This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopped
by a J.Crew store this past weekend
to see what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS
{sigh!} in person, maybe you
might be willing to
share that with us in this post. In
particular, if you could share
with us a few of the noteworthy items
that are available, at what
prices, and potential sizes the
store is carrying (as well as the
store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also, please
let us know if your local store
was/ is carrying an additional
percent off sale. Thanks in
advance!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI visited on Saturday. The sale section was an additional 40% off. I got the Pixies in grey colour this time (I have black and navy) and hope to stop here. :)
The December sneak previews here. The new stock will be in store on Tuesday, I was told.
Yes the pixies were a great price! I picked them up in the dark green. The quality is not as good as it was several years ago, but they're still one of my go to pants.

What did everyone think of the December style guide? I was a little underwhelmed, but I've always felt like that the past year or two now since J.Crew has toned down their styling, *yawn*; I prefer seeing the entire merchandise after it's rolled out online.
ReplyDeleteOne question, what are your thoughts on the pleated midi skirt in gold? I am mildly interested because two months ago I saw Gucci made it for their resort '16 collection, seen here on Alexa Chung:
http://www.manrepeller.com/best_of_internet/alexa-chung-style-skirt.html
It's a daring piece to wear. I'm not even sure if I can pull the style off because it might not even be offered in petite.. And, I don't want to appear too Studio54.
I think that skirt is fantastic.
DeleteI totally agree with you re: the style guide. I looked at it over breakfast yesterday morning, and I was so underwhelmed and bored. How many plaid shirts can one look at before one falls asleep? (and, the colors have gotten really strange -- like they don't even match themselves). I appreciate the need for classics and basics, but there needs to be a little more mixed in there. The basics did not look luxe at all and the rest was just same old, same old. I appreciate a great cashmere sweater or a nice blazer, but nothing has great lines or yummy material.
ReplyDeleteWith regard to the gold skirt--It's not my personal style (I am really not a fan of the pleated midi). I think I would like it much more in a muted metallic and without pleats. The metallic seems really, really aggressive on that one! But, if you love it, rock it! It's definitely a stand out piece and 'tis the season for something like that. Add a hot heel and a silk top and it could be quite a pretty outfit.
I, too, will have to wait to see everything online, but based on the style guide and the Pinterest images, there's not a whole lot I have to have.
Muted metallic sounds like a better idea Nah, I probably would look cray with that skirt on.
DeleteI can't wait to see the new stuff tonight...I'm hoping they'll do a 30% promo instead of 25%...
New arrivals online tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteSadly no trip for me, but I am sharing a little bit of style inspiration via J.Crew on my blog today. I've added my own personal twist for a less spendy version of the look here: J.Crew Looks We Love... Shop It - The Real Deal or The Real Steal.
ReplyDeleteThis is the "second installment" in this series, and for those who missed the first one, it can be seen here.
I believe they will be on line tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAs for the style guide...I am also hoping the whole roll out tomorrow has some good pieces in it. The guide IMO is up there for the the worst ever (because this is the holiday guide...it should knock our socks off with us wanting everything in every color) or at least that what I always found it before. For me (a JCrew jewelley fan I am diappointed. Purses as well....But I do like the zipper trench and the grey marties...just not with yellow or pink.
I liked the December style guide (mainly the outdoor shots), but didn't feel that anything was a must-have. Quite a few of the items are already on the website, and I also own similar pieces. With the new items that caught my eye, I'm wary of the quality, especially in sweaters.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think this is going to be another lull for JC while they try to recapture some of their glory days. I've got the basics, but the revamped "classics" they're selling now are not quite living up in terms of design or quality (if online reviews are any indication). That being said, there will be another Holiday catalog this season so you never know!
one more holiday guide.....thank goodness,
DeleteI like the December style guide, too. There are several items I wouldn't mind having, but like silver_lining, nothing is really too much of a must-have for me. I also agree that even though they seem to be trying to recapture the J.Crew classics, the quality is definitely not the same as in the 'days of yore'.
