Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I will probably check it out since I will be in town for an appointment.

  2. Probably will go as always but it's been the same old junk on the clearance rack for months though but I did see one left of a pastel peachy geo tank and the geo skirt with the black purple white pattern so I bought those since they were my size. Both amazing deals since they were from awhile ago.

  3. Yesterday's sale was great at University Village in Seattle. Good selection in the sale section.

  4. I visited one of my local stores this week to make a purchase of the Boyshirt in Crinkled Navy Gingham...I was waiting for it to go on sale but was always excluded from promo and I desperately needed to replace my old one so I went for it. The store looked like the online sale section: a mismatch mess of spring/summer items that no one wanted. Even at deep discount, there was nothing that peaked my interest at all. I have told myself I won't buy anything from J.Crew or Madewell until the Fall 2015 items release which is said to be in August.

  5. One week from today, the August style guide will upload on Pinterest. Cannot wait! I'm tired of looking at the stuff that is currently online.

OT - I received the Bluma Project Dharma necklace. Currently on sale, with the extra 40%. I like it a lot. Maybe because J.Crew didn't design it. It reminded me of something designer brand-Marni would create. Remember back when J.Crew necklaces looked like Marni knock-offs? I miss that J.Crew...also when it uses Italian textiles (jacquard), mixing fun prints, designs that were similar to Italian fashion houses, Prada or Marni. I hope to see some of that this Fall, J.Crew!

    1. JSR.....thanks for the review of the Bluma Dharma necklace. I've been looking at that one but couldn't decide and had read no reviews on it. I like it because it looks like a vintage Bakelite piece. Might have to take the chance and order it!

    2. You're welcome, Stray Cat. Too bad its final sale. I wonder how the chain will last / hold up, only because it looks delicate. I checked Bluma Project's website and it says:

Inspired by Moroccan tiles and motifs. Handmade by artisans in the Philippines with resin beads on gold ball chain.

I think its a fun necklace. I plan on wearing it with the St James slouchy breton, and jeans. A stripe tee will make the necklace stand out even more.

Hope it works out for you, too.

  7. I've (uncharacteristically) made visits to two JC stores this week: Copley and Burlington (Massachusetts). Copley's sale section was as big as I've ever seen it, and as always meticulously organized. The Burlington sale section was not as big or as organized. Each store had huge quantities of specific and different items - do they ship stuff around during 50% periods? The Copley store must have had 100 pairs of Reese track pants and a ton of the poorly selling high heeled strappy sandals. The Burlington store had a ton of the high heeled espadrilles and Abbott flipflops.

Notably, the store prices were not as good as yesterday's 50/60% off promo. I walked out of both stores empty handed but purchased 3 items from the site yesterday.

    Looking forward to fall...

  8. OT - the top of the factory website now says "the online home of jcrew mercantile" interesting...

    1. I just read a couple of articles about this and it seems that a mercantile store will be opening in TX later this month. They describe it as merchandise previously offered exclusively at out outlet stores. Not good. They're trying to branch off and make an old navy type store. My concern is how many times can you offer the same clothes? And quality at J crew is declining so what possibly could anyone desire to buy there? I buy or bought at J crew because of quality. This is not a good move IMO.

  9. I will probably stop by just to see if there is anything exciting going on, maybe something good that someone returned...You never know. I only have two more packages coming today and that is it for me. I would like to give a shout to item C4088, striped linen short, they are awesome, went down one size. I am also expecting the herringbone linen short today in chambray color and I think they will be nice as well, especially with the pinwheel batik linen swing sweater. Annnnnd, even though I was on the fence about the ikat pants with the metallic tux stripe, I bought them when they went on sale this week. I really like them. I also ordered a pair of the Valencia espadrilles in fresh raspberry. They will be here today, hope they work. I think they are really cute as well. There are certainly a lot of duds but I am happy with my purchases this week and especially the prices...Hope the espadrilles are shipped in a box!

    1. Hi Doodle D! I own the stripe linen short, too! I'm surprised at how cool it looks.

  10. have not visited a store in a while, but picked up some nice items at great prices this week online: metallic d'orsay loafer flats ($75), silk midnight floral cocoon top ($20), linen halter maxi dress ($50), jungle silk dress ($180), and the garden party necklace ($54). I also got the laser cut floral dress in navy, which I am not sure I will like and is final sale, but at $36, I thought it was worth the risk...

