Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of what's left (if anything) in the winter sale or to see some new Spring/ Resort arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I sure hope I don't go into JC this weekend. I am trying to join the shopping ban club. During the week I only purchased a belt from BR and another Lea sweater online from JC. Last weekends damage should be enough to tide me over. For those that do get out please have fun for me! Happy Friday to all!

  2. No...everything in the store is so boring...I really want to buy stuff, but no matter where I look, Jcrew just doesn't have anything I'm interested right now.

  6. BR had a promo in Canada today (Thursday) 30% ALL full-priced merchandise. I only bought 3 items but saved quite a bit so that was nice. No J.Crew stores here so I won't be visiting but I look forward to hearing about what others find.

  7. I hate this season's colors, but I think I'll try on a few things for fit at least- maybe I'll be able to find something from a different season (and better colors, and cheaper...) on ebay. I have to go to JC for a return anyways- otherwise I wouldn't even bother.

  8. I love the new pastels, but it isn't nearly warm enough to buy spring clothes here, and I've already spent too much this winter!

That being said, I did pull the trigger on a cashmere heirloom henley in snow, 2 long sleeve perfect v necks, and a pair of bistro pants; with 20% off + student discount it was a good deal, although I did feel a bit guilty!

I have both the cashmere henely and VT's in other colors; the ts are great year-round basics, and I love my spearmint heirloom henley so much that I couldnt resist another.

I am excited for it to get warmer, so I can ogle spring stuff (by that time they will be putting out fall catalogs, lol)!

  9. PS- Reading this blog (and makeupalley's fashion board) has tripled my clothing expenditure for the season!! (a guesstimate, but probably on the conservative side!)

  10. I found a manager to be quite snotty tonight. Uninformed about styles and rude to her employees. What's with people in that role? Kind of funny...you're a manager. Wouldn't it be aweseome if the CEO caught this in person?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I checked out my local B&M tonight and tried some of the new arrivals, I posted a bit on my blog if anyone wants some real life pics.

I really am trying to hold out for deals on things that really work for me and will last more than a season, so I didn't buy anything tonight, trying to see what lingers in my mind for the sale!

  12. Are people still finding J Crew at TJ Maxx? Far as I know it never made it out here to the Bay Area - but if stores are still getting shipments, it would be worth it to go back and take a look.

    ReplyDelete
  13. OT - I found Cashmere heirloom henley in putty restocked at final sales section. 3 henleys in Large are available now.

  14. The Rumpled French Terry Sweater appeared to be really comfy and soft in person. I would love one for around the house. I have to think it over.

  15. i'm hoping to find the organza pencil skirts in the stores...has anyone seen them in any of the boston area stores?? oh i remember seeing the short sleeve v neck cardigans awhile back in the stores...has anyone seen these too? im kicking myself for not picking up on in bright tangerine...

  16. No trip to the store this weekend or for several weekends. I am on a shopping ban for the Lent season. The blah March arrivals are making this too easy! May need to give up sweets as well for a challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Banana Rep. has 30% off all their pants AND an extra 10% off that for cardholders! I am going there today:)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I just went this past Wednesday, so I don't plan to go back. The store did not have any additional % off of Sale when I was there, either.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Not going this weekend. Appreciate everyone who went through the trouble of updating us on the new rollout and catalog photos, that was all I needed. I did snag the snow leopard cardi I was coveting in S for the 10 sec it was available in the Thur re-stock, 39.99 w the 20%. I know, I know, it's a return and probably worn. I can't get too worked up over it, because I will most likely be getting my cancellation email on Sunday anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I haven't been to a B&M in about two weeks now, so I might swing by, but I'm really not that excited about anything. The sale section hasn't been that great lately, and unless the add an extra % off (which it sounds like they haven't) it's not super great prices either :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. I just got the email about "up to 30% off select tees shorts and flip flops...with even more surprises in store" I'm not shopping for Lent, but I wonder if it's worth it to visit to see if I can get a price adjustment on some of my Mardi Gras purchases.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Based on the side info on this blog I thought the extra 20% is till the 28th of Feb, and when I opened the JC site this morning, it is over - I missed it. Did they change the date?

