saks and Bloomies I am so over J Crew shoes. When I compared prices, return policy, service and quality I decided I must be brain washed to even consider J crew at FP. After I bought the wedges with 15% off I got the coupon in the mail for $25 off $100 no restrictions. Read this J Crew.
What's up with man made lined, uncomfortable shoes being more expensive than designer shoes?I am not talking about MacAlisters but take Mara wedges. It seems like with the quality they are more in line with those:
http://www.target.com/Merona-Myka-Suede-Wedge-Shoes/dp/B003ANW05C
btw, I got them and for the price they are awesome!
Sorry for the rant. I don't like to do it but I could not help myself. Now I must run to look for alternatives to Coddigtons that I still like against my better judgement. Have a great weekend everyone. I will not be stopping at J Crew because I am going to Cape May for a romantic (hopefully) weekend with hubs.
thanks, tres trippy! i ordered a bigger size just in case that would be true for me. hope it works.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@AJC, good advice for getting over the Crewlade! Agree w/your comment on cheap shoe materials, that's why I've never bought JC shoes; so glad you pointed me to the Coach ones.
ReplyDeleteRe: Coddington platforms, have you seen the Cole Haan Air Talia ($198) and Air Stephanie ($298)? Pricey, yes, but so many dept stores carry them that they're bound to go on sale at some point if you can wait. Not sure which Coddington color you're pining for, but the Talia comes in a gorgeous aubergine & the Stephanie in a dark pine green; also grey in both styles. Just something else to check out though I haven't tried these on yet. I have a couple of Cole Haan pumps w/the Air Nike technology and they are so comfy!

Enjoy your romantic weekend!
Just back from a rare b&m visit (that 25% off card is working!)...wild mushroom jackies are on sale for $39.99, Calista Cami is $29.99 in stores ($39.99 online). Other prices were similar to online as far as I could tell.
ReplyDeleteGot the Calista in the dark rosewood (just stunning, IRL) and the Jackie. I'm happy I waited because I couldn't see spending $62.00, as beautiful as the color is...
w/ Silverlining, here are the other items added to FS online:
ReplyDeleteJackie Cardi & Shell in Wild Mushroom
Cashmere Popover Hoodie
Cashmere Zipfront Hoodie
Cashmere Shawl Popover
Cashmere Zip Cardigan
Cashmere Cody Cardi
(is there a theme here??)
Sofie Ruffle Cardi
Petit Four Cardi
Dream V Neck Cardi
Dream V Neck
Flannel Getaway Tunic
Flannel Tuxedo Tunic
What gets me is I'm reading from other posters that some of these items are marked down in the B&M stores, so customers with the red/white card will get an additional 25% off, while those of us who don't have a discount, will have to suck up paying higher prices PLUS pay shipping. Hmmm.
not been to b&m today. but thought i'd share that i have the black and brown britten short boots (got in my true 7.5 and not jcrew 8) and love them! also got the miller short moto boots in 7.5 (the brownstone is a little odd in that it is whitish in parts...debating a return) and love, love, love the studded ballet flats (black leather and suede) in 7.5 all at 25% off with white/red card. i also love my vintage toothpick, matchstick and bootcut cords as well as the striped pocket t and the alpaca long cardi in cream and heather ombre or something like that.
ReplyDeleteCloset Crisis: I agree - it's unfair that the sale items are attainable by some with the additional 25% off. I should stand by my other JC sisters and brothers and not buy. I'm weak! :/
ReplyDeleteThe only consolation I can offer is that the stock was terrible at the store I was in for the sale items. Lots of sizes had been picked over and I'm sure they wouldn't let me place an order of the red phone for the sale items. Hopefully, the playing field will be more even next time and *everyone* will be able to benefit from a decent discount.
Hi Beth -- Did you get the flat Britten boots or the platform booties? I'm a 7 in everybody else's shoes, but J. Crew heels especially require me to go up a half size. Any guess on the platforms?
