This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
A few sneak previews here.

ReplyDeletedidn't see anything in the new promo that I had to have....and the three things I like were not on sale.
Wow, that looks dismal. I have a feeling the company won't survive. It's a combination of changing times, and its inability to put out an exciting, consistent product.
Deletelooks like (or reads like) we are done for.
DeleteNew arrivals are up & a new promo. 25% off select spring styles, but not all new arrivals.
ReplyDeleteYou can still use GETSHOPPING for 20% off thru 11:59 PST. It's working on new arrivals & working on the sunglasses, which have been excluded.
Free shipping on all orders currently in effect.
I tried a few new arrivals yesterday: gingham Tippi (love, TTS but not navy), linen-merino v-neck (love this one too. I recommend to size down if you don't plan to layer, sleeves are quite skinny); Billie demi-boot crop in white (didn't like, very high waisted and cropped but tts) and the perfect shirt in embroidered dot (I sized one up because I recently cracked my favorite one in the back but it was very big so I would stick to your regular size). Pics on my Insta (crazyaboutjcrew). Happy shopping!
ReplyDeleteMadewell's Sorbonne dress: I’ve been looking for a comfortable black dress, and after trying the Sorbonne, I'm still looking. The scoopneck is flattering and the length office-appropriate on 5’3” me. In my usual MW size, however, the sleeves were quite tight (my arms are toned but not unusually large). Sizing up for more ease in the sleeves resulted in a too-loose fit through the body. The heavy fabric is 80% viscose/20% poly with a micro-waffleknit weave. Unlined.
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of new arrival reviews coming up (check me out on instagram too @shoperarach). But here are some other reviews to check out first. HERE
ReplyDeleteSo, I got one of the last pairs of cropped Rayner jeans in blue. They arrive and I tried them on. They fit. And...I'm not sure. Honestly, the high waist and the wideness just really don't do anything for my butt. I look at the photos online, and even the models seem to have pancake rears, so perhaps this is what this style of jeans does. I don't know if I like it or not. Is the cropped wide leg thing going to be a passing fad? Do all cropped pants do this--do nothing for the derriere? I'd be curious if anyone else has noticed a similar thing.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. They kind of remind me of jeans from the 70s--but I think any high waisted jean with a wide leg does something similar, unless the pockets are placed lower on the butt.
DeleteI have two pairs, the Keller and Crescent washes, and I like the style but they're definitely not the most butt flattering jeans!
I ordered the McGuire columbier skirt, in spite of the very poor reviews of it running tiny. I am a solid 26, almost always, so I ordered a 27 and I love this little skirt! It is adorable and so comfortable, due to the stretch. It's a sweet little a-line, button down, denim skirt, 17", so a couple inches above my knees (I'm 5'2"). Because of the stretch and because it already sits at the waist, it does not slip. It does DEFINITELY run small; my usual 26 would have pulled and looked bad, but I only sized up one and it is totally fine, even at my non-waisted waist. Some reviews say size up two, and that would probably work too due to the stretch in the fabric.
ReplyDelete(The caveat here is that I love stretch denim, and I know lots of people are done with that (or never liked it in the first place). I have never found 100% cotton denim comfortable enough to wear. In fact, the first pair of jeans I bought was well into my college years, and I had only one pair until into my late 20s when the stretchy soft denim came out, and this is the only kind I will wear. And now I wear denim almost every day.)
I got my latest order including the:
ReplyDelete-Teddie in sailor stripe. Size 00 which I took in the other teddies was sold out so I got the 0. They are loose at the top but pull across the hips. So I'm not sure if the fit is right, although they're really cute. I opened the pockets to see if that helps, but it just may be that the cut doesn't work for me.
-point sur x rocker Stevie or whatever they're called. Ordered 25 which is my usual jean size. These fit perfectly (tight) but I think they would stretch a bit since they are all cotton, or at least feel like it. At first glance I loved them but I'm not sure I can pull this super high waist and cropped flare trend off at 46.
-patio pant in bi stretch cotton for $24.99. I tried these on when they were full price and wasn't wowed, but the fabric is better for spring and for the price, with gladiator sandals I think they are a good look for me.
- military trench coat, size 0. I'm usually a 2 in blazers and a 4/6 in coats but this popped back in a 0. It just fits. I LOVE the color and the cotton. Buttoned all the way it feels a little tight, but if I just tie it, other than the sleeves maybe being a tiny bit short, and the waist a little high, it's really nice. This color is so much more flattering than the usual tan on me, I wish they'd do more in this color.
-faux leather pleated mini skirt in black, 00. Both the 00 and the 0 fit and I like it a little higher on the waist. The length is actually a little long for a mini skirt. I really like the material. If the style works, it's a great price right now.
The teddies are definitely not navy stripe as mentioned. To my eyes the stripe is black, and my black lace up sandals looked fine with them. If they are navy it's the darkest navy I've ever seen.
DeletePosted a pic of the Point Sur Stevie X rocker jeans on my IG @wearthislikethis. They are tight but I thought they had potential as dress up jeans, however my 18 year old daughter disagreed. However, she did really like the faux leather pleated skirt. (Which I unfortunately need to exchange as there is no eye on the hook and eye closure!)
DeleteSorry for so many "howevers."
DeleteI went to a store yesterday but new arrivals weren't out unfortunately. I did buy the New Balance 696 for women in Navy Salmon. Love the colours on these and they seem very comfortable. I took my usual size. IMO Jcrew has the best colours for New Balance.
ReplyDeleteLaila wedges in suede- wow sizing was crazy on these. I'm almost always a size 9 in Jcrew shoes but these were very long and narrow. The 8 1/2 were still a bit too big, my foot flip flopped some. The 8 was a bit snug across the toes but better in the footbed although a bit narrow for me. I never wear an 8 so I was shocked with sizing on these. I liked them for the style but not sure either size would work too well for me.
