This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
What happened to the Drake's for J.Crew products? Did it completely sell out? It's not even appearing when I search.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that too. There's Drake product in stores for sure. Not sure what's going on with the website/inventory. Might try working with a VPS.
Deletealot is just gone? what I have clicked on is sold out.
ReplyDeleteSame - every sale item I am interested in is "sold out." Hmmmm.
DeleteYep, website is still flawed. Items aren't sold out. Go to your mobile view and you can see sizing for many items showing as sold out. It's true that items are showing as on sale but full price when placed in your cart. I called CS to place an order for Sadie gold flats and tall perfect shirt in tartan plaid. They're both showing as sold out but sizes are definitely available.
DeleteSite is weird again (color me shocked!) - a lot of the new to sale items show as sold out. The cap toe Gemmas are $89.99 in the sale section, but sold out if you click on them. However, I can access them from my wishlist but they are full price. Their Facebook page is blowing up with people complaining that items on sale are now FP... so, yeah.
ReplyDeleteThe promo email they sent today included a line that said something like 'Apologies for any site issues today' so I'm wondering whether their IT department warned them that there might still be issues.
DeleteJust rcvd an email frm the Clearance store saying they still can't process gift cards :(
ReplyDeleteHope the same isn't true for the normal stores.
This plus the website issues is making me a bit sad for J Crew. This is the worst possible time for all of this to occur.
I feel bad for them. I just want to give them my money and they are making it hard. I am not up in arms like some on Facebook as it is just clothes but feel bad for everyone dealing w/ the mean people.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for them, too! Just checked out their Facebook page, my gosh, what a headache. I don't really understand those who are complaining about the 40% off regular items sale - didn't that sale run for over a week??! I went into the store the weekend before Christmas and shopped online right up until the day before or so and they certainly had It then. It had to end at some point and that's what they're being told, that it ended on the 25th, before the site outage. Seems fair to me. I guess free shipping might have been a nice gesture, but frankly, I'm guessing they already lost so much money from the outage that they can't afford to lose more? I hope something starts to go right for them!
DeleteThere are more items I want that are "on sale" per the sale page but aren't appearing as sale in the cart. Decided I'm just going to pause on shopping bc I don't feel like dealing with CS (again) & surely the feeling is mutual :P
DeleteIf it's meant to be they will popback another day. Like you said it's just clothes, not water or air. We'll all be fine...
I do want to place an order but don't have time to spend on the phone as I am back at work today. Keep checking the site but no luck in fixing the errors.
DeleteI spoke to one of the SAs at my store this morning and they are all at their wits end about it. The stores are getting flooded w phone calls about stuff they can't do anything about I.e. Checking if gift cards went through etc. People have no patience for tech glitches like this as we all assume every transaction proceeds instantly.
ReplyDeleteI hope it is resolved soon as J Crew can't afford the loss of less "loyal" customers who have a myriad of choices and will just go elsewhere.
Can anyone confirm if we can use gift cards in store today? Thx!
ReplyDeleteWe're not crazy. The site is updating right now. Items that were clearly in stock are sold out and I'm also seeing popbacks. Keep trying?
ReplyDeletegigi....how can you tell its updating ? thanks
ReplyDeleteYeserday ...I realized
ReplyDeleteI had not received a confirmation email for refund (online...but returned instore). called CS and they automatically put it through.
*save all receipts ,check your credits cards etc. mistakes can be easily made at the time of the year. Carolyn from Vancouver
We had a nasty ice & wind storm here yesterday, so I played in my closet and came up with the following year-in-review thoughts:
ReplyDeleteI added 8 JC items to my wardrobe in 2016: a Holly sweater (love), two pencil skirts (work staples for me), three buttondowns (mixed results – the perfect shirts faded quickly but the cotton/linen blend still looks new), one striped tee (fail, developed holes in short order), and a summer scarf (holding up well). I overdid it at Factory, adding 30 items – many tees, which are my lounge/sleep/weekend go-to – plus a couple of chambray shirts (win). I learned the hard way (read: final sale) that Factory bottoms do not fit me, period. I also added 10 Madewell items – generally wins (especially their skinny jeans), but again a couple of final sale mistakes (both tops).
I bid farewell to the last of my Jackies (well-worn), Tippis (finally admitted that they just don’t suit my build), and pixies (lost patience with the amount of lint they attracted). I have one remaining pair of Minnies that really should be donated (a smidge too tight). Feels like I’ve lost a number of “friends” this year!
I love the concept of a year-end review, highs, lows, de-accessioning - and would love to hear what other JCAs are keeping, weeding out, cherishing.