ReplyDeletethanks!
ajc-
ReplyDeletethanks for the tip on the coach wedges. i checked them out and am now obsessed with them. even though i don't need them, WANT them! love the sand color.
@audball: don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge any JCA's who got the discount card, but the distribution of the card seems totally random, and anti-intuitive if your goal is to move stock.
ReplyDeleteFrankly I think JC would do much better if they got rid of FS online so people can try on sales items and return them if they don't fit/don't like the colours. Sale items in B&M stores are not FS. If I got to try them on in store, chances are I'd keep the items. So shopping online I'm being penalized doubly (pay extra AND take my chances with FS). Does that make sense? I'm rambling but it's been a long week. :P
OT - After reading about Dina Gideon's love for Boden I decided to place an order. I received my items today and I totally love everything. Well made and very pretty clothes. I've already got new items in my cart, lol. J.Crew has been really drab lately IMO and Boden has quite a lot of lovely colors and feminine styles. Thanks again Dina!
ReplyDeleteI agree on the designer vs. J. Crew shoes...if I am going to spend the $$ I need to see the quality. What will always keep me running back to guzzle the crewlade is probably the sweaters....at this moment I am happily filling a cart with the cashmere popover, the cashmere waffled cargidan, the rimini cardigan (has anyone seen the paradise blue color IRL? Looks so pretty but worried it might actually be neon green or something), the moto zip sweater....hopefully someone will knock some sense into me before I hit checkout. (Did I mention I live in Florida? I won't need a sweater for at least another month, much less 3....
ReplyDeleteA few nice mark downs in store right now... as well as some awesome new merchandise (love love love the sequin sweatshirt!!).
ReplyDeleteI got the Calista cami on sale for $79.99 (down from $118),,,,, would be a great steal for those of you lucky darlings who have a red card!!! I posted a few pics on my blog of it.... great colors!
oops! thought I should clarify.... it's the chiffon cecilia that has all the greens, purples, pinks and browns in it that is $79.99.. Audball posted about the solid ones, and she is right, they are a steal at $29.99!!
ReplyDeleteAre only the solid colors of the calista cami on sale for $29.99? I really liked the flecked pattern one but would love it even more if it was $29.99 :)
ReplyDeleteCloset Crisis: No worries - I understood exactly where you were coming from... : ) Do something nice for yourself this weekend to unwind...
ReplyDeleteFS bites...who wants to take those chances?
I did want to add (and this is a perfect example), I tried on the dark rosewood calista cami in an 8..a little generous in the armhole, so I size down to a 6. I also tried the Cecilia Cami and the Confetti Ruffle Cami..the 8 seems tight in both styles! So how would I know this if I order online exactly? So I try to stick to ordering online if I've tried in-store first...but I'm SOL with petite skirts and pants. Always a higher risk guessing game...
(sigh)
Michelle: From what I can remember, the flecked Calista was more at my store. I wish I had paid more attention to the price, but I know they put it in a completely different section as well and I was specifically eyeing "cheaper" for me LOL. Also, the Bettina cami was $29.99 in-store (vs. $19.99 online).
ReplyDeleteI had no problem ordering over the red phone and using my red card for those who were wondering. I went in today and there were some new sweaters. I tried on the grandpa sweater w/the pockets. Too long. There was a cute sweater w/zippers that went all the way around the neckline and down. Very cute, but didn't get it. Loved the color of it, though. It was a deep olive-y green but w/some reddishness to it. I tried on the Merino sweatshirt which is $49.50 in store promo - even w/the 25% off I didn't get it even though the colors are fab. I have a grey one (or something very similar from spring). It's cute but I got too much other stuff! I bought the moto zipper cardi in the deep raisin color. It's really cute when you unzip it at the top and bottom and have a shirt peeking out. Also, got a sweater (can't remember the name) but it's light grey and has a little bit of a sequin type lining along the button area. I had seen it styled super cute in a magazine under a blazer. Oh, and one more thing. I'd been wondering about the Naeva dress. So, they had one in the store. It was my size and $99, so w/the 25% off, it was $75. OMG, it is fabulous! I just need to have the shoulder straps raised a little, which is a simple alteration. Love that dress!