    ReplyDelete
  23. HeidiG - I got that same email... I probably won't head to the stores this weekend, so I'll be curious what these "surprises" are and what stuff they decide to mark 30% off... and yes i've joined the shopping ban club too for a while...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes... The site said until February 28th. I was waiting for the site to update... guess I missed it too! Maybe they'll honor it if we call :(

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anon @ 6:44 am: The email i received on the 24th indicated that the 20% off sale was for 3 days, ending on the 26th. Perhaps, the 28 Feb date is a typo?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anony@6:20

I hope you get your sweater and it is new. It is so hard to know nowadays. One popped up in my size on Wed. but I did not pull the trigger...:)

  27. I've just browsed everyone's blogs. No need to go to the store. :)

Thanks for the great blogs ladies!

  28. 30% off in stores ONLY girls! On SPRING select merch. Just got the email. they have lots of rules that apply in the small wording at the bottom of the email. I am sure this will be posted soon for those that did not get it.

  29. Just got an email from J.Crew--Up to 30% off select tees, shorts, and flip-flops. Starts today, in stores only.

  30. In MD I found a pencil skirt just like the Stretch sateen pencil skirt last weekend. It looks exactly the same with out the buttons on the front. The skirt is in all the same colors as the stretch sateen pencil skirt. However it also comes in Soft Seashell, which was on sale for $29.99.

  31. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I tried to go to the Georgetown (DC) B&M last night, and when I arrived I found the door facing M St. gated and locked, with a small sign that said "closed for a private event". I WAS SO MAD! So, I guess that now, in addition to all of the other silly b.s. that I deal with shopping @ the Crew, I'll be calling stores before going to the trouble of schlepping over to one! Grumble, grumble, grumble...

    ReplyDelete
  32. No JCrew for me this weekend. I finally got the denim pencil skirt I had been coveting and now I feel complete. I think btwn the GWE and the final sale my winter and summer wardrobe has been sufficiently replenished.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I've been on a buying spree since the holiday promos so I'm ready to take a break. I'm not really feeling the latest releases so it's easy to avoid J.Crew for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Does anyone know if the Asheville, NC (Biltmore Village) b&m has anything good? I might be making a trip that way this weekend...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Have any JCAs seen the cotton-linen ottoman Aubrey jacket in natural in their B&Ms? I might have missed my opp. to purchase it online, at least during this most recent 20% off promotion. Wondering if it's worth my while to look for it in stores. I saw tons of them at a DC B&M over Prez's Day weekend but haven't been back since. TIA! And Happy Friday, everyone! :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. jackie from dc -

That happened to me at the Georgetown store, too! It was a few months ago and I had been planning to go all week and was shocked and kinda pissed when I saw the private event sign on the door :( I'd really like to know what on earth they're doing in there. I went to BR instead.

    ReplyDelete
  37. jackie from DC--Wow. That would have really pissed me off as I get a sitter when I go shopping in the evenings b/c my hubby travels so much. That is really poor on JCrew's part not to have it after hours. I wouldn't go back to JCrew just to spite them!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Does anyone know if the chiffon rosette tee, or any of the other applique ringspun tees are on the 30% in-store-only promo?

    ReplyDelete
  39. I went to 2 different B&Ms during the week looking for giraffe shorts and didn't find any. I saw the new arrivals and wasn't impressed. I don't think I will be going to a B&M this weekend.

If anyone sees giraffe shorts in a 2 please let me know. email: emily.perison@yahoo.com

    Thanks

  41. I called the JC at Easton in Columbus this morning to find out exactly what specials they're having. Cashmere tees are $78, some capris are $69, but there is not an additional % off sale items. I hope that helps someone trying to decide whether to make the trip.

  42. So much for my shopping ban!

Merino Melanie Sweaters at 19.99 is just too good to pass up. I'll be wearing them all year round.....

  43. i don't know if anyone here is from the philly area but if any one has stopped by liberty place lately. i would LOVE and appreciate an update of what's in their sale section. i'm thinking about dropping by today after work. thanks so much!

  44. I am going to the Dallas store tomorrow to return my much awaited zebra tee:-( It just doesn't do it for me. It's not white but more of a dirty beige; and the zebra is florecsent-not the pretty coral-y/salmon color I thought it was. I am also returning the harper sweater-I REALLY wanted that sweater and it kind of sucks.

So, I will check out this new promo and see how it goes.....