DeleteI weeded out a lot of the trendier and novelty styles from prior seasons--tops with ruffles, oddly shaped cardigans...Also the jackie cardigans have been holding up disappointingly in the wash for me and those are going to goodwill--always look faded after one or two washes on gentle with woolite. I am moving away from those and replacing with the classic featherweight cashmere cardigans--great for 3 season wear. Yes they pill but that can be fixed with a sweater comb. Fading cannot. I picked up some from sale section and a few lucky finds at NYC sample sales.
DeleteI'm going to do this in stages - gave away a lot of small straw porkpie hats to deserving little relatives. Gave some tops w sequins to younger sister. Gave some hardly-worn-at-all shoes to nice lady who works in our building and seems to have a very large family in a part of the world where, I'm told, pretty shoes are a rarity. To be continued.
DeleteLove these ideas, I'm going to try this with my closet! This would be a great post/thread as we come to the new year. I know I'd say shoes were a high point for me- the tweed Averys, paisley printed heels for sure are loves. I also started wearing the lookouts which was a switch from toothpicks and am finding the higher rise so much better.
DeleteI'm going to think about the rest. I do need to stop buying as much as I did lately. I kept caving to the promos.
such a great idea @cobalt; will do the same; I indulged in a few pairs, the pink lady coat and a few dresses...maybe it's time I stop the shopping and actually get more wear mileage on all those items purchased :(
DeleteI admit these website glitches make me think this is the universe's way of telling me to stop buying. I do try to sell what I'm not loving or wearing anymore so it's not as though my closets are overflowing, but still, I have more than my lifestyle calls for. Maybe it's a good time to take a break. After all, how many pairs of glittery shoes, black turtlenecks or coats does one need.
ReplyDeleteJust successfully placed an order for some wool Martie pants & a plain v-neck merino wool sweater in navy. $80-some total, not too shabby! Worth the earlier hassles, but it probably helped that I didn't have anything "new to sale" in my cart.
ReplyDeleteMy husband gave me the lovely tartan maxi for Christmas this year, and boy, it is super long! The material is substantial, and I understand where comments about it feeling rough are coming from. I'm trying to decide whether to keep it-- I know I can wear it to a formal event next month if I have it hemmed in time (pair w either navy or black cashmere t), but I'm not sure whether I would wear it casually. I'm 5'4" and 115#; the 00 fits my waist.
ReplyDeleteOh, and he paid full price since he didn't want it to sell out, but I know I saw it marked down/promo eligible leading up to Christmas, and I dislike paying full price for something that I'm not totally in love with, especially when alterations are required. I'm prob overthinking it :-)
Monica, I don't think you're overthinking it at all -- I would and have exercised the same line of thinking with many a purchase. I think that skirt seems like such a special, statement piece and I've seen a few JCAs style it wonderfully on their IG accounts. IKWYM about not being able to justify the full price paid especially if it's not a TOTAL love though. Sometimes when I'm on the fence like that, I just quickly return an item just so I could stop driving myself crazy with the 'should i/should i not' keep it decision. However, sometimes when I feel a piece is unique/hard to find something similar (in my world of shopping), I prefer to hang onto it, even if it doesn't get THAT much wear. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
DeleteThanks for your thoughts! I just managed to get a killer price adjustment ($161 back!!!) when it momentarily reappeared in stock. For that price, I'll keep and enjoy it. I am still shocked at such dramatic pricing swings, even though the subject comes up on here all the time.
DeleteYes!!!! That's awesome, good for you, glad it worked out so well!!! I love when problems are solved like that :-D
DeleteDefinitely call if an item is showing up on the website, but listed as sold out on the item detail page. I just called for one item that was listed as sold out, and was able to place my order with a helpful rep on the phone (although he didn't see the item was on sale on his end, and I had to walk him through how/where I'd found it listed as on sale on the website).
ReplyDeleteAlso, as someone else said before -- mobile view is showing different items available than desktop.
Some great deals to be had, for the persistent!
How do I access the mobile site on my iPad? Sometimes it shows up for me but most often the desktop site shows up. I've tried typing an M first. My iPhone (older) is also not viewing the mobile site. (I've googled and can't figure it out.)
Delete@SuzHas I'm "low tech," but try this link from my mobile phone. Didn't see a JC App.

DeleteThank you for those updates! I was surprised that some of those items are still in store as they were popular online. I saw some of the pink flamingo wool pants still in the sale section in store and was so surprised.
DeleteHappy to report I was able to use a gift card and do online returns in store no problem. (In Canada) the store was pretty busy, but great customer service as usual which is always great. :)
ReplyDeleteSite is still wonky for me. Sigh
