  2. Site updated. Several new sale items and a few more items marked down further. Nothing I have to have though...just holding out!

30% of my hubby's office got laid off yesterday--pretty much out of the blue. He was told his job is safe. But no NEED for me to shop. My hubby came home stunned! Scary economy!

  3. It says I need to review the details of the code and it doesn't apply to me??? AGH!!

  4. It also said to me that I needed to review the details of the code although it showed the shipping removed through a promotion when I saw the subtitle.

  5. I'd be much more interested in % off than free shipping. I'll wait this one out even though my shopping bag is full.

  6. I'm having the same problem...very frustrating.

  7. This is tempting...there are a couple of items I would like to get, but I'm going to try and wait to see if they get further reduced in price.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I agree with FFM, tempting but I'll wait too. :)

  9. My order was well over the min. for this code but I received a msg in red too. The the shipping discount was applied but I just used another code rather than hassle with this code.

  11. it's not letting me place an order. also getting the "shopnow can not be applied..." although it *does* take the S+H off at bottom of screen. just now, one of my items sold out/removed from shopping cart, and I was already stretching it to get to $100... so I think I'm just going to give up. :/

I just placed a GAP order and I got free shipping even on my little order b/c I am a GAP silver card holder. I didn't want to spend $100 to get free shipping at JCRew. I am not going to buy stuff I don't need just to get free shipping and it doesn't look like the code is working anyway. Thanks:)

  15. JCrew needs to offer free shipping to its silver card members on any order like GAP....JCrew are you listening??? This message is for YOU:)

  16. Where is the % off? If they want to move inventory they have to make promos more appealing. Doesn't even seem this code is working??

    ReplyDelete
  17. FFM you look fab in the hot pink!!! Keep rocking the anti-Jenna.

  18. I got the email but my code was HURRY for free shipping on orders over $150.

  19. Anon @ 10:46 - I completely agree! I am a BR Luxe cardholder, and I get free shipping no matter what size $$ order I place, at BR, Gap & ON.... so convenient, and a great bonus to having the card! Plus, I just received an email for 25% off orders of $100, in addition to my free shipping. :-)

  20. OT - but does anyone know how the Cotton slub-silk lattice dress (item # 12945) fits? It's on sale now for $99.99.

if they're final sale they won't accept returns...i know some JCAs have been successful in returning final sale items but unless you have a PS you know really well or you get a SA whos really lenient...i'd say it's hard. i wasn't able to return a dress that ended up being too big on me. theres always the great exchange=)

    good luck!

  22. the code should be working since i just placed an order with it...

i got the two cashmere henleys on sale...but i got them in a small...i wonder if i should have ordered XS...i decided on small since i don't like sweaters to be too tight...the cambridge cables i like in small better than xsmall..does anyone have the glass button one of the alton one? thanks!

  24. Anon 2 10:45 - as long as the item is not marked final sale on your invoice (with an *), then you can return to the store without a problem. I have done so without any issues.

  25. OT return question: I want to return some items from online to a store, and I paid for them using both a gift card and CC. When I return, will I get the money back in a GC or will it be credited back to my CC?

Thank you so much for any help!!

  26. There is a pair of shoes I've been watching to go on sale. They are now, but i just looked up my balance on my J.Crew card; and, it's almost $1000. YIKES!!!! How did that happen? I'll have to hold OFFFF

    ReplyDelete
  27. I really don't see anything in the final sale that I'm interested in. Now, regular items is a different story! :) I'd love to see a % off ALL items, not just FS!

I SO wish JC would have promotions every now and then that gave you % off AND free shipping. Ann Taylor Loft does that often. But if history teaches us anything...guess we should not expect it :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. i know what you mean!

harmless browsing turns into $700 spent! and i don't have that much money as a student, so i'm selling my J.Crew clothes to fuel my habit of buying more J.Crew clothes. *exasperated sigh* :)

  29. Thanks for everyone who let us know there were updates to what was on sale. I just purchased the lovely fresco bikini set, the mohair muffler scarf, and the scattered-boule necklace for 110 dollars. Yay! (Would have been 125 if not for the free shipping!)

  32. Britt,
I think it depends on if you paid the bulk of your stuff with a cc or a gift card. For example, if your total was 75 and you used a 25 gift card and paid 50 on ur cc then i'm pretty sure it will go back to your cc. When I ordered online with both they used up all of my gift card and then the rest on my cc.