Deleteyep, as someone on here has said before, the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about it the huge downward slide in quality. With lots of companies, not just JC, but it hurts the most with JC because they used to just have amazing quality for the price! Items that were so well made and wore SO well over time. Where did they go?? I have a Gap navy blue wool car coat I was wearing yesterday and marveling at the quality: beautiful shaping thru the waist, zero pilling/showing wear in the fabric, great quality buttons that are sewn on well (!) and so on. Why don't items like this exist anymore -- at JC, gap, or anywhere else?
Deleteand I meant to mention the tag in that coat says 2007!
DeleteI agree that quality is still an issue but I was pretty excited about the December style guide. I thought the shots were quite beautiful and classic. I'm a big fan of the various versions of the Elsie shoes and was taken with both the plaid D'Orsay and Woven Metallic versions. Hopeful that the striped turtleneck will come in a range of colors and interested to see the Sparkle Campbell Blazer. Got an email with my rewards just now - nice timing!
ReplyDeleteWhy oh why do I not get their catalogs consistently? I've been waiting with anticipation for first Fall then holiday and received neither, hmph. Bad JCrew!
ReplyDeleteNew stuff is being unpacked. I just bought the plaid scarf with the pom poms in both colors. Couldn't decide so I bought them both. No shame!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing that pom-pom scarf, IRL.
DeleteShopped online. Re-ordered the donegal wool pencil skirt to save $20 (I paid $82 and now it's $62 and not final sale).
ReplyDeleteThe disappearance of final sale convinced me to try the collection jacquard textured dress, item item E0173, in dustry seaglass (pale pastel mint) - saw it at the store and it looks just darling. It's a-line, with sort of a 60s vibe. It's expensive, and poly/silk/nylon, so I don't have high hopes but it will be fun to try.
I also am trying the the micropleated midi in pesto - another favorite color of mine. Love my greens. Normally those drop waist skirts look hideous on me but love pleated skirts and the dropped waist elminates bulk, so figured I'd give it a shot!
Just saw now that they've added the Colette d'orsay mermaid glitter heels to the sale rack - trying to resist them....
I too tried to save $20 by returning a skirt. The adventure is described here.
DeleteJust reading that makes me want to go out of my mind...
Delete@ FlowerPower, if you can avoid a whackadoodle SA, the skirt would be $54 with store promo of 40% off. I've had stores adjust the online purchase to match store pricing with no problems. Good luck!
DeleteI have that micro pleated midi in navy and LOVE it. Hope it works out for you!!

ReplyDeleteI did go by my local store and picked up a pair of the gold D'orsay tassel loafer on sale and additional 50% off. I bought the silver back in the spring and really wanted the gold. They were somewhere around $50.00. I was going to try and get a pair at the clearance store ( they had lots of silver when I was there one time) but decided to go ahead.
ReplyDeleteWent to the Southlake location but only for returns and price adjustments. Most of my shopping (90% or more) is online. Not by choice, but the store selection is so limited. I received the December style guide, and I'll stick with my usual MO of wish-listing & waiting for a sale. What I wanted from August & September releases has already gone on sale (i.e. Donegal wool pencil skirt in green and houndstooth tweed pencil skirt. Less than $50 each with 40% + 15%). I rarely have any "must haves" that I'd pay full price for & this roll out is no exception. Can't wait to see what others decide to pick up with the new roll out.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like rewards are on the way. I just got an email with my amount earned.
ReplyDeleteI got my rewards email this morning.
DeleteOT..Jenna is on the Canadian tv show "The Social " this Wed. C
ReplyDeleteI also got an invitation to meet her for cocktails at the Bloor Store. A bit random as I haven't shopped there in a while. Probably a blast email. Requested an RSVP.
Deleteare you going? wonder if she will come out to the west coast?
DeleteMy senses tell me J Crew is testing the waters for Jenna up here in Canada as I feel we all know how much more expensive J Crew just became for us.
wonder what the reception for her will be ? please do report back if you go...I will watch her on TV. thanks C
