Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. For Canadians and New Yorkers: Joe Fresh has pointy-toed patent leather pumps that are very similar to the Valentinas, but without the crossover/seaming detail on the side. They are totally leather (upper, lining and sole) and retail for $59 CDN - insane compared to the $264 for the Valentinas with the man-made sole! I only saw black and nude (and bought both, then promptly cancelled my back-ordered black Valentinas that I ordered with the 25% off). I wore them all day today and they were quite comfy! Heel height is exactly the same as the Valentinas.

  6. I LOVE Aran sweaters, but the one offered by J. Crew is an acrylic blend, which I don't like. I found this one at Lands' End Canvas. I ordered it last week with the 30% off promotion and I received it in the mail yesterday. It's perfect!

In case anyone is interested in ordering it, please note that it's extremely oversized and will likely not work for smaller women. I'm a J. Crew size large; I ordered a medium, which is my usual Lands' End sweater size. Even the medium is oversized. If I wanted a more fitted sweater, I could easily fit a size small.

The center front of the sweater is an open stitch, and it's a heavy, bulky wool (but soft), so most people would probably not wear the sweater on it's own. I ordered the ivory color, and I love how it looks over a bright colored tee.

  9. I absolutely could not resist the Boden embellished cardigan for $109 dollars (limited edition). It is so cute. I have never ordered from Boden before, so let's hope it fits and works out!

  10. Since J.Crew sells lipstick this may be somewhat on-topic... Jane Iredale has released their 2011 holiday collection and the Chocoholicks lip set is absolutely fabulous! I'm giving one away, and also aSugar&Butter lip exfoliator/plumper. Details and entry info on my blog.

  11. Just reviewed a cute purple cardigan from Banana. It's definitely brighter than J.Crew's purple this year.
    See here.

  12. Many of the Missoni for Target items have been restocked. The ballet flats are available in a couple sizes, and I bought silk scarves and the loop pillows.

  13. Looks like Ann Taylor is having $25 off your purchase of $50 or more today to make up for their site crashing on Cyber Monday. No free shipping, but at least it is something. Code word is "SPECIAL".

Code ends Friday, December 2nd at 11:59 PST.

Anyone know how AT sweaters are? I love their pants and skirts for work..but always hesitate on the sweaters I see...
