This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
Any thoughts on this year's cashmere? Maybe it's just me but I find that some years are better than others in terms of quality, pilling, etc. Last year's items held up better than the prior one for me, anyway.
ReplyDeleteCashmere is one category that I expect to last. I don't mind the fast-fashion-level quality in most items these days, especially with all the promos, but cashmere should last for many years!
I have cabernet ruffle cashmere polo, collection cashmere open cardigan in snow and double faced cashmere camel top. While price points are quite different , I haven't any issues so far in terms of quality.
DeleteThanks, mygoddy! I was wondering about the double faced cashmere!
DeleteCan anybody confirm the percentage off sale in store? I'm waiting for it to go back up to 40 or 50%. I can't imagine it not budging since the merchandise is really not moving!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in store on Saturday it was only 30%. The pricing game is making me crazy!
DeleteNo kidding! I have given up on buying because keeping up with prices is like a full time job. But then again, the Crewlade is strong :)
DeleteIts 40%
DeleteI have found that percentages off sale are not consistent from store to store...some are 30% off while some are 40% off. My local factory store was 40% off but the one that I got my jacket from was 60% off.
DeleteThe promo is company wide
DeleteI placed an order through a store and it was 40% off.
DeleteWOW... 60% off. I have never seen that. the 40% company wide...I would call your local store to verify.
DeleteJust called Vancouver Store...its 40%.
oh....60% was Factory.
DeleteThanks Ina, DD and mygoddy
DeleteI wonder if if will not see a higher % off until Balck Friday and Cyber Monday....
ReplyDeleteI had wanted to get the factory school boy blazer in blue herringbone wool but I did not want to pay a lot for it. When I had gone to the clearance store a couple of weeks ago, I passed right by the outlet mall and they had one left and it was my size. I was so tempted but it was still going to be $60.00 and after the clearance store prices I just could not bring myself to buy it. Fast forward to today. I found one at a store in Cincinnati for $69.97 less 60% off and I had a code for another 15% off and free shipping. $26.00 total including tax. I am pretty excited about that. I really loved the look of the retail version blazer in the style guide last year that was shown over a blue v neck cardigan with the burgandy calf hair saddle bag purse and pink skirt. I have the purse and the sweater if only I could find the skirt. I think the quality and fit of the blazer are nice at factory especially for this price. This will be the first factory item I have bought in over 2 years.
ReplyDeleteWhat a deal! I'd love to get one of those! I may have to do some detective work a-la-doodle :)
Deletedoes anyone know when the next big roll out is?????
ReplyDeleteIna said on IG that the next big roll out is Nov 21. Apparently, their is a smaller roll out next week.
DeleteReceived the Denim Sheath Dress. Ordered my regular dress size. Fits tts and is very comfy as it has stretch. As many other reviewers pointed out it is shorter than listed. I am five four and it reaches the top of my knee caps. Also got the Houndstooth Going Places Dress. I will be returning this. I have the linen version and love it but don't feel the same love for this. It fits but the black band on the front and back look a little awkward on this to me. I feel like the linen one just flows better. Maybe would reconsider if it got marked down further. Tts in my regular dress size. Also got the Silk TwillTop in windowpane. Looked cute w/ my Teddie pants and some wedges. Will be keeping as I love the print. The v is low but I think I can get away with not wearing a Cami. I did size down on this one. HTH!
ReplyDeleteQuick review for anyone who is thinking of picking up the Petite button-front skirt in double-serge wool (item F5811) in Sale:
ReplyDeleteColor and quality are great. The double-serge wool is substantial as always, while the button-front/A-line design is a welcome alternative from the sea of Pencil Skirts. (Mind you, I love me some Pencils, it's just nice to have some variety, as it feels fresh.)
The Brunswick Blue is a beautiful cobalt, almost even blue-purplish in a certain light. Striking color. I'm 4'11" and the Petite was a perfect length for me -- a rarity, as I often have to hem even Petite lengths to accommodate my short little legs. OTOH, I don't think the Petite should be too short for others -- mine hits just at the top of the knee.
Now the lone problem (for me) -- my preferred size for JC skirts is 2P, when the item is offered in Petites, 0 when offered in Regular only. This item in a 2P was too tight in the waist for me. My measuring tape shows the waist at something like, 13.5", which is different than my standard 14". I'm squished in there, uncomfortable, and I can't even imagine how the item might feel after lunch or dinner. Sizing up to a 4P would add too much room in the fabric, a common problem I have w/ JC in terms of waist/hip ratio.
I'm going to take this skirt to a tailor to ask whether it's possible to move the top 2 buttons, including 1 at the waist. The construction seems to lend itself to this at these seems to be room to move the buttons. I hope this works because this is a really nice skirt for office, etc. HTH!
Madewell review - Bell-Sleeve Top F6886. This has been sold out online in most sizes for awhile. I got lucky and got a pop back, I totally understand why it's been so popular! Super cute top that's on trend, the bell portion of the sleeve isn't too exaggerated and I like its a bracelet length (so the bell doesn't get in the way). I took my usual XS, maybe a touch too tight in the shoulders but otherwise perfect. Highly recommend!
ReplyDeleteCambridge cable Chunky Turtleneck and Cambridge Cable turtleneck
ReplyDeleteI ordered both in black, XS. Often I size up in sweaters for the length. These are fitted but the length hits my low hip and they're not boxy the way last year's turtleneck in wool cashmere blend is. Slightly thick but soft wool (blend) nice weight. I have a crew neck and vneck from years ago and these are definitely thicker. Not sure if I will keep both, but my black turtlenecks are what I most often reach for. (I notice these say 5 gauge and the crew neck says 3 gauge so maybe that's the difference in thickness).
Double breasted coat in Oxford check: I tried this on in store last week and fell in love, but at home I notice more details. (And read details from "sartorial choices" on IG.) some don't bother me so much, like the white stitching instead of olive, but it does stand out a bit. For sure the lining in thinner than my other Jcrew coats. For me the size feels different than in store, and the flap pockets are too high for me to use. There are small side pockets but they are not deep enough for my hands. Granted, I wouldn't expect to wear this coat walking long distances or being outside for long periods of time. I think I'd still need to size up or get a tall for the length. The shape doesn't bother me, it's not very a-line on me, maybe because my shoulders are sort of broad so it balances out—it just feels pretty straight to me. I'll keep checking for popbacks in tall. I much prefer my coats a little looser so no matter what I'd size up or get a tall.
Lena leather pumps with patent cap toe: my regular Gemma size squishes my toes a bit, 1/2 size up my heel is slipping a little but they feel more comfortable. I think for a shoe like this I'm better off sizing up and putting a heel pad in place. They're a splurge for me and I know there are a few other heels this season I love that might be more comfortable, but the cap toe is so classic.
Oh, the wool on the Oxford check is a little scratchy, but as far as I know it is 100% wool.
DeleteI reviewed the Icon Trench coat in Plaid a few days ago here on my blog. Also included are pics of the Lucite heels in Velvet.
