This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
no...absolutely no need to go. sad.
ReplyDeleteMore puppies!
ReplyDeleteJust ONE more day! JC, you must have something real special waiting in the warehouse. Either I have noticed a few new things floating around or I have not been paying close enough attention since you sprung this promo on me. You can do it...I know you can come up with something real special by Monday!
ReplyDeleteI just left my local store. I was just going to make lots of returns and an exchange. They were offering an additional 30% off sale.
ReplyDeleteSo frustrating on line and in store promos are never the same. There are items I would purchase on line if there was a % off sale. Yes I know I could email customer service and see if they will match but I don’t feel like the items I want are worth jumping through the extra hoop.
DeleteWell at least they're offering +% off sale!
ReplyDeleteI placed an order two days ago and got the puppies email yesterday, so no visit this weekend for me. I'll probably have to go to a store (Brookfield in my case) for the eventual order pickup so hopefully there will be new preview items by then. Last visit was a snooze.
One of the SAs at Brookfield posted several photos on her IG last night of some new items (@kristymayn)...a lemon print dress, bright pink jumpsuit and a few striped dresses. I saw a few pairs of shoes on someone else's IG, one pair was a mix of very 80's looking pastel stripes.
DeleteBanana Republic/Gap just got my money. Some nice prints at BR right now and a dress at Gap that seemed very Madewell-esque! -lep33shops
ReplyDeleteI stopped in to pay my bill, small as it was. It was my “excuse” to check things out as I haven’t been in store in a while. 30% off still going, only one other customer there.
ReplyDeleteTwo observations: 1) the new lines are just not compelling - the jewelry w all the string and tassels looks so cheap, the intimates are so “tweenish,” stuff that Aerie and Target are already doing really well, 2) everything else is repetitive of items I already have multiples of, from prior years when quality was better. Chambray shirts, Liberty prints in shades of blue, word tees, distressed denim, sweater blazers, I know they are “classics” but how many of these does one need? And funnel-neck tops must be the new OTS because they are becoming equally overdone.
Uninspired and some of it is quite juvenile. I hope there will be more color and polish in the coming rollouts or my spending will surely stay near zero.
+1 on the funnelneck tops, I was thinking the same thing. M
DeleteRuffles, I agree on the repetitive “classics.” I bought the terrier shirt and Salut shirt last year on crazy sale. Why would I buy the new version that’s the same pattern and cut in a different color?
DeleteI did post last week that I love the shirt dress and knit dress I recently purchased. They are both classic in color and cut (no ruffles, missing sleeves, cut outs, crazy buttons, etc) and look similar to styles of yesteryear. They’re just different enough though to make me add them to my closet and know that they’ll get use for many years.
In a way, they can't win with the classics. People ask them to bring back the classics, but when they do, a lot of us (me included) already have them in our closets so we don't need to buy more of the same.
Delete@cate - If they do classics (and basics) right, this is not an issue. The opposite, in fact. When I already have something in my closet that I love and wear often, I'm happy to be able to add it in more colors or to replace the heavily worn one in my closet. If I was in charge, I'd forget about chasing the silly fast fashion trends and concentrate on offering quality basics in a variety of pretty colors. I'm amazed at how many of J.Crew's very popular basics are always out of stock and then discontinued even though the demand is obviously there. It seems like any reasonably competent merchant would jump on the opportunity for guaranteed sales.
DeleteJeanne, my classics/basics haven't worn out though. And I don't want them in more colors, it would be more clothes than I need. There's nothing they could do to create more classics that would be a guaranteed sale from me. I don't need or want another cardigan or blazer or pair of dark pants (or even another Cocoon coat!) etc. I agree with you on not wanting the silly fast fashion trends though. Most of those are a flop for me.
DeleteRemember “Classics with a twist?” I used to “collect” J Crew Schoolboys, cashmere, Cafe Capris, Ceces, silk shells, pencil skirts etc. because they were beautifully made in luscious colors. I bought multiples still have many of those.
DeleteThe “classics” today are boring and inferior quality - you can get this stuff everywhere. Word tees, really? And the trendy, fast fashion stuff is not selling - sales results prove that. The rare items that do sell through? Those are “Classics with a twist.”
I definitely had things I collected (Cafe Capris, Darby loafers, Cocoon coats, cashmere sweaters, blazers, Valentinas). What would you say are some recent "Classics with a twist"? I can't think of anything.
