Lots of less spendy J.Crew alternatives here: Shop It: The Real Deal or The Real Steal.... :)
ReplyDeleteEverlane released a new sweater line today, the fitted sweater. Several styles in an extra fine merino. They run $65-$85 depending on the style. I love the mid sleeve and will likely order today. The color palette isn't as sexy as J. Crew but the quality and price points are very good.
ReplyDeleteOh! Thanks for the heads-up! I've always wanted to try Everlane but their styles are always a bit too straight/loose for my taste. I'll have to check out their new stuff.
DeleteI've been looking for a down coat/parka to replace an old (12 years, maybe?) LE puffer, and every year I can't find one that's right so I just wear it for another winter. I got the LE Premier Down Parka and it is just what I was looking for - lightweight but warm, has a hood, longer in the back, doesn't make me look like a rectangle. It has a bit of elastic ruching in the back to give it a little shape, and although it has patch pockets, there are also (fleece-lined) slit pockets at the sides. I find LE's sizing to be tricky sometimes because I'm a 4-6 in coats, which puts me between XS and S there. I got the parka in an XS (reviews say it ran big) and it fits great. I like it a lot better than the Wintress puffer I tried earlier in the season, and LE has been having lots of outerwear promos lately so I got it for $72.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that there will be crazy coat promos everywhere soon - the 10-day forecast predicts that it will be 62 and rainy here in upstate NY on Christmas Eve (WHAT!?).
@silver_lining, I've been in the market for a new coat too; wanted something with a pop of color since I don't currently have that in my closet. Was "stalking" the Vince drape wool coat in orchid in a med. Saks had a temporary sale (prices are back up now) where the coat was $243+20% off(Retail $675). After a bit of an "ordeal" that required an email to the Operations Manager & using the Dr. title (hate doing that, but for some reason, it changes the dynamics of the conversation), Nordstrom price matched, so I was able to score the coat. I agree about coat promos; it's been unseasonably warm here too in Dallas. That's great for my wallet!
Deletewow, thanks for that review silver_lining, I've been looking to replace my gap down parka that is 7+ yrs old but like you said, every year I can't find one that is as good and just keep wearing the old one. I even have a J C wintress puffer from last year and like it, but it's the long one and I wanted something shorter for long walks and for car use. I tried a down jacket from the north face and sent it back it was too short and not very warm. I just ordered another one from nordstrom to try but if that doesn't work out, the LE one is my next try! I like that they come in tall sizes at LE too, I have long arms.
DeleteTwo Cuyana reviews:
ReplyDeleteThe alpaca waffle-knit sweater is deliciously warm & lightweight, but unfortunately even the XS runs a bit too large & long for my 5’3” frame. Would’ve been a definite keep otherwise.
The classic alpaca cape is a much tighter knit, almost like a woven fabric, that drapes well. It’s still a lot of material, but the petite size isn’t too long in back (just covers my bum) and the longer front panels are easily reined in with a belt or tie. I don’t think the styling on Cuyana’s website does this piece justice, but a Google image search turns up plenty of creative outfits.
Cobalt, I bought the Cuyana alpaca cape last year. I got the regular size since I'm tall. I purchased camel, it is a beautiful shade. I also highly recommend this piece. I feel so chic when I wear it!
DeleteGlad to hear that you like the cape too, Desert Flower! I got the light grey, which should work well with my cool-toned wardrobe. The camel looks lovely, too.
DeleteAnthropologie has a new promo going today - 40% off all sweaters (regular & sale) plus free shipping on $100+. Regular price boots are also 25% off. More details, as well as my personal picks in this post. Lots and lots to love at Anthro! :)

ReplyDeleteI promised to report back when I washed the Ann Taylor flannel joggers I purchased a few weeks ago. I ran a pair through the delicate cycle on cold last night and hung them to dry. Aside from needing a little ironing, they are perfect. No shrinkage or other problems. Even the pockets are laying flat. They are a poly/wool blend (mostly wool). We know how I feel about poly but in this case it's probably why the pants aren't itchy and they wash well. Work appropriate pants that were a good price, travel well and aren't dry clean only. Win.
ReplyDeleteI've posted a review on my blog of a drapey sweater jacket I ordered from Nordstrom recently. Check it out here if you're interested. :)
ReplyDeleteSundance catalog is running a promo for this weekend: 20% off your order of $100+ & free 2-day shipping upgrade. More details, along with reviews, and my personal picks in this post.
ReplyDeleteAnthropologie: 20% off sitewide until the end of today. I've reviewed the Cubanas High Field Booties in this post.
ReplyDeleteI've shared a review for a pair of Eileen Fisher booties (purchased on sale at Nordstrom) here on my blog.
ReplyDeletePSA: The Eileen Fisher boots I reviewed here earlier this week, just received another markdown, so they're at 50% off now for those interested.
