This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.
If
you have recently experienced a
frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe
you might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Please
feel free to share your story on almost
any topic— including poor experiences with
purchases & orders, promotions/ offers,
in-store visits, transactions with store
associates, etc.
OT: Free Shipping on ALL orders today. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, there are a lot of non-FS popbacks out there that aren't showing up in the main search page...search by keywords.
ReplyDeleteSomeone mentioned that items weren't flagged as final sale on the site, but showed as final sale on the order confirmation page. Order with the possibility of that happening.
DeleteLast night I noticed that a Tippi Sweater I've worn exactly TWICE is pilling already. I'm going to contact them and see if I have any return options, but I'm kind of doubtful since I bought it way back in July.. I may have to suck it up and buy a sweater shaver. I definitely expect better from an $80 sweater.
ReplyDeleteAlso, price hikes-- noticed the other day that Pixie pants are now $98, when I'm pretty sure they were $88 less than six months ago.
It's depressing that all my complaints are ones I've read here before. =\
I have a particular store that I love; last night's experience was totally disappointing and I'm wondering where to direct my complaint.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I was looking for a particular necklace that I had seen last week (still don't know the name - it isn't on the website anymore). I looked around but couldn't find it in the cases or on the tables. I described the necklace to a SA; he asked if it was on sale. I said, "I don't know, maybe?" He said my best bet was to check the sale section (but didn't walk me there, help me look, etc. - mind you, the store was completely empty aside from one or two other shoppers). It wasn't there. I eventually found the necklace (along with two dozen more just like it) on a rack back on the main floor, footsteps from where I had approached the SA. At this point he was fixing the jewelry display cases with another SA, laughing and joking.
I ended up getting the no. 2 pencil skirt (wool) in heather pine and the necklace. When I was checking out, the SA (I've never seen her before) shouted "stop, don't do that!" when I went to swipe my debit card. I looked at her quizzically, thinking she had to add in another promotion or something, but she went into her pitch about the J.Crew card. I told her that I wasn't interested, which should have been enough to stop her, but she continued. I told her, again, that I wasn't interested and explained that I prefer to use my debit card or Amex for transactions because I don't carry a balance on accounts. She then "explained" that the J.Crew card is a "pay as you go" card (um, no, that would imply it is prepaid) and I could make a payment at the time of purchase to avoid carrying a balance (true, but again, something I'm not interested in), then said, "I speak from experience. My mom would only let me have a J.Crew card if it was a 'pay as you go' card." (Right, like I'm going to take financial advice from someone who has to consult with her mother.) She was really aggressive and I felt very annoyed as I left the store.
The last 4 orders I received were damaged in an obvious way. Where has quality control gone?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I know there's been a lot of love for the new line, but there is nothing I LOVE in it! It's been sad for me! This time last year, I couldn't contain myself!
ReplyDeleteFor me, I needed plain warmer sweaters, so it's been a good line for me, but I can see where there hasn't been a lot that stood out in general. A ton of jewels on tops is how I think of these last two rollouts. If you don't need those, it's a lot of same-old.
DeleteI'm trying to limit myself in the blingy, bejeweled tops department. I like the convertible-collar versions better because they are more versatile.
DeleteHaving lived through the J. Crew "ruffles" phase a few years ago, I know the bejeweled look will "time stamp" Fall 2013 and look dated very quickly.
I emailed a lengthy description of the warehouse sale, not sure you if received it- all I can say after waiting 8 hours to get in - NOT WORTH IT.
ReplyDeleteAnother two complaints, but minor compared to my previous post:
ReplyDelete1) I don't that the No. 2 pencil skirts at factory run shorter the retail versions. Factory is 21.5" long, retail is 23.5" long. I need that extra 2" for a work-appropriate skirt!
2) I also dislike that the return policy for both factory and retail is only 30 days for b&m purchases, 60 days for online purchases. I didn't realize that factory was only 30 days and now I'm stuck with items I no longer want.
WOW, that is a bad experience Denise!
ReplyDeleteA question for Canadian fans: any news on getting style guides? I didn't one in the mail last month. Yesterday, I asked the local VPS and he didn't get one either. He even said the local store would no longer be getting any. Are we getting cut out?
ReplyDeleteBought the neon purple swing sweater, wore it twice, now has a small hole in front (reminds me of the tee shirt issues a few years back). Wrote to CS, any one else have this problem with jc merino, so upset, love the sweater!