    ReplyDelete
  45. I have to get this off my chest. It is infuriating to me that the day after a 20% off discount, suddenly, the entire stock is replenished. How do they expect to clear their inventory when they keep playing these games? Also, earlier in the week, I had about $500 worth of items in my cart. When I went to check out, 3 of the items were already sold. I understand "timing out" customers who put things in their cart and never buy but I was still shopping!! I can't believe they spent tons of money to upgrade this online system . . . it really stinks.

    ReplyDelete
  46. In response to PhillyJCA -- you're seeing so much new stock because it hasn't been bought up as fast.

IMO Jcrew replenishes plenty every business day -- it just all goes really fast when there is a % off coupon.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm hoping to find the merino Michelle sweaters on sale in store. Anyone know if they are less than the $69.50 online price? That price does not tempt me. I also wanted to get some more boyfriend tissue vneck tees, but there is such a price discrepancy - I bought them for $19.50 in store last week and they have been $29.50 online the whole time.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anon 3:17 AM:
I've been checking my TJ Maxx virtually everyday this week...I know the employees are sick of seeing me. lol
    Alas, no Jcrew:(

I lucked out a couple of weeks ago(many thanks to this awesome site)& scored 6 spring/summer dresses from last season($17-$19 each) and a pair of sandals dauphine sandals($14):)
No need to buy anything this weekend, I'm ready for Spring!

  49. Is it just me or does the new Atomic Flower necklace look like the old Cloud necklace, rolled in poo? Can someone get me an IRL pic???

NO OFFENSE to anyone who likes it - I have tonnes of stuff NO ONE likes in my closet!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Paper Bag Princess: I am trying to stifle my laughter! It does look like the cloud necklace rolled in poo. And it's just HUGE! I can't imagine what that would look good with and it probably weighs a ton.

Regarding TJ Maxx, it seems like it must have been a one time thing. I'm not seeing any more JCrew at my TJs than what they had a few weeks ago.

I will not be going to JCrew until they have an extra % off sale.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh, Paper Bag Princess, that is such a vivid (and hilarious) description of the atomic necklace! Trying hard not to laugh out loud at work!!! ;-) It reminds me of the dog poo on the sidewalk I avoided stepping on while walking to work... pretty close to the brown color on that necklace! That being said, I do think it could look nice on some people, but it's way too much for me.

Re. The "Spring Break" email... just some tees, shorts and flip flops are NOT enough to get me into the store (plus I was just there Wed, eek). It's still too cold for shorts and flip flops!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. went to my b&m to do a return. (i was also excited to go because of the 30% off spring break e-mail) however, i noticed NOTHING that seemed reduced or marked down that hadnt been earlier in the week... :(

    ReplyDelete
  53. Does anyone know what tees are 30% off? I'm headed to the BM probably Sunday to try on new arrivals

    ReplyDelete
  54. An update on the Grenada palm cami- BUY IT! Even without the 20% off!

It's more narrow in the waist/hips than other silk camis, fits true to size, and is not too billowy. I had to order down in hammered silk tanks to a 4 and they were still blousy, this in a 6 is perfect on me for a fitted style. There is ample room for larger chest. And the print? AMAZING! I immediately tried it on in about 3 different outfits, all with either dark denim or white- it looks great with both. I plan on wearing this year round, with a white sweater in colder weather.

This reminds me that a $120 item that I LOVE is far better than 4-5 cheap sale items that are just ok.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I went to both the Greensboro and Durham stores yesterday (had a road trip) and the sale section is pretty non-existent in both. I tried on the sequin zebra tee in Greensboro. They only had a small left and even though I usually wear a 4 in JC it was a little snug in the chest/underam for my taste. I love the new spring pastels and neutrals. The ruffle scoopneck tee is adorable, but I hate handwashing tee shirts, so I'll have to think about it. The new jersey dresses are great staples and the fabric is really nice. I really need a new cardigan for spring, and I was so sad to see the ruffled ones in real life. They just kind of fell flat for me, like the ruffles were tacked on as an afterthought. Maybe they should have just avoided ruffles this season, because that rolling ruffles tissue tank is just awful in real life. My favorite new item has to be the seaside pants. So relaxed and comfy. I may have to get multiple colors.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Check out the Faille Maisey Jacket- UPS just dropped it off and I love it. I ordered the Dusty Rose in size 6 (my normal suit jacket size) and the fit and color were on point. I have trouble with sleeves being too short and tightness around the shoulders. I was fine with the jacket.

