Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I popped In to Factory at our local mall. I was one of two customers - on a summer Sunday!! The mall was having a promotion for 20% off any purchase and right on the coupon was a list of stores - including JC Factory. Nevertheless the young man checking me out refused to take the coupon, he insisted first that JCF wasn't participating, and when I showed him the little list, he claimed that a minimum spend of $100 was required and it applied only to FP items. He refused to even look at the coupon which had no such limitations. I took out my school ID and said "I dare you to refuse to accept this." He blinked, but then when I told him my email address was already on the account so I didn't need to recite it again, he said the register wouldn't take the sale without it.

I know it's summer and I know that JC let go a lot of the higher-paid (for which read experienced) help, but a jerk like this should never have been turned loose on an unsuspecting public.

Another observation: no mirrors on the sales floor, and the 3-way mirror seems to have disappeared from the fitting room. The staff insisted they had never had any. Soooo not classy, JC.

    1. Jerk is too polite a word for that man. He acted as if that discount is coming out of his paycheck!

The fitting room at the Factory store I visit always had a three way mirror at the back outside the individual rooms. Never had any? Yeah, right.

    2. Crazy!

Also I too am annoyed about the email runaround at Factory... I already get their emails and tell them that, but they ask for it anyway... I hate to give it again as I have several gmail accounts not *exactly* sure which address they currently have for me. What I usually do now is say "can I opt out of that please" and that avoids the whole mess. Would not be at all surprised to hear them say they needed it to make the sale go through. sigh!

    3. Not that his behavior is excusable in any way, but regarding the email capture thing and why they ask over and over: in my past experience working in retail some companies track their email captures and penalize the stores/associates if they don't hit a certain target. My last job was minimum 50% email capture rate. Sometimes rewards cards would bring the email up, but if not you'd have to try and ask,and some customers would (understandably) get frustrated. It was a big enough deal for us that they told us to make emails up if we couldn't get them. Sooo glad I'm not doing that anymore.

    4. It's odd though that it doesn't show on the JC account ? I've had people ask if I still have the email on the account...

    5. Wow that sounds like an infuriating experience. Certainly not what you would deliberately plan to repeat. Don't these sales associates realize that they are in the customer service business, not the petty power- passive aggressive business?

  2. No, but of course did place two orders. Got a shipping notice on the linen pants I ordered shipped but hoping the swimsuits will ship soon as I would like them for the beach and leaving this Saturday.