When you do your returns you can always ask them if you prefer to have it back on your cc or a gift card back. Keep in mind that it will take 5-7 business days for the money to show back on your cc. Whereas the gift card refund is given to you right then and there.

Try calling ahead just so you know for sure!
    HTH!

  35. Re: Final Sale Purchases
About a month ago I purchased a final sale catalog/online only item over the phone and the CSR made a note that I could return it if it didn't work. But, the SA returned it, no questions asked. I didn't even have to explain that the CSR made an exception even though on the packing slip it said FINAL SALE. IMO, I think it is worth a try to return final sale items if they don't work out.

  36. Still debating on a new swimsuit and slippers (if they stay in stock!).

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi all,

Well, I would be excited, but I already bought most of my finds last week during the SHHH 20% discount.

I looked around again & found 1 or 2 things that looked good (by the way several sweaters, skirts, & blouses still have promo prices) but nothing I HAVE to get.

I'm with FFM, I think I'll wait to see if things go lower. For example, I'd like to buy the short-sleeve cotton cardigan #13471 in tea rose. Right now it's on promo down from $58 to $49.50. However, I bought 2 similar sweaters last season on sale for $33.95. The same $s apply to my other jcrew staples like tees & blouses. I think I'll hold out & see if I can get my $100 to stretch a little farther. Most esp. because I know I can always check here for shipping codes etc.

More jcrew for less thanks to the tips from this site :)

I will also pass on this one as nothing I want is on sale.....so many better deals to be had at other stores right now! Wow!

  44. maybe this was already mentioned in a post or comment -- has anyone else noticed that the prices on some of the jcrew wedding dresses have come down? i was recommending them to a friend recently and went and looked and noticed the fontaine (which i thought used to be more like $1800 or $2000) is now $1000 and the mimi tshirt gown (which i wore at my wedding last october) is $795 and i thought it used to be $995

  51. I'm done with winter and spring items (already, yikes!)- looking forward to the summer line.

Hands down J Crew summer is my favorite season. They always have the BEST bright colors, cool prints, and basics in comfortable fabrics for warm weather. None of these qualities describe the current offerings with the exception of a few items I already bought, like the library shawl cardi.

  52. OT: does anyone have issues with orders sitting in released status since last week? I submitted order last Fri... still no shipping confirmation. I tried calling them today, but SA was obviously inexperienced and had no idea what she was doing. She only apologized but I want my package!!!

  53. Ok, random question, but does anyone have any input on the Fabienne flat boots? I found some at a great price on Ebay, and was wondering about the fit and style. Anyone have any input???

  57. IRL, thanks for your response. Did you ask them to fedex it to you? Or they just finally got around to mailing it to you via UPS?

  58. Review time!

Cashmere Harper sweater: beware ladies, this is tent-like! I ordered my usual S because the description says "Fitted", but I think what they mean by this is "Fitted in the shoulders ONLY". The rest of it ballooned out, but hit right at the hip so it wasn't gigantic, just very A-line. I don't think sizing down will help because then it will likely be too snug in the shoulders.

Also, the color "crisp celery" did not look anything like pictured on the website - it was much more yellow-based, almost a softer "key lime". Don't pick this if you're looking for a minty green, as you will be disappointed. There are lots of these sweaters left, after noticing the problematic fit, I'm not surprised.

Coralie suede heels: Perfect. The color "light eucalyptus" is what I wanted the "crisp celery to be", and it is pretty true to the website image. These are the same shoe as the calf-hair heels, I think, as they are both 3.25" heels. They are not as narrow in the toe box as the Trixies, and I found them to be TTS. I got them when they were randomly in the final sale and with the extra 20% they came to $79, which I think is reasonable as I will wear these throughout the spring and probably into the summer at work. For $198, no way.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Gee, some items went UP in price - they were on sale, and now they are not!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Silver lining - Thanks for that info on the Harper sweater!! I had been eyeing that for a while - esp now as it is $59.99, but after what you wrote I think I will pass. I find XS sweaters are often too big, even the fitted ones, so tent like is probably really not going to work!! Oh and I totally agree that the light eucalyptus coralie heels are a gorgeous color IRL - I also wish this was the same color as the light celery - I noticed the latter is brighter IRL too. Anyway, thanks for the info:)

  61. silver lining,

Thanks for the sweater info. Esp. for the crisp celery color info. I was hoping it was a true green in the mint family and I am so glad I did not order it...I was unsure and really wondering. That color will NOT work for my skin color for sure!

