J.Crew Fall/ Holiday 2011 Fashion Event in NYC

It is that time of year again... the Crew's Holiday Party Time! {Although in my head, I am singing it to the tune of "Peanut Butter Jelly Time".}

"Thanks!" to Dara (in this & this post) who let us know the following:
On a semi-related topic, just received my invitation to the NYC holiday party. First off, it's at the Fifth Avenue store this year instead of Madison Avenue Collection, presumably because the Fifth Avenue store was just renovated. Excited about this since the Fifth Avenue store is much closer to where I live and a bigger store means way more merchandise to choose from. Second, it seems Jenna won't be in attendance this year which I find strange (and frustrating because I left just before she arrived the last 3 years in a row!) Tom Mora and Frank Muytjens are hosting.
This event will take place this evening (although I am not sure what time it starts).

For those who attend, please share the details of this event with us! Who was there, who wore what, and all the other good stuff! :)

  1. This sound like so much fun! Thanks for posting and look forward to hearing about the event from the lucky ones who are going. :)

    OT, big update on website this morning! New styles added in many sections. See my post here for skirt updates. Happy shopping! :)

  2. I was just at my local B&M store last night and unfortunately, it did not look or feel anything like this picture. It felt drab and lack-luster to say the least.
    Jealous, in a good way, of those who get to visit the NYC stores.

  3. Just got back from the party. Everything was merchandised beautifully and the sales associates could not have been more friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was no free gift this year! I asked the sales associate at the register about it and she was not aware that they had done it in past years when the party was held at the collection store. I was so looking forward to another fabulous jewelry freebie, but still very, very happy with the items I found. Bought the Blouson dress in polka dot and an absolutely fantastic pencil skirt I have not yet seen online. It's a plaid print with red, grey, black and tan in it with a big bow in front, similar in style to a summer '09 skirt I used to have. I don't know what it is about the color combination but it could totally go with black or brown tones depending on how you pair it and would look amazing either way. Very versatile. I also tried on the Fairisle leggings I've been coveting. Sadly they were way too big on me but sooooo so cute. Just noticed that they come in XXS online so I may have to order them...

    All in all, it was a really nice event. There were associates everywhere just waiting to bend over backwards for you, and all the merchandise was presented as enticingly as possible. Enjoyed my little pink cocktail too ;)

    Didn't see Frank or Tom... not sure if they arrived after I left (like the last 3 years when I just missed Jenna) or if I'm oblivious, which is entirely possible since I was distracted by all the pretty clothes.

  5. Dara, did you happen to see what the associates were wearing? I would think they were dressed to impress, any interesting outfit ideas? Glad you got that skirt and with 20% off! I've beeing eying it at my store for a week already but too pricey.

  6. Jcrewobsession, no one outfit jumped out at me, although I did see a lot of blazers layered over sweaters and a lot of color. Actually, now that I'm thinking of it, the sales associate Lydia who helped me had on a gorgeous gold sequined sweater, and Tyra in the fitting room had on the liquid silk skirt in bright dahlia paired with a blazer - they both looked fabulous :)
