Madewell Email: The Tee You'll Live In {I don't know...}

Madewell sent an email featuring their Striped Drawstring Tee ($38).

They are also reminding us that (1) we can check out their Spring looks (click here); and (2) Madewell is offering 15% off all purchases with the printable coupon found here on their Facebook page. This offer expires 2/28/08.

Although I have not seen this tee in person, I am not sure if I am a fan of the drawstring action that is going on there. Also, $38 seems like a lot of money for this cotton t-shirt. ;) Is it just me, or does this shirt look more like something that Delia*s would offer (and for a lot less). :)

What are your thoughts on Madewell's Striped Drawstring Tee? Are you a fan of the draw string style? :)

  1. I might be the exception here, but I've loved the Madewell collections in previous seasons. But.. not so impressed this go-round. This tee will not flatter many people. The pocket is SO awkwardly placed! And the drawstring just doesn't appeal to me.

    This is my first post- Alexis, love the blog! I was so happy to find fellow J Crew addicts like myself.

  5. Just a marketing technique to make you think you need this new concept/idea t-shirt.

  6. Madewell also sent an email yesterday that they are opening a new store at 329 Newbury in Boston on Feb. 17.

  7. I'm not a fan of drawstrings in general, especially not on tees.

  8. i like the style of the shirt (i like how easy to wear gathered shirts are), but would definitely not buy one with those jail-house-type stripes going across.

  9. Preppy Sue, I'm super excited about the Boston store and plan to make a trip opening day! I'm sure there have been posts about Madewell since its inception but I'd love to hear people's take on it.

  10. I don't like the drawstring. It also looks like it's got cap sleeves, which make my arms look fat. Pass.

  11. not terrible, but not $38. The pocket could look interesting...as in bad interesting. i'm ok with the drawstring, left undone. cinched at the waist would be odd to me.

  12. I actually have this tee - I bought it last week. It's really cute! I can post pictures of it on my blog for anyone who's interested.

  13. the drawstring has to be the least flattering thing ever! i like t-shirts that bring attention to my hourglass figure, not cover it up. maybe on a tall, cameron diaz type figure it would look good.
