My waiting / stalking paid off - scored a brand new embroidered star Tippi last night on Poshmark for $27! She had listed it four hours prior & I snatched that thing up immediately. Woo hoooooooooooo.
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad you finally found one (and at such a good price)!!
DeleteWoot woot! That is super awesome and you're going to love that sweater! I think it's so pretty and special. I bought it at FP when it first debuted (think i used a teeny Bounce back towards it), but I bought a second one as a back-up when it went on sale (yes, I love it that much!) The sale one was $30 so I didn't mind. Enjoy your find!!!
DeleteThat's awesome!! Great find!
DeleteI received the striped sweater skirt that has a mark. When visiting my store last week, the store director offered to pay for dry cleaning the skirt to see if that would remove the mark since the skirt is sold out and can't be replaced. A nice gesture.
ReplyDeleteThere must have been a website glitch this morning - I scored a navy plaid cape scarf for $5.99 CDN! I placed my order at about 6:30 am EST. Just received my order confirmation.
ReplyDeleteHmmm ...back up to $44. nice catch.
DeleteThanks! Wish I had taken a screenshot to share. The other strange thing, at least on the CDN side, was that I was charged $12 shipping but no taxes. So my order total was $17.99 all in. Bizarre, but I'm not complaining. I'm a long time lurker and felt compelled to be a first time poster hoping other could take advantage!
DeleteThough I thought of it as a spring/summer piece when I bought it, I decided to try wearing my Ecru Denim Jacket this week. I was inspired by the item description that said something like "we're wearing ours year-round". I wore it over a citron cashmere long sleeve T, added a gauzy wool scarf in cabernet, and voila! I loved the look, felt much more pulled together than I would wearing the sweater on its own, and didn't think it looked summery at all. I'll admit it was pretty bulky under my winter coat, but nice to know I can get 4-season use from it.
ReplyDeleteI love that combo! I have been eyeballing the ecru Lookout jeans - they're on promo right now but I bet they'll go even less than $90. Definitely will wear those year-round.
DeleteUh oh, a little update to yesterday's great outfit. When I looked at my ecru jacket in the daylight today, I could see colour transfer from my cabernet scarf along the collar. I guess that's one of the perils of ecru denim, hopefully it will wash out.
DeleteI love that I am sticking to my resolution of making thoughtful purchases that already go with the items I own. I only purchased two items in February. The silk polka for jumpsuit for an upcoming spring event for a steal (this is a surprise love for me) and polka dot Jackie shell. Both were purchased using rewards. I am Learning to shop my closet and stick with a general color palette that works for me which helps me be able to mix and match more easily. I still love reading about everyone else's purchases and have a few items that I will bite on if they make it to sale.
ReplyDelete@JessF, that is awesome! (aren't surprise loves the best?!) I am in the same exact boat as you -- slowly trying to make thoughtful (versus impulse) purchases, and also shopping my closet (especially since I still have NWT stuff in there.) I only made one purchase in Feb -- I bought a yellow popover and some Pixies, but I ended up returning both for the Drake's giraffe top (an item that I really love, BTW!) Haven't been looking at sale and deleted everything from my Wishlist (because I don't *need* any of it.)
DeleteI have some big bills coming up that I have to deal with as well, so that has also been a big reality check, but it's also one that I could use. I still LOVE coming to this site and seeing what others are loving or hating or wishlisting - it's fun to talk about clothes!
I'm almost through month #2 of my self-imposed ban and it has been great for really thinking through what I actually want (don't need anything). Fortunately (for me) I don't love much from this roll out. -lep33shops
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you! I am finding the longer I don't buy the easier it is. I don't like much from this rollout either and am having fun remixing my closet. Of course there are still a handful of new with tags items to mix in purchased last year.
DeleteI'm with you, Lauren and JessF! I've got to get through March on my ban but I've been having a lot of fun wearing some of the treasures in my closet I has all but forgotten.
DeleteI agree that it gets easier the longer you stay on your ban. It sounds strange but it's true - you get out of the habit of compulsively checking the sale section every day and focus on other things. I love J Crew and JCA as much as ever ... And I'll be happy to make a few thoughtful purchases when my ban is over, but it works for me.

DeleteI agree...it getting easier. i am going to try and through March now
Ruffles: yes, that's exactly it! Planning on doing one more month, too!
DeleteRuffles, I think the same as you! You do break that vicious cycle of just buying to buy or because it's a good deal. I've been focusing on reading and finding 'vintage' crew in my closet that need some love. We must #resist but after a while the temptation to buy is virtually non existence!
DeleteFor me, one of the best parts about a shopping ban, is the realization that I am just as happy (happier, even) when I am not buying new clothes. Clothes don't make me happy and freeing myself from checking, stalking, buying, returning, not wearing, etc. makes me feel less stress and anxiety. I love all the clothes I have. I'm putting together new outfits and wearing things I haven't worn.
DeleteTotally, Beverly! Also, I've noticed that everything I might have impulsed bought on a good sale is still around. So it's a good reminder that there's no urgency needed!
DeleteGot the Drake's bird of paradise shirt the other week when it popped back in my size. Wore it today for the first time, LOVE it. For me it is tts though I know some have sized up. Best part - the hubs adores the shirt and literally can't take his eyes off it lol. Or me ;)
ReplyDeleteI saw it on your IG, love how you styled it with the gold shoes! The hubby luv is a total plus! (Seriously, I love when my husband notices certain items.) What a great popback!
Deletecan you share the instagram...name? would love to see styling
DeleteUnknown, her IG username is poettodesign. I checked it out and it looks great! I have those pants, do I need that shirt too ;)?
DeleteLauren, if you can snag that shirt, I'd say it would say it's totally worth it! I think it would look amazing with those pants for a special occasion. Thanks for the love!
ReplyDeleteI got the Lena pumps on sale and I must say, they are beautiful. The copper color is kind of muted and I love anything that wraps around the ankle! I can see wearing these a lot this spring (as long as it doesn't rain!). Of course, they are made in Italy and come very nicely/well packaged. I am between 8 and 9 and got 8.5 and they seem to fit well. Granted, I only have worn them around the house for a few minutes. I hope they don't become painful.
