  1. Not a vent. Chateau parka is 129 after biggersale discount. Too good of a price for me to resist!

  2. It’s very nice. Feels thinner then years before.... but I did try it in store. I have one from 2 years ago... it’s thicker... and I love it... but the faux fur on the hood and looking like a sheep.... not sure how to fix it... can’t find a replacement.... that’s what you get for faux fur... lol

    1. I thought the coat...last years anyway was too short. should have been a little longer. in my correct size...it still looked like a kids coat on me. it was always grossly over priced as the faux fur collar is cheap looking. sorry just my opinion.

    2. I was talking about item F8255 Nordic parka.

      https://www.jcrew.com/p/F8255?Nbrd=J&Nloc=en_US&Nrpp=48&Npge=1&Ntrm=nordic&isSaleItem=false&color_name=NAVY&isFromSearch=true&isNewSearch=true&hash=row0&srcCode=affiliate%7CBloggers%7CrewardStyle%7CAFFI0001&siteId=CJ_4441350_rewardStyle&utm_source=rewardStyle&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_content=Bloggers&utm_campaign=AFFI0001&cjevent=9666af4b19a611e983b500170a240612

It filled with down and Thinsulate....

But my hood after 2 seasons is disgusting...

      Any ideas are appreciated!!!

    3. @Kate - That's a beautiful coat! Since the fur is synthetic, I'd be tempted to hand wash the hood, or even machine wash it in a mesh lingerie bag, then hang it to dry. If you're not comfortable with that, you could always send it to the drycleaner.

Seeing Kate's heavy winter coat reminds me of the amazing fleece-lined down parkas I donated to SA when I moved south. I had two of them, royal blue and burgundy, and I absolutely loved them. They were so soft and warm and fluffy. I didn't want to give them up, but I knew I'd have no use for them in a warm climate, especially since their extreme fluffiness took up a lot of storage space. I hope someone in NY/NJ is enjoying their warm goodness this winter.

    4. Thanks supper helpful...I read a lot about carrying for fake fur such as using conditioner and washing in sink, dry clean etc .... just have not but the bullet

I am going to try as I don’t have much to loose....

It’s a great coat and is comparable to Canada goose in terms of warmth, I bought it on sale so it does not compare to the cost of the Canada goose jackets

This years parka has no down fill.... which is sad...
The hood only attached by snaps and no zipper....

I would replace mine if i felt it was as warm the my Nordic parka

    5. @Kate - ITA that the recent down offerings are a bit sad and flat. I think mine were from 2007-2009ish. There’s no way I could replace them now for a reasonable price.

  3. Dear J. Crew,

If you could please ship the orders I placed on 1/09, 1/10, 1/12, 1/13 and 1/15, that would be wonderful. Also, if they could arrive less than one week after shipping, that would be really great!

    1. this. I long for the days when I placed orders on Monday and had in hand by Thursday or Friday with regular shipping. leave on vacation 1/24 and at this rate everything is going to be piled up on my porch.

My one order that shipped quickly is still finding it's way to me. It left Lynchburg on the 10th - routed through NJ, Syracuse, NY and then made it to Buffalo (where I live) on the 12th. It then LEFT Buffalo and went to TWO cities in Maryland before going to Harrisburg, PA and then BACK to Syracuse and it's back in Buffalo today and is showing delivery today. What. the. heck. I typically have not had issues with UPS innovations - my UPS almost always delivers these since they're usually in the area but that's ridiculous. I can see another order shipped but not sure which one...I was hoping to swing by the store this weekend for potential returns and to try and use my birthday coupon.

    2. I agree that the super slow shipping is annoying. Did they lay off a lot of their warehouse staff?

      Delete
    3. Oh Anne, that is the most frustrating.
And Kate, I experience that also. Wearthislikethis and I talked about it a few weeks ago here on JCA. I already don't want last years velvet going out blazer I got (ordered) for a song.

    4. Here is what I can say base on my observation. With 38 J.Crew stores closing down last year and additional 10+ or more store closing this month which all acts like mini warehouse. Also the introduction of J.Crew rewards program (free shipping). Shipping has definitely taken a nosedive.

    5. My order from 1/10 is just shipped today with all items, maybe yours will soon!

    6. Just got a notification that part of my 1/10 order shipped - 5 of the 7 items. I got two UPS notifications today though so hoping the two pairs of shoes are not far behind. Order is showing a Saturday estimated delivery date.

    7. One of my approx seventeen 1/10 items ordered shipped, also expected Saturday.
I already think I'll be returning the polartec half zip sweatshirt unless I'm madly in love. It looks a bit worn in store. My kilt is monk strap leopard shoes are what shipped. Fingers crossed.

    8. Yeah I feel your pain ladies. My order placed right before and right after Christmas just arrive this Monday and today. Really, really too slow but thankfully all items fit and were in great shape. The price was right for the clothing, but paying $12 per order to ship and over three weeks to arrive seems off side.

