As many of you mentioned during J.Crew's latest arrivals, there is a new feature (click here) showcasing 9 women wearing the New Café Capri (Item 34629; $79.50).
What is lovely about this concept is (1) all the women are associated with J.Crew (like a set designer, personal shopper, etc.); (2) they represent a variety of body shapes; and (3) they share a quote about their unique style.
What are your thoughts on the feature? Would you like to see more of this concept (different ways to wear one item) in future catalogs?
I think that the concept is cute. I'd like to see them try the same thing with the mini skirts!
ReplyDeleteI also think the concept is good, but I also think it shows that the pant is not meant to be worn by everyone. It looks great on certain body types, but not very good on others (such as myself).
ReplyDeletesilver_lining - LOL!
ReplyDeleteFabulous Floriday Mommy, I agree that it makes clear that this is not a pant that looks good on everyone, similar to the Minnie pant that they promote as flattering to every figure type. I'm a stick on the bottom and the Minnie's look horrible on me. I won't even try these.
I like the concept, though I would have appreciated if they'd picked a wider variety of body types. The "models" they used are all pretty slim.
ReplyDeleteI did buy a pair in black last month while I was in Florida and liked them. I had originally wanted Minnies but they just aren't flattering on me.
I sized down in the Cafe Capris from my usual JC pants, to accommodate for the inevitable stretching out of the fabric. I'll also keep the pockets sewn closed. Considering the khaki colour...it's pretty versatile.
I really like the pants. Haven't tried them on, though. And also, am fairly confident I will be able to catch them on a markdown.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this and hope they do it every month. Great to see all the different sizes, ages and personal styles. While we may not all like the particular piece they chose it does serve as a great blank canvas and I can see some of the styling could work with a different shape khaki colored pant. Maybe a simple cashmere sweater or tee next?
ReplyDeleteIt's always great to see different shapes of women appear on the catalog.
ReplyDeleteThe Minnies didn't work out for me so maybe this could be an alternative to the skinny style. I'm in need of the khaki color in my wardrobe so I'd love to try them on if I make it to the store sometime this week.
