Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Once upon a time....(cuz this turned out to be a novel)

The stores. Very interesting. One store had sale merchandise mixed in with regular, from front to back of the store. They also had a sale section, as expected. Another store I visited had all of the sale items in one sale area.

It's an addtl 30% off sale items in-store and they seemed very reluctatant to match the 40% off sale items GIFTNOW going online. Whereas in the past, it's usually no problem. When I got home I noticed the sale section says, "exclusively at jcrew.com." Perhaps they are trying to keep the 40% off restricted to online.

Jackie cardigans had a promo sign of $49.50. The tortoise hair accessories were...wait for it...oh you already know. (slaps knee). There are out-of-case bracelets on sale for $14.99. I think some were mismarked as sale that are regular price. Domed/rounded enamel bracelets in large widths are marked $14.99, $19.99 & $24.99 depending on which store you're in. I keep seeing forest green and orange in those.

The price differences are beginning to become more apparent. I.e. embroidered stripe peasant blouse $79.99 online vs $59.99 in-store. Military pocket shirt $49.99 online vs $39.99 in-store. I've updated the In-Store Price Guide. Look for the dates in red.

  2. I may stop by a factory store. It will likely be a zoo but my sizes are sold out on the online site.

Also looks like cardholders get an extra 25% off their in-store or online factory purchases. Online shoppers use the code CARDPERK.

  3. I visited retail yesterday. Early, before they got busy. Tippis that are $59.99 online were $49.99 in store. I picked up 2 pairs of matchstick jeans at great prices. Dark wash were $29.99 before discount and black were $39.99 before discount (or vice versa). Asked about 40% off in store and was told no - only 40% off online and 30% off everything in store, but the manager and a VPS got involved and said they would honor if someone asked. Happy Shopping :)!

  4. No more free shipping today.

I went yesterday and my store had 30% off everything, but would not match the 40%. I did better online in the morning before I went. Oddly, quite a few prices were higher in store, which is unusual. The place was mobbed w college girls in Hunter boots buying statement necklaces in the sale section. There was so much jewelry in sale ... lots of sparkly necklaces for $24.99 before 30%.

I'm expecting bigger price cuts after Christmas - there is just too much "holiday" stuff in the store right now and how much can they move in 5 days?

    2. I think that is so smart of them to sell the statement necklaces at that price point. Those young girls are being trained to shop at J. Crew for jewelry, well played J. Crew! They'll buy the more expensive ones eventually.

    3. How disappointing that the free shipping is gone! I wonder if it will come back before Christmas? - probably not.

    4. I noticed in store yesterday too that lots of prices were better online. wth! I drove an hour (one way) to my closest B&M so I could see some things in person and try some on...was not expecting the higher prices... and to not have the 40% off matched in store. boo.

  5. Cate, that's a great point about "training" customers to buy JC jewelry with a wider price range. Worked on me. Up until a couple years ago it seemed wasteful and stupid to me to spend $100-200+ on plastic pearls and fake stones in antiqued goldish metal that would only be wearable for a short time! I guess it still does, but I usually pick out one or two statement pieces per season and get them on sale - the "look" has really grown on me.

I know we've beaten this to death but if you haven't gotten a Pear Bracelet yet for $24.99 - 40% and you like sparkly stones, you won't be sorry :)

    3. I just bought one of those $24.99 (before discount) necklaces at my B&M. The color is called "Cool River" online. It's multicolored.

  6. I ordered the boy shirt in black watch earlier in the day yesterday, $79.50 and 40% off so $47. Then I ran into a store just to browse and saw the shirt in the sale section, $49.99. Along with the toothpick in Lewiston wash, $39.99. Asked about the 40% off, SA looked tired and confused, ended up giving me the discount or something that happened after she pressed a lot of buttons and my total was $37 for both!!? What?! Happy Holidays to me.

