"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. As per my post yesterday...check and make sure all your returns have been processed (if your use a credit card) they forgot to do mine.

    1. @9:26 a.m. Did you buy online and then return in store? Wouldn't the credit automatically go thru on the credit card company's end? What was it that the SA forgot to submit? Thanks for the heads up!!!

    2. Mirielle, I think she's in Canada and they do returns differently there...

    3. hi...yes I am in Canada. the return was from a online order and returned instore. It should go back to Borderfree and then credited directly to my credit card. What the store didn't due (although they did send back the items to the US.) was to put through the return to Borderfree ? At least that is what the CS on the tele told me. I was waiting and waiting for the $400 credit to show up and then with the holidays I was busy. Decided to call a few days ago and see what was happening....that is when CS said the items had indeed been returned but I had not been credited...OMG J CREW !

    6. Always make sure they give you the paper copy /print-out that they made the return to borderfree. Then you should get an email from borderfree later the same day (or next business day) confirming the return and amount being credited.

  3. The day when they were offering $10 overnight shipping to get the order in time for Xmas I was a bit slow in placing my order and missed the deadline (by like, one minute). The price literally went from $10 to $25 in my cart when I was about to hit the Submit button so I called them to see if they could still honor it. Ok, my fault, but the SA gave me really a hard time. Since she said that the deadline was passed and they couldn't honor it I asked if she could at least waive the $5 shipping (it wasn't a sale item and it was over $100) since I was disappointed that I couldn't get the item by Xmas. Again I was lectured about the shipping fee and the 6 to 8 business days time. In the end she waived it but it wasn't a plaisant experience. My item arrived today which is very slow compared to how fast it usually is in NYC. All this to say, just offer the free shipping on any order and make it easier for the customers.

    1. I placed an order on the morning of Dec 22 but didn't care if it arrived in time for x-mas so I just did the free ship option (my order was over $175) and it arrived yesterday. I was happy with the process.

  4. So after trying to find something for ages to spend my rewards on before the deadline today, I got a pair of PJs in store yesterday. Got them home and found that the top was from PJ set in one size and the bottoms were a single item, same plaid in a size smaller. So I have to go back and hopefully they give me a regular gift card or credit to my account. I don't have time to do the painful task of trying to find something to buy at J Crew. I hope they get it together in 2016, I had no trouble spending money at Madewell and Nordstrom yesterday.

    1. Sorry to be whining but another vent. I returned my PJs yesterday and did purchase a couple of items but of course final sale. Went across the mall to Madewell, same % off sale items but not final sale. I don't understand that J Crew.

  5. If you have anything being shipped from a store, have patience. I just checked on my Madewell order from Monday and it is coming from a store. When I called the store, they told me they had over 500 orders to process and they didn't even know if they still had my stuff since they had been so busy. They were kind enough to check and inform me that they had 3 of the 4 items. Hopefully, another store will have the remaining item. I can just see stuff getting snatched up in store before it even gets a chance to fill online orders. That stinks for those of us with orders but great for the people that are in store.

  6. I received three dresses yesterday from an order on the 26th. Two dresses were fine, but the third was folded messily and slung through a pant hanger. Total mess. Unwearable.

    1. I should add that since then I have been in touch with them and they are sending me another dress at no charge and I will be sending back the other that was a mess. Bad that it happened but they handled it well.

  7. I ordered two coats on dec 25. Received the lady day coat but the double cloth collarless coat order is open and it's not even on the website anymore!
I was in store yesterday making my returns and I saw a SA with a stack or papers rummaging through the already cramped (and in total disarray) sale section for what l assume was online order fulfillment,
