This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!

Last winter/early Spring I got the ludlow pant with sequin stripe. It's a deep gray straight leg, ankle length trouser with a long rise, worn low. The sequin is deep gold and the stripes are very dark/muted navy and brown.
ReplyDeleteI have a difficult time styling the pants. I love them with leopard pumps, similar to what's shown on the model, but the tops are difficult. Tonight I wore it with an ivory drapey tuxedo blouse but felt the need to wear a blazer. I don't have a perfectly matching blazer but do have a similar colored schoolboy with gold buttons. I don't have a top that matches the side stripe. I was thinking of wearing just a stripe button down with maybe a sweater over it? And trying to forget a blazer. Thoughts ?

Did that also come in a skirt style?
DeleteIf it is, then the model for the skirt was wearing light blue button down with blue heels.
that's pretty much what the model in the pants was wearing too, but with leopard heels. It just feels like it's incomplete, but because the pants are so busy I also don't want to overdo it.
DeleteI have those pants. Maroon-colored or mustard sweater/shirt on top looks great
DeleteYeah, like Ema I love a burgundy colored cardigan with those types of colors and it's a nice alternative to a blazer.
DeleteI wore the sequin tuxedo stripe Ludlows with an old, sequin Collection blazer. It was at nite and the outfit didn't necessary "match," but the pieces went together. The pants are very traditional, straight on. The sides are a surprise. Don't worry about basing your whole look around trying to match the stripe. It will free you up. They're great pants.
Delete...you can see my outfit in this post. Scroll down to last 2 pictures.
DeleteThat's kind of what I was going for. Pretty much just styling the pants as if they didn't have the stripe. I ordered a double breasted blazer that may match the wool--if it works that would be a good piece to wear over a simple top. Thanks for the tips!

I'm styling the Regent topcoat in Black Watch Tartan on my blog today. Took my normal coat size in this. Fits very nicely. I like all of the gold button details, and it has a nice weight to the fabric. I normally buy my J.Crew coats after Christmas, but I know this one will sell out by then.