  63. Silver lining,
Thanks so much for the info on the Harper sweater. I ordered one last week with the 20% off. Did you know that Cashmere sweaters can be tailored? My amazing tailor has taken in more that a few J crew cashmeres for me and they turned out perfectly.

    ReplyDelete
  64. OT but just saw the Cotton Slub-Silk Lattice Dress, item 12945 in the sale section & love it. Anyone know how it fits? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  65. Hi joangee - I had no clue about tailoring sweaters! It's a very cute shape (at least, as pictured on jcrew.com) - if it goes down in price more, which I expect that it might, I'll pick it up in a neutral and try to have it altered. Thanks for the info. :)

Anybody seen the chiffon color in person? Based on my experience with the crisp celery, I now suspect that the chiffon may really be closer to a light citron.

    ReplyDelete
  66. AAAAAH!

I just got my final sale package in the mail, and among other things in it, the Crawford blouse I was so looking forward to.... and it has a torn seam!!!

I don't care what their no returns policy is - this puppy is going BACK! What is going on with J Crew these days? In December, I got a torn final sale item too, that also appeared to have a shoeprint on it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Just a report from the Charleston b&m. They didn't have much in the sale section, but they did have at least 5 or 6 Nicky skirts in the navy color for 19.99. They also had what I think is a sateen skirt in a soft pink for 29.99. I think they actually had several different colors of this skirt at the store, but only this one was on sale.

For the person who was searching for giraffe shorts, they had a ton.

The SA also mentioned a new roll out, either this Monday or next, ah the short-term memory is kicking in.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I just got my order today and I am in love with the crewcuts shorts with the pirate motiff and the tank top with the little skull on it. However, it's not as pictured - it's cuter! Online, it's shown as embroidered in the same light pink as the tank; IRL, it's silver with a little yellow halo! And, some of the skulls on the shorts have halos, too! Too cute!

I also ordered the merino microstrip cardigan in breeze and it's lovely. Can't wait to wear it!

    ReplyDelete
  69. leaderboys: I have 3 questions - did they have any of the lattice skirts left? If, so did you happen to notice the price? Also, was Billy there? He hasn't been there the last 3 times I've been there, and I'm worried that he's gone. I need to ask next time I'm there if he's still missing. TIA

  71. Hi all,

Ok.... I guess my "write less work more" plan for today is going on hold :)

1st I agree w Monogramgirl. Love the new header. They always look great!

2nd Oh no, Anon 5:29. I'm so sorry. That sounds terrible. BTW did they send it in a box or a bag? I've recv'd a few things in shipping bags lately instead of boxes & I'm wondering if it's a new cost-cutting measure.

3rd Thanks Silver lining for the review. I think I'll stay away from that sweater. Also, you reminded me that I intended to review a sweater I saw IRL last weekend so here goes...

    MEETING MIRIAM

I was happily playing with the sweaters at my local B&M when I ran across the Miriam sweater, item #11584. I found it a great reminder of why I love JCREW sweaters.

It was only available in the pewter, but I find that an esp flattering grey, so no complaints there. I would think that this colour would compliment a lot of JCAs complexions. It is almost identical to the Jackie pewter which IMHO works with a lot of my work wear. Most esp 120s suiting, Kelly blouses & perfect fit tees.

The body of the sweater is a fine gauge merino that hugs one's form. I have a couple of sweaters in this fabric & have found it to be forgiving & (more importantly) pill resistant. It is refined, soft & not at all itchy.

The trim is about 2 shades darker in a sturdy chiffon ribbon. These alternating acanthus leaves are well sewn & finished. I don't think fraying will be a problem - unlike the pinwheel cardigan. The trim runs all along the front & collar of the sweater. It makes for a nice accent without adding too much bulk. Although, I'm not quite sure why it went along the back of the collar. I did feel a bit like I was wearing a refined feather boa. However, it looks more Marilyn than Mae West.

The only trouble that I can see with this sweater is the fit. It is a bit on the small side & you may choose to size up. I tried on a small (my usual size) & a could see slivers of my tee between the clasps. If you zoom in on the close up photo you can see the same is true on the model. -- Although props to jcrew for using same fabric hook & eye closures.-- Oddly enough, it fits perfectly in the sleeves & shoulders. It's almost as if they intended you to wear the sweater open.

