J.Crew is delivering more presents to very lucky J.Crew Aficionadas. In the mailbox, they found a gift of a shopping tote with the following note:
Thank you from J.CrewAs usual, this is a wonderful gift and more importantly, a lovely gesture for those who receive it. Congratulations JCAs!!! :)
We thought of you— and wanted to send you our new reusable tote (featuring hand-sketched designs straight from one of our designers). Just a little way of saying thank you.
We're here if there is anything you ever need.
All the best,
Mickey
As for me ...I checked my mailbox today to see if I got one of these lovelies. The result is always the same— me empty handed muttering "sun of a beach" under my breathe. (Isn't that definition of insanity, where you do the same thing over & over again expecting different results?) I know, I know. I am a sucker for hoping. ;)
So check your mailbox in the next few days to see if you got something extra special from J.Crew. And if you do receive this, please share! :)
I received mine yesterday, it is the one with the two dogs and the three ladies. Its really a nice roomy tote, I'm happy to have it!
ReplyDeleteSun of a beach. Heehee. LOL. Thanks for the new phrase, Alexis. I can totally use that with the kids. :)
ReplyDeleteI am in your boat, Alexis in terms of customer appreciation. Curse or a blessing, hmm?
ReplyDeleteSun of a beach is so cute.. although I won't be teaching my little one that, the subtleties might escape him {or his teachers for that matter}
I received mine yesterday, too; it's a really nice gesture. Alexis, I hope that yours arrives!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnyone has an email address of Mickey Drexler, jcrew ceo, or an email address of someone else in charge? Today, I received a return by jcrew of my return of a defective item. Basically, they sent a wrong item to me. I ordered a pencil skirt and they sent me an a-line skirt, but its tag was the pencil skirt's tag. I reported this to a jcrew Associate and I was told to return it, so I returned it with everything in exact same conditions as I received. A week later, today jcrew returned it back to me. I just called jcrew. They told me their return department thought I put the wrong tag on myself. They said they could do nothing as their return department made the determination. Therefore, I want to talk to someone in charge in jcrew.
ReplyDeleteI don't care about the amount of money I paid for the item. However, it is not uncommon for me to receive jcrew items with no tag or wrong tag. If those items are not what I ordered and if those items are defective, I should be able to return it without such humiliation. If they want to enforce a policy like this, they should first make sure they attach tags to each item and attach correct tags to each item at first place.

ReplyDeleteSee here.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Slastena!
ReplyDeleteReceived a tote in the mail today. I was actually quite suprised to receive it, as I have hardly spent any $ in the last few months (no desire, strange I know). Anyhow, I think these gifts are a nice gesture and does set JCrew apart from other retailers in that aspect.
ReplyDeleteI got mine today and I was pleased it was different than the ones posted. I would love to see what the one in the second picture looks like. Mine has a woman in sunglasses, a jacket, striped skirt and heels. She's carrying a tote with a spotted cat.
ReplyDeleteAlexis, do you have a PS? You might want to try making friends with one as they seem to be able to pull strings. I've had my PS since the earring gift and she's wonderful.
I am shocked! I received a tote also! I have never gotten anything else, so Alexis, maybe you will too! Mine is the three lady one.

ReplyDeleteI received the *4 friends - 2 sweaters* tote on Thursday, which is the one I hadn't purchased myself. I agree this is a nice gesture, and hope that more JCAs will be getting one in the mail soon.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day everyone! :)
I got one this week....very cute. I am a little suprised that I got one, because I probably return almost as much JC as I orderI I di recently, however, give one of the SAs where I shop frequently, my address, etc. for her "book" and have been getting e-mails from her about sales, etc. Maybe that is a factor??

ReplyDeleteLast year I ordered a pair of favorite fit trousers that arrived as city-fit. The tag, bag, and receipt said favorite fit, but the pants were labeled city-fit in the waist. I accidentally took off the tags before I realized they wouldn't work. I called jcrew and CS said to return them with tags and receipt and they would exchange them. I got another pair with the same issue and they charged me for the 2nd pair without telling me. Long story short they never could fulfill the order and it took me almost 3 months to get the refund for the first pair bc they said I sent the wrong tags, receipt, and bag with the pants. Never mind that their own warehouse couldn't find a pair that was tagged correctly!
FFM - funny - I also got the one tote I hadn't bought (I got the one with the dogs as my gift, had bought the 2 with the cats). Did they know which ones I had?
ReplyDeleteI haven't received a tote yet and I've spent a lot with them for the past several months. I'm a JCrew silver card holder and have yet to receive any kind of gift besides the Mickey card over a year ago.
ReplyDelete"Sun of a beach" is right. LOL, Alexis!
Anon @10:06pm: If you are near a B&M I would say try returning it there. I once had to return a FS cashmere sweater since the sizing was way off. The XS much larger than the S. When I called CS she said to return it back to warehouse for them to determine whether it was defective and I asked if I could return it at my B&M and she said it was fine as long as SA at B&M will examine whether it was wrong. I took it back and I didn't have any problem returning it.
ReplyDeleteThat it totally wrong for JCrew to send the wrong item to you and place the burden on you to prove you received the wrong item. It is their job to check each item they receive back from customers as returns/exchanges so things like this does not happen. Did you happen to pay with a credit card that offers buyer protection? My Amex does and it allows protection from merchants who would not accept returns/refunds.
Hope you can get a good resolution. Good luck!
I wonder how much money you need to spend to get "perks." Last thing I got was the pair of earrings in the fall and I spend WAY too much $$.
ReplyDeleteYes, I recently got a shirt with no tag and it was the wrong shirt inside even though the outside of the bag's tag was the one I wanted. Right bag/wrong item inside!!! JCrew just has some serious issues that need to be resolved. I cannot believe they consistently have this problem. I had this experience more times than I can count!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness I got this free bag the next day after the above issue. It helped a little.
I have drastically cut my spending at JCrew. So I don't know how I got the bag; just happy I did. I did not get any other gift though since the red card last Christmas 08.
Of topic - I know a lot of us are loving the new Land's End Canvas line. They are doing 20% off this weekend:
ReplyDeleteTake 20% off regularly-priced styles
Promotion Code: EASTER20 PIN: 5969
I am a big fan of their heritage cardigans (better quality and just a smidge larger than the Jackie, IMO)
and the elbow-sleeve tee is a perfect weight, length, fabric for spring. All the pants I have ordered have fit strangely, though.