ReplyDeleteSought...did not find. I brought my Red Card with me, tried on 2 sweaters, and did not see anything else that appealed to me. Both sweaters were too big (I tried the Cashmere Zip-pocket one & a sweater that I don't believe is online yet) and not worth the $. :( :( :(
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for new arrivals, though. I'm hoping to take advantage of the card.
xoxo,
ReplyDeleteGlad yoy liked you Boden order. I started ordering from them when I lived in England. They have some really nice pieces. I love the military/band jacket I got there last season. The quality of the wool and the unique color combo of light blue/brown is just outstanding:)
fidele- i got the britten short flat boots, not booties!. so not sure if my experience counts, but i got my real size..not jcrew size (7.5 not 8)
ReplyDeleteWent into the JC at the Domain in Austin today. SA told me that the items they had just gotten in were the last fall roll out. Holiday will come in at the end of Oct. Tried on the Lace Tee ($110). It's really cute and would look great even with just a pair of jeans ....however, I was afraid of it just trying it on. Lots of loose threads to snag and catch. Even when I tried it on, the tag got caught in one of the thread loops and I was afraid I would tear it! I bought the vintage bateau in the bright orange/red color(they had lots of these in all colors) and also bought the Beaded Ruffle Cardi ($55). This is a cotton knit with decorative trim on the front. Will look great with jeans and a tee or more dressed up, too!
ReplyDeleteWill be making another trip to the B&M tomorrow or Sunday...received a FS order today and the Forever cardi that I ordered (in the Champagne color) had a big ink (?) stain on the middle of the back of the sweater! I called CS and they OK'd me to returned it even though it was a final sale item. Disappointing, though! It would have been a great deal @ $23!
xoxo:
ReplyDeleteAw, shucks! :) I am so glad to hear you love the items you ordered from Boden. I have had to scale way back on my recent purchasing, but a little part of me is really excited to see what I can get on sale in (I believe) November/December. (But don't fret, I pre-ordered a few Boden goodies back in June for this fall!)
Which ones did you order? There are some very pretty, well-cut, and feminine pieces out there.
Have a nice night, all!
XOXO,
ReplyDeleteI would love to know if you ordered any Boden blouses and how they fit.
I just received a Boden wool vest with grey and purple polka-dots. I've worn it to work three times this week!
Claire, its been about a month now, but I did see the Paradise Blue and really liked it. If I remember correctly, its a tad bluer than the picture.
ReplyDeleteTXMOM, I ordered the Forever Cardigan months ago and it came with a pretty big run in it. Since it was on popback, I was pretty upset, but the store managed to fix it, for free. I'm not confident that they can remove ink, but if you REALLY want it, you might ask them.
I emailed JC to ask about using the 25% card on the red phone (wanted proof just in case I was told no at my b&m) and was told no in the email. Told me I could ask at my store, but it was for store-use only. Sure do wish they'd get their stories straight, although I have a feeling we'll all be wishing for that forever!
ReplyDeleteMath Teacher,
ReplyDeleteI placed a couple orders on phone at the store using my 25% card. The orders were started by the PS telling them I had the card. I'm not sure if that makes a difference but it was no problem on either end.
mini t, I'm going to ask, but I'm guessing I'll be told no. Oh, well, I'll just continue to wait for 30% off sale. :)
ReplyDeletei went to the towson B&M to finally use my mickey card yesterday after work. i tried on a ton of stuff, but only left with a pair of bootcut cords in a deep purple that doesn't seem to be online (on promo for 69), a tank with little sparkles all over it (24.99), the lace ruffle tank (12.99) and a fog colored jackie. The jackie was also on sale but rang up full price. i didn't notice until i looked at my receipt on the way home. i will need to go back today to get a price adjustment. (grrr)
ReplyDeleteOT - so if you don't want to read about Boden then please skip my post!