It is light and I think best worn with thin under layers.

    ReplyDelete
  57. i've developed this new policy of not going to j crew unless they have an additional percent off sale...

    ReplyDelete
  58. If anyone comes back with a report on 30% off tees, could you check on the perfect fit mandarin henleys? I missed the 2 for 35$ deal in January, and want to stock up. Thank you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. soon to be PhD

Glad you like the cami and thanks for the info. Still too pricey though for a final sale item for me to chance. Also, I am trying to stay away from dry clean stuff. Anyone else? It costs extra $ that I feel I have to add to the purchase price and is bad for the environment. I have so many JCrew tanks that are dry clean only it is getting out of hand. I don't mind washing even by hand.

--Actions Expected to Generate Approximately $40 Million in Annualized Pre-Tax Savings

NEW YORK, Feb 27, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- J. Crew Group, Inc. (NYSE: JCG) today announced that it has initiated a cost reduction program that is expected to generate approximately $40 million in annualized pre-tax savings. This program is being implemented in response to the challenging economic environment, which is anticipated to continue through the Company's current fiscal year and includes the following key elements:

    * Reduced workforce by approximately 95 positions (including positions that are currently unfilled) primarily in the New York offices and support functions in the field and distribution centers. This represented an approximate 10% reduction in staffing for the departments included. The affected associates have been offered severance and related transition assistance.

    * Suspended the 401(k) Plan Company matching contributions through the balance of 2009.

    * Eliminated 2009 merit based wage increases for the entire workforce.

    * Initiated other company-wide cost reduction programs to produce efficiencies in areas such as supply chain, store operations, real estate, catalog circulation, and other general savings in the New York offices.

Millard Drexler, J. Crew's Chairman and CEO stated: "As we are all aware, we are operating in a very tough economic environment. This has required us to make some difficult decisions, which we do not take lightly, but feel are necessary to ensure we remain competitively positioned over the long term. However, we believe our financial flexibility, our team, and our focus on quality products and the customer will enable us to navigate these turbulent times."

As previously announced, the Company has also lowered its planned capital expenditures for fiscal 2009 to approximately $55-60 million, a decrease of approximately 25% from the projected 2008 level. The Company also expects to incur a pre-tax charge of approximately $1.5 million during the first quarter of fiscal year 2009 mainly to reflect anticipated severance payments and related costs for affected associates.

  62. Just wanted to say that I got yesterday's email subject line "Cardmembers only: sneak a peek at our new arrivals." The email linked to their homepage. Clearly there was no special content for cardmembers! I emailed asking them how this was a "sneak peek" and was told that "This is a sneak peek for those customer who have not been on J. Crew.com lately." I just thought this was hilarious. (In a sad and disappointing way).

  64. NEWS!

Student discount not applicable to Sale items starting since 3-4 days ago. I was told this at my B&M today! (Does anyone else find this true?)

Spring Dots Nicky skirt on sale for $19.99. I saw a size 6 at New Haven, CT. Call now before it's gone!

Spring Dots Nicky skirt for sale by me, size 12, $25. If no one claims by Sunday this is going to be returned!

My ban is going well. My loophole is in the three exceptions. I can't buy new clothes unless they're on my exceptions list. :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Wow. JCrew is really taking away an incentive to shop there.

First, everything is final sale and now if it's on sale, you can't use your student discount.

And on top of that, you can't even get free shipping over the red phone unless it is a full price item.

Way to introduce perks and then slowly take them away when it hurts the bottom line.

    Shame on you, J.Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Anon 2:10:

Seriously! I was flabbergasted when the one perk of being a student was the J.Crew discount. Understandably J.Crew is salvaging their money.

  67. Anon 1:34 -- you should never have to dry clean, even "dry clean only" pieces. The Laundress website is a really good resource for how to care for all kinds of delicate items. I just got an email from them that has a grid of exactly how to care for each kind of fabric -- pre-treatment, wash, ironing, etc. They have a blog too.

I swear I'm not affiliated! I just think they're awesome and I hate dry cleaning; even "green" dry cleaning is not good for the environment.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I really liked the cut and fit of the Maisey jacket, but I had never had anything that was faille before and didn't realize how badly it wrinkled. I ended up returning it, but was majorly bummed

  70. @boston brit: I have had the same complaint before, as I am subscribed to multiple e-mails with J.Crew, but only one is attached to my credit card, yet I get the "cardmembers" e-mail everywhere. I think it is a poor policy on their part.

