This is one of the better promotions I have seen at J.Crew. I love that the additional percent off full priced items is 40%!!! That is huge. Remember when they rarely did a percent off full priced items?!?

Also, it is about time for them to up the additional percent off on certain final sale items. 75% off is a great start. They just need to add more items to the Final Sale category because items are still lingering. Also remember when there use to be just 600 items in the sale section, and 2000 seemed like we hit the jackpot?!?

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? What item are you hoping to pick up? Please share!

  2. Will pick up the now no named Tilly Sweater..willing to try it for this price...and this pair of very light wash look out high rise...Both items are 75% off...Only thing is that the waist on the lookouts feels kind of stiff and suffocating..Other than these two things I didn't see much at 75% even worth getting. Tons of bathing suits which I have no interest in and not much else that looks even worth any price :)

  3. Finally, the Seaside pants are 40% off. Picked up all colors.

  4. Matchsticks in Pitch Black and White for 17.50, Jackies and Pixies for 12, great staples for the prices. Crazy. Ordered multiples plus the Linen Cargo Skirt. Almost ordered the Getaway Cashmere Hoodie for 35 but I found the quality of the one I ordered last year so poor that I talked myself out of it, even for that price.

    Happy shopping everyone.

    1. Yes, the hoodie seem to have mixed reviews. I have gotten one months ago and have no complains re: quality (considering the price - 35)! Maybe the quality differs among colors?

    2. I think that's right, anon. I recall my black one held up much better than the one in the snow color!

  6. I scored the chain mail sandals for $25 and the drapey patio pants for $7.50. The pants are a bit of a risk but for that price they were worth a chance. They look super comfy, so they may end up being around-the-house pants. This is the best sale I ever seen at J. Crew, but I have to agree with RN- there wasn't all that much I even considered.

  7. I couldn't find anything I wanted left in my size. Boo. Should've gotten up earlier.

  8. The website was crazy slow this morning. In the couple of hours I've been browsing (with interruptions, mind you) either they removed a ton of stuff or it just sold out that fast.

I picked up the Amalia high-heeled sandals in black ($47) and the Nylon performance jacket ($35). Of course I didn't *need* another pair of black shoes, but at that price point I just couldn't resist. The jacket will come in handy in the fall when the weather turns cooler and I can walk the couple of miles it takes to get to my office.

  9. I can't recall J Crew ever having a 75% off sale. Can anyone else?

On the one hand I think it is important for them to truly clear out the old stuff so they can begin anew, but it is still somewhat alarming - there are many items that are 90% off their original prices. I can only imagine what the next quarterly earnings numbers are going to be like.

    1. Nope to the 75% off sale online, this is a first in the ten plus years I've been shopping there.

    2. Never seen this either, and I've been shopping JC regularly since 2003-04.

    3. 75% off sale must be a first. It's great for customers and slashes inventory so they can start fresh w upcoming roll outs, but it does show a devaluation of the J Crew brand. Remember when you would wear some gorgeous new outfit and people would ask where it's from and say how much they love J Crew? Now when that happens to me, I'm asked how much off I got it for.

    4. Cousy, during they 5 day sale, I did say exactly that - put it on additional 75% off, clear the house and start anew; I never suspected it might actually happen!
Well, their 2Q ends in the end of the July, so they might be "very motivated" to bust numbers.. Or, they are trying to create more traffic, and positive buzz (though sales that steep are rather questionable). Or, there is a deep house cleaning - a box of striped tips from past seasons found somewhere would suggest that....That possible deep house cleaning reason worries me a bit - it's like a house cleaning for the house viewing...

  10. I snagged the long classic merino cardigans (4) for like 15 a piece. Was also able to get some price adjustments on items I'd just priced the night before. Agree this is one of the better sales. Also snagged the geo brush stroke skirt for 88 and moss green Ceces for 75. Yay!

  11. I'm 5-2 and the Tilly was perfect for me. Got them for $17 each on that day when things were 50% off sale price and not final sale. Tippis are too long and bag out on me, so I'm sad they are not coming back. I really like the warm sepia and parsley colors of the new Tippi.

  13. I noticed that many if not all items under the 75% off sale were not marked final sale. I called a rep to confirm this too. I placed a huge order and none of the items I ordered were final sale, which is great because there were a lot of things I wanted to try out, especially at those price points!

    1. Somebody must've flipped a switch over there because when I was up this morning at about 5 EST, everything I clicked on in the 75% sale section was final sale... and now, it is not. They must really want to clear it out!

I do agree that they should move some of the Fall 2014 leftovers into that 75% section and maybe they will over the weekend. Who knows with JC?

      Delete
    2. I was happy to not see final sale on my order as well ... I probably would have ordered more had I known. I purchased one swim bottom in two sizes and was just going to lose the $8 on the extra one!