ReplyDeleteDina and SE Mom, I bought these items:
Ravello silk top in navy pop spot.
Colorblock dress in navy/purple.
Roma dress in navy abstract spot.
As well as a tee I can't seem to find, similar to J.Crew's twist knot tee, only not quite as low cut and there is no seam down the middle.
I was really impressed with the quality, the Ravello silk top is finished with french seams and is machine-washable on delicate, of course. I wore it last night and liked it so much that I placed another order last night including the Ravello in the grey pop spot. I got so many compliments and looks, my husband joked that I can only wear the top when we go out together. LOL
SE Mom, I am between size 8-10 in J.Crew tops and ordered Boden size 10. Everything fits without room to spare on top. I may take the bottom of the dresses in since I'm 4-6 on the bottom and there is a lot of extra room but they are dresses so maybe will just leave them flowy.
Dina, thanks for the advice on the sales, I will be stalking!
about the red card being used on the red phone. i know that it is good for red phone orders from what everyone here has said... but when i wanted to place a red phone order with it the other day, the SA called CS to make sure it was OK before i placed my order. of course CS said it was OK. i am very grateful for the card but come-on...why don't they print on the card that it's good for the in-store red phone and save all this runaround. the SA's should know for sure. why does everything have to be so scandalous with jcrew lately? :/
ReplyDeleteI agree about the Red Card; I wish they'd be consistent. The SA at my store wasn't sure if it could be used on the Red Phone, so she had to ask when she placed the call for me. Fortunately, they approved it.
ReplyDeleteActually, the SA didn't seem that familiar with the card. (That's not a slam on her because she was pleasant and attentive.) Maybe they didn't send too many here to the grungy PNW?
lol hexicon (grungy PNW). but yea, my SA's are always very attentive and helpful too. i'm wondering if they simply aren't being told the full details of the red card. i bought a few things in-store and then place the red phone order for what wasn't available in store. :)
ReplyDeleteccbmum: I think JC tries to create this perception of excellent customer service by "allowing" people to order from the red phone with the Mickey card even though like another JCA who emailed about it got cold shoulder.
ReplyDeleteI do love excellent customer service but I wish they'd be more consistent. Ok, not putting the new return policy on the receipt is NOT cool. If I didn't visit the JCA blog I wouldn't have known about it.
So, I went in to the store couple days ago to return some stuff I hadn't worn yet since I didn't get my Mickey card and I wasn't feeling much love from JC. The manager who processed my returns absolutely denied that managers/PS could submit the names of clients for this Mickey card. He said it was totally random. I don't buy that. I told him that it would have been great if it was a "F&F" type of promo and rewarded all JC card holders. He said he would pass it along to the corporate but I doubt anyone would listen.
Anyways, every single person in line had the card so I told him, why on earth would I purchase stuff for 25% more when everyone else in line was with a discount? He couldn't say anything.
Sorry for my rant.
Have a great weekend everyone!
OT: someone mentioned the Coach wedges and those are so cute.
ReplyDeleteI recently ordered a pair of ankle booties from Ann Taylor with their boots promo. Though it's going back since it fits very narrow I must say I was pretty impressed with the quality of the leather upper/soles and the workmanship even though it's marked MIChina. It did not have any smell of the glue JC shoes now all have. And it had leather soles.