DeleteCate, the Going-Out Blazer. Not much else comes to mind.

ReplyDeleteSo bummed
ReplyDeleteIt's so bad
Stores are really empty and clothes are low quality. I feel like this is really the beginning of the end
No turnaround now
I date the beginning of the end to Mickey Drexler’s decision to take the company private and burden it with excessive debt. Absent a glorious rescue (listens for hoofbeats), the outcome was inevitable.
DeleteFor me it was when he/they decided to expand around the world. It seemed like too much, too fast, and we can see now that they didn't have their existing house in order. Now the US stores are closing and the company's product is worse, so what good did it do to open all those new stores?
DeleteI went shopping for J.Crew on eBay tonight. I bought a pair of Collection calf hair ankle boots from autumn 2015. This is my first purchase from eBay and I'm excited to get them! I hope they fit and are brand new, like the listing claims. You ladies have been inspiring me to search eBay for older, more quality items that I missed out on, so thank you! :-)
ReplyDeleteI think I have those. The toe is slightly pointy, and the background of the leopard is more white than tan? I actually sized down in them, but the smaller of your two sizes might be fine, if we are talking about the same shoe. Hope they work for you!
DeleteYes, they are the boots, Suz. I’m normally an 8.5 in J.Crew shoes/boots, but the matte Chelsea rain boots from last autumn I needed an 8. So I ordered these Collection boots in an 8. I looked at the J.Crew product page for them and reviews said they ran large, so fingers crossed I made the right choice!
DeleteI have those boots and love them. I too went half a size down and they fit really well, hope they work out well for you!
DeleteMBaker, I'm at 8.5 in Gemmas and most other J.crew shoes (9 in Lena and other high rounded toe styles for some reason) and I also took these in an 8! 8.5 probably would have worked with socks too.
DeleteAmahendra and Suz, so glad to know you both sized down, too! Thanks for your input!
DeleteI have a couple of returns so I’m sure I’ll stop by. Speaking of funnel neck tops, I ordered the eyelet one because I love eyelet and I’m going to keep this one. The other eyelet tops ran short for me but this one is cut a little better. I also think it’s cut slimmer in the arms. I’m returning the chambray wide leg crops because they are unflattering on me. I’m a pear shape and like to camaflouge by bottom half and these draw attention to it. I like the black crepe version though! Finally, I’m on the fence about the black embroidered skirt. It’s a fine skirt but doesn’t wow me and that worries me about how much I’ll wear it. Need to try it on with a few things.
ReplyDeleteI noticed a super cute striped tunic that I think is new on the site. I might order that to try.
Oh! And factory actually has a skirt that is long enough for me to try! 26” on their tie waist midi. That will be knee length on me but I’m excited to try it. I’ll report back once they arrive.
ReplyDelete@Liz I would appreciate a report back on that skirt. It was one of the few items from the rollout I was interested in. The factory items listed as midi all tend to be knee length on me as well and I am only 5’4.
DeleteYes, I’ll be stopping by to check out the new arrivals in person and also make a return of a pop-back sweater. I am curious about the fit and quality of the garment-dyed chino swing jacket (H8303) in thyme flower and faded teak. The sweater I am returning was from the Holiday 2017 rollout...The thing, as I would like to call it, was covered in animal hair...most likely cat. At this point, any sold out sweater that pops back is most likely a return. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of purchases, I made a few from theoutnet (which is doing a huge sale of up to 85% off) and Moda Operandi. One piece that is an absolute steal given the gorgeous print and design is a Halston Heritage chiffon jumpsuit at 64USD before tax. Granted that the item is 100% polyester, it feels more like silk chiffon.
Lastly, does anyone have recommendations for stopping or reducing the shedding of angora sweaters? I picked up two, one from BNY and another from theOutnet. A quick google search recommends the freezer method whereby a quick freeze supposedly allows you to shake out the loose fur. Has anyone tried this? Did it work? Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
And, happy belated International Women’s Day to all! And thank you Alexis for creating and still hosting such a wonderful forum!
