Extended! 30% Off Full Price & 40% Off Sale Items

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know about the following news this morning.

J.Crew is extending their offer to take an additional 30% off full price and 40% off sale items with code GIFTNOW. This offer expires today, December 26, 2013.

I have definitely purchased my fair share online during this promotion in the last week. Why? Because I just know that the dreaded "Final Sale" is lurking in the shadows. I need to buy now and keep what works, and more importantly, return what does not.

Which leads me to my next question, what do you think the next promotion will look like? Will it be another "an additional x% off final sale?" That is what I am leaning towards. But you never know for sure with our beloved J.Crew! ;)

Will you be taking advantage of this latest promotion? What are your thoughts on this sale? Do you know when "Final Sale" will be back? What are the in-store promotions looking like?

  1. 50% off final sale in stores and online dec. 26-31, Canada only. I would rather have the 30/40% and no final sale.

  2. I've gotten a few things as well only because they are also not final sale. I picked up the Tricolore Edie another JCA was kind enough to mention, it's not showing up for sale on the website but if you search for Edie it does. It comes out to being $59.99 after the 40%. I also picked up the knit sweatshirt dress, Collection Iced Lilac Capri pants, Collection antiqued floral top, pear bracelet, and the Collection marigold skirt. Once final sale comes back I will probably buy very little online.

  3. I think they're going to take a break from full-price or across-the-board promotions for a while. They'll roll out new merchandise at full-price, switch to final sale in sale, and offer 30-40% off their final sale. Then they'll do the occasional category promo, like on swimsuits or sweaters or whatever they want to move. I have no info, this is just my guess.

  4. I see giftnow still works, but wonder if it would still be FS in Canada?

Anyone see the Tabitha simmons flat sandals - am contemplating them for my upcoming trip to florida but wondering how they fit..

  5. Braved the crowds this am and grabbed a number of items in store for 50% off md price (Canadian store), including the military parka for $259.99 before the half off. Also got the double side zip sweater for $76.99, star bracelet for $39.99, tippi sweater for $59.99 and a plain tee for $14.99 before the additional 50% off. Best prices were on coats and sweaters!

  6. Dreading final sale myself, I went ahead and ordered the Slip-on oxfords- in a half size larger than my non-Crew size. I worry though that for these shoes, might actually need my regular size! Does anyone have any advice or guidance they could share? Now that the sale has been extended, I still have a chance to order the smaller size and take one pair back. Just wondering if anyone has any personal fit experience with this shoe? I always have to go up in ballet flats, so am torn! Thanks in advance for any help!!!

    1. I tried them on and thought they ran large, but my feet are quite narrow.

    2. Fred : ), thank you! Your note was just what I needed- went ahead and ordered the smaller size as well : )

  7. I didn't buy anything, but when I was shopping today I was told that they would honor the educator discount.

  8. I went to my store this morning, but didnt buy anything. They had still all size in the owl print, the blackwatch plaid shirt and the bow sweatshirt.
Also lots of shoes and boots available.
They also had a lot of jewelry available!

  9. Went to retail store this am, and was told all sale items ending in ".99" were final sale. Also, no 30% of full price merchandise in store. So I guess final sale is really close! Got the gray Merci tee for 11.99 after 40% off, along with 2 silk skirts. Well stocked--this was westport, CT store.

  10. My latest order came with a reprimand card! I ordered the Collection Darby Studded Loafers in gray, and inside the shoe box on top of the shoes was a card that says:

When it comes to shoes, nothing looks as good as "Made in Italy" feels. But if you aren't sure you're completely in love with this particular pair, please don't wear it. Once you do, the shoes can no longer be returned.

Really? I had no idea lol.

The other side of the card just says: J. Crew, Made in Italy

That is hilarious considering the used merchandise that I (and probably many of you) have received from them when I've ordered online. And it's kind of insulting considering I would never wear shoes and then try to return them.

And finally, on the bottom of one of the shoes are some scratches as if someone wore them around a bit lol. Okay J. Crew thanks for the holiday reprimand!

    1. Wow, who decided to implement that? Sounds very condescending. Why don't they just attach a tag that once removed can't be returned and wording it politely??

    2. This kind of warning is pretty standard, a lot of companies like Net-a-porter etc. include a note about not wearing the shoes even if they also advise to try them on a carpeted surface as wood floors can mark the sole.