I thank all JCAs who point to other retailers for other options. Expanding my horizons. ;-)
I ended up not needing to worry about the red phone b/c I found enough (too much, really) in the b&m to get. I LOVE the haya sequin sweatshirt. Seriously LOVE! But, I just couldn't spend that much on a sweatshirt even with the 25%. So, I left it. I'm still mourning. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed (all of them!) that it will go on sale and still be available. Considering that most of the b&m was on sale makes it seem possible. I also really like the dream zip henley, although I'd need to play around with different ways to wear it (the zipper part). The alpaca tierette sweater is very soft and cozy. If I lived in a colder climate, I might be willing to pay fp for this, but it's way too much for SC. If it has some markdowns and is still around, I would purchase it. I've been waiting for the toothpicks in smoke wash to get marked down, so these were a definite buy for me today. I tried on a chambray popover and I liked it as well. I was actually able to size down, which is unusual for anything with buttons. :) I tried on a striped baseball tee (don't see online), and while it was cute, the sleeves hit me right at my wrist bone. Not long sleeves, but too long for 3/4. I tried on the bootcut cords in a gorgeous shade of green (color code RGR - royal green, maybe?). I also saw the new purpley-wine color. Both colors are beautifully rich. Again, I'll wait on cords since it will be a while before I can wear them here. I tried on a muted reddish suiting skirt that I liked (not online, marked down to 59.99). If I worked in an office, I would have bought it. Loved the color. I also bought a zippered cardigan in an olive green color that is heathered with gold and rust. I love it. It goes perfectly with the rust bettina, btw. It also came in a lighter muted rosy color (also heathered with other colors) and a 3rd color that I can't remember right now. It was also heathered, but just a normal heathering - no other different colors.
ReplyDeleteMy ps said that over 300,000 25% cards were sent out. They've seen increased business b/c of them - lots are returning and making more purchases. He didn't know how customers were chosen, though.
Now, I have to try to forget the haya sweatshirt. I want it so badly, but it's ridiculously overpriced. sigh

ReplyDeleteI didn't get a red card in the grungy PNW! I figure it's cause they've tracked my history and they're sure I'll buy anyhow.
ReplyDeleteOr it is totally random.
Nonetheless, I'm trying to dig in my heels and wait.
jcrewphd: i totally agree w/ you ;)
ReplyDeleteXOXO,
ReplyDeleteThanks much for the Boden purchases review.
I have one other question for you:
If you don't mind saying, where on your torso does the size 10 dot blouse hit you and how tall are you? I am short and Boden does not make petite sizes, so that would be really handy info.
Thanks much!
Also, for anyone who is a J.Crew tissue turtleneck fan but is petite, Talbots makes a great scrunch neck turtleneck now that is very lightweight and silky, but short enough to wear untucked without it coming down to your knees.
I made some returns today because I had a problem with an item I ordered being defective and I was still annoyed about the red card so I returned a few things that I hadn't worn yet and didn't love.
ReplyDeleteMy SA said she wished they got a few in the store to give out but that she couldn't give it to me (I didn't ask her to, I just commented I was annoyed about it) which is contrary to what other posters have said... she also said she was sure it was for cardholders and only for people who shop a lot in store. I think she was saying that because I order a lot online, but I said, if they would give me a coupon I would shop more in store... as it is now I get coupons for online in my catalogs so that's where I shop!
I also told her I had been thinking of opening a J.Crew card but after getting passed up I am not going to do so. I think the 25% off should be for cardholders only, or something, because "randomly" is just making everyone really mad and it just seems like it's causing a big ordeal.
Hey everyone, my mom bought me a cardigan and while trying it on I noticed there is a hole in one of the seams. She doesn't have a receipt for it and she paid for the item in cash. I'd like to exchange it for a new one but I don't know if this is allowed under the new return policy since I don't have a receipt. Any thoughts? Thanks so much.
ReplyDeletemath teacher,
ReplyDeletecan you tell me how the haya sequin sweatshirt fits? TTS?
Thanks!
mack, it was TTS for me. I wear a small in their sleeveless tops and a medium in most of their tees (except for the perfect, which are sometimes a little to clingy in a medium) and I thought the medium was perfect in the haya. Well, maybe not perfect as the arms were a tad long, but I don't have long arms. :)

ReplyDeleteIf I remember correctly, no return without receipt is the new policy. Not even store credit. But since yours is defective and you want the same item, they should let you exchange without a receipt.
