J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but I can't tell if the J.Crew Collection (click here) did.

The MAY catalog (click here to view) is still up. However, the latest JUNE/JULY/AUGUST catalog is not. I have a feeling that J.Crew has given up maintaining this feature and focusing on posting images of the newest catalog over at Pinterest (click here to view).

I am excited about these new arrivals because it starts the transition to my favorite clothing season: Fall! I am actually super excited about this rollout. There are so many pieces to love this time around!!! My top picks include:

The Vintage Scarf Dress (item C9329; $188.00) is simply gorgeous. Love the print and the cut of this dress. Can't wait to get it!

Another dress I am crushing on is the Textured Eyelet Jacquard Dress (item C9228; $158.00). This is the kind of timeless piece that can transition from season to season. Yes please!

The Excursion quilted down vest (item B0109; $120.00) is back in an array of colors that will work well in anyone's closet. Can you believe some colors are already on backorder, crazy!?!

I am in love with the Military trench (item C9128; $325.00). This is such a beautiful item. If only the price tag was not so dang high. My precious...

Promotion Time! J.Crew is reminding customers that they are offering J.Crew 40% off final sale with promo code SHOPSALE. This offer expires July 23, 2015.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. looked through all the new arrivals in womens. Very underwhelmed. The stuff is not ugly, just nothing special. Will wait for it to get to the clearance rack and then I will pick up some stuff :)

  2. The only items that made it to my wish list are the Elsie in the Navy suede and the Campbell blazer in corduroy in the caramel and the grey colors. I'll wait on both because they are decidedly fall items that I won't wear for another two months. The scarf print dress is gorgeous, but I don't have a need for it.

  3. I noticed a small version of the pop flower necklace in their Pinterest stuff over the weekend but it doesn't seem to be online yet.

  4. i pre-ordered the scarf print dress yesterday (my VPS actually had it in the store)... i have no *need* for it, but when i saw it i gasped and i just felt like i'd like it so much, i'd find a reason to wear it

  5. Yayyyyy I LOVE the tippi polka dot sweater with shoulder buttons, the colorblock sheath dress (interesting sleeves) or just the simple sweet guava color, the faux wrap trench in lilac, the sunday chinos, the crimson maple eyelet (whyyyyyyyy poly????), the marble print pencil skirt, the shadow leaves a-line, the gemma flats, the glitter dulci and all the fall colors suede pumps!!

I've also noticed some ruffles back...

    1. About the eyelet skirt - is it poly because it is that heavy spongy material, almost like neoprene? Do you know what I mean? This is the first time in a while that I have liked a style enough to buy it not on super sale, but I agree that I need to see the fabric IRL.

      Delete
    2. Yea, the eyelet skirt is pretty but was turned off by poly. That will be a major static cling for me with the lining.

      Delete
    3. @cousy, I have not seen it in person yet, planning to make a stop tomorrow at my B&M store. However, I think it may be the same poly as the eyelet dress from last rollout. Just a note, the eyelet skirt (that came in a soft/blush pink, white and dark navy) was cotton with poly and did not feel too bad on skin. But I do not like full poly items and feeling sad because the red color looks gorgeous!

    1. I saw one at my store today. The associates just thought they had been shipped some old merchandise. When I informed that it is back online they said "Oh". Mine is still in my drawer at home from what, 2 years ago.

  7. Is it just me, or does the fit of the new Tippi sweater look different! Maybe it's just the way the model is wearing it (as well as the size). Sleeves are different -- bracelet-length instead of 3/4. I am going to lose my ever-loving mind if they messed with this staple.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It definitely looks different if you at the sleeves on the ones in the sale section and the sleeves on ones in the new arrivals. If the sleeves are the only change, I'm okay with it. I never minded the 3/4 sleeves, because I liked to layer with a printed button up and I love the way you can pull colors from J. Crew prints and match them to so many Tippis. But, it'll also be nice to have a longer length sleeve option. I have so many old ones, that I don't really need any new colors of the 3/4 sleeve ones.

      Delete
    2. I'm pretty excited about the longer sleeve length on the Tippi. I've been craving a long-sleeved Tippi for awhile, so I'll take a bracelet length! The 3/4 sleeves just don't get the job done during a Midwest winter.

Now to figure out which colors I "need."

      Delete
    3. Oh yes -- the sleeves aren't really a big deal. I'm just wondering if the sleeve length changed, what else did? Hopefully nothing...

      Delete
  8. If that wrap super 120s dress had a sleeve, I'd be all over it like a duck on a June bug. I'm loving the shape of the Colette kitten heels. I don't need suede though. Wish they'd made them in smooth leather.

