  1. I keep trying to buy the dang chateau parka but all the colors are sold out or disappearing!

  2. Combined with the free ship/no minimum, I think this is one of the better promos they've offered all week. I've shared my personal picks for the deal, along with links to reviews & IRL pics from myself and other bloggers in this post. Lots to love!

  3. I bit - my Tartan Elsie pumps shipped yesterday so I wanted a red blouse to wear with them - I picked up the silk V-neck blouse in Belvedere red and also the polished crepe blazer in ivory. Free shipping made me more likely to place an order.

    1. Anne - I agree, the free shipping makes it much easier to place an order. I'm going to give the lace skirt a try after seeing how gorgeous it is on you! Love that I didn't have to try to add on a bunch of other items to get the discount and free ship, either. Although the odds are in J.Crew's favor that I will place another order (or two) before the day is over since the shipping is free.

  4. I was finally able to wear my black one the other day as the weather where I live has been unseasonably warm but I just love this coat. The quality on this coat is so nice, it really feels special. I know not everyone is a fan, but I just love mine. I have it in black.

  5. If you want a good laugh, go to the J.Crew website and look at item e8912, crystal wreath earring. There is a stone missing in the stock photo on the right earring. Come on J.Crew, this is an all time low. I also noticed you can see little chips on some of the brulee necklace casings in the style guide photos. That is just crazy to me.

    1. Wow - impressive. This photo fail ranks up there with the photo of a ripped Collection dress a few years ago. I have only a few JC jewelry items but I buy them on super sale since I'm not sure of the durability.

    2. Oh my goodness. This really is an all-time low. I can't even take the company seriously anymore. Between the lack of pretty things (someone hit the nail on the head the other day about the store being all lumberjack plaid and ugly, misshapen sweaters), the atrocious quality, the questionable design, and the odd fits and silhouettes, J. Crew may be officially OVER. There are a few goods finds, but they are FAR and FEW between. There is simply no way to wear stylish, high quality clothes and have J. Crew be your place for shopping. Its worse than fast fashion because its hardly inexpensive.

    3. Apparently drunk J.Crew encompasses more than just their models.

    5. Well, at least they're being honest and upfront about their poor quality? Wow.

    6. Aaand it's still there this morning when I wanted to take a look for myself. Didn't they also have Old Navy shoes on the Factory site this summer?

    7. Bwahahahaha, I remember when they had those ON shoes on the Factory site!

Blakemdjohns, I (sadly) agree with everything you wrote. Maybe we should do a "Favorite Items of 2015" post (in the vein of all the December "countdown" shows) to see what everybody liked/ended up with this year. Perhaps it will give JC some inspiration for 2016. What do you think, Alexis?

    8. I love that idea! I actually bought and kept a decent amount of stuff. But next to nothing from their in-store offerings. And not nearly as much as prior years. Not a single pair of pants or denim. One sweater. Mostly outerwear and shoes for me.

  6. Question -

When JC promises 6-8 day delivery, does that mean from the day the item is ordered or from the day it leaves the warehouse or store? I'm assuming the latter.

I just got a shipping email 7 days after I ordered the item. I'm betting that it will be a slow delivery since shipping was free. This will be the second time this season that my JC items will take 2 weeks to get to me. Not including the most recent delivery which took 10 days from ordering. Needless to say, despite three orders in the last couple of months, I do not feel like a valued customer.

    1. Its the latter. But when it says 6-8 days shipping, J.Crew has to honor that time frame, and you should get your package by the 8th day.
I always email them asking, "Hey when will my package ship?" I don't say hey though..just being dramatic. lol.
It's harder for us West Coast, as it feels like an eternity when we get our packages. ugh.

    4. But remember it's 6-8 *working* days. I had something once that took upwards of two weeks to ship but there was a holiday & weekends... I know 'cause I emailed CS to ask! ;)

  8. Anyone try the Fair Isle classic turtleneck sweater (item E6055)? I'm curious about sizing in particular, any other thoughts would be great, too. Thanks!

    1. Maryeb...I ordered the fair isle tneck and it is very short and boxy. I am 5'9 and had to size up on account of the short length...the size up had slightly more length but was just so boxy and shapeless it wasn't a keeper for me. As far as quality it felt like an average sweater...not too thin or thick and very so-so.

