Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  2. Was having trouble on website so called CS. Apparently, they're having issues company wide so website is in fact down.

  3. Noticed same about site. Does appear to have 50% off sale styles when it comes back up!

  4. Agree, bad timing as they really need sales. I've been trying to get on the site for a while and am getting frustrated.
Was going to go out of town to a store but we've got storm warnings today.

  5. Oy. Well at least we are all. In the same. Sad boat!

  6. ok, this is hilarious. I thought I'd check out the website this morning and couldn't get on, so I was thought "well, let me go over to JCA and see what's up", haha.

  7. Oddly - Disney web site is down too, or at least the Disney.go one. Wonder if one of the major hosrpting providers is having issues.

  8. This is terrible! Dying to get on the site and use my gift cards!

  9. I'm having withdrawals, can't get on the j crew site! Of all the days....😂

  10. I knew I could count on JCA to see that I'm not the only one with website issues!

  12. I've been considering a shopping fast -- or at least a slowdown -- for 2017. Maybe this is a head start?

  13. So when I got up the site was open, sort of -- there was a promo for "our best customers". However when I tried to get to an individual item page, the sizes and price wouldn't display, and Add to Cart wasn't working. I was wondering if it was something I said. Thanks, JCAs!

    1. do you remember what the promo was? did the sale section switch over to all final sale?

      Delete
    2. Hi Cass - promo was 50% off all sale items, final sale did not appear to be in effect (with the exception of the usually marked FS section).

      Delete
    3. @Cass, ^^^ that's what I remember seeing as well when I went online late after midnight. Final Sale wasn't in effect (except on a handful of items, like some Tippis). When I was in the store last Friday, I asked about whether Sale items were Final Sale and the SA replied that they wouldn't be until January.

    4. I could've sworn I saw "up to 50% off sale items" (40% off sale and 50% off final sale) but I guess not. I also saw that Madewell was offering 30% off sale items.

    5. The code was 50% off all sale with code THEBEST.

      Delete
    6. JCrew on Twitter or facebook (can't recall) said the promo for today Shopsale is 40% off sale and 50% off final sale.

      Delete
    7. ^^Sorry, that was for the U.S. Canada was showing 50% off sale this morning. I think the cdn code was 'youdeserveit' or something like that.

    8. hmm. seems conflicting info. last night before crash it was Boxingday....for Canada not sure about US

      Delete
    9. 50% off sale is back up on US site and code is still THEBEST. It's not a good idea after being down all day to have a new promo that's worse than the one you started the day with.

  14. there's an error message being displayed stating the site is down due to an increase in traffic... er... maybe there is an increase in traffic w/ ppl checking to see when the site is bk up but i doubt that's why it crashed earlier today

  15. DDoS attack? Has happened earlier this year on other websites

    1. Starting to wonder whether this is the cause, if only because it's been going on for over 12 hours, based on when others first noticed the issue. I think if the problem had just been a technical glitch, it might have been resolved by now. Since it's affected them system-wide, disabling use of the store credit card, I'm guessing it's more than just a glitch. Other retailers don't seem to be experiencing anything similar. Poor J. Crew 🙁

  16. Odd that you can get into all the sale categories except women's. Maybe our husbands/significant other have jammed the site to prevent us from spending more money!

  17. The message on the site says that the site is down because of too much traffic. Don't believe it - I went to the site at 4:00 am EST (couldn't sleep) and it was down then too.

    1. I was on the site around 1:30 AM (EST) so it must have crashed sometime around then. Bummer, as that's a long time to be down, then. Bad timing, as everyone has already said. I had a few items in my cart that I'd made to re-check this morning. Bummer!

    2. I'm sorry for them really. The brand doesn't need this kind of a hit.

  20. I have a bad feeling about this - the company is pretty fragile, and can ill afford to be offline on one of the biggest shopping days of the year. I feel bad for the folks who must be dealing with this frantically today.

    1. oh...what a terrible end to the season or JCrew. customers can be upset when they take the troubleto get to stores for refunds. lets all remember to be nice. Maybe JCrew will be nice back and we will have free shipping tomorrow and a huge # of popbacks on site. wishful thinking. I was wanting to go on the site today . maybe being force to take a day off is a good thing...

    2. This FB post made me smile & gave some perspective.

Erika Dole Good god, relax everyone. They're working on it.. Not being able to shop for a few hours isn't going to ruin anyone's life

    3. I was going to venture out to make return but glad I didn't. I feared the website crash may have impacted the in store transactions and I was correct. Also emailed for a price adjustment as the banner said 50% off for one day only. Site was up but not functional when I woke up. This is a bummer for them. People w/ holiday money will probably spend elsewhere.

  23. I saw some people saying they can't use gift cards in store because of these problems. I feel so bad for jcrew this is terrible for them and they really need to be making sales.
I didn't go to a store because of weather but I have gift cards to use so that would be frustrating even though it's not their fault.
As for returns, I didn't think you could do returns on boxing day?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That has never been the case in the US--not sure about Canada.

      Delete
    2. You can make a return any day in the U.S. Except for today, apparently, but that's not usual, it's just because of the outage.

      Delete
    3. Thanks ladies! I hope I can do my returns tomorrow. :)

    4. this was true in Factory in Sommerville, MA...are they kidding? biggest return day of the year.