  9. I love the Marble Print Pencil skirt. So disappointed that yet another beautiful pencil is not offered in Petite! Same with the Perforated Eyelet and Pleated Triple Stripe Midi skirts. So pretty and so disappointed, no Petites.

Lots of great looking shirts: Boy shirts in bold and skinny stripe, pacey plaid. Curious about the fit of the Short Sleeve Cropped Popovers.

Sunday Slim Chinos look promising. Great colors.

Mixed Stone bracelet is pretty, but not sure about the painted enamel.

  10. Looks like them messed with my beloved Classic Merino Wool Long Cardigan. These have been a staple in my wardrobe for years (going back to the Eden Cardigan). The "new" version looks boxier, shorter, and with side slits! Ugh!

    ReplyDelete

    1. The Eden cardigan is my all-time favorite. The long merino cardigan is a bit too long on me. Wish they'd bring the Eden back; it was perfect!

  11. Thank goodness they finally offered the Broken-in Chino in Petite!!!

There are some things I like: the Gemma flats, the pink velvet strappy sandal-I won't buy it, I just think it looks cute, Colete pump, deck stripe tee, chambray shirt dress, the eyelet cutout skirt-too bad it's poly, that will cause major static cling with the lining, I'm intrigued about the flutter mini skirt in light thistle-The cut is interesting and how it was styled in the catalog, it would look nice with a grey V neck cashmere sweater.

I ordered last night using the GOSHOPPING promo, and it worked on the new arrivals!! The Broken-in chino, deck stripe tee in both XS and XXS to compare, the chambray dress in petite to see how its like in person.

I'm surprised they didn't have the No.2 wool pencils, then I figured maybe they'll release it in september.

  17. I admit I broke my sale-only rule and ordered both dotted tippis with the 30% off last night. Hoping the sleeves are the only change on the Tippis...if they are, good on you, J Crew!

  20. It looks like this roll-out is a lot more classic and less "out there" than previous ones, which I like. I have my eye on the sunday slim chino, textured eyelet jacquard dress, and the excursion vest, which finally comes in XXXS.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I felt an optimism in the store yesterday, like, I didn't love everything but there are signs that the company is listening. I'm tired of the "fast fashion" approach and I was glad to see the return of some styles that will last more than one wear or at most one season... Tippis and Jackies in cotton and wool and lovely colors, matchsticks, merino cardis, wearable shoes ... not bowled over w excitement but I see a lot that would be worthy additions to my closet.

Now if they would just STOP w the dreadful Regent and give us some more flattering and well-made jacket options.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Ha, I see the opinions about Regent, divided. I personally like it, and hope they continue offering it, along with more styles. ( I personally dislike schoolboy - it is too short and boxy - even in tall)
But, yes ruffles, it reminds me jcrew of years ago - more classisc, merch I see wearing for many seasons (quality permitting, that is).
Very much looking forward to fall/winter rollouts.

      Delete
    2. No disrespect to the Regent lovers out there! Just wishing for more variety and a style that is more flattering to my shape in a jacket.

      Delete
    3. ITA ruffles about the jacket selection. That's an area of my wardrobe that gets serious $. Even though I think the Regent is fine (don't own one though), I wish there was more selection. The jacket offerings of the last few years have been as anon says, too short and boxy.

      Delete
    4. Speaking of jackets, I did get the Downtown Field Jacket in Burgundy. I think it's gorgeous and it's as well made as my originals in navy and olive

      Delete
    5. Ruffles, I have several friends who share your view about regent, they also dislike other styles and make a pass on all jcrew jackets altogether, so clearly more styles are needed.

  22. I see the "vintage tees" are now offered in petite. Can anyone tell me if I should size up for the petite? I've been wearing the regular "xs", which fit, but would like a shorter tee.

    1. You have to size one size up in petite. HTH

    2. I ordered last night the white vintage in size PS. I usually wear a regular XS, but went up a size on the petite.

  23. I see that the new matchstick jeans have a 1/2" higher "rise" than the last round of matchsticks. Also, - they are offered in petite

  24. I tried a lot of items today:

-drapey scoopneck top: i had to size down to a 00. I tried the pesto,it is a nice olive green.

-merino wool vneck tunic: i tried my regular xs and it fits nicely. I have tried the xxs to see if i could size down, i think it would be great to wear with pixies and skinny jeans.

-sloan d'orsay flats: Major love for those, they are TTS and i am def getting the carbernet.