@Lee - I did not have this issue. I was at my local retail on Tuesday, and used my student discount on sale items with no problem. Maybe that has changed in the past few days though, I don't know.

  72. I would like to ask the JCAs who visited one of the NYC stores today if they have seen the pique pavilion dress. I might go only to try that dress on. If they haven't it I will stay home and save my money for later (I always end up buying something when I visit a store, even if not what I originally planned for). I ask bc I never saw the jersey cabana dress in the stores where I go (Rockefeller, Madison and Time Warner) even if it is not marked as catalog/Jcrew.com only! TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm so uninspired by what's on the website. I may not check back until late august, since I love their fall stuff much more than the rest of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Just go back from my b&m store. Nothing to write home about. Plus the 30% off in store only is UP TO 30% off, so some items were 15% etc. Purchased a few new arrivals just to bring home and try on. Not sure if anything is a keeper yet.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I washed a few of my Jcrew cashmere sweaters (using very specific directions from online) in cold water... and they both shrunk! Has anyone else had this happen?

I don't like dry cleaning either and have hand washed many wool sweaters without issue but I can't afford to ruin anymore cashmere.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I went to a couple Southern CA stores today and there wasn't much to report. South Coast Plaza has a bunch of the ruffle cardigans in pinks and gray and several merino Portland cardigans in smaller sizes. The Brea store had a ton of the Spring Dots Nicky skirts, merino V-neck sweaters, and oodles of bright orange pants. No additional % off, but I did get the sateen skirt that Lesley mentioned in a soft pink for only $29.99 and my student discount!

Oh, and both stores were sold out of the crazy gray beaded zebra tee-shirt...except for the one I returned to Brea in small. It was just too much for me!

    ReplyDelete
  77. jj: What type of soap did you use, the Laundress one that J Crew sells, or something else?.

    ReplyDelete
  78. HeidiG/Starla729 - Thanks for mentioning the "surprises" on the 30% email that I missed. I had quickly skipped over that part and wasn't particularly interested in getting summery items like shorts and flip-flops. It's too cold for that right now even in Northern California.
I may pop in to see what the additional mark-ups are though and will post again if there is anything really interesting. I've already placed 3 separate online orders in just the past 2 months to update my current wardrobe and still look through the JC site even after that. LOL. I just wish they would offer a flat shipping rate for purchases in general.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Guys-the shipping is profit generating for J Crew. They make money on it. The money they make on it, to a certain extent, pays the costs for the 'free' shipping. There is no such thing as free shipping. J Crew has to pay for it, and it has to come from somewhere.

If you live near a store, the smartest thing to do is to order a full priced returnable item along with whatever sale item in order to meet the minimum. People do this with Nordies all the time, as they have a $200.00 minimum for free shipping. If you don't live near a store, you DO have 2 months to return those returnable items, so you can do this several times, and make one big trip with all your returns.

  80. Crew-

I used a tiny bit of woolite, I'm talking a negligible amount. I even pinned and stretched the sweaters while they were drying. They went from a big S to a tiny XS or XXS.

I don't know what I did wrong, but now I'm scared to try again.

I used a plastic tub with cold water and a tiny bit of woolite, put the sweaters in and just barely moved them around a bit, let it sit for a while, put them in a clean cold bin, put them in another clean cold bin, and then laid them flat on a towel to dry. Am I missing something?

    ReplyDelete
  81. I went to the store in Tucson today. They had most of the new catalog items out. There was not much to the sale section. I noticed some shirts and pants were on a a promo price but nothing that made me stop in my tracks.

I did come home with item 13657, the Slub Cotton Ruffle Scoopneck Tee. I've reviewed it over on my blog (click here) along with a real-life picture.

I'm torn about whether to keep it or not. I love the neckline but am not a huge fan of the slub cotton. Please take a look at my review and see the pic and help me decide! I'm really torn.

    ReplyDelete
  82. jj: That should have worked, the only thing I would have done is rolled it in a towel after rinsing, but that she not have made that much of a difference.