  14. I placed an order at 5:00 am. I was only a few sips into my coffee, but that's when I seem to do most of my shopping ;)
I feel kind of dumb for paying $77 for the navy seersucker skirt and $50 for the purple one now that they are $15...
Everything in my cart said final sale, but none of those items are final sale now. I sent an email to see if that could be changed on my order just in case I don't love it all. They might say no but it was worth a shot!
I got a Cashmere Getaway Hoodie in Midnight and a back up for my gray one - $35 each; Cashmere Short Sleeve Tee in gray for $25 (never tried it before but sized up one), Tippi Cardigans in Midnight and Heather Acorn - $15 each (I have a gray one). I also got a size bigger in the navy seersucker skirt in case my current one is too tight next summer (it was only $15...)
I hope everyone else got some great deals!

    1. Went into the store and overheard the manager tell the SA NOT to give customers the 75% off sale items when they ask. This store is notorious for having horrible customer service. The only thing going for them is their huge selections.

    2. I wonder why ? do they not always honor on line prices ? I would report this one to Mickey himself..

  17. So here is what I got at 75% off...two scarves (one was only $6.00), a pair of the lookout high rise jean in sharky wash and a pair of Amalia jeweled sandals in olive moss. The jeans and sandals got sold out online before I could get checked out so I found the jeans at my local store and the sandals are coming from the Madison Ave store in NY, they both honored the online price. Shouldn't tell this but if you can get a store to do a search and see who has it, you can call and get it before they fill the orders that other people have placed because they probably haven't had a chance to pull the stuff yet. Makes sense? The stuff they are shipping from stores to fill orders is out on the floor so give it a try. I am two for two. When I was at my local store today at lunch, one of the associates was just pulling stuff for orders I am sure were placed way earlier today, so there is a small window I think to still find some of those things like I did although it is probably knocking someone else out of the item. Sort of feel bad...If the items are only at the warehouse, then you are out of luck with that strategy.

    1. kind of sneaky....but all is fair in 75% off sale I guess. After another PA denial ( I am 4 for 4 now ) I am not even going to look at sale until this is over.

    2. I was lucky with NYC stores too. 2 items from my last week order were shipped yesterday ( I didn't mind hem being cancelled). The only silly thing is that I...live in NYC. Such a waste of money - they knew where they ship. Why not picking up a phone and leaving me a message, or emailing me that they found the items, and I can either pick it up, or have it shipped? I would have picked it up, now I hope I get it by tomorrow.

      Delete
    3. Unknown, I'm sorry you are getting your pa requests denied. Is it past the seven day window? Or are you just getting the wrong person on the phone? Did you try emailing them? That always seems to work best for me. I bought a few things yesterday with the free shipping and today a couple of those things were in the 75% off section (which brought my order total down to half of what it was). I emailed early this morning and there already adjusted it.

  18. So how many we wish we had enough emails will we all get? I am happy I was able to grab a lot of basics that I know will fit for a great price. I took a few gambles but at the prices I am ok with it. Just hoping almost everything ships. It seemed things were moving really fast and the site was slow and overloaded. Nothing I had to have so I won't be overly sad if some things don't ship.

There is a discount: "Visit us today through 8/1 and get 20% off your purchase of $125 or more"

And another article more about fashion industry in general:

    1. Anon - great articles, thanks.

I agree with the business analyst quoted in the Fortune piece that J Crew shouldn't plan their business model around their discount stores (Mercantile and Factory). I have always preferred the main store (without the wackiness of the last couple of years) Interesting mention of Primark, which will be opening in Boston this fall. I had never heard of them, but a friend described as the UK version of H&M.

I still think that J Crew should reduce their mall presence - malls are increasingly havens of the lowest price discounters (Forever 21 etc). J Crew should be on city streets, just as they are in Manhattan.

  21. Up late grading & scored a few wins; bought cashmere tee in 3 colors for $25. Couldn't beat that price. Also, picked up endless shirt, linen cargo skirt in 2 colors & Bantu bikini top. These basics, along with the sale tippis I purchased, will get a lot of wear.

  24. Woke up earlier than I wanted to but before rolling over and going back to sleep I did a quick scan of the sale section. Found some Bowery slim pants in a brushed herringbone cotton in what appears to be a dark navy, item 03165. Reviews on the site say they are a heavier weight cotton so obviously these are from last fall/winter which will be perfect for me.

The price was the real bonus here are they came to $29; down from $88. I really like the Bowery slim cut, only trouble is they are four inches too long but a quick trip to the tailor and they'll be cuffed and the perfect length.

  25. Crazy pop backs this morning. Over 3000 items in women's sale -- I don't think I have ever seen that. Picked up some old jewelry items that I had missed out on back when, and a couple of d'Orsay flats, cutler and gross sunglasses (have never seen on sale!) and a backup pair of the metallic mackenzie crackled foil sandals (TTS, I love these!).

