Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

    2. Thanks for sharing Rose! It feels spring like to me.
I'm really in love with the skirt and stripe tee, might be better priced than the St James tee I have backordered.

      Cute stuff!

      Delete
    3. @JSR it is the deck striped tee for 49.50 (E1143)

    4. Thanks Ina! Half the price of the St James. I hope the quality and fit is better. I can see that it's also drop shoulders, same as the St James.

  2. I stopped in yesterday for the first time in a while. The vintage cropped jeans in rinse wash got another cut to $39.99, so I picked them up for $19.99 (50% still going on in stores).

    1. I did the same, at $20 the cropped jeans were too good to pass up! Also got the geo-print and the mint gingham shirts for about $30 each. Store had a lot of merino Tippis in the sale section which must have been shipped there as they don't sell them regularly instore anymore. Lots of shorts and denim on sale, fewer shoes than usual, assorted dresses and skirts.

      Delete
    2. Can I venture a guess that all the Tippi's you saw were silver or pewter or ash? Wait - maybe that's what they were going for last season with the Tippi's - 50 shades of grey???

      Delete
    3. No grey Tippis at all actually - navy, mango, modern red, aqua, tan, oatmeal, pink!

  3. I'm going today to make returns.

  4. Also, Photos are uploading on Pinterest. As usual, snail pace, so we won't see the Women's uploaded all the way till probably Sunday. Keep your eyes peeled!

  5. I picked up a new Style Guide in store last night. I've marked several items, but what I really want is the grey kitten on page 52. It also comes as a set of three on page 51. There aren't style numbers or prices for these items in the guide, and my VPS hasn't been able to help me out. Do any JCA's have information? I think these items will go pretty fast . . .

    1. Yes, me too. I wonder if they come in other colors? They are one of the cutest items in the style guide. I'll bet they are collection pieces. :)

      Delete
    2. Ok, the 'collection' comment has me intrigued. I thought you were talking about kittens of the feline persuasion, 'a set of three'.
      Are these shoes???

      Delete
    3. It is a joke...There are really pictures of kittens in the newest style guide.

      Delete
    4. That's what I thought when I first read JenniferD's post, but your comment got me, Doodle Daschund :) Good One!!
I do love kittens, though, feline and the shoe variety. Looking forward to seeing the guide.
      Thanks

    5. I hope the kittens get a free shipping upgrade from the free six to eight days UPS ground. Even thought they are a new item, I also wonder if they will be FS. Will JC offer a price adjustment on them if the single kitten or set of kittens are marked down?

  6. I stopped in my B&M last night and it was empty of merchandise, the stuff they did had was widely spaced on tables to make it look like they had more. The racks were also very sparse and no August catalog.

    1. I think they have inventory coming up very soon so I think they are really trying to clear things out. I called my usual out of town store yesterday for some assistance with finding some items and they told me that things should be turning around soon. They said corporate is starting to listen to them and the customers. He told me that a version of the schoolboy blazer was coming back. He also told me how grateful he was that I shopped with them and he really valued our relationship and it wasn't in a sappy way it was sincere. I am still finding lots to love and still dressed head to toe J.Crew today and everyday. I do have an occasional vent but for the most part,I still love J.Crew. I will be going by my local store at lunch. Prefer my out of town store better, but they are 5 hours away.

      Delete
    2. J.Crew has the widest repertoire and caters to my clothing needs from everyday, homebody to sexy date-night transformation. I love them for that. I do wish they'd make REAL leather heels for a change (not patent, not suede, NOT sequins, NOT fabric!).

  7. I went to a store on Wednesday to return a few things and look around. The sale section was very full but also very picked over. A store associate told me they were getting some new arrivals today and then lots more on Monday. I wasn't able to get the new style guide.

  8. OT, but seeing all those JC wedding dresses on super sale, many from years ago, reminded me that JC didn't have a wedding promotion this past spring. Isn't that when they always had it?

Tom Mora, the recently canned women's design head at JC, had come from the wedding division. He wasn't great at women's. but I liked the wedding dresses that came out under his watch. I wonder if they'll continue offering the wedding stuff? It might be time to focus and pare down their offerings.

  9. Does the new style guide have any good statement necklaces?

    ReplyDelete

    1. There is the Paillette necklace e3253 and the gem cluster choker e2664 and the crystal foliage statement necklace e3004. There are also also a pendant necklace (dragon flynecklace and a small popflower necklace.HTH

  10. OT, but I got an awesome Barbour jacket from the Nordstrom Anniv. sale. It's olive and a little longer (covers the butt). I love it! And it was a pretty good price. But I have a downtown field jacket in black. Is it redundant to keep both?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I and my sister both just picked up Barbour jackets at their outlet store, fantastic pricing - the quality of their pieces are far above JC's in my experience, so I'd definitely keep both!

      Delete
    2. Barbour outlet, that is, not Nordstrom...

