This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
Big sale update at 6 am - 2000+! Some items dropped in price so... Made two orders of pop-backs. Had my eye on the parrot sweater for awhile, and picked up the pink Tippi I’ve been wanting for $18. Fingers cross they come brand new instead of stretched and manhandled.
ReplyDeleteI was stalking the bag straps for a long time and found both colors this morning!
DeleteI bought white and black slub cardigans now that they've been reduced. They sold out at y store as soon as they went on sale and I really wanted to replace my Splendid ones that are probably 7 years old, as I use them all the time.
DeleteQ: do those of you with educator discounts request them every time you place an online order? If so, do you call or email to get it adjusted?
ReplyDeleteActually you can do it on J.Crew's website. I just used it this morning. At the bottom of their page, click on Students & Teachers Get 15% Off. Then you enter your info, and you should get a unique code on the spot. I think the code can only be used once, so you have to repeat the process each time you order online.
DeleteI get the codes online as Engineer Lea described above, but I've found they often can't be combined with other offers, or just don't work for whatever reason when I enter them during my online order process. I always chat a rep after placing my order and provide the code--they've never not applied it for me.
DeleteI emailed CS a list of my orders this week and a photo of my school ID from my school email this morning. They took the discount off of each order and credited me. I find that it's easier to do this than wait for the 15% off code to come through as some items are limited in supply and I don't want to miss them.

ReplyDeletethe perpetual dilemma: do I order the dress I want today (FP with 30% off) or wait for it to go on sale with additional % off. Seems like 90% of the time I should have waited. :P
ReplyDeleteI bit again today for the high low cardigan in ivory, a mockneck tunic sweater in navy, and a t-shirt for my husband. I've received this week the strappy leather sandals (a love with the low block heel) and the short-sleeve knit dress (a love with the slightly flared skirt and longer sleeves). I'm waiting on the ruffle chino jacket and a woven belt for my husband. The free shipping for members is a real perk.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, my credit card company offers a service called Paribus. It price watches any purchases made with that card at stores that offer price adjustments. Then it automatically e-mails the store/company for a price adjustment if the price goes down within the store's time frame. It caught two items for me this week and while it was only a few dollars a piece, it sure was nice to not have to stalk them myself.
I went to make my returns at both J,crew and Madewell. For anyone who used their $25 off from Madewell and was returning what they bought, my store told me if I chose something today she'd credit the purchase. Limited selection so I bought two white t shirts.
ReplyDeleteSale at my store was 30% off and additional 20% for using jcrew card. I'm annoyed I didn't get the Sleeveless smocked top in falling floral when it was 50% off and the additional 20 but I like the colors and it looks good on my complexion. Sizing is weird, it runs large. I tried the 0 and probably couldn't have taken much bigger, maybe tall but the way it sits probably not. I find the waist sits a little funny but I was wearing a bulky belt.
I also saw the slim perfect shirt in linen/leopard and like the pattern. It's more rich than the pants/blazer I think. Off white with dark black and saddle colored spots. This runs small. I tried the 2 but it was tight so I took the 6 (no 4 in store but that prob would have been tight).
One odd thing, not that I tried too hard but it's not as easy as pulling out your credit card to use your rewards. I could have tried to log into my account but since it was only $10 I decided to save it for another time.
The SA at Madewell wouldn't let me exchange when I asked. =(.
DeleteAnd sale was no % off at my J. Crew store, either! Man, that grates. Also, I specifically asked, do you need my email for this purchase to count for rewards, and the SA said no, but then when she rang it up, there's nothing about it. She told me to go online to enter the transaction details. I don't see that option, at least right now on mobile. So now I have to make sure I keep track of the receipt u til I get home, and probably have a customer service call in my future. Very annoying when I tried very hard to prompt the SA at checkout.
DeleteUpdate- the livechat CS can't input purchase details, but I asked her to pass it up the chain- no confirmation about whether reaching out to customer service via phone or e-mail would be more direct. So MAKE SURE your sales associate logs your e-mail when you make an in-store purchase, because otherwise it will be a big kerfluffle to get it associated with your rewards account. I hope that in the future store sales associates will be better educated that this needs to be input at the time of purchase too!
DeleteThis is one aspect I'm,happy about with Madewell since they don't have their own credit card. They always ask for my email, and i have to say,my jcrew assoc do as well. Makes returns, etc much easier.
DeleteWait. If you use your JCrew card, it still applies the rewards, right? The email is for if you don't have a card?
DeleteMiss JR, the way it was explained to me, the Crew card rewards are still a separate program and they're merging the two programs in October. Still not fully clear on the details.