Hi JS -- no, not for cardholders. I'm one who buys what I consider a fair amount and didn't get one.
ReplyDeleteI think the "random" explanation is the best. I also think it's a marketing experiment. Why do it without doing research? (I mean from their point of view).
I did not visit my B&M today. I'm hoping to see some new arrivals tomorrow with my PS. OT, but for all you moms out there.... any idea when the pottery barn friends and family event is?
ReplyDeleteMichelle they will always let you return a defective item always no matter what(my experience and what I've always been told!) take it back!
ReplyDeleteI tried on the haya sequin sweatshirt in store today. I loved it and felt it was tts in my normal xs. However I decided against it even though I love love sequins I have seriously 8 gray sweatshirts from there I never wear! Maybe I will reconsider ... :)
ReplyDeleteI got the dolce tweed mini today and love it! Also a few thirst on sale and the dolce tweed atlee skirt which I really love!
Had a good run at the crew yesterday, and posted a bunch of pictures of various items here.
ReplyDeleteMath teacher, I am with you, the haya sequined sweatshirt is gorgeous and it was hard to leave it at the store but I haven't figured out where to wear a sweatshirt covered in sequins yet, especially one that cost $135. I have pics on my blog for those who are interested. It runs a tad small IMO. They also had a gorgeous watercolor scarf in fall colors (pic also on my blog).
ReplyDeleteAll the family is drinking crewlade here: I dragged my husband to the new men's store on Madison Avenue and he actually bought 3 pais of pants and a sweater. That's a first!
I have sad news for NewYorkers: the sales tax on items below $110 is back as of October 1st (check your receipt if you havent noticed). At least is only 4% and not 8%...
@Jcrewphd. re talbots shoes. Did you know they carry wide in many shoes? If you really liked the shoes, you might look for wide. HTH
ReplyDeleteLike many JCAs, I've been liking the "new" talbots. I bought the Brushed back Wool Sheath in red and wore it work for a big presentation. Over the course of one day, got 4 compliments. Similar story with another dress, I bought over the summer. Def been good for working clothes.
Yes Ema, to avoid the NY sales tax, I placed my orders with the Mickey card via the red phone before month's end. They assured me that I won't be charged the new sales tax on a few back-ordered items like the Arrow sweater & double-serge skirt which will be shipping October. For New Yorkers with backordered items less than$110, they apply tax on the sale date and not on shipping date.
ReplyDeleteFYI to Boston-area JCAs - there are LOTS of sale items at the North Shore Mall store. The store manager told me that they recently shipped all of the Copley store's sale stuff there.
ReplyDeletejust spotted online (i know not in store) and ordered an popback 00P Petite stardust pencil skirt in gunmetal. You can only find it if you search for the name...weird!
ReplyDeletethere is one more piece left...from what i can tell...
math teacher: the heathered sweater sounds so beautiful, what is its name? TIA for any info you can share with me :)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to ask, how does the Traversa (sp) cardi fit? Also, has anyone seen the honey color IRL? My son has Senior night in soccer on Thursday and our school colors are blue and gold so I waas thinking of pairing the honey colored Traversa with the Tissue Sequin tank in shadow..although any other suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated!
ReplyDeletejcrewjunkie - I'm housesitting and dropped my receipt off at my house, so I don't know the name. The style number is 32329 and the color code is HMO (heather moss?). I know lots won't like this, but it's 45% acrylic, 25% wool, 15% alpaca, and 15% viscose. It is a thin, but warm, knit. The zipper goes all the way around the neck, so you can zip it up as high as you want and it has a double zipper, so you can unzip from the bottom. HTH
ReplyDeleteajc and Connor- Sorry this is from so long ago- but I just got a price alert for those cute wedges from Coach that have gone on sale- can you help me with sizing? I would like to order them but I have not bought coach shoes for a very long time and would love any feedback/ help!