  9. I went to my store today the sale section was OK it wasn't huge like I have seen it in the past I bet it will be right after x-mas also not very many options in my size 00 or xxs. They didn't have any flannels marked down or full price the store at all they must've sold out. There were tons of tippis marked at 49.99 and 59.99 no fall/wintery colors though alot of cords marked between 29.99-69.99. There were also a ton of elbow patch sweaters marked 69.99 that clearly weren't selling. The jewelry markdown selection wasn't good and prices were still high. The full price section all seemed kind of slim like 1 of each size. I really LOVE the jeweled cluster sweater in lavender and plan on buying it as soon as it gets marked down. I ended up buying the peter pan collar dress in size 00 it was marked 79.99 and my sales associate gave me the 40% off online promotion when I asked I was the only person in line so I don't know if they are doing that for everyone the signs in the store say 30%.

    1. I was in store yesterday and heard someone ask if they could get the 40% off clearance that was being offered online, and she was told very firmly it was "ONLINE ONLY", so I was scared to ask after that! haha.

    2. Julie, I heard someone ask about the 40% off and the black watch shirt and she was told they would then price-correct it to $79.50 versus the $49.99 ticketed price... I was too scared to ask after that.

  10. Hello! If anyone sees a navy foulard popover in size 14 at their store, would you kindly send me an email with the location? ohjoymorelaundry at gmail.com
I've been calling a few stores trying to find some items, but I think the regular SA may be off today. One SA asked me what a wedge is and another one at a different store asked me what a popover is. Okie, dokie.

  12. We're getting snowed in here so I can't get out of town to a b&m. I did do a charge send for the Deep Ivy plaid flannel shirt after calling around and finding one. Thank you Gigi for the heads up about the in store price! I really wish I could get to a b&m for some of those prices.

I was also really excited that the merino fair isle sweater was marked down online as I bought it last week so I got a PA. I didn't notice it before until some JCAs sang its praises so I tried it and love it. It is soft and substantial, nice fitting as its not boxy. I want to try it with a black checkered shirt like audreybella did in her review. :)

  13. I went to my B&M on my lunch break and I couldn't believe how empty it was. Everything was neat and tidy and the sale section hadn't been ransacked yet. I bought a few necklaces and ceramic jewelry trays for gifts.

I also bought the marled colorblock sweater and sized down. The medium, my usual size, just hung on me while the small fit perfectly. I got it in blush dusk fig which is a gorgeous mauvey pink with gray. This was $10 cheaper in the store at 79.99 before the discount (89.99 online).

At the register, I found the earrings I had had in my wish list but sold out: the jeweled fan drop earrings. I love these and they were 49.99 before the discount (were 78.00 online.)

I have to mention that the SA that helped me was so nice and helpful. Honestly, it was the type of service you'd expect at a luxury boutique. He took his time and also used care when packaging all of these items. Very considerate and extremely well-mannered. I hope he's not just seasonal help!

  14. I just got back from my Factory. 50% off the store plus an extra 20%. Not final sale, but no educator's discount or other discounts applied. They had several retail items in the sale section - more than I've seen in a long time - including the Keeper Chambray in Star Dot in most sizes for 19.99 after discounts.

The shoes were one of the best deals in the store if you aren't opposed to Factory shoes construction which is not the best. Most were on sale to begin with before the double discount. I got a pair of the Factory version of the Mila Cap Toes for 27.99.

  15. Lots in the sale section of the Eaton Centre JC, for Canadian aficionadas this weekend. Loved the stretch flannel dress, the multi-zip sweater (fits big). Way too much stuff in the sale room to list here (an entire wall of shirts), though weirdly almost no jewellery at all. Picked up the Martie ankle boots and nearly got the Dean boots as well. Both fit TTS (to my real-world shoe size) and were beautiful and comfortable. Price lower instore than online but the extra 10% off makes it almost the same.

  17. I bought the chalk stripe schoolboy for dirt cheap. $79.99 + 30% off = $56. Even the SA was surprised. The sale section was pretty well stocked but not much new or different and limited sizes available.

