Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I've shared several J.Crew-like items again this week on my blog. See them here. Included this week are alternatives for The downtown field jacket, Collection cashmere popcorn sweater, and Classic pavé link bracelet, just to name a few. :)

  2. I admit I've been obsessing about finding leather leggings for a couple years now. I wanted real leather ones, but haven't wanted to pay the exorbitant prices for real leather. I found a fabulous pair at H&M for $299 (NOT the Isabel Marant ones). They fit amazing (although run very small), feel like butter and look fantastic. Bonus for me: I had a 25% code from them b/c they had messed up a previous order. I have been scouring the internet for 2 years and these are by far the best price I've seen for leather leggings. I know stock was running low, but if you'e looking for leather leggings, check them out!

  3. Hey, all. Last Saturday Boden started their end of season sale/clearance. :)

I wrote more about it here.

I have plans to write up a picks post, but won't likely get to it until later tonight. When I finish that, I will link to that post too.

They had an update this morning, some items have sizes/colors that have popped back that weren't there before, so if you had been seeking something and it was sold out, it is possible it is back in stock. :)

    1. Love the Smart Shift (black floral) from Boden. It's so nice to order a dress sight-unseen and have it fit. I've ordered a couple of dresses from Boden this year and the sizing has been consistent. The fabric on this one is very nice, too. Sleeves are a bit wide/puffy but I think I can fix that. I can wear it as-is, but I think it would look better if I took in the sleeve poof a bit.
Can't say I liked the Off Duty Sweatshirt that much, though. It was oversized as expected but the shape looked terrible on me. The neck was very wide and the shoulders were very dropped. Sizing down wouldn't have made a difference. It's too bad because I liked the length and the idea of it. It looked like a sack on me.

    2. Ooh, thanks for recommending the smart shift. I think your review is helpful to so many Boden fans. :) Definitely will be using both of these reviews in my next BWRR and will be adding the smart shift to my picks post...whenever I can get that done, of course!

I loved that sweatshirt but I wonder if they changed the style up from last spring, which is when I purchased mine. Hmm.

    2. That is super old school, from 2004 or 2005. If I grab a chance I will see if I can figure it out, but that coat is gorgeous! Grab it if you love it!

    3. Agreed - looks like a double-cloth from '05 or so. They did a couple of coats with that off-center button. You could always ask the seller for a season/year off the interior tag (it's usually on the tag down by the hem, not the one at the collar).

    4. Thanks so much for your help everyone! I'll go ahead and ask the seller for about the tag details.
