  1. What I'm loving: coats, shoes, jewelry. Classics with a twist. I feel like I haven't bought too much clothing, but to me, adding a colorful coat, fun jewelry and a fabulous pair of shoes to basic jeans and a black sweater, or a black turtleneck and skirt is the perfect way to change up a look.

    1. The same for me. Lots of shoes to love. I have snagged up several pair.

    2. +1. I adore much of what I have purchased this year and it is mostly coats and shoes: Chateau Parka, Belted Wool Trench, Factory Navy Leather Jacket, Scalloped Heels.

I know the financial results don't seem to show it, but I do appreciate the effort to make these categories at J Crew special again.

      Now, about that cashmere ...

    3. I didn't buy any coats at all this season because too many of the styles were repeats from prior seasons. At least their coats generally continue to be good quality. Would like to see some more new styles next year.

    4. I always find items to love and purchase every season at J Crew. Big fan of Drakes' collab and Collection. There have been plenty of clothing and shoe hits for me from NYFW release from spring and summer. Fall, winter and holiday also had some special clothing pieces (no shoes yet) that I purchased. I've definitely bought more clothing than anything else.

    5. @mygoddy, if I wasn't trying to be somewhat practical there would be many more clothing items for me too, but as a mostly SAHM with some casual client meetings, there's only so much I need. Changing up shoes and coat allows me to take my basic uniform to the next level without having a closet full of clothes I don't wear. I know this will sound pathetic, but i almost want to work outside the house again just so I have an opportunity to dress up more often. (Well, that and many other reasons.)

    6. @Suz Has I hear you! I've been a SAHM for a long time now and recently returned to college to prepare for a second career. I loved getting dressed up in my work clothes for my practicum! I think I've already purchased a whole new work wardrobe even though I won't be graduating for some time.

    7. @Suz Has, a friend teased me when I told her the only thing I don't like about my office having charity jean weeks is that it means I don't wear my cute dressier clothes ;) I get you.

    8. @Suzhas makes sense to me on being pragmatic. Even though I now go into the offfice more now with my new role, I'm still trying to be practical and buy what I'm going to wear. I did a major purge this year and there was stuff with tags still attached, so a major "bought lesson" learned. So, that means I've only bought casual jackets from J Crew like the downtown field jacket (long and short versions).
@shopgrrrl congrats on going back to school! Time will fly by and you'll be done before you know it!

  2. OT but over 2200 items in sale section. Nice update if you were looking for something that was out of stock. Had to talk myself out of the collection tartan trench. I love it but have too many coats. This is a lighter weight trench so I think I would only get a few weeks use out of it in the fall as it does not read spring to me. At $200 I passed for now. Did grab the collection suede leggings. Hoping these will be a win.

    1. I had to talk myself out of the leather Ryder pants. All reviews say sizing is weird and I have the leather front Pixie pants.

    2. I just snagged the collection cashmere candy stripe shell! Now if I could only score the cardigan, patience!

    3. Yeah, when I woke up there was over 2500 items! I actually only picked up a pair of leggings for my daughter. I have done some serious damage lately though. I received 5 packages yesterday! 😳

  3. Maybe it's just me but it seems like so much has been marked down, I hope things haven't gotten even worse.

    1. Things were pretty bad this year, I think they had to shoot for the stars on holiday sales volume which is why they were really aggressive with promotions recently (i.e. 40% off whole store which they never used to do.) Hopefully they come out of the quarter with positive news while they try to improve their merchandise quality and selection going forward.

    2. I'm hoping that too and feel like they've been on the right track. :)

  4. Ladies, does anyone know if you can use a gift card to pay for a charge-send (purchase over the phone from a store)? Thx!

  5. I haven't bought anything from J. Crew this Fall/Winter. Mostly because I am not going to spend money on some of the fiber contents, and I am absolutely not a fan of tight sleeves on outer-wear or the sweaters. Just not feeling it right now. Even the shoes leave me cold. I'll always look at J.Crew, but if this seasonal representation is the best they have going - they will lose me. In the winter, I want wool. I want nice quality cashmere. I want shoes that fit.

    1. Vava, I completely understand what you are saying. I believe that J Crew is keeping customers who buy for "style" and losing a lot of the business related to quality fabric and construction that lasts more than one season and more than a few wears and laundering. Their coats and many shoes meet both hurdles better than a lot of the other clothing categories.

  6. I will give some love to J.Crew Customer Service online. I sent a few emails over the past few weeks requesting price adjustments and while of course I can be happy that they honor my request, the emails from the reps were cheery, friendly and personable. It's taken them a little longer to respond with holiday volume but they still respond.

  7. I love my cherry print midi (still available!) the Lady Jacket with ruffles, and so many beautiful clothes I'm still wearing 10+ years later.

    1. That Lady Jacket with Ruffles!! I recently tried it on on a whim and loved it!! I have a hard time getting a blazer that fits, but this piece fit perfectly and I liked the cropped length since I'm petite. Ps, don't know if you noticed, but it actually has pockets. Online description doesn't say so, but they're there - pockets seem to be sewn rightly so it's hard to tell at first. Anyways , just an fyi.