    3. I have never seen this before from J. Crew or anywhere else, but then again I don't usually order higher end shoes. There wasn't anything about where to try them on, just don't wear them and then return them.

  11. I'm scratching my head a bit. The few things on my wish list show up as final sale when I click on them. It looks like a decent amount of the sale is final sale. So no purchasing for me, even with this discount.

    1. Some things were showing up as final sale right before Christmas, too. I'm not ordering final sale either.

  12. I'm dying for the Military Parka, either color, in a size large on sale (I don't want to spend $275 on a parka right now). Has anyone seen one in store? TIA!

    1. The military parka is marked down to 229.99 with an additional 40 percent for a sale price of 137.99. There were quite a few in navy at the bay shore mail store in Milwaukee

    2. Is the price for the military parka the same as store vs. online?

  13. 40% off (but final sale) in my store. Same exact items and prices as before-Christmas. Totally picked over and not worth it.

  15. I'm not planning to go to my store, as there wasn't much stock left a couple days ago already.

In case anyone's thinking about it, I received the leather-front top in ivory, and surprisingly, I really love it. It looks quite chic and is very comfortable. I think the ivory makes it special and interesting. It can be dressed up, but I just plan to wear it with jeans out to dinners for the most part. I went with my normal size small.

  17. I stopped by a store today (not one of my regular stores as I am traveling) and the sale section was pretty meager. It made me appreciate the sales sections in my regular stores in and near Chicago! I did find the gold stripe mini for 79.99 plus 40% off, one of the few items I had on my wish list. I sized up one size to get more length. I am still thinking about having the hem taken down.

  18. My store today had stacks of the January Style Guide out. Sale was 40% off and FS. Nothing new or exciting in Sale, pretty picked over. The rest of the store looked quite bare so new arrivals must be on the way! Good because I'm ready for some new merch.

  19. I was wondering if any of you had any tips on how to score the green Majesty pea coat on popback on jcrew.com or the factory site? I didn't notice it at first, but I am now obsessed with finding one. I check the website every morning at 6am EST. Do popbacks get added at any other time? Also, does factory get popbacks too and do they happen at the same time? Any help would be appreciated. I am a size 10 or 10p in retail or 8 in factory coats generally. Thanks so much!

    1. Suja I have been finding that the J Crew website has been updating pretty early. I don't know the exact time but there have been times when I've checked @ 4 or 4:30 central and it's been updated already. It only updates once a day with additional inventory. I think the Factory website typically updates at the same time because I often check the Factory site after the retail site and it's always updated.
If you have the style number and call a store they should be able to look it up and tell if you any stores in the country may have one and you can call and do a charge send. Good luck!

  20. Most of the same on sale today at my store, but the bow and tartan shirts hit sale now. 40% off sale items, but I don't think it was final sale...at least no one told me that when I was at the register. Only picked up the military pocket shirt, which I've been eyeing. It seems like a quality piece, especially for the price now ($39.99 in stores plus 40%). Can't wait to start putting outfits together with it.

Guess we will see new arrivals tomorrow...I'm so ready! I'm actually heading to the factory store tomorrow, which is rare for me. Maybe I'll have better luck there.

    1. I forgot to mention that the arrows sweater was marked down in my store. I thought it was cute (even though I tried on a size larger), but it was just a tad too itchy for me. Maybe something in the blend didn't agree with me, but I'm sensitive to some materials. I believe it was marked down to $69.99 for anyone still looking.

    2. TXgirl14, how did you find the sizing runs in the military pocket shirt. I've heard some people say to size up and others say it is tts. Thanks!

    3. Lauren - I sized up one in the military pocket shirt, review here. I'm 5'2", 36C. I usually wear 6 and took an 8. I"m very happy w/the size 8. I believe Ema/My Closet, My Baby might have sized up one, too, and she's considerably thinner than I am. hth

    4. I took my normal size, but size up if you want to layer anything under. I don't plan to wear anything but maybe a thin cami under, if that. Gigi, your review on this is what made me seek out this shirt and pull the trigger...thank you! :)

    5. I bought the Military Pocket Shirt tonight :) Would have never tried it on, but I remembered Gigi and Ema had both had very positive reviews of it--I think it's much cuter on than hanging on the rack. FWIW, my store only had a 12, and that fit very well (I'm usually a 10, but sometimes size up for my bust). Unless you are on the very lower end of your size, I think you wouldn't go wrong sizing up-the shoulder seams were still great, and it was still flattering. HTH, and thanks to Gigi and Ema for always doing great reviews!

