Bye Final Sale, Hello Fall Sale! {it's back!}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Closet Crisis (in this post) & Irina, who let us know about an update to JCrew.com.

Well it is officially Fall, as J.Crew changed their {dreaded} Final Sale to Fall Sale online (click here). They also updated the section early this morning, with what looked like several new-to-sale items.

Did you check out the Fall Sale section today? Were you able to snag any amazing deals? If so, please share! :)

  1. YAY for Fall Sale!!! I am really glad to see Final Sale gone (at least for the time being). :)

There are a lot of full-price items on promo right now, too. I've noted many of them in this post.

  2. Peace out, Final Sale!

Just an FYI for those JCA's not in the know, it usually comes back a day or two before Christmas - don't want you to be taken by surprise.

  3. What? Right before Christmas? That's poppycock.

  4. I know - the first year they did that I had given some JC gift cards as Christmas gifts and felt terrible when their option for shopping on Christmas day was Final Sale! I really hope they don't do that again this year.

  5. silver_lining,

I know. The same thing happened to me and the friends I gave the cards to do NOT have stores close by so I won't be making that mistake again. I mean it just seems cruel to give a final sale gift. Yes, I know there are regular priced items but who doesn't like a sale!

Ironically, I gave up on final sale yesterday and finished my Christmas shopping. I mean I have over 30 gifts to buy and wrap and be ready for Thanksgiving for my side of the family. I feel good that I bought some accessories for my sister that I know will works a LONG time ago as she always likes J.Crew.

  6. Pathos,

Love your choice of words. Poppycock is right to bring final sale back a day or two before Christmas. I think this year they need to hold out longer. As is they held onto final sale longer this fall so why not give customers who get gift cards at least a day or two AFTER Christmas to make a purchase.

  7. Some of the items are still showing as "final sale" when you click through to a size and colour selection (see for example the Minnie pants with the hip zipper). I wonder what's going on?

  8. Finally!!! There is one item I've really loved, but it's only online, and I wasn't willing to chance not liking it. It popped back this morning and I ordered.

  9. Slightly off topic but if anyone has seen the cashmere v-neck in bright dahlia, size Small in their local B & M, can you please let me know so I can do a charge/send? It popped back yesterday morning but I was in such a rush to get my daughter to her art class, I decided to wait until I got back and of course it sold out. Bah! Anyway, if anyone sees it, I would be so grateful. My email is loulou7329 at hotmail dot com. TIA!!!

  10. I've taken to scanning the entire sale section, without 1st selecting categories, since items in SALE often miss the categories they clearly belong in. Anyone notice this?

Grabbed the Telegraph Jacket in Wool Flannel 50174 in charcoal; love the mandarin collar and 3/4 sleeves and think it will even work with slim denim pants and heels. Also picked up the Herringbone Vest 50069; incredibly versatile but not at full price.

    Happy hunting, all!

  11. And of course the two things I had in my cart were still final sale. So, no purchases for me.

  12. OK, so now, update the sale section...it's been the same old same old for months now!

  13. When oh when will they have an outerwear promo? I've been so patient, but I really need a coat and I don't want to pay $300 for it!

    ReplyDelete
  14. The website is down... can't they do anything right? Haha, oh well. I don't need anything anyway...

    ReplyDelete
  15. What gives with some items still being final sale? Although overall I'm glad final sale is gone (at least for a month maybe).

  16. There is nothing exciting in the Fall Sale..disappointing for sure. Seems there is less than what the Final Sale had. Patiently waiting for the Holiday and December catalog to come out so I can really buckle down and gift shop.

  17. Still holding out for a 30 off promo. Bring it on, JCrew!

  18. ugh, i have already started on xmas shopping, and added a sale item as a ridealong. are gift receipts also subject to the 60 day internet purchase window? "Requests to exchange merchandise received as a gift must be accompanied by a gift receipt" is tacked onto the end of the policy, but doesn't directly reference any timeframe.

  19. I see another % off promo in the not so distant future. :D

  20. Professor -- I picked up the Herringbone Vest in the last promo. I'm impressed, probably the best quality piece I've had from JC in a long time. Tell me, though, what will you wear it with? I can only think of a white t-shirt and jeans!

  21. So happy FS is over! Also wanted to say that I just came from my B&M and the Hacking jacket is still on secret sale for $125 in herringbone only. Exchanged my forest tweed Schoolboy blazer for the grey herringbone Hacking and I'm liking the fit and style so much better, plus I got some money back too! :)

Now if only the Siren dress would get marked down, I'd be the happiest JC customer in existence. I know it's only November but I must have it for NYE!

  22. OT -- but there's a size S crest sweater on ebay for $33.50 BIN right now -- the gray one with ivory stripes and yellow/ochre crest! I have this one and love it. Think it's from Paris catalog?

  23. Clicquot:
Delighted to hear the vest is high quality, thanks!

I'll wear it with pencil skirts (sweater on top or white/black shirt and man's tie with pearls draping over the tie), and it fits with the 40's look of the Hutton pants, with a silk blouse—contrasting by offering a fitted look on top worn with pants that are wider and flowing. Definitely wearing it with jeans, skinny type.

Let us know what else you come up with!

  25. Can I have some opinions on this year's Dream cardigan? I know in years past there have been major pilling issues. Has the quality improved this year? What is the fit like? I'm pretty small (5', 100 lbs).

    ReplyDelete
  26. Has anyone seen the Metallic Foil Jacquard top in stores for less than the online price ($69.99)? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  27. @ Caroline: the Metallic foil jacquard top is $54.99 (at least I'm pretty sure that's the price) and there are quite a few of them at Tysons Galleria, VA.

  28. happy to hear that final sale is over, waiting for a restock

  29. Ali, I just bought a dream cardi in XS and I think it would fit you or u could try XXS if they make it. I'm 5'6 and 135 and med bust and the XS fits buy just. I plan to wear it for the first time tomorw so cant comment on pilling or shedding yet but I suspect it will.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dagmara: thanks for the input! What color did you buy it in? Please let me know if you experience lots of pilling! I can deal with shedding.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I bought it in heather aqua. Up close the yarn has lots of colors in it but my computer screen made it look like it was pale/sky blue when in fact it is a minty sort of aqua. It's got a flattering fit, not boxy and the perfect length imo neither too short nor long.

  32. Professor, I was considering the Telegraph jacket and may bite now that it's not final sale. Have you seen it IRL? Do you know anything about the weight of the wool?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Desert flower, I have seen the telegraph jacket. The wool is medium-weight. The jacket runs snug, so you may need to size up. I think DaniBP did a review of it on her blog awhile back.

I placed an order of a bunch of stuff I was eyeing since FS went away, too!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ali, one last thing, I actually think it will hold up where pilling is concerned. I mean, every sweater pills a bit. The worst one for pilling is the Betsy sweater.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Professor and Cliquot - How is the sizing on the Herringbone Vest? You've piqued my interest. Now I want one.