      Delete
    3. @jruby18-The Barbour is a classic, so I would keep that. I debated on whether to buy the Field jacket, but decided to buy the Barbour instead. I love my Barbour. It fits perfectly and I wear it with everything. Can you return the Field jacket?

      Delete
    4. Thanks - I think I'm going to keep it. They're different lengths and different colors. (black and olive). I can't return the Field Jacket, but I did get it for like $55, so I guess I shouldn't feel that guilty.

  11. I'm not going to the store this weekend, but I do have an item I'd like to unload (final sale, ugh!).

I purchased the long torso two-tone ring halter tank in the bright azure color, size 10...and I HATE it! It's certainly a nice suit, but doesn't work for me. Would anyone want it? I'm not looking to sell it, just to give it away.

If anyone is interested, please email maggielarkin@hotmail.com Thanks!

  13. I went to my store this afternoon but left empty handed. The promos are so good but stock is low and nothing fits me well! I wanted to love the vintage crops for 19.99 net but the high rises and saggy crotches have been such a problem for me in the last few roll outs.

The SAs confirmed that fall will have noticeable improvements in fit and the School Boy will be back in some form. Yes! Now if they would bring back the Matchstick and Cafe Capri fits in some way, I would be thrilled.

When I say I left empty handed, I mean totally empty handed ... I was refused an August Style Guide. I cannot understand why you would refuse a customer IN YOUR STORE who is asking you for product information ... plain stupid customer service from a company that really needs to hold on to its customers!

    4. I finally got my hands on the style guide. My store just hired a new VPS, so I asked her if I can have one. She asked the manager and justified the released by saying, 'She's (referring to me) dressed from head to toe in J Crew!'...haha...I guess that's the ticket, right? Anyway, the style guide has some lovely shoes and some SUPER cute kittens!

    5. One would think that patrons who have received $75 reward card for a 2 consecutive seasons, would have the catalog shipped before the rest sees it, without calling/begging in a store, right?!? On Wed, I was refused a catalog in one of the NYC stores. When I told the associate that I know the catalog is already out, she blatantly denied that, I also, said that it's ok if I just browse through it without taking it home. She also couldn't tell which NYC store is a concept store, didn't know what to do when I had "a ok" to return a final sale item.... this is why is shop online. I am leaving for a business trip next week, so my focus will be elsewhere. No worries, JCrew, will wait for sale....

    6. After that sour experience, I went to GAP across the street, bought three, great athletic items for under 50 bucks (total!), then went to Century21 Store - a department store selling mostly European designer stuff, amazing deals during their semi-annual(?) clearance that just began.

      Delete
    7. Oh dear-you might order something without a promo, or share photos of new items online and create buzz for the roll-out. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot, J Crew!

      Delete
    8. So strange - both the Burlington and Cambridge stores (Massachusetts) had the catalogs out for all takers last week - no big deal. Why would there be a difference between stores? The Cambridge store also had a small few new rollout items available - Sloan heels and flats among other things.

    9. It's so weird how they don't like to give the style guide early. JCrew is losing customers that way. I was going to ask an SA when I made my return but I hate being denied (sad trombone). They guard it like its gold. Geez, JCrew.

      Delete
    10. I would be all "well, for you, I can get one" and then hope you totally spread it all over social media, creating some buzz. Come on JCrew, use your fans! Use us, I say!

    12. ruffles, I just tried on the Vintage Cropped jeans in Rinse wash and I wanted to like them but they just didn't look very good on me. The cut on top is odd.

Beware all - the 30 day return policy is being strictly enforced now (for items purchased in the store).

    13. @anon - The concept store is in Brookfield Place. I went to 3 different stores all over the city to try to get the August style guide and they all told me they didn't receive it yet.

    14. It truly boggles my mind that a NYC based company would have catalogs available all over the States, but NYC!

Thanks for the info, Fran, I knew that, just after her ignorant response that catalog is not out yet, I asked her a few questions to which I knew answers to, all about which she was clueless.
All became irrelevant after shopping @ Century21 later that afternoon, though :) !

    15. I live in po-dunk Portland Oregon and my store gave me an August catalog last week. I didn't ask for it. They gave me one. don't understand any store or employee saying no to giving a customer a catalog. Just another thing J. Crew needs to remedy.

    16. Thanks for the heads-up on the vintage cropped jeans... I've had my eye on them online but couldn't decide.

I'm so short (especially in the torso) that I have issues with rises and sagginess, so it sounds like they would be uggo on me.

  14. I have a question. Why does JC not move all the old stuff to Factory? If they don't want to load up factory with out-of-season stuff. They can do what Saks and NM and PoloRalph Lauren do - warehouse the stuff until the appropriate season. I also regularly see rounders and end-caps marked "Newly arrived from the fifth avenue store" or similar at these and other "classy" outlet stores, and I must say I've scored some fabulous stuff.

As to why the style guide is being hidden like a capitalist tract in a communist nation, this is not the first time I've wondered whether JC management understands the whole willing buyer/willing seller pricing and merchandising dynamic.

