Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  2. I'm typically a big fan of Lands End and have purchased a lot from them over the years, esp cashmere and monogrammed gifts. You can find good quality basics if you avoid the frumpy styles. Anyway, maybe it's the new soon-to-be-ousted CEO or the state of retail in general, but I've had some really crappy experiences with LE lately. I received a partial order of monogrammed tech fleece gloves yesterday (gifts for my admins) that was completely wrong. Wrong colors, wrong, sizes, wrong monograms. CS, which has always been outstanding, gave me a hard time and had an annoyed time. Moreover, they wouldn't credit me for the incorrect pairs without taking my time and trouble to return them.

It was a reminder that most of my regular retailers have kind of slipped in quality and service. I often hold JC to a higher standard but that's only because they tend to meet it most of the time.

    1. Wow, very surprising and disappointing from LE. I used to order from them a lot, and their CS was on a whole different level compared to other retailers. I would marvel at how nice and down to earth their reps were. Maybe they're having trouble getting good people?

    2. Very surprising. Maybe call back? I had an excellent interaction the an LE customer service on Sunday. I think LE quality is good and have been getting a few more basics there - nice quality tees (not like the every popular tissue weight) and 100% cotton sweaters. Reasonable prices.

  3. I've never bought from Patagonia but I got a "welcome back" code for 15% off. M4981408, expires 12/24 if anyone can use it.

    2. Patagonia, hands down has the best quality fleece jackets. I always wait for the web specials to buy, but would definitely pay full price for their jackets.

    3. Hands down my favorite casual/outdoor/athletic brand. Incredible quality, guaranteed forever and a values-driven business.

  4. Anthropologie is offering free shipping on all orders today (which is rare). I don't shop a lot there lately but they have some great cosmetics and candles that are good for gifts (like the Mer Sea foot scrub, Albeit lip balm, Capri Blue candles). I also noticed they have the pinch provisions kits that Jcrew carries.