I am about to try it on 2 sweaters, now I am scared to try, maybe I will do a test by washing a cuff of a sleeve or something.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Has anyone by chance seen a Merino Portland cardigan in navy in their stores? Possibly at the South Coast Plaza store in CA? My home store had a ton of Navy and they all dissapeared - looking for an XS. Any info is much appreciated!

  84. This month's Vogue (with Michelle Obama) has another mention of JCrew, on the same page featuring Jessica Seinfeld--it says that JCrew's white denim rivals Balenciaga's. I had been eyeing the white denim bootcuts for a while, and I immediately ordered them online. Then yesterday they came out with the matchstick capris (which would be better for me because even the short is too long). I went to the store today to try the matchsticks, but they didn't have them. I noticed that the models in the catalogs now are pinch rolling their jeans, which I did in high school . . . does anyone else who was there in the 80s feel silly doing this now? Also, any general comments on the matchstick fit at the hips/thighs (ie, if a bootcut fits well, will the matchstick be similar)?

  85. Just went to a NYC JC (45th st and Madison)- pretty boring. I thought the sale section would be okay, it was tired looking. I will say that they had some really cute sandals, metallics, and adorable jeweled ones. Also, shorts starting at $29.50 (reg. $39.50). One sale that I loved was the 25% off mini skirts- patterned and metallic. I got the Atomic Floral Reese Mini, and between the 25% off and my student ID discount, I saved $28! I was actually there returning a final sale item, so if there are any hesitant JCAs about final sale, Customer Service is super nice and usually lets people return and exchange items! Have a great weekend everyone!

I KNOW what you mean about the pinch rolling of the jeans in the 80's! Bananarama? i loved that look back then (nu-wave). Now that I am 40, I wonder...do I dare? I think that Jenna is my age and pulls it off...? What is the answer? Anyone? Anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  87. I DO feel silly trying to pull off that rolled up look now. It is EVERYWHERE. But, maybe it should be left for the teenagers and 20 somethings? That is what my instinct says...

Isn't there a fashion rule that says that if you wore it the first time around, you should NOT participate when it comes around again.

    JenG.

    ReplyDelete
  88. JenG - I am not at all a fan of the pinch rolling (or even rolling)jeans. It just seems too "fashion victim" for me. However, I notice that FFM rolls a lot of her jeans and wears with heels. It is not a look that appeals to me. However, she seems to wear it with aplomb. You might look through some of her pictures. That is the great thing about fasion. To each his own!

  89. Wasn't someone looking for the safari serengeti sandals in 9 earlier this week? I just saw a pair on Ebay. Tempting, but I need a 10.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I will only be going for returns. I FINALLY got my color fix when they put the Egyptian cotton V-neck cardigan (reg $88) up on the website in my size in Sapphire, Kelly Green and Bright Papaya for $19.99 each. I bought them all and I am full.

Unless a couple of "key" pieces come back up (which is highly unlikely at this point) I'm done til the next roll-out. If that is as uninspiring to me as this one, I won't be buying then either.

  91. I'm looking for the grey zebra tee? Has anyone seen one at any of the NJ stores?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Jacquelyn,

Of all the items in the new catalog, the Slub Cotton Ruffle Scoopneck Tee is the one I picked as this season's Must Have. I hope to see it IRL today at my B&M, so I'll let you know if I have further comments. The slub cotton is so soft- is your concern that it makes the Tee "casual" wear only?

  94. there's an ivory shimmy dress in size 12, but you have to enter the style no. to see it 99371. Adorable but too short for my tall body, I would be showing way too much thigh. $120

  100. New Haven:

Nicky skirt in Navy size 10 and 4 (maybe others) 19.99
Nicky skirt in the pink color all sizes 19.99
    Wendy striped skirt all sizes
Tons of the shiny dotted pants on sale
    Cotton Embossed halters 69.99
    Cotton Loreleis

The store sells out quickly--even though the Sun-Striped railroad shorts are full priced there are only two left. Also, the Cotton Embossed Halter is out of my size!

I fortunately found this slub cotton tee at my store the day there were put out on the floor. Good luck. Oh, it doesn't qualify for the up to 30% off promo since they consider this tee to be ltd edition, collection piece. Whatever!

  102. Hi all - not sure if anyone is still looking for the giraffe print shorts, but there were many pairs of them at my local B&M when I went today (South Shore Plaza in Braintree, MA).