  11. Went to the Southcenter Seattle location today and was the only one in the store apart from two SAs, who were very pleasant. Same old stuff in the store. Some random discounts, like 25% off hair accessories. Sales racks were 50% off per signage, but not a ton there. As I browsed I was told that all the sale accessories were 75% off and they stacked my teacher discount. Wound up with some socks for $1.27 and the midnight floral infinity scarf for $10. Best deals I've ever gotten at J. Crew. Too bad there wasn't more that was appealing.

  12. Did stop by to say hi to my two favorite SAs since my shopping there has dropped so much and miss seeing them. Did pick up the Vintage Cropped Jeans for $30 based on reviews from JCAs.

    2. I got the vintage cropped jeans last night for $30 as well! Also got the boyshirt in crinkled gingham in vivid aqua and three bracelets (store had 75% off sale accessories).

  13. I walked thru the store on my way to Sephora. I checked for the plumeria skirt (review) and it wasn't on the rack. I got on my phone and saw that it had popped back in my size so I walked back in and had the store order it. I hope it ships.

  14. OT: First of all -- the ultimate respect to Alexis, creator of JCA. I'm certain she will address the J. Crew Mercantile. She usually doesn't post new content on the weekends, so I started a post. I sometimes write posts outlining my feelings when we have big J. Crew news or white cards scandals (lol), but don't set up posts in the same way Alexis so expertly does.

With that said, Let's Talk about The Ultimate SmacKdOwN?.

  15. An early review - Factory store has the Expedition vests. I tried it on in white/off-white (not sure) and the neck came up really high. I'll have to try my old ones on, but I don't think they did that. The current version has the slanted pockets.

  16. I didn't see this posted anywhere else on the site, but there are reports of Boston area TJ Maxx and Marshall's carrying J.Crew again (like they did in 2009)! On my way to my local stores today to try and find some!

    1. I did some reconnaissance at my local TJ Maxx and Marshalls -- here what they had:

C3800 color WSI (white tee with silver Palm trees), orig 42.50, priced 24.99

C7178 color IVO and HDL and NAV (sleeveless top with vertical mesh stripes on sides), no original price on tag, priced 29.99

C5160 color NTD and PTS (white and blue or pink and lavender tie dye pocket tee), orig 45.00, priced 24.99

C3823 color GRA (grey beige vneck tee with gold and white hexagons), orig 39.50, priced 19.99

C8093 color HCL and WHI (sleeveless plain drapey top in white and gray), original 32.50, priced 14.99

C7010 color WHI (boxy top with tassels on side and embossed type design down front), orig 78.00, priced 29.99

C7009 color HCH (heather gray tee with white stitching forming a tropical leaf design), no orig price, priced 24.99

All items had summer 2015 on tag.

Why do you think they did this? It's so odd to me!

    2. Still pricey for the maxx... Can get better deals with sales.

    3. I think it must be too much inventory. I think this is the reason TJ mAX gets alot of merch. they also had recently alot of C Wonder ( TORI BURCHS ex's store ) but that store went under. I think J Crew is going to do a big shake up with the new mercantlie crap.....oh Mickey what are you thinking...days of old navy are over. fast fashion is just bad...IMO

    4. I think Mercantile is just going to be a store that sells the same stuff as Factory but in locations other than outlet malls. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-07-10/j-crew-debuts-value-focused-mercantile-brand-to-spark-growth "The shop features the same products designed for and sold in J. Crew’s outlet locations, said Margot Fooshee, a spokeswoman."
Also, the Factory site already says "online home for J. Crew Mercantile." So I'm not expecting much of a shake up at all.

  17. Got an August style guide...there is a very pretty marble print on several items. There is a bold stripe boy shirt that is really cute. There is a new chino, the Sunday slim. They are already in the store and are featured in the catalog. Shoes and jewelry are marginal IMO. Tons of Tippis for the Tippi fans. That is about it.

    1. Thanks for the report DD. That marbleized print sound promising as does Tippis! Can't wait to see it even though I don't want summer to end.

  19. I really wanted to order some shorts from J.Crew, but ...

    1) the Canadian dollar conversion is close to 1.25 meaning it's a 25% premium.

    2) the colours were kinda meh at J.Crew.

    3) the Gap had 40% off so they got me. Along with free shipping!

A short sleeved shirt, a tee, shorts and a tote all for less than $90! Hello deals and it looks like I can be bought if the price is right. Here's hoping things fit and look decent when they arrive.

  20. I didn't make it to Jcrew this weekend but I plan to go next week. I want to try on those vintage cropped jeans everyone is raving about and check to see if a few things on my list are available and marked down! I'm trying to wrap up my summer shopping but the deals are so gosh darn good everywhere right now. H&m had extra 30% off clearance so they got my business this weekend.
