The mild weather in the Northeast is causing a decrease in demand for winter coats. This NYT article references J Crew and says that the company needed a strong holiday season to recover from its downturn. Coats have always been a strong suit of J Crew (IMO), so I feel bad that this season may be a tough one for JC. On the other hand, it may mean some good deals ahead...

Very good read and thanks for sharing. I am a beneficiary of this winter "heat wave" since I was able to score a Vince coat @ Nordstrom that I've been wanting at a great price.
DeleteThanks for sharing the article, Cousy. Still, with sales on the slump, most of the nice coats in popular colors are sold out. Get ready for December 26...I know what I'll be doing that day. :)
DeleteI agree. I am very happy I bought the DOUBLE-CLOTH LADY DAY COAT WITH THINSULATE® in coastal green before it sold out. Now I'm stalking pop backs with the hope of catching it in Butternut in a size 4. Size 16 was back this morning but is already gone again.
DeleteYep, I've also heard that retailers will have a huge clearance on coats after Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI ordered the chateau parka a couple of days ago. It was only sale + an additional 30% off. I'm SHOCKED that it actually shipped! There were "only a few left" when I checked out and afterwards it appeared sold out on the item page. I hope I like it, but it does seem like a ridiculous purchase right now (I'm in NYC).
Just noticed another update to the website. Not sure how long ago it happened, but it's worth checking for popbacks if you're currently stalking. :)
ReplyDeleteI just returned an xxsmall gray flannel vest to the Princeton, NJ store if anyone is looking for one.
ReplyDeleteSo I received the Biella Oxford in Gold in 8 and 8.5. 8.5 was too long 8 was tight width wise and made my foot fart while I walked and it made the toe line crease badly with a sock. So after trying with a sock the 8.5 were the winners---just afraid once I pick up pace it may slip--but nothing a insole can't fix.
ReplyDeleteA review/IRL pictures of the J. Crew Brushed Wool-Blend Crewneck Sweater in Plaid HTH!
ReplyDeleteThere is jewelry in my B & M store that has been in the sale section for at least 3 months. It is still marked the same price. I really like one of the necklaces but it's still marked at 129.99. Even with additional 40% off that's not a good deal.
ReplyDeleteI received the collection cashmere pom pom sweater---as I took it out of the package I wondered if I had ordered a small (it was relaxed fit...) but no it was a medium.....then I noticed it was a bit too cropped for my taste but still put it on...I was like hmmm a little itchy for cashmere and as I took it off the hair got in my nose and I was like this feels like mohair....sure enough about 70 cash and 30 mohair....I can't stand mohair or angora because the loose hairs somehow fly up my nose and i'm constantly needing to swat them away.....so back it goes :(