-drapey chambray shirtdress: the xxs was too small and the xs too big, very strange sizing.

-sunburst mini in faux leather: this was my second love and i bought it. My regular 0 fit perfectly and since its a mini it fit my 5 2" just above the knee. The great thing about it is the pleats are not puffy and it fits similiar to last years lattice pleated skirt.
Pic on my IG @ inawonderland5

-washed Lame pull on:both the 0 and 00 fit strange on me,kind od tight at the top and wide at the legs.

-Soft lame shirt dress: the 0 fit nicely and it looked kind of cute.

    2. I have the Sunburst skirt in the midi version (I am almost 5'10). Have been wearing it far often than I thought. The pleads hold up very well too. 25. I went by my local store at lunch today and was not particularly thrilled. Can't recall anything I just had to have at all. When they go on sale, I am sure that will change. I am still in summer mode and actually just now wearing all the summer stuff I have gotten on sale. I did however score a Mar Y Sol Navy tote for $24.00. Sweet! I have been wanting one since last summer but never saw them go on sale until just this week.

    1. Where did you manage to find one?! I've done several we will find it searches after the recent sales with no luck!

      Delete
    2. Call a store and ask them to look in the inventory for you. They only showed 2 stores that might have one. The first store I called had it but it was on hold for another customer but the second store had it as well on display so it was mine. I don't even think they realized it had gone on sale so that is probably why it was still there. I don't think the we will find it even calls a store if the inventory only shows one so I think that is why you are not having any luck. I don't fool with that anymore. I have better luck on my own with the store looking it up and giving me the phone numbers for me to call myself. After all, if they only show one, one is all I need. Sometimes jewelry can be stuck back in a drawer or someone has returned the item. I have had really good luck with this approach. I once found a pair of shoes within 10 minutes of getting the "wish we had enough" email and had them shipped right to me. The Mar Y Sol tote is coming from a store in NY. I have found about everything I have looked for with the exception of a pair of earrings today. Darn!

  26. Hi! This is off tangent, but does anyone know what the double-serge skirt in tangy olive looks like? It's on sale, but there is no photo available. I called online, they tried researching for 30+ minutes to no avail. I have gone through some older fall and winter catalogs, with no luck. I am missing some catalogs so a stock photo could be in one of my missing catalogs. I have googled that item online and eBay with no luck, either. Thanks. It's the "tangy" part that throws me for a loop.

  27. Some cute things!

Downtown Field Jacket in deep burgundy. I don't wear this color much, but it is a really nice variation on the usual colors. TTS. I think I could layer a sweater under it even in my regular size.

Drapey Chambray Shirtdress. TTS. Very cute.

Sunday Slim Chinos. I tried 3 colors in the same size and 2 of the 3 were roomy; the other 1 was a closer fit. I don't know why they all didn't fit the same. These were TTS, but I didn't think they looked or felt too slim (which I liked).

Shirtdress in Soft Lame. This fit nicely and I liked it, but the lame was not for me personally. Very soft.

Vintage Scarf Dress: I didn't think I'd like this, but I loved it. The waist rides a bit high and I went with my larger size because of that. Most people will probably like their regular dress size. No pockets.

Deck Striped tee. Really soft and nice. It has dropped shoulders, but I forgive it.

Field Mechanic Jacket. I didn't try it on, but it looked very nice.

Cap Sleeve Marble Print Top. I liked the fit with the front button closed, but it didn't hang as nice with the button open. It's pretty and different.

Textured Eyelet Jacquard Dress. So pretty, and I love the design, very flattering skirt, but I need a smaller size on top than on bottom. I've had this problem all spring with J Crew's dresses. No pockets.

Tried on various tees but didn't love any.

    1. Thanks for all the reviews, cate. I'm curious to know what you thought of the colors for the Sunday Slim chino.

      Delete
    2. My store only had 3 colors: Baked Terracotta, Quarry Green, and Vintage Champagne. Baked Terracotta is a washed brick/orange color. Quarry Green is a washed army green (not quite as light as it looks online). Vintage Champagne is basically ivory. They didn't have the paint splattered ones or the tux striped ones. I liked the 3 colors the had. They definitely made me think of the Scout Chinos, but these are slightly thinner and softer and less stiff, with probably a slightly higher rise and more length for rolling.

I thought they were a great slouchy chino style, but if someone doesn't want slouch I'll bet they could try on a size down and that might give a more fitted look. I didn't think they were oversized, though.

      Delete
    3. Thanks, Cate. I really like my Scout Chinos, so these sound promising.