  18. I went to the factory store today and they had 50% off plus an additional 25% on top with my J.Crew card. There were a ton of items brought from retail like the excursion vest in stripe and I got it for around $50 (it's still full price at retail), also some sweaters, schoolboy blazers, toothpick jeans, and Jackie cardigans. You can tell they're not factory items because there's no double diamonds on the tag. An associate told me they would continue to start bringing in items from retail to sell at factory ( maybe overstock?)

  19. Stopped by to do some returns and did pick up a Jackie and the Crinkle Boy Shirt in Blackwatch plaid, both were $27.99 after the 20% off sale and 30% off store wide discounts. If anyone is looking for the shirt, they had two large stacks on them not in the sale section. Be kind to the frazzled SAs, they had a flood in the mall and the store got water damage so it is looks like a construction zone. Park Meadows, CO 303-649-9620

  21. A bit of a vent... why are things coming up as Final Sale already on J. Crew and Madewell? I have things in my carts at both retailers but I am not going to buy them because of Final Sale. What is the point of Final Sale right before Christmas?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi cate - I'm sorry to say that JC's been doing this for the last few years - FS comes back as soon as the Christmas deadline to ship passes, which is usually the 24th (although I have a feeling it will be back tomorrow). It's a bummer - the first year they did this I had given my sister a JC gift card for Christmas and she was so excited to get online and shop Christmas day, only to find that everything was final sale. What kind of gift is that? I haven't given JC gift cards since then (I think this was 3 years ago).

      Delete
    2. I thought it would come after Christmas and that there would be a big banner on the web site to warn us. I'm glad I happened to notice it on the individual items I was considering. I agree that's a terrible gift to give someone, a gift card for clothing that they cannot return? I don't see what value Final Sale has for the company anyway. If people get stuck with stuff they can't return, it just pisses them off and reminds them not to shop Final Sale again. So J. Crew may make a buck from those situations, but what they have ended up with is a dissatisfied customer who is less likely to shop the brand in the future.

      Delete
    3. what items are you ordering ? Everything I have ordered was not final sale....It seems there probably are a few items that do come up as that. Why not phone CS and ask that they not be considered FS. it is XMAS after all !

  22. At Madewell, I was looking at the Linebreak Tankdress and the Diamond Jacquard Dress. At J. Crew, I was looking at the Schoolboy Blazer in English Tweed. I don't want to bother with Customer Service, it's not that important, but thank you :) Final Sale is just irritating, particularly when they sneak it in there for no apparent reason. Don't they know by now that making things Final Sale is stopping people from buying?

    ReplyDelete
  23. OT: For those interested, Madewell is also offering 30% Off sitewide with code TOYOU until 12.24.13. Shipping is free on all orders, too. There are a lot of new Promo-Priced items this week that are an even better deal with the extra 30% off. I've compiled the list of them here.

As I mentioned previously, there were a lot of new markdowns at J.Crew this week, as well as many new promo-priced items, too. You can see the list of the most recent markdowns & promo items here and the additional markdowns & promo items here .

  24. I've been really eyeing the flannels online at J.Crew that are usually around $90 which was a little too steep for me but now the Red Tartan and Black Watch Plaid are around my price range($50). My big question is, should I buy now before the 30% off all and 40% off sale ends or wait for a sale after christmas? Will there be a bigger sale after CHristmas sale or is this as good as it gets?

    4. hrometz - Impending final sale was a motivator for me to pick things I wouldn't be sure ordering if they were non-returnable.

There's no guessing what J Crew will do for post-Christmas promos. I expect they will definitely have one. My guess is for 30% off sale items, bu on final sale. And I'm also guessing no free shipping deals since they had some recently. I have no inside intel, btw.

    1. No, but I was wondering about it too.

      Delete
    2. I ordered it in the fuchsia color and returned it. The dress is tts and the split was not too deep, but it would be more modest for a more flat-chested person (which I am). However, I had issues with the fabric - the combination with the silk made it very stiff and you could tell it would wrinkle easily.

    4. Jan - I saw this dress on a woman IRL and it was too low for someone who is more than (I'm guessing) a B cup. She was spilling out of the dress and it was very unflattering.

I have a work dress from JC from a few seasons back that is similarly low cut and I have had to wear a camisole.