    ReplyDelete
  103. Thanks Anon @ 11:55. I actually went to the store and did a you find it through the red phone. The rep took my info and said that I'd received an email within two days. The SA at the store said that the tee sold out in three days there and in 20 minutes at another store.

  104. Hi Kate - Only avocado and melon merino portland sweaters at South Coast. They had some short sleeve v neck sweaters in navy, but all XS I think. All their sale sweaters otherwise were in light yellow, pinks, and whites.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Just came from the JC in Manhattan on 5th avenue, sale rack was okay. A ton of Nicky Skirts in the Hot Pink, sizes 2, many size 6, and 10 (unfortunately for me no size 8). And tons of cute fabric belts on sale. I bought a belt, and the cashier was nice enough to give me a coupon for 10% off my next in-store purchase.

  106. What is the obsession with the zebra tee? Even in gray it's just too much! Am I the only one who doesn't like it??

    ReplyDelete
  107. Hi All, I'm looking for the Cotton-slub silk lattice dress. Have any JCAs seen it in a 4 at one of the DC area stores? I've been to Friendship Heights, but I was wondering about Georgetown and Pentagon City. Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. It depends which Zebra tee you are talking about, the $68.00 one is too much, the slub cotton one is not bad. I would not want to wear either tee shirt with a large bust, it makes the ears stick out too much.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Kate-

the Rosedale MN store (651-636-0357) had a TON of portlands this AM-there were several navys in XS and S. They also had some in black, champagne, bright pink (azalea, maybe) and bright melon-not sure of sizes. Also, for whoever-a pair of acorn matchsticks in a 29S for 9.99. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  110. So I know we bitch about it all the time, but I'm just going to vent...again. There's a sweater I want on final for $29.99...great price! BUT J Crew wants $8.50 to ship it!! Are you kidding me JC? It's "featherweight" and probably weighs less than a pound!! Argh! No new sweater for me. :(

    ReplyDelete
  111. Also, Rosedale MN store had several gray zebra tees-at least 5-7, not sure of sizes 651-636-0357

    ReplyDelete
  112. Stylishenglish...were the Portland sweaters marked down to $29.99? I was at my local B&M yesterday and they were still $39.99 in store.

    ReplyDelete
  113. anon 2:53: they were 39.99 but i've found the SAs at that store to be extremely accommodating-maybe because its a new store (just opened in Sept). If they are 29.99 online, you might be able to get them to price match-I've asked before and they've done it.

  114. Anony@2:13

I really dislike the zebra tee. How ugly! I would never walk around with a zebra on my chest. I laugh at people that fall for such an ugly tee. Can you tell how much I HATE this tee. (and I could afford it if I really wanted it!)

    ReplyDelete
  115. Lee, I think you were given bad info (or had a bad salesperson). I bought a few items in a B&M a few days ago, all on sale, and was able to add on my teacher discount without any hassle.

By the way, as of last Tuesday, there were plenty of zebra tees at the JC at Easton in Columbus, Ohio.

    ReplyDelete
  116. @Anon 3:35

Dislike the tee all you want, but it's pretty rude to laugh at people who like it. Did it ever occur to you that those people aren't "falling" for anything, but just legitimately like the t-shirt?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Anony 2:13... I also don't get the appeal of the zebra tee in either style. Good for others who love it and are able to buy it but I'm a bit bewildered over the appeal, as in what is the appeal? Maybe it is attractive to those who love animals? What is it?

    ReplyDelete
  118. I already get too many guys staring at my big boobs. If I wore that crazy zebra tee my BF would be freaking out constantly. No thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  119. I personally think the zebra tee is fug, tragically fug. I absolutely don't understand it. And I like animals!

Anyways, I do love the vast majority of what J. Crew is putting out this Spring, but am bewildered by this one.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Not a fan of any of the critter tees. Looking through my wardrobe it's obvious I have an aversion to graphic tees in general, although I'm not sure why that is. Like anon @ 4:14, I get more gawks than I want already, don't need to give anyone an excuse to look.