DeleteSuz, I agree the sizing on the falling floral top is odd. I ended up with a 4T (usually a 4/6 on top) and it's still a little loose in the body but not enough that I could have gone down. The regular 4 was too short.
If anyone’s interested in a blast from the past and is a lucky size 10T there’s a pair of Bristols in the sales section! Haven’t seen those in YEARS.
ReplyDeleteI will stop by J Crew for a few try-ons after my big shopping project of the weekend ... professional bra fitting at Nordstrom. I do it every year as I have gotten older esp. if my weight fluctuates. Nothing makes your clothes look better than the right foundation - and the fitters at Nordstrom are the best trained. Best $ I spend all year.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with this! Best trained and best selection.
DeleteUpdate. Couldn’t visit the J Crew at Woodfield - because it closed. Haven’t been there in a while and I had no idea.
DeleteThis is somewhat off topic but a PSA (and a little rant) for shoppers who buy J Crew items on Thredup. I just noticed that returns are no longer free and a $2 restocking surcharge will be added to each item you return. At first I thought the charge was applied to sale items but it is actually applied to each individual item purchased. With their shipping already $8, if you return something and then decide you want an actual refund and not a store credit, you pay return shipping plus a $2 restocking charge for each item you return. They have also added extra shipping fees to items not from "your" warehouse. Apparently that means it is more expensive for me to buy an item located in their Illinois warehouse to be shipped to Maryland, like a few states away. I am a bit fan of buying pre-loved items but their business practices are really annoying and I didn't see any notification of these changes, it was just something I noticed one day last week. They do have good deals but I wanted to pass this along in case someone else wasn't aware. You could end up paying them to buy and then return an item.
ReplyDeleteI scored the ruffle neck lace top in copper this morning and I’m so excited! I love the blush top I have and hope to score in other colors either on popback or in this next rollout. Seems lace and leopard will be the big themes (and some older lace items say backordered until Aug. 15). I also noticed a few new items - zebra Jackie and a pointelle sweater. Do I need the leopard coat? Looks like that is coming back per carolhawk06 on insta.
ReplyDeleteI got the copper lace top this morning too! I think it’ll be very pretty for fall though my skin tone might not work well if it’s more orange than brown. I went with reviews and got a size bigger than I normally take. I was also eying the leopard faux fur vest pop back: someone in my company wore it a lot last winter with a caramel cashmere turtleneck and she looked super chic. Still thinking about it even though I’m not a faux fur person - can’t figure out how to wash it. I can only dry clean to a point when I stop feeling the fabric and can only feel the chemicals. I also said I wouldn’t stalk the regatta skirt anymore but there was a petite small this morning and gave it shot. Hoping the petite sizing will deal with my issues of it being too wide and long.
DeleteLooks like some new markdowns this morning that I didn’t see yesterday. To me prices are still high for summer items with no extra % off. Most retailers started to clear summer stuff out July 4th and have their summer items on a deep discount at this point in time. Some cute items were marked down but since I already did my summer vacay and it is mid August no need to buy. If the things I am interested in sell out before a decent % off sale or additional markdown so be it.
ReplyDeleteWent to the Tampa store today to pick up my orders. The navy tie-neck sweater with the white/red tie is super cute. Runs small. I ordered a size up as that was the only one available and it’s a good fit. Earlier this week my regular size popped back and I ordered that too, so going to see which size is best.
ReplyDeleteSmall sale section, nothing interesting in the Tampa store. But I had a couple of great Collection and Madewell scores at Factory in the Ellenton outlet two days ago. My main reason for visiting Factory is their sale section;-))
Will you let me know which you return? I’ve been stalking a small in the navy w white/red tie.
Delete@eeps I will be returning a large or x large. My usual size is medium, but with cashmere and merino sweaters I always size up as they shrink a bit when washed. But here the x large wasn’t a bad fit at all. And it’s not like I gained weight ;-))
DeleteAh ok!
DeleteInteresting.. collection items at factory... I been searching for the tweed lady jacket with ties from last season forever.... have you ever seen one at the factory store? Thanks !
ReplyDelete@kate That such a great jacket!! I didn’t see that particular jacket, it’s usually only a few Collection items at Factory. But I would def keep an eye out if you’re visiting Factory, it’s not the first time I found Collection (and retail and Madewell) items there
DeleteI have also found some Madewell items at my factory store. Last time I was there I got three pairs of Madewell jeans for $15 each. You have to look things over well for flaws but worth it.
DeleteThanks all!!! I usually go to Woodbury commons for outlet.... always find that jcrew store
DeleteA mess and kinda bought out.... it’s also like 1.5 hours away.... but will have to take a loo next time I go....