  9. I received the Stripe Tunic w/ faux fur trim today. It definitely is on the large size. I ordered an XXS/XS (on popback), worried it wouldn't fit, but there is still room, and plenty. Drop shoulders, unfortunately, which makes it look sloppy. There is so much room/fabric around the pit/shoulder area, what a mess. I don't know why I didn't look at the online photos closely. If the shoulders were designed the traditional way, It would make the tunic look polished. Also it would have been nice if the tunic was made of a thicker cotton material. It looks kind of flimsy.

I can't think of other bottoms to pair the tunic with aside from the navy pixies. Maybe with skinny jeans? Since the faux fur trim is bulky; boyfriend, baggy, wide-leg jeans or slacks will not work. I'm probably going to have to return it...a fun piece, but not well thought of.

  10. I bit this morning - the Collection Preston denim trousers, the neon tweed long sleeved dress. I've seen the dress in store and can't say it was a big want for me but for $77 I figured I might try it. I haven't seen the Preston pants in person and am expecting to have to return them given the way JCrew pants fit me these days. I sized up in case my tailor can work some magic. Also the wool-silk tribal scarf. Online this is a men's scarf but someone left one in the women's section of the store and I thought it was pretty.

    1. Looking forward to your review of the denim Preston trousers!

  11. The Preston denim trousers look really nice.

I am so frustrated by the pants (just got two long awaited orders so I'll post some brief reviews in the reviews section!) but I just ordered the wide leg pants in wool in black and glen plaid. When they first came out I mistakenly ordered two of my smaller size and they were just too tight to feel comfortable, but out of all the pants I've tried on this season they have been my favorites, aside from the full length pant in bi stretch wool, which are nice but not super fashionable, just a good pair of pants. I sized up two sizes in the glen plaid which may be huge, and took my usual in the black wool, which may still be a little tight. But for the reduced price, worth a shot.

Since the glitter Elsies are by far my favorite purchase of the season, I ordered the glitter flats with the ankle strap. Since it seems I may mostly be wearing jeans I may as well dress them up. I also ordered the tortoise bracelet with scattered stones. For $15 it looks cute.

  12. I went to a store today to return a couple things and look around. They are having the same promos as online. If anyone is looking for the 'blooming sequin paillette bib necklace', I saw 3 of them at the Southpark mall in Charlotte.

  13. Did anyone here purchase the Collection cashmere-blend Fair Isle pencil skirt? It's popping back up in different sizes and there aren't a ton of reviews. I'm trying to figure out if I should buy a small or medium. I'm a solid JCrew size 6, but the S, M, L throws me off for bottoms.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Most likely fits on the small side. When in doubt order two different sizes...I made the mistake of ordering the merino midi skirt in P2 (which is usually my go to size), since it stretches, oh it will fit me. Wrong. Its a tad snug. Now I'm waitlisted for a P4.
As long as you have no problem returning, get two sizes. :)

      Delete
    2. Well I doubt it will come back in a S and M at the same time and I can't really afford to do both at the same time. The one reviewer said the waist ran small, but I have a very small waist for my hip size. Last time I ordered up, when others did, it was too big. I might just have to go with my gut.

      Delete
    3. I thought it fit pretty true. It has some give. I am usually a 14 in bottoms and got the large. I love the fit on it compared to the sweater pencil skirt. That one ran large (for me, anyway). It's a beautiful skirt and hasn't pilled yet.

    4. Customer Service can provide you with measurements for the different sizes, which I always find super helpful. I almost never have to return something because the size is wrong

    5. I bought my regular size small and it fits great. Even though there's a zipper the waistline is stretchy so there's plenty of give. I was surprised by a review that said the waist was tiny, it stretches....I love my skirt. It's gorgeous. I was so sad I missed the matching sweater. I was waiting and waiting for it to come out and the morning it did my size sold out instantly. I had a hard time finding the right boots to wear though...if they're too tall the skirt hits them at a weird place, and too short looks odd. I haven't found my perfect pairing!

  16. Looks great on you. how do you compare the fit to the Lady Day? Doesn't look as fitted.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thanks Ana! This one is definitely not as fitted as the Lady Day, and if I didn't have broad shoulders, I think I could possibly have sized down to a 0. The silhouette on this one is more of an a-line shape, so it's more forgiving in the stomach, hip, & thigh area, too.