Other than the closure issue, I was really impressed by the Miriam. It has a sleek, retro style that I like. The trim is unusual without being over the top or too trendy. In many ways it reminds me of this great beaded merino cardigan I scored a few years ago. It's a great piece, unique & classic. I've worn it (sparingly) for years & recev'd several compliments.

    I think that this sweater would be a good investment piece. Although I may wait around a bit & see if it gets included in the next sweater promo. The only thing better than a great jcrew sweater is a great jcrew sweater on sale :}

Hope my observations are useful. Happy shopping!

  75. Hey Math Teacher,

I noticed one lattice skirt only because it was behind the checkout counter on their little shelf. I was staring at it as I was checking out. I do vaguely remember them having them, but I was not specifically looking for them. Did not get the price.

Billy was not there. I think he was there last time I went, but that was a few weeks ago. The girl that helped me was the really tall girl with long brown hair. She is so nice and helpful every time.

    ReplyDelete
  76. leaderboys - thanks for the info. I hope Billy's still around. My sister was down there last week and he wasn't there then, either. I've only had one guy not be helpful - in fact, he completely ignored me. Everyone else has been great.

  77. Has anyone tried the silk fresco dress? What is the fit like? I love the print, and the sales price makes it tempting, but it is final sale...

  78. I received the pearl cluster bracelet today, and I love it! The bracelet hung a little low on my wrist, but I was able to place the clasp on an inner ring... doing this made the bracelet hang higher on my wrist, and it was not uncomfortable at all.... you can't even tell that it's clasped in the "wrong" ring! Definitely not as clunky as the butterfly bauble bracelet.
I also received the Grenada palm cami, and I love it, too! I purchased a size 2 (I am a 34C, 25" waist), and it fits TTS. Hangs straight, and I love the print and color... I think it's more flattering for me than the giraffe print cami. The bow in the back is awesome!

  80. Silver lining - I've seen both the crisp celery and the chiffon cashmere sweaters IRL - actually the chiffon is a lovely pale yellow - not bright at all - unlike the crisp celery that looks like a lovely pale spearmint online but is actually brighter, the chiffon is pretty much the shade that appears in the photos. I would recommend it if you like a pale pastel type yellow.

Oh and I had no idea cashmere sweaters could be tailored either - that is good to know.

  81. Hi again,

I know-I know I promised to work... I'll be good soon. Promise!

I just wanted to thank IRL & Gigi for the link & review.

Wow! Who would know that a colour shift would make such a difference? Now I can see why my B&M only stocked it in pewter. I agree with gigi, the green does look a bit like confection gone mad!

That said, the pewter was a much different experience. Sorry I couldn't get an IRL photo for comparisons. The B&M I go to REALLY frowns on folks taking snaps & I'm too chicken to press my luck.
Anywho, I do hope folks take a look at the link & the site so they can see the difference.

Thanks again to IRL & Gigi for the added info.

  82. Hi all - I tried on the Cotton Slub-Silk Lattice Dress and it fell above the knee for me. I'm about 5'4. I tried on a size 2 and it was a bit loose (25/26 waist) but otherwise it was pretty TTF. I really liked it so it's tempting to purchase it now that it's on sale :)

  84. I just received the Slub Cotton Crossover V-Neck tee in pewter but I'm returning it. Like a lot of the v-neck or scoop neck shirts, this comes down way low on my chest. I would need to wear a cami underneath it. The shirt itself was a thin fabric but substantial enough that it draped well. I really loved the silk trim on the neckline. I'm 4'11" tall and like so many of my experiences with J Crew's clothes, things don't seem to be geared to those of us with a short torso...I'm waiting for the rest of the arrivals, wasn't too impressed with the latest. BTW, just found the blog and am glad to see I am not alone anymore :-)

I recently ordered the Pearl cluster bracelet and the pearl garden bracelet and the winner is the cluster bracelet. The garden looked too much like a wedding piece to me and is going back. Also stopped in my B&M and a lot more new stuff just was marked down-the ottoman aubrey is now $49 - love the papaya! A lot of the fun fabric and leather belts were marked down to $19 as well.