  5. Not a vent - We’re having some cooler weather this week and I’m really enjoying wearing some of my cold weather clothes. Today I’m wearing the warm ivory cable-knit sweater in Italian cashmere (item H2634) that I bought last January. I hesitated to buy it as it was still > $90 on clearance, but I’m glad I did. It’s so luxuriously thick and warm and fluffy. It’s actually 75% cashmere and 25% mohair, but it’s surprisingly low itch for mohair. It was definitely a good buy. 👍🏻

  6. Reposting from another thread....
It’s the worst I have one order coming and 3 pending.... mostly cashmere sweaters, velour pants for me and my 16yrs old, cashmere scarf and hat, some T-shirt’s. Also got a liberty coat on a pop back for $45 witn 60 off and 25 coupon sent over The Weekend. Can t wait to get them and take a look.

Also tried the every day cashmere crew neck sweater, it’s not soft, worse then the merino, perhaps it’s the color...(pink)
I got it on sale for $30, since it was price matched for a wrong sweater I received.... but I will return as I have so many options now!!!
The waffle cashmere is very soft, runs big, I reordered xxs this morning returned xs earlier in the week. Waiting on 2 grey sweaters Relaxed mockneck sweater in cashmere $ 53.38 Item K4563 and Mockneck pullover sweater in cashmere for $58 item: K456, they were very reasonable pricing....
Will update you as I get them....

  7. I am frustrated about final sale again. There are quite a few items that I would like to try that my store never carried but I don’t want to risk final sale.

  8. I posted from the parking lot but it didn't work, sigh... visited Madewell and Jcrew.

Madewell vent: not sure if it's all stores but the way they hang the sale jeans makes it impossible to actually see sizes and styles. It's a small store but if I can't see it how am I supposed to buy it.

J.Crew. Went for returns of the ReedS sweater in XS, the Point Sur charcoal wash jeans that ripped on first wear, and the Universale Faux leather skirt which is really nice and worth what I paid, except for the fact that it's about 2" longer than this mini-skirt wearing mama prefers. I tried with a bunch of things and realized it's not worth keeping in my skirt pile.

At the store I tried on a few sale items. Sale was only 50 off, not 60 as some stores are offering. Tried some jeans I really liked but I'm not sure if I should go for it, the Billie boot crop flare style J6300. My usual size up was a little loose, I'm tempted to order but final sale... I haven't kept a pair of crop flares yet so I'm reluctant. I also tried on a slim boyfriend style with the step hem in a size down from my usual, my regular size would fit better. (Currently both are 49.99 online, in store they were 64.99/69.99).

My vent, prices on these were higher in store than they are online. I also tried the High-waisted wide-leg pant with asymmetrical button in plaid Again in the 00 which just fit, but I brought it up with my returns to check the price and it was $117.99 as opposed to the 59.99 online. Sometimes store prices are better, and they would have matched online, but I was on the fence as it was. These are really the type,of pants you need to bring home and try on with the right shoes. Pics are difficult. I could see wearing them with a white/black tee or tank and low sandals or sneakers. They're super lightweight and would be fun for warmer weather.

    1. Oh I'd also like my orders from 1/10, etc.
I actually ordered two items today that weren't final sale, losta few others while I was checking out.
I got the plaid flats with the sparkly bow. For whatever reason I've been wanting a low heeled pair of plaid shoes. I tend to wear heels more over the holidays but could see wearing these instead. Not final sale.
I also ordered the wide leg cropped ponte pant. I had another pair of these I gave my daughter but they had no pockets and were kind of tight. I'm not sure about these but they're not final.

BTW the wide leg cropped knit pant is by far the best $25 or so I've spent...they're so comfortable and with a sweater look put together even though they're a size too big. I've been living in them around the house but if I was so inclined I could wear them anywhere. I haven't washed them, but I intend to just hand wash and air dry.

    2. I have these: Ponte wide-leg crop with patch pockets K3321
      size: SMALL| color: NAVY
I ordered them at 60% + 15%. True-fit suggested XS, but I ordered XS and S. I prefer the looser fit of S, the XS was short in the crotch. They ride a little lower on my hips, but still fine. I really like the weight of the fabric, and the way they drape. I know my husband dislikes cropped pants, but he does not have to wear these. I'd say I like them enough they overcome the crop length. I think they will be perfect for work with a pair of loafers in Spring and Fall.

      Delete
    3. I remember you said you liked them. I'm not sure about the rise either, I'm a 00/0 on bottom so I think the XS is the right call but this type of bottom can be weird on my bottom. I prob didn't pay the dirt cheap price you paid! But if they won't work for me I'll return.

      Delete
    4. XS should work then as I am a 2 now.

  9. I never find anything in that Madewell. Maybe the jeans will make it off final sale? It can be hard for the stores to keep up with the changes in price. It seems like corporate tests out a lower price online before sending a memo to stores to actually stocker the garments that way. That's why a manager will always PM online. Of course, at that point it need to be in stock and available for viewing...
I like those flats! If I didn't have plaid flats I'd be all over them.
Glad to hear you are enjoying the wide leg cropped knit pant. My intention is to wear them to work before I decide to use them as a glorified sweatpant, so with the tags they sit until the weather warms up a lil bit. They seem so yummy.