Oh-I also bought the Medallion Tie-Silk Skirt (called something else entirely on my receipt, but same item #). Super cute and flattering, and marked $49.99 pre-40% vs $99.99 pre-40% online.

Lastly, I overheard an SA tell another shopper that the 30% was over when she inquired about full-priced jewelry. After the SA walked away, I encouraged the lady to ask them to match the website 30% off reg price-and they did! I thought it was strange the SA didn't offer, since the website says 30% in-store and online. Overall, though, the holiday-hired SA's seemed to be on the ball at my store.

    6. Hello ladies, I love the military pocket shirt. I did NOT size up and I am still able to layer under it. This is actually a shirt that you can wear with a thick turtleneck under (think basic cashmere tneck). I got it in my regular size because I prefer it to the bigger size when not layering but if you plan to layer most of the times you can size one up. HTH!

    7. Thanks so much for all of your input! Gigi, I decided to size up based on your review! They are always so helpful!

  21. 50% off for Canadians and J.Crew pulls me back in like a black hole. Just after telling myself I'm good I don't need anything a couple of clips gets me a 1/2 zip in heathered grey merino wool and a deep blue ringer crewneck tee.

    Happy Boxing day!

  23. The Bellevue Square store was very picked over this afternoon.

The sale items were 40% off.

  24. Stopped by my B&M tonight to return some items and the SA informed me that they were getting in a large shipment of new items tomorrow so many of the existing items will go on sale this weekend.

  25. I went to a B&M in SF today to return a couple items.

The store did not have signs regarding 30% full price items. I figured maybe the % off only applies online.

An SA told me that there was a mix-up with corporate sending out an email for that 30% FP / 40% sale items. So I guess, yes the promo was extended, and probably the stores weren't suppose to put away the 30% signs??
Some resort/early spring items were out on the floor already. Shorts, swimsuits, cotton t's, sandals... It looks like silver shoes trend will be continued through spring season.

I didn't buy anything. The sale section was picked over, and I was not interested in any of the full priced items.

I am shopped out, and over with looking at the fall/winter merchandise (especially at those Moroccan inspired sweaters).
I am ready to see Spring merchandise.
An SA told me that the January Style Guide is literally only a few pages.

  26. The January Style Guide IS only a few pages and very disappointing. January catalogs have always been a bit of a yawn at J Crew, but man. Really boring same-old. One or two new prints that aren't too interesting to me, lots of repeats, silver shoes everywhere. Flats are ALL pointy toed. Meh colors. Two new bags that are nothing special. On the bright side, minimal jewel-encrusted tops and the prices seem to be holding or even slightly lower.

    1. This is the thinnest J. Crew catalog I have seen so far. I thought those low-heeled pointy slingbacks (Lucie Slingback) had potential, but then I saw they were expensive for what they were and the only solid color looked to be mirror metallic (silver). I want the side-zip varsity dress, though, that looks super cute and is probably too short. I'd like to see the Teddie Satchel, but I can't tell how big it is from the picture.

  27. Was visiting some family who live a very short stroll from J. Crew so I stopped by in spite of having no intention to do any Boxing Day shopping. It was a madhouse, with the front of the store (almost exclusively regular price items) looking fairly normal, and the the back (sale) section a war zone. I could see the remnants of some good deals, but most sizes in sweaters and blazers were out. I picked up the Pyramid Studded Ceces for $38, the Claremont Clutch for $54 and the Smartphone Cashmere Lined Leather gloves for $15 (I'm pretty sure this was a mistake - they were marked to $29.99 - the only pair I saw marked down, but rang up as $99 - the cashier was really surprised, but didn't make an issue of it).

  28. Also, I'm wondering if in-store outerwear traditionally gets deeply discounted at the end of season, and if so, what time of year that might happen. I noticed a TON of excursion vests, all colours and sizes, at regular price in store. I wouldn't mind picking another one (...or maybe 2!), but CDN retail at $140 doesn't seem worth it to me. Most of the wool outerwear had been sold out already, but many of the pieces that were still left (Cocoon, Majesty Peacoat) were still full price.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I got the red tartan popover ($36 after 40% sale) and stocked up on some super opaque tights which are also in sale in the store. I don't remember being told that any of these were final sale.