@Namora, the freezer trick is only a temporary fix. Two choices, return the item or carry a one of those sticky adhesive rollers around. I even brought a new sweater and had it dry cleaned and again it was only a temporary fix. Apologize for the lack of fix-its. BTW I love outnet, I had forgotten all about them and picked up a beautiful Pucci floral print dress and a pair of $19.00 Superga sneakers which are my favorites. I am declaring bankruptcy after this though:)Congratulations on your purchases now those were good deals!!
DeleteI was referring to Outnet and Moda Operandi.
DeleteLynn, thank you for your sound advice! Nonsense with the apology! :D You are right. I’ll return the leopard one from BNY and keep the white one from theoutnet. Sigh. Until I learn to cope with the shedding, there is really no need to take care of two sweaters that shed! I think I’ll pair the white one with beige pants or white denim to cut down some appearances by the mighty roller. Hah! Baby steps...
DeleteOh and back at you with the great deal on those Superga sneakers! Pucci dresses are worth the temporary declaration of bankruptcy! ;)

ReplyDeleteI went to do returns. I had an order wait listed and, of course, as soon as I mention I might cancel it, it ships. Anyway, I walked around quickly and didn't really bother with anything and walked out empty handed. I have a $30 gift card so maybe there's a little something in the next roll out I can spend it on.
ReplyDeleteThree different devices and the jcrew website won’t work on any of them. I hate their website!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes very frustrating! Good promo, yet can’t order anything!
DeleteHow To Succeed In Business?
DeleteOK, so it’s not just me. Do they NOT want our money?!
DeleteDoesn’t work for me either. Again their technology fails them. It does seem like they really don’t want our money which in a way is fine as I am finding other retailers to give my money to anyway. I am waiting on purchases from both Banana and Gap that I placed during friends and family. Haven’t bought anything from Gap in ages but they had some cute things and it is time to start looking elsewhere instead of waiting for the crew to turn it around or get their stuff together. That just doesn’t feel like it will ever happen.
DeleteI had the same experience this morning with my ipad. I went through Ebates (even though it's a measly 1.5%) and it kept trying to charge me for shipping. Switched over to my desktop and successfully ordered the short sleeved searsucker shirt in blue stripe #G4788 and a peri blue crewneck fleece sweatshirt H4566. Not that I needed either but free shipping and a good deal are hard for me to pass up.
DeleteConsidering it has been HOURS of not working, this is beyond unacceptable. This is the only website I ever have trouble on. Maybe if they didn’t have a different price everyday, it would help things run smoother.
DeleteI posted on their IG page and they replied. Basically, they still don’t have a resolution or a timeline.
DeleteSame same - at least on the iPad and my phone. Worked fine once I switched to my laptop, and had no trouble placing an order for stuff I don’t need...
DeleteDitto!
DeleteSite finally worked once I switched to my laptop. However, I’d already given up and just had Nordstrom price match. So much easier.🙃.
Deletenot working for me either, I've been trying on and off for about an hour. The page starts to load then it just stops. SIGH...
ReplyDeleteWhat on earth is with the main image of the new "Swimmers T-Shirt" (item H7879)? I have only one word: disconcerting.
ReplyDeleteThe radiator peeking out from the right? Yeah noticed that too. Hey, at least J.Crew fixed the placement of the apostrophe for the line “the tees you need”.
DeleteLol, yes, that's the one! I missed the apostrophe misplacement -- thankfully they fixed that, and the photo now! SMH!
DeleteWhat the actual F? I've been trying to get on J. Crew all morning and the whole webpage is basically broken. So much for 30% + 10% off everything.
ReplyDeleteWell this site hasn't been working very well for me either, I swear I posted twice already but don't see it. Couldn't get on all morning or if I did it was just stuck. I thought it was just my internet because there have been a lot of issues in our town with downed lines and tree work from the storm.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I finally got on and half of what was there this AM was gone, but I ordered the polka dot crepe top with the puff sleeves. I ordered it last week but price was reduced again. I'm hoping I can wear it with my white linen sailor pants from last spring. I usually dress monochromatically but when I wear white bottoms but so,etimes that feels too stark. Hopefully the polka dots will soften the contrast of the black. Of course the silk wide leg crops sold out again or disappeared.
They're having problems with Safari since early a.m. Firefox or Google Chrome works no glitches
ReplyDeleteI tried Chrome earlier and it didn't work either.
DeleteYeah, I tried Safari and Firefox several times earlier today and neither worked.
DeleteWhat did everyone buy with the promo? (Once the website worked)
