Love that they brought this promotion back for card-members. You go, J.Crew! :) Also, J.Crew has been offering a lot of sales back-to-back as of late. As a consumer, I love it. As a stock holder, I hope everything is okay.

What are your thoughts on this promotion? Will you take advantage of it? Did you get this card members exclusive email?

  1. Wow, just what y'all have been waiting for! So happy for all you cardmembers. FINALLY a perk worth having the card for (just wish the minimum was lower for ya)! Happy shopping :)

  2. as usual, no free shipping! I don't know if its worth it when you have to pay $15+ for shipping

  3. Wow - what a whole lotta nothing. I get to pay at least $15.50 shipping when everyone else was running around for a few weeks with 25% off plus all the additional % off on sweaters and such without having to pay shipping.
Two days and less off - No thanks Mickey and I am canceling my card.

  4. Minimum is too high, free shipping negates any benefit, and they recently had 20% off with a lower minimum for everyone. Sooo not really seeing the benefit AT ALL. Especially in light of the recent 30% off final sale plus free shipping... because we know all of the full price merchandise will be on final sale in a matter of weeks.

  5. Yes, it is nice they finally have a promo for cardholders as they have been advertising for years. No, I won't be taking advantage of it though.

  7. Hopefully this is a market test of sorts and if there isn't a huge uptake then perhaps they will make the next private sale a better deal. I'm not a cardholder but they do promise private sales so should deliver, and they should be better than the regular sales that are available to everyone.

  8. I think it is good that they're finally offering a perk for cardholders. I won't be taking advantage of it, though. As others have mentioned, it's set too high plus I hate paying shipping. Now, if they'd offer 20% off instore, then I might bite.

  9. I'm glad to see they are finally offering a special benefit to cardholders, but do agree with others that it would have been much nicer with free shipping. You would think they'd have realized by now that they sell a lot more merchandise with free shipping and offer it on every % off promo.

  10. Are there any other card members who didn't receive this promo code? I know I've only been a card holder for two months, but they definitely have my email - they can send me my bill, so why not a promo?

  11. I was in the store today making returns with NO intention of purchasing anything - also the store only had a few new releases, and (of course) I stumbled upon a few items of interest. I forgot about the cardmember promo until I was checking out and the SA said she would apply it as long as my total amount was over $175. So, still a really high minimum for the promo, but very nice of them to honor it in-store. It also applied to sale items that are not final sale! yay! I jumped on the Marled Thandie blazer bandwagon - it was on sale in store for $50, so with promo was $40. Very flattering. I'm sure it will vary store to store if they will honor it, but it never hurts to ask.

  12. I'm not a cardholder but I did get the email.

  13. I am a (new) cardholder and I did not get this email.

  14. Seriously, this is not that great of a deal. I have to spend a whole lota cash to get the discount and then pay shipping. Other companies out there have much better incentives. I echo--why not a percentage off in store and without a minimum purchase amount?!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Cheap perk! J. Crew would get so much more of my money if they offered better incentives. I spent so much when the first 25% red card came around, but I didn't get it the second time around, and every promo has paled in comparison. I especially think they should offer free shipping on petites items, because they aren't carried in stores.

  16. After tax and shipping, and tax on my shipping don't forget, it's about 5% off. That is not a perk.

The other day I bought something on BR with 25% off and free ship (yes, they let you stack codes). Today I bought something from Ann Taylor Loft with a buy one/get one 50% off promo, and a 25% off $100 (yes, they let you stack), and last week an order on Ann Taylor with 30% off and the shipping was $10. Talbots had a nice deal I recently used with 25% off and free ship (no minimum). Are we seeing a pattern here?

  17. Nothing for me with this code - I'd rather use a free ship code. With the taxes here it works out to like, a 3% discount. Plus, with s&h you're paying $18.50 to try on. If free ship was included, there may be a few pieces I'd try.

Good point on the stackable promos, Desert Flower - Talbot's is having 25% off some of their new stuff and they specifically state that yes, you can use that with their $25 off $125.

  18. As a cardholder I'm glad they are offering this offer exclusively for us, however, I will not be taking advantage of it since it does NOT include Free Shipping. $175 minimum is high and the crazy shipping charges negates the discount.

As someone mentioned trying to use maybe a free shipping code. JC does not allow stacking coupon codes when other retailers allow this.

  19. It took a while for j.crew to get off its high horse to finally listen to the consumer. Too bad the train already left the station! The stock will probably take a good beating going into holiday, if this is the best they've been saving up for all year long!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I won't be shopping JCrew at all this holiday season with their new 30 day return policy. No way. I was telling friends about it at a party this weekend and they were surprised and won't be shopping there either for gifts.

I have been shopping Talbots as they let you stack codes. Gotten some great deals. I shopped there instead of using my white card. Never did use it.

I got the card holder promo but won't be using it. There is not even $175 of stuff I like let alone LOVE.

  21. As much as I'd been complaining that JC hadn't made good on its promise to give cardholders access to private sales, this deal isn't good enough to tempt me.

When they ran these cardholder specials in the past, I was placing much larger orders, so I had no problem meeting the discount threshold, and the discount outweighed having to pay shipping. Right now I can't justify spending over $175 just to get a discount that is entirely eaten up by tax and shipping. I just want to buy a $98 skirt :-(

  22. I have no card, so nothin' for me... but the Fall Sale must be around the corner, don't ya think? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm also turned off by lack of free ship. I placed an order at AT over the weekend and was willing to pay shipping because they were having promo sweaters 30% off, and on top of that I could use a 20% discount code I had, which also worked on other marked down items I added to my order. So I felt I was getting a ton of stuff a great prices and I didn't mind eating the shipping cost.

I want to buy a suit from JC, and the 20% off would outweigh the shipping cost, BUT if it doesn't fit and I have to return it I am out $18.50 for nothing. So I am just going to wait another month; Thanksgiving is right around the corner and they will have to offer better promos (% off and free ship) to compete.

  24. final sale is finally gone! now if they will offer free shipping (or at least cheaper shipping) ...

  27. This is definitely a step in the right direction. That said, I canx my card earlier this year and it will take much more than this to get me to hold the card again.

I imagine someone crunched numbers and decided they need to charge for shipping as much as possible, which is why free shipping is a rare occurrence and why we consistently high minimum subtotals required for free shippin. I will acknowledge that we've seen free ship on our log in accounts and that JC has had $100 minimums. However, I truly think someone has a stick up their butt about free shipping and just doesn't want to give it up. Hay seuss! Unclench and let go already.

  28. I got it, but won't be taking advantage of it. I'm with everyone else who thinks the shipping charges are ridiculous. I bought two pairs of boots from Piperlime yesterday and shipping (and returns) are free. Why can't J.Crew offer it's card holders free shipping?