  91. Off Topic but a review about the Solid Silk Chiffon Whitney Long Dress. Item # 11429 325.00

I looked around to see if anyone else had purchased this dress yet to no avail. I ordered this dress in black in the hopes of wearing it to a semi-formal masquerade ball for Mardi Gras. I paid full price and the dress arrived folded on a plastic hanger, wrapped in a plastic bag and shoved in the box. I can overlook packaging but for 325.00 I would at least like it wrapped nicely in tissue. Anyhoo this dress is a hot mess, it hangs like dish rag and is not as full as it appears on J Crew. The chiffon has an odd smell and texture, and the dress drapes strangely. Perhaps if I sent it to a dry cleaner the drape could be improved, and I would not attempt to iron this dress myself. I am 5'10 and ordered a size 8, it fits true to size, however the bust area is small and the dress is fitted with an interior strap for support in the back, but no boning or support underneath. Unless you are very small chested this dress will not work. I am a 34 C, and the extra interior strap makes it impossible to wear another type of strapless bra. The length of this dress does not work for me, not long enough for heels, too long for flats. This dress is going back to J Crew ASAP. I would not buy this dress on final clearance with 20% off and free shipping. It looks cheap and I am truly disappointed that J Crew is trying to pass this off as "stunning", the only thing stunned right now is my credit card.

Did you size down or buy tts in the Sara dress?

    Thanks!

  94. D "heart": Size up in the Cate sling backs. I am typically a sz 6 and found the length to be a tad short. My sister, who is typically a sz 5.5, thought the fit was just perfect.

Sizing up in these shoes also might be a good idea because the ankle strap does not include an elastic. Its just leather (and not too hefty), so if the fit is too tight, the leather may stretch and you may encounter problems with the strap slip off your heel.

  95. OT but has anyone purchased the new short sleeve/three quarter sleeved "soft" tees? I am thinking of trying them out but I am concerned about the sizing (tts?) and I am wondering if they stretch as dramatically as the ringspun tees?

    thanks =)

  96. Does anyone know if the sale updated this morning? I'm a West coaster and didn't wake up early to check but there are a few things I'd still consider buying with free shipping...though I wonder if all their winter stock is en route to TJ Maxx instead!!

I got the pearl cluster bracelet in the mail today too, and I love love love it. The fit is perfect on me (for a change) and it can match with so much!

  97. Size down on the color block cardigan. It runs big, I can usually wear a small, but I went to XS.

  98. anon 12:19 Yes the site updated with a few items this morning around 8:45 am CST. When I checked there were a few Sean bags and some new necklaces but they disappeared quickly.

  99. J.Crew needs to stop promoting the final sale as something anyone should be happy about.

  100. I think with the current economy I will stick with my wishlist - if it's not on it, then it's not getting ordered.... And wishlist items are only getting ordered with an extra % off!!

With that said, please let me know if anyone sees the small hobo on sale at their B&M!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. I don't think I'll be ordering this time around. I don't have many items sitting in my shopping bag which tells me they should go lower on prices this week. LOL

  102. joangee,

That is nice to know but no way would I pay extra to have a JCrew cashmere sweater tailored...seriously, to me that is crazy! Maybe as a one time thing but not on a regular basis. The quality of their cashmere to me is not worth it!

  103. I just got a final sale order with the Lea cardigan in dark peony -- have been looking for this color forever. I took the cardigan out of the plastic bag and noticed it smelled like perfume. Guess what? Sweater had been worn. Someone returned it with the price tag safety-pinned to the label. When I inspected the inside of the sweater, could clearly see white deodorant marks around the pits. Gross. I called CS and told them I would be returning it even though it is final sale. She said no problem and she was really sorry. I'm really sorry J Crew doesn't even LOOK at the merchandise that is returned. Bright side, at least the sweater didn't smell of BO!

  106. I am really ticked off at JC. Prices of items up and down. I ordered a t-shirt earlier this week at $19.50 and now it is marked at $29.50. And the Coralie shoes!!! Boo JCrew!!!!

  107. Hi anon 2:12,

I agree, it would be nice to know what our fellow JCA's are doing to keep there white coats clean. Mine is sitting in the back of my closet waiting for a cold, but not muddy/rainy/smudgy day. Rather silly when I think about it.

    Please try this old thread:
    http://jcrewaficionada.blogspot.com/2009/02/jcrew-dry-clean-items-how-do-you-care.html

Also, you may wish to re-post your request on one of the more active threads. Like the "who's visiting this weekend" post. You may get some more info. from folks there.

    Good Luck,

    Heather:D

It is listed as final sale on the website but I'm thinking of trying to return it... love the coat but the color is a little much!