ReplyDeleteFrom The Consumerist, "How to EECB J.Crew":
http://consumerist.com/2010/03/eecb-j-crew.html
Nothing for me . . . I am a silver CC holder and though *I* think that I spend a lot of $$ with JC it's obviously not enough. I've never received a giftie of any type, though I did receive the "Mickey" red card last year. Heck, I am not even receiving catalogs lately.
ReplyDeleteOTHO: This pants promo with 20% off and FS was a nice little offer. Usually the 20% just covers the shipping and isn't much of a deal, but when they added them together they got a sale out of me.
Thanks for the info Raina. I just put these addresses in my contact info for J.Crew. I have found that the SAs where I shop to be excellent about handling such matters. It may depend on your particular B&M though.
ReplyDeleteHave been shopping a lot and this year received the calendar, earrings, tote, and complementary free shipping. Thought I would also get the hankerchief, but it was not the case. :( Anyway, truly enjoy jcrew's token of appreciation! Hope all JCAs receive the tote!
ReplyDeleteNo love from the JC gift fairy for me as usual. I've only ever gotten one of the red cards, and that was last spring.
ReplyDeleteAnon, my sympathies are with you big time. I've had more than the usual screw ups the last few months, with either the wrong color or wrong item entirely put into an order, and a few defective items. Luckily I live near a store, so I can do the returns there, and the SAs are always sympathetic to customers with online problems. I really think there needs to be drug testing at the warehouse (ha, ha), or simply better quality control. Either way, the onus is NOT on the customer!!! I'm so sorry that you've been given such a run around. As you can see from this, and numerous other threads, the boat you're on is filled to overflowing.
I'm beyond shocked that a received the two friends-one sweater tote yesterday. Save for the Mickey card last spring, I have never received any of the gifts Mickey periodically sends out. And I always spend a lot. Maybe I've been spending even more? Or it could be that I've been using the personal shopper service?
ReplyDeleteI also find it interesting that I was sent the design that I did not already have. I bought the other two the minute they hit the stores. Hmmm...
Truth be told, I'd rather have a 20% off coupon like other retailers send their customers.
ReplyDeleteTotally OT, this is a conversation I had with an SA at Ann Taylor, but I have heard the same sentiment at J. Crew. I was looking for a few particular items today at AT since they were having 40% off everything in the store. My store was out of the items, so the sweet SA was going to order for me from another location. She made mention that AT was "re-training" the customer to not wait for sales. She said that they were getting fewer amounts of popular items. Sounds very much like what many retailers including JC are doing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Slastena, Jessica, jcrewphd, Genny, Raina Cox,and CheesyGoodness!
ReplyDeleteThey let me talk to someone from their return department tomorrow. I will see ...
Question: How does one get a silver J Crew card? What's the difference? You've piqued my curiousity!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I want one!
ReplyDeleteOT: Returned two orders to a B&M yesterday and commented to the SA that fewer clothing items fit me these days. The SA replied that he had observed clothes this season being cut slimmer and longer and has heard similar feedback from other customers.
ReplyDeleteC'mon J. Crew, are now selling only to customers who look lke Jenna? I've given up on J.Crew tees, pants. The only items that fit are a few cardigans.
I received the tote yesterday. It's cute! But, I'd rather have a 40% coupon, lol!
ReplyDeleteRebecca, thank you for the LE code, I placed my first Canvas order today and saved 20%. Much appreciated.
ReplyDeletekristy - I think silver card status is based on your limit amount and/or the amount you spend each year.
ReplyDeleteI received one! Always a nice surprise to find something in the mailbox! :)
ReplyDeleteReceived my tote last Thurs or Fri. Odd since I've never gotten a Mickey card or any other perks, but I'm not complaining. They have me wrapped around their little finger now...
ReplyDeleteSlightly OT - Just did a major clost cleaning and actually took pictures of about 50 items. Anyone know of a way for me to share the pics with JCAs for the Weekly Exchange tomorrow? I signed up for Polyvore only to find out that you can only drag web items. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
sherbie-
ReplyDeleteI upload pictures onto a free online web album (like picasa.com) and share the link on the exchange. Just upload your pics, write some descriptions, copy and paste the link into your post, and you're set! :)
Some JCAs have mentioned buying their totes. Are they available in store only? I checked jcrew.com but didn't see any for sale. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to hear more about the silver card- anyone know what the baseline is to be bumped up to it?
ReplyDeleteI got mine last week. It was such a nice surprise.