  24. I remember years ago the Gap would not except returns on Boxing Day.
But I have no idea if this is the case now. If I was going to the store today...I would want to return so I could spend the $$ there on something else. I don't go shopping on Boxing Day....because its too crazy . Most sales now go on for the whole week ...
I feel really bad for the Sa's at stores and CS on the tele\s.
lets all be patient and kind...its only shopping. tomorrow is another day...good luck to all people working hard to get the site back up... Carolyn from Vancouver

  26. has anyone talked to CS to find out whats happened / ?? Is it weather related ???

  27. I was able to do a return ( but had to insert a cc /chip so credit could be processed when usually credit goes automatically to the card used ) . Made a small purchase but didn't use a gift card, so I wouldn't know if there are issues with that. Sale with extra 50% off ( few additions that I noticed were Items in plaid/ lady jacket/top with bow/ taffeta skirt/ top with ruffles...sizes 0 & 00 )

  28. This must be a big problem or they would have had it fixed by now. feel bad if this this causing people stress....

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes, no returns to a J Crew card in store and no indication of the cause or when it will be back up. I drove about 40 minutes to a factory store just to make a return from an online purchase. They offered to hold the merchandise and process the return when they are back up but without any receipt of them receiving it, that felt weird. Just inconvenient since that was the sole purpose of the trip. I didn't bother looking around much since I couldn't use the card to pay either. This is really bad for them...

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Cobalt - I agree with you on a hiatus... and maybe this is a sign! Bought too much in the past couple months with the crazy sale offers. Gotta cool the card off for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  31. According to their Twitter feed (@jcrew_help), no ETA on fixing the site, but once it's up the promo will run through 1/4/17 (sale 40% and final sale 50% with code SHOPSALE). Perhaps the 50% off all sale some of us saw will not come back (or just for Cardmembers?). What a lousy day for them!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think the website got hacked. It is taking way too long to fix.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @V Smith I agree, hacked, cyber attack or something like that. 'Normal' website problems would have been fixed by now

    1. I just saw on jcrew's Twitter that someone asked about customers personal info. as they are worried if it's been hacked. JCrew responded that they have no reason to believe any customer info. has been compromised. So that's good and I'm hoping true. :)

  35. this fix must be costing $$$ ...hope this doesn't push them further into the red.

  36. This is really unbelievable. 12+ hours offline. Most companies recover from even very significant hacks in far less time. I'm so sad for them.

Does anyone have any updated info on what happened?

  42. heads up! the site still is misbehaving. searching this am, found the DOUBLE-BREASTED BLAZER IN ITALIAN WOOL WITH SATIN LAPEL was on sale for 259.99 + 50%... score!!! however when i added it to my cart it was still normal price, 278.00. Added a sweater that was on sale w/ no problem & checked out. Called CS who eventually saw the sale price & credited me but it was not an easy process... The jacked didnt show up as sale frm my wishlist or frm searching the item. Also when I tried to add it frm my desktop I rcvd the msg that it was sold out, though frm the mobile flow the jacket was avl in multiple sizes...

J Crew is doing new pricing games or the site is still broken. Either way, pls pay close attention when shopping today

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm glad J crew is back online, but the continual disappearance and shifting prices of things is frustrating, so I won't be placing an order unless the scarf I want reappears.

I was due for a few PA with the 50% off but beware, as they now say they can only adjust for items that are in stock, essentially because they can no longer find the price for out of stock items. Should have gotten $38 back but only got $25 since they couldn't confirm prices for several things.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Isn't a PA only supposed to be for items that you bought FP anyway? Or did they change that policy.

      Delete
    2. JC will issue PA within 7 days. It no longer has to be FP. I think this is more in line with other retailers.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful that they honor any PA at all, but it is just odd that JC SA can't even find the prices of the merchandise they are selling and that the prices constantly fluctuate.

      Delete
    3. OK this must be new to keep customers happy because the old policy is still stated on the website.

      Delete
    4. oh no, I emailed early this morning for a PA for 2 things I bought 5 days ago that were 40% off are now 50% off. I don't bother if it's only a few bucks usually but this was over $20 difference. I think the items are sold out now, so I hope JC will still do the adjustment. I know things have got to be crazy at CS today for them.

      Delete
    5. @bythelake & Julie Taylor, I encountered this same issue last night when I asked for a PA on a Petit Chateau coat that I ordered on Friday -- it was showing up on sale at $289, with 50% off, before the outage. But when the site finally went live again yesterday, it was long gone, and Customer Service couldn't help (they were able to help with other items, just not this one.)

I randomly checked for the coat today and it's back in stock, so CS was able to do the PA, which was a decent amount ($30+!) I recommend continually checking on your items if possible because so many seem to be popping in & out of stock. Good luck!

      Delete
    6. A little basic math can get you to the price before discount. For example, if the item was $69.99 @ 40% off, price paid is 41.99. To get to the price of the item before the discount 41.99/.6 = 69.99. Hope this helps someone.

      Delete
    7. I'm with mygoddy, it is ridiculous that they are telling people they can't find the original sale price. Even if they can't (which I find hard to believe) they could just do the math.