  28. I love the colours: the greens! I wrote a post about it this afternoon:
    http://frockphilosophy.blogspot.ca/2015/07/jcrew-green-and-new.html

Not sure about some of the fabrics but overall I see promise.
Looking forward to seeing what they come up with for the big September roll-out...

  29. I didn't see many of the new additions yesterday since I was in a very small collection store and they don't carry a lot of items. I did pick up a copy of the style guide though and my first impression is that many of the clothes look like what I actually wear. Hooray! I already ordered the boy shirt in bold stripe as that looks exactly my style. I also am trying the new denim skirt and the nutmeg field puffer when it comes in. My fingers are crossed!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. One other recommendation from me is that the style guide has a page with the lookout high rise jeans. I bought them last year, multiple pairs in fact, and they worked perfectly for me. Comfortable, slimming, good shape retention and best of all none of the muffin top I get with lower rise jeans.

  30. I was looking at the Collection pencil skirt here:
https://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/Collection/shortsskirts/PRDOVR~E1743/E1743.jsp and asked the J Crew chat person what the top was? She was trying to tell me it is the deck striped tee (e1143). I said, "no way", that has narrow sleeves and a dropped shoulder. I think it is the striped boatneck tee (item C7396) because the shoulder is not dropped and the sleeves look wider. She insisted that her "design team" knew what they were talking about, but I disagreed. It's kind of sad when the staff can't look at the details of some of their garments and be able to see the obvious differences. That skirt is awesome, wish they had a size 4.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Lol, Vava, great eye. I too, would guess C7396 - no dropped shoulders; I guess she wears a size or two up to give more loose body and wider sleeves, though.
The other option - she wears some early version of either tee that looks slightly different once manufactured. Just like....the maxi linen dress (c7322) that says in black is only partially lined, but in fact has a full lining. Or the leather jacket (b9872) where the drawstrings are on the outside on the model, but the manufactured version has on the inside (and the do mention it in the description).

      Delete
    2. Btw, that leather jacket is a complete disaster, no wonder it doesn't sell.

  31. is the skirt sold out in a 4 or did they not make it in a 4? Looks gorgeous!

  32. Ran into my local store yesterday. While there were some new arrivals, there wasn't much, or much that caught my eye.

I tried on the Deck Stripe Tee and like others have said it has the drop shoulders and is very soft. It also runs very wide. I usually wear a small and tried on an XS and it was still wide. Would look cute with skinny jeans though. I also wish it had a more reinforced neckline. The neckline feels unfinished. I am undecided on this. Definitely won't pick it up without a promo.

I also tried on the Women's Field Mechanic Jacket. I am on the fence about this as well but leaning more towards getting it. I tried the Small as they didn't have an XS in the store. The pockets in front and the collar are a bit bulky. This definitely isn't a polished type of jacket. But it is one that would look equally as awesome over jeans and a tee with boots or booties or with a dress to give it that uptown meets downtown feel. I really loved the color green and that's saying a lot for me as I usually don't own any green. Once again, I would also get this with a promo as opposed to full price because it's a $178 jacket that lacks a lining, and it is neither wind or water resistant. Very cute though.

I didn't see much else. I did love the color of the new Tippi's. Will be picking up a few of those in the future.

What I feel this rollout is missing is more button-down shirts. The few that they are offering are lightweight and summery with the same description for the colors as well. Ready for some fall-toned plaid button-downs with a bit more substance to them.

  33. I wandered through Bergdorf's and Barney's to look over new fall stuff which I'll never be able to buy - just checkin, yeah? - and discovered that long long coats are back. That's long as in mid-calf to ankle or even shoe-top. Well. As one who suffers terribly from below-freezing winter temps, I'm glad to see this. However it means that I'll definitely be returning that preordered JC military trench.

  34. Hi JCAs. Review of the ruffle sheath in Super 120s in this post.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The things that I was drawn to are things that I already have. The Always chambray shirt looks just like the chambray pocket shirt (c1159). The deck stripe tee looks to be the same fabric as the oversize stripe tee (b5902) from earlier in the year (be careful when washing this one, it gets wider). I understand that they’re probably keeping things low-key while they figure out what they want to do next given the shake-ups but they’re misleading customers if they’re using familiar names on different designs. A Jackie in wool is not a Jackie. A Tippi with bracelet sleeves is not a Tippi. I think that those Matchsticks may just be Reids that are being called Matchsticks. I'm cautiously optimistic, but giving JC a little side-eye at the same time. ; )

On another note, look at the jeans the model is wearing in the long-sleeve painter tee pics. Eeeeeeek!