  26. I checked the web around 9.30am, and there was a huge update to about 3250 (525 final, but nothing new). There must have been even more items earlier on. That is a nice summer house cleaning! I sure did place an order. Nothing was final.

  27. I tried on the Sunday Slim Chino. The SA said they are "oversized for that boyfriend look".....really? I couldn't even get into size 8 (my usual J. Crew capri size), and size 10 still didn't fit like a boyfriend fit. Beware....you may have to size up. I hated these pants. They were really tight in the ankle and leg andwere very short waisted on me. Nothing "Sunday comfy" about these pants!"

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. oh no, I was worried those pants would be a flop. I hate things too tight in the ankle. JC used to do chinos so well, now they can NOT figure out a flattering fit/shape!

      Delete
    2. Those don't sound like the same pants I tried. They were definitely not tight in the ankle, they were straight, and when I rolled them they were not tight at the ankle/bottom then either. The reviews on these are all over the place.

      Delete
    3. Sorry....I meant they were just tight through the leg. The ankles were the ONLY place that fit me....lol! I definitely would have to go up several sizes to have them fit and be comfortable. They were just a weird shape/cut for me.

  28. Pop backs this morning were insane. Got the metallic midi skirt for 30 and the ribbon striped dress for 77. No final sale either! Yesterday got four Tilly crew necks and two tippi cardis. I went down a size in the tippi Cardi...hope the sleeves won't make my arms look like sausages! No final sale on anything so I got the dress in two sizes...will keep the one that fits.

  29. Can anyone speak to the A-line skirt in bi stretch cotton? The reviews say the slit is terrible and inappropriate for work but I'm about to fall over with glee that I found something nice in my size still in stock and am hesitating to pull the trigger because of the slit.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I had one I returned earlier in the spring. The fabric is nice but the slit is 8 inches. I suggest trying on one of your skirts and measuring an opening that size to see if you can live with it. It was too revealing for me to be comfortable sitting at work.

      Delete
    2. I didn't find the slit that high but maybe I am not remembering when I tried it on a month or so ago.

      Delete
    3. I bought it in white and sized up one size so it would sit a bit lower on my waist. The slit is high, but I really do like the skirt. The fabric feels nice and is pretty substantial. If you work in a conservative office, I don't think you'd feel comfortable in it, but if not, just make sure you pay attention when you sit down so you're not flashing people.

  31. They restocked the 75% off so I grabbed a few t-shirts, a scarf, a sun shirt, and a dress, the most expensive item being the dress which was $20!! No final sale, so whatever doesn't work will go back!

    3. Jruby, if you are referring to the green-ish collection leather jacket with the rose zipper, down to $70 from $495? I would not want it for free! Those 1 star reviews were so correct. It was restocked today, had two chances to get for 70, and passed (had tried weeks ago so know the horrendous fit.

    4. Oh, really? Well, it's returnable thankfully, so if it's awful, back it goes

  35. Just wanted to say that JCrew's customer service Rocks!!! I placed like five separate orders yesterday ( a strategy that must be employed to keep things from selling out). I emailed customer service and now all my orders are shipping for free!! Yay!

  36. Restocks are in - run, don't walk!!! But yes, everything is final sale again. I grabbed the seersucker pencil skirt that I missed yesterday and the drapey sweatshirt (B9972) that I had seen awhile ago when specifically looking for a navy sweatshirt and forgot to purchase. Guess I'm glad I didn't now! Most of the other good stuff still OOS, but the skirt was yesterday, so I guess check everything.

  37. I had such bad luck with shapes and cuts this year and returned so much I just can't justify buying final sale items. All I picked up on sale was the V-neck cardigan sweater in Ember.....I already own 4 of them (and love them!) that I knew it would be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I haven't bought much in JCrew this year but stocked up during this sale, I've lost weight, about 2-3 sizes and my previous wardrobe has mostly been sold/consigned so I figured this was as good a time as any to get some things. I've placed several orders over the weekend, 3 cashmere sweaters for under $30, the leather jacket, several skirts, a beaded tee, the perforated dress in cognac which looks like a great transition piece for early fall and the laser cut dress in the beige color, some scarves and the Sperry espadrilles. I tried not to get too blinded by the sales prices but these were all very wearable and mostly transitional pieces into fall. I think I'm finished though unless some of the cashmere pops back. I had 5 cashmere tees in my cart yesterday and by the time I checked out I only had one, very frustrating. Now I just get to see what actually ships!

Striped linen tank top in IVORY GREY BLACK $5
Crossover wrap skirt in DEEP VIOLET $17.50
Stitched-down pleated mini skirt in WILDFLOWER PINK $10

What a steal for all of them! The wrap skirt was more heavier than I imagine but good piece for the fall and winter. Now we have to wish Jcrew do extra 75% clearance once a year!