    2. WFF, I had the same thought: move Factory stuff to Mercantile, turn Factory stores into clearance centers for retail (and maybe even previous year's Mercantile) stock. Genius.

    3. It seems so incredibly out of touch in today's world of retail when you have the ability to share information, even in limited amounts, as a tease to create interest. This weird hoarding just irritates me. It's not like they are pulling the cloth off a million dollar piece of artwork, it's a catalog or "style guide".

  16. Went to Northpark Mall to make a return and get a price adjustment. Ended up buying vintage crop jeans in dark rinse for $17 and a pair of gold slides for $10w/tax. Accessories still 75% off and 75% off also includes shoes not in the box. Signs still say 50%, but SAs are telling customers about the discount & when you get to the register, clerks are also telling customers again.

  17. Pinterest is rolling out the J Crew pins although still they are waiting to release the women's last. Why not roll them out first and we can be excited to discuss them all weekend rather than make us wait until everything else comes out first?! I'm pretty sure J Crew knows we are here and enjoy discussing such things.

  20. Dropped in to make several returns 4 dresses and 1 top (I bought the items ~ 1 months ago on a pull price 40% off promo but haven't worn because I had a feeling the prices would drop and of course they have, dranatically, so I returned all the items as I was too far out for the 7 day price adjustments period). Most of the items I simply repurchased online at a lower price ( ~ 25-40 dollar difference per item). The prices changes are crazy and I'm almost starting to think maybe it's worth it to just get an item for a bit more not to have a stalk the website for pop backs...it incredibly is tiring and irritating to see an item you purchased not even a month ago has dropped so drastically in price. I love jcrew and my closet is chalked full of there items but I have a agree with the general consensus, the sales are much too frequent to have confidence in the value of a full priced itemand the prices to overall the places. Maybe if they just dropped the initial sales prices they wouldn't have to constantly run these promos. It seem like there is one constantly. Ugh. I left with a scarf and two pair of tights for a total of 15 bucks, not bad for me but not good for the store. The sale section was sparse picked over and so was the jewerly.

  22. Did stop by since I was in the mall. My favorite SA offered me a style guide without even asking. I actually told her the story of how other JCAs were refused and she was shocked. Sale section picked over and some items revealed how they will look after a few wearings. Did purchase a jewelry tray for $4. Good news for new arrivals, I actually dog earred pages which I have not done in a long time. Tippi fans, lots of new colors, a cute polka dot one with shoulder buttons and they are now offered in petite. Love the vintage scarf print, (there is a perfect shirt in this), the marble print and the autumn floral but that is collection and I only saw one blouse in that print but great transition colors. The sloan dorsay flat is interesting in calf hair and suede. As mentioned the Downtown field jacket in deep burgundy is lovely and I like the new Gemma ballet flat which is pointy. New item is a lightweight merino wool cardigan with gold buttons, they are calling the Jackie(??). Hope it is not the Tilly with new buttons and a new name. There is a shirtdress (C9227) in metallic champagne which looks nice but I have a feeling it pinned within a inch of it's life to make it look fitted. Last is the Peyton Hobo bag, I believe this is new but it maybe too big for me. My store said new arrivals will be out on the floor on Tuesday,

    2. Jackie cardigans and shells are a J.Crew staple that have been offered for years. Many JCAs have complained that they are no longer in stores and can only be purchased online - disappointing since they are such a work-appropriate classic. Glad to see they are up front and center in the catalog. I actually dog-eared that page as I liked the color the model was wearing with white jeans and leopard-print pumps - cute transition outfit!

    3. JenniferD, I agree, I have as many Jackie's (cotton variety) as I have Tippis, which is a lot, but this version is made of wool, I thought that was new???

  23. Thank you to the JCA(s) who mentioned that final sale out of box sandals were also 75% off right now. I picked up the Cypress and Isla sandals for around $12. Straps seemed to fit my narrow, flat foot quite closely, though going to be more posing than walking footwear for me. I take 8.5 regularly in JC shoes but took Isla in 8 and Cypress in 9. Also offered the elusive style guide! The Canadian version which is much thinner than the US catalogue and interestingly does not show any prices at all this time. JC hedging bets on where the Canadian dollar is heading, so prices can be adjusted online later?

Heard Vancouver JC stores will have the new rollout out on the shop floors on Wednesday morning.

  24. Three visits in this week which hasn't happened in quite a while. Stopped in at Coral Gables. SAs were very nice. Sale area was picked over, yet they had multiple pairs of midnight floral pumps! I left without making a purchase. The next day I received a $50 off $150 coupon via email. At my local store two SAs read the fine print then allowed me to stack the $ off with the 30%/50%store promo but not 75%. Picked up the midnight floral pants, brushstroke shirt, couple of tippis, batik swing sweater, striped eyelet skirt, and several other summer staples all for $120 with tax. I also left with an August style guide. Stopped back earlier today. Someone had just returned a Dharma necklace. $30 after 75%. It is so nice to be able to write something positive.