  121. Wow, the silk habotai placket polo is on sale already! Wasn't this one of the new arrivals just this week?

  123. I just purchased the Crawford blouse on the website. I'm a dummy so I missed out on the 20% off sale that just ended, but they did allow me to use my student discount, even though it was final sale. 129. TJ Maxx update- I have seen a few new things at Columbus,OH Henderson Rd store- This evening I saw a long chocolate tricotine dress (can't recall the name) in a size 0 (19.99), a pair of metallic flower sandals size 7 (14.99) yellow nubuck flip flops 7.99. And bought a pair of atlantic perfect flats for $19.99. The fiance wouldn't let me look anymore after that... Just FYI- I left at closing so someone could get that long dress- such a good deal!

  130. Krista.alana- I have two of the Crawford blouses, in Hot Pink and Black. I love them! They are a little sheer (I love a black tank underneath) and the tie makes it really flattering for people of any size. My one complaint is that they have this little hooks at the sleeves, and sometimes they fly open. I pressed them shut a little more, so it's okay now. Enjoy!

  131. I got the Faille Maisey jacket today in champagne, I love the cut and shape of it. I tried on the grey zebra and I liked it, just didn't want to spend more $$, plus the small was a tad too small but the medium tad too big.

  134. For those who look for the beaded zebra graphic tee in gray

I found a gray zebra tee in size L at my local B&M today (Carmel CA Tel: 831 624 2803). It was very cute! There was only one available right before the shop closed. So you might want to call in the early morning.

  135. Not sure if this is the right place, but the TJMaxx by me, in Encinitas/San Diego has shoes for $14.99 in sizes 6 and up. Hope that helps someone!

  136. There were a few (maybe 6-7?) Giraffe shorts on the N. Michigan Ave. Chicago store. One size 0, a few 6s, and an 8, I think. A whole rack of what look to be short-sleeved Portland sweaters (don't know the name) in all sizes and colors. A bunch of long-sleeved painter tees, mostly in Ls and XL. A lot of merino cardigans that look like the Portland (see a trend here?), but have different buttons, I think, marked at 49.99.

Also, I returned a size 0, Ballerina Silk Taffeta Dress in a dark blue to the TJMaxx on State Street. Hope one of you gals finds it (and that it looks better on you than it did on me!)

  144. I was at the Philadelphia Center City B&M yesterday and was disappointed with the selection. Earlier in the week, I had noticed that the Saturday pant was marked down to $49.50. I had left my 10% coupon at home that day and decided yesterday to use it, but the Saturday pant went back up to a "sale" price of $59.50. Grr. Wasn't impressed with any of the sales that were there. Today, I went to the Limerick Factory Store (Philadelphia Premium Outlets) and was returning a shirt and thought I'd look around. They had some pretty good deals. Noticed a lot of stuff from last year, i.e. Orange Polka Dot Katerina tops. Wound up buying an orange polka dot X-back Tissue Tank and a pair of Favorite Fit Striped Keaton pants both on clearance sale! Noticed some bootcut cords on clearance sale fo $14.97, none in my size though :/

  147. 3:31: I didn't really thoroughly check out the shoe section this time; my goal was to return the dress and get out without spending more money :)

Last weekend, though, there were still things like the grosgrain flip flops (in size 6) and in the larger sizes (12). No Lulus (*sadface*) or dressier shoes. Not sure if they're still there.

Also, none of the store associates had any idea if they'd be getting more JC stuff or if it was a one off. HTH!

  148. The store in Washington Square J. Crew (PORTLAND OR) has size 2-10 in the giraffe print shorts, also merino Portland cardis in various sizes, an orange XS Jackie, and some cute cotton sateen pencil skirts.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Jennifer,

Do you remember colors they had at the Washington Square store? I just bought the sateen skirt in pink and I love it! For the price, I would definitely purchase it in other colors.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I should add the Washington Square location had 2 small grey zebra tees full price, and the Bridgeport Village location had lots of ruffle sleeve slub tees, white HHF jeans, and navy blue sateen pencil skirts with buttons on clearance.

    ReplyDelete
  151. The sateen skirt was in navy with buttons for $50, pink for $30, abstract lattice in orange or tan for $50 (best selection of the above at Bridgeport Village), the yellow and grey floral print for $50 (Washington Square only), they had 2 coral cotton/linen ottoman skirts in 0 (WS) and 12 (BV). Also they have the sateen skirts in light tan and grey at full price at both locations.

  153. Select minis were 25% off, so I got the sunburst floral mini in spicy olive -- so cute and fits great! In store, there is a cotton sateen mini in the mod floral print, which is also cute (if you like that print, and I do!). :)