    1. So yummy!

I'll keep checking the jeans. I mean I don't need them but since I don't have ANY crop flares (I've sold or given away each pair I've bought) I'm not sure if I just hate the style or haven't found the right ones. These fit well.

Also for some reason I'm up a few lbs and hate all my jeans right now. Prob means I shouldn't buy anything.

      Delete
    2. I didn't like that pair I recently bought so I am holding tight to the one pair I have that works for me. It's hard to gauge the thickness and stretch on all the difference crew jeans. All I've been reaching for is my boyfriends anyway.
Pass until you're feeling back to yourself!

      Delete
    3. I know what you mean, I seem to rotate through several of my boyfriend jeans most often, I definitely play favorites depending on time of year, my weight, etc, I have to say the ones I tried looked good! Maybe I'll go back later in the week and try them again with other shoes. Even for $25 it's stupid to have something sit unworn.

  10. Visited store to do a few returns. Sale is 60% (North Michigan Ave. Chicago) and the sale section was packed full compared to my visit last week. Tons of word sweatshirts, plaid shirts, surprising amount of Liberty perfect fit shirts and a lot of jeans and pants. Wonder if they got more stock transferred in from other stores or if this stuff was in the stockroom? Trying to hold out for the new arrivals next week. Don't really need any more winter clothes.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think with all the stores closing right now, it's possible a lot of the stock might be transfers from other stores? Especially the Liberty shirts, which generally seem to sell out fairly quickly otherwise.

      Delete
    2. Often times there is a lot in the back,so once is sold it will be replenished from back stock.
Also all online returns thats are with a .99 price at the end go into the sale section.

  11. My orders from a week ago are beginning to ship. I know I'm in the minority because I don't really mind.

I do mind that so many items are Final Sale. I'm thinking this is a necessity due to increases in orders and what would be increases in returns that they just wouldn't be able to handle. Still, while some FS items are dirt cheap, many are not, and don't warrant the FS conditions.

    1. I'm not in a rush to get my clothes, but I like when they ship promptly for two reasons, so I can return what I know doesn't work right away, and so that I can reorder something else if I choose, while a good sale is ongoing.

      Delete
    2. i get it...but really shopping returning reordering. I don't want another job.its too much work for clothing. and wasteful for me
to ship it all up in Canada considering the carbon footprint

  12. The popback Collection lady jacket in English tweed G2603 BLUE shipped. So did Everyday cashmere pullover hoodie sweater J6633
SMALL|BRIGHT CERISE. Neither were final sale, both were 60% off. I will not see them for a while, since I am back to the hospital tomorrow AM for the fourth of what was supposed to be two surgeries. But I will be able to decide when I get home.

There are some other items coming as well three shirts and a scarf and boxers for the Mr. from the crazy men's sale. I also sent for a leopard perfect shirt, a pair of camo boyfriend chinos (here's to your opinions, @Suz Has and @Cheritheberry) and a suede belt that matched the chinos. None of these were Final Sale either. I called CS and they kindly honored an extra 25% my order.

Hopefully I can make one last return to my local store before it closes on the 27th, or at least send my husband. I am returning a velvet mock-neck that is blood colored not burgundy to my eyes. And I am sure some of the other items will go back - I'd be surprised if they ALL passed the test.

My home nurse is making out, today I gave her two of my AnnTaylor tops and three mens shirts from Banana. She said her daughter already claimed the wide leg linen pants I gave her earlier, but she stood her ground on two other pairs of pants. So I am making some room to squeeze in new items...I also have 6 or 7 pants that are too big that I am not ready to part with. I think I will move them to the guest room closet and decide later if I can tailor them. Skirts seem to tolerate a size change better.

I was tempted by those chinos but since I love my camo foundry pants (after trying how many sizes) and preferring the darker color of those to the softer palette of the chinos, I stayed strong.
So nice of you to pass all that along to someone who will enjoy it. I've been working on a huge box of donations, they're next week. By the time I close it it might be too heavy and I might need a second box. Happy to say goodbye! And thank everything!

I do enjoy giving clothing directly, and then sometimes you get to see your old favorites again. Once when I was a student I got on a bus in Allentown, PA and saw a woman wearing my old coat I'd just donated to a shelter in town.

Feel better soon, I know how crummy it can be. I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer at the age of 24 just after my little boy was born.I should be dead by statistics, however I flew to Italy where a doctor/researcher treated me and saved my life. He recently passed away at the ripe old age of 97 and thanks to him I outlived him. If we all have good health we’re rich. Nothing else matters

  17. Went to purchase the new arrival item Officer Patch-Pocket wide leg pant this morning: and for the first time, when I went to check out, got this message - "Item L0063 does not exist in the UPS i-parcel product catalog. Please remove from your shopping bag in order to checkout." I live in Canada. I have a US shipping mailing address I can use as an alternative but it's not letting me do that, either. I will never be able to get these pants in Canada, since they don't carry tall sizes in the stores here. SO. ANGRY.
