This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
Hi JCA's - any Madewell Insiders out there receive their birthday gift for August? Is it a $25 coupon?
ReplyDeleteYes and yes -- I received an e-mail code on the first of the month. Haven't used it yet. Says it can't be combined with other promos (presumably including the current 15% insider promo) -- boo. I notice BR changed their b-day rewards to allow combining w/promos.
DeleteI did too. Wanted to spend it on RMS blush, but excluded. Grrr.
DeleteAsk CS they will combine they did for me when I went to purchase my Reid Ballet flats
DeleteThanks all, and happy August birthdays!

ReplyDeletePetite Peyton wide-leg pant in four-season stretch: wow, these run really small. I liked the style and fabric but could not come close to zipping up the petite 8 which is my usual pant size. I think I would have to size up two sizes. And something wrong with the website, could not leave a review there.
ReplyDeletewomen's wrap cardigan in supersoft yarn - runs big. size down one size.
ReplyDeleteRibbed long cardigan sweater- same. IMO
If I have to choose between the the two I like the ribbed one in Navy. tried the super soft in the grey. nice...colour.
Got the unstructured blazer in two sizes and neither worked. I think if you have shoulders or arms, the blazer won't work for you. The body is bizarre wide cut and the shoulder/arms are slim. It's like they took the cut of the top third of a Parke blazer and then drew a triangle down from the shoulders. Great price but hard to fit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for confirming my skipping this was good!
DeleteI nearly got a Factory Schoolboy when they were on sale yesterday, but I think I actually am best off with jackets that have a fitted waist - even a small peplum - since I am bigger in the shoulders and small in the middle. So for now I will wear what I already own, and see what comes up in the future.
Eeps, exactly.
DeleteI have been buying the microfiber underwire bras and matching bikini hipsters as they pop up. I have the leopard and the blue and white gingham on the way. I bought two pair of panties for each, since they wear out faster. The panties do run small - I am a size 4 (sometimes 2) and the mediums fit. I also have a pair in large and they are loose but not too much to wear. The leg openings are not a problem with either pair though. My usual downfall with underwear is too tight leg openings for my muscular legs, but these are fine. The bra is so comfortable - unlined microfiber with a light underwire. I have never purchased a bra with the foam padding and I prefer an underwire for support. This is perfect! I did go up a cup size, but might have been ok with my usual size. These are hand wash no dryer, but since they are so light it is very easy to rinse out and they dry fast.
ReplyDeleteI finally pulled the trigger on the silk Collection Tiger Dress. I tried it on and it looks exactly like it does in the photo. It is very nice. It is short. I am not tall so it hits me at the knee. It hides a lot. I have a great pair of red mules that I never wear and they look great with this dress. It is versatile - can be worn now, into fall, into winter and spring and it's hard to find a dress like that. Most likely a keeper.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to figure out how to get a price adjustment way past the adjustment period. I ordered the SZ Blockprints Kitty top back in July and was on the fence about keeping it as it is so voluminous and I generally like more fitted clothing. I paid the full $88 for it but now it's on sale (not in my size though) and with the cardmember discount I could get it for $32. That is more like it! I suppose I can email them and hope for the "one time courtesy" but because the item keeps selling out, I don't know if they would even consider it. Or do I go to the store, return it, and buy it back? I normally don't put this much thought into one item of clothing. :)
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem with the drapey keyhole dress. I got it earlier this summer in a size larger than I normally take because it was a popback. I just snagged a popback of my regular size at a better price, and now I don't know how if 1. I can return the larger size, or 2. If I can't return it, if I can at least get that price adjusted to the better price.
DeleteLiz - I just got an answer to my own question and maybe this will help you out: I just called CS and explained my situation. My item was ordered June 23. CS noted that I'm just one day over my return window but she was going to note in my file that I can return the larger size. I also explained to her that I might end up keeping both since I love the dress so much, and she price matched the older item to the better price I paid last week! So now I can return it and I don't, I'm paying less for the dress I bought two months ago. CS was super nice on the phone. Gotta love JC CS!
DeleteI was able to go to the store and return the shirt, and buy it back. Boy was I glad I did that, as I got 30% off sale, plus an additional 25% off since I am a cardholder. So the originally $88 shirt I was on the fence about was $22 in the end.
