J.Crew Email: Final sale. New styles added.

As many of you have noticed and mentioned, the Final Sale got replenished this morning. J.Crew sent an email this morning announcing the news as well. :)

Were you able to purchase any final sale items today? If so, what did you get? :)

  1. I don't think they are on final sale (not ending in .99), but they finally discounted the Juliet midheels. I realized well after they were gone at those amazing sale prices from the stores that I loved them (thanks to all of FFM's fabulous sets), so I picked up a pair using the FS code and my rewards card. Yay!

  2. I noticed that there seems to some new spring items that were just rolled out last week already in the sale section!

For the love of God the site is sooo slow today. It's is really beating me down today.

Is anyone esle having this problem? I wonder if the site will crash?

Thanks for posting the email Alexis!

  3. OT:

The mandarin perfect Ts went from 2 for 35 back to a full 34.50 each! Argh! Why do they do that? Is it because they're selling?

    ReplyDelete
  4. I am so DONE with that darn website. They need to make some serious changes. I shop online all the time, and i've never had problems like I have with jcrew.com. There were several items of interest, but It was way too slow. I finally gave up for today...

  5. I did place an order, but I would have bought more with a % off code.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I got the whisper lame Zoey cami in the pretty blue color, but that's all.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Can anyone specify which new spring items have been marked down? I'm trying to find them but the site is being reeaaaally slow. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  8. The papaya colored hemp suiting was marked down. I wish the navy was! I might still get something in papaya. . .I'm going back and forth.

  9. Must-not-look! Seriously I need to put myself on a ban. I opened a jc card yesterday and made my 20% off purchase. I didn't charge a lot but no more shopping until it's paid!

    Happy shopping ladies!

  10. AH! The Ingrid heels have been reduced! <3

  11. Shannon,
I don't know if you are going to be able to do this but I remember when I first opened my J Crew credit card back in Sept I was able to use the 10% code online about four times after my first purchase. I would just enter it in on my online orders and it would work. It probably worked for the first month or so. Maybe you can use your 20% code again.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I will test that out ;) Thanks Emily!

  13. As always, the site is tanking during a sale. They seriously need to to back to the old site.

    ReplyDelete
  14. OK, quick: should I get the double-serge Tuesday trench in navy or the Lille coat in black? TIA!

  15. I just want to vent (excuse me for a few) - I had bought something yesterday online and called to make sure that it was indeed in stock. Helpful CS rep said that unfortunately, they had sold out (take note: my order was specified as "Released/Open" in my Order History). I wanted to cancel but couldn't since according to CS rep, it was past time to cancel.

Long story short, the item I had ordered and was supposedly out of stock is appearing again on the FS page (after disappearing after I had ordered it).

    'Don't get it... :(

  16. I sprang for the Phoebe metallic houndstooth jacket last night - on sale & free ship, I chanced it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I finally broke down and ordered the Maggie double-serge jacket (item #99322) in Ivory this morning, as well as the Chiffon Pleated Cardigan (item #99829) in Putty and the Juliet Patent-Leather Midheels (item #96716) in blanched almond (all because of FFM's fabulous blog post the other day!)

I'm so tempted to order everything from the "Behind the Seams" page in the catalog (which I still don't have yet...) but I'll try to contain myself until it goes onsale a bit more. (the Merino michelle V-neck cardigan, item #11659 is already marked down to $69.50).

  18. smarty - I would type in skirts since there were a lot of those from spring on sale. The other thing I can remember seeing is the Camilla print dress.

    ReplyDelete
  19. There are some shoes I desperately want, but because I can't return or exchange them if they don't work out, I won't buy them in the first place. So, because of J. Crew's idiotic rules about their final sale, I won't be giving them any money. I'm sure they'd love to hear that in this economy.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hey, Drewablank - that happened to me a few weeks ago. I ordered the papaya cashmere scarf only to have it cancelled. Two days later I found it in "final sale" once again. I ordered it again, and emailed JC to ask them to waive shipping charges - - they did and gave me 10% discount on next order. Agree that the site is ridiculous, but they're trying to make it right...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Himmiefan, call in the order and explain you're unsure of fit - I'm certain J.Crew will say they'll make a note on your file that you can return the shoes, even though they'll be marked final sale. I've done this with a skirt I wasn't sure of. I had no issues at all returning it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks, sherbie! That was the dress I was looking for. Now just hoping for a % off code :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. La Belle Helen,

    Thanks! I'll try that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anon 12:51, I have the double-serge Tuesday trench in navy and it is flat-out gorgeous. A lot of JCAs said they had to size down and I would recommend that if you want it more fitted and are not large in the shoulders or bust. The belt can cinch it up nicely so no worries if you get your usual size. The fabric is the same as the double-serge pencil skirts, very soft, thick wool.

I bought it on sale in late fall and the open neckline didn't work for the coldest days of winter but I have been wearing it again now and it is so fabulous. Looks great dressed up or with jeans. One of my favorite J.Crew coats and I have about 10 so that is saying something.

I considered the Lillie coat but after reading (only) a couple posts about the empire waist effect created by the belt and viewing IRL photos posted by some JCAs, I decided against it. I am large busted and small on the bottom, an empire waist does not flatter me, even if it is just slightly higher than the natural waist. I wasn't crazy about the pass-through belt either, although some people did remove it and tie it over the coat.

  25. I saw the Nicky skirt in final sale, 39.99. It seems like it was marked down pretty fast! I wish the gray color that seems store-only was on sale on the website, too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. i got a double serge pencil skirt in my size 0!!! in ochre, and a stadium lucinda coat in navy, not my first choice color (it would've been blk) but i'm okay with navy

    ReplyDelete
  27. You're welcome, Himmiefan - hope it works :-)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anon @ 1:29PM: Thanks for empathizing. :) It's just frustrating...I don't know if I can go through that whole fiasco again though with the ordering and cancelling...gettin' my hopes up...but hey, I still fall for J.Crew all the same, all the time...sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Do I have an option to buy a FS item on full price? I am skeptical in getting a FS dress that I have never tried on. I'd rather pay FP and if it doesn't fit, I can return it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. "Just when you think you're out, they pull you back iiiiin..." - J.Crew Addict/Aficionada mantra

  31. I found the pearl cluster necklace at my local Target. Picked up two! Love it love it! The necklace (from Merona) comes in two versions - one has a simple dot where the pearl is secured. The other version has a floral pattern. I went with the simpler version because the florals are too distracting. Anyway the JC version has no florals. Can't beat the Target price of $10.92.

On another note, I received my leopard sequin cardi today and ADORE it! It looks a little greenish but under proper lighting it's just gray/whitish. The quality is superb. I paid $76. This is another JC item I would pay full price. I notice it's back on the website in sizes SX and L.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The leopard sequin cardi didn't have a FS stamp on it. I could return it but never in a million years!

    ReplyDelete
  33. So, let me get this straight...every time JCrew has a sale or sends out an email saying they have updated their sale section that the website is going to run super slow, crash, or not work correctly...and you people are willing to continue to put up with this????

You have some serious issues....better left to a medical professional. There are other places to shop online with just as cute of clothes...might try branching out...decreased sales might get JCRew to get their act together. Self respect goes a long way.

  34. Do you all consider the Ecole to be an appropriate "daytime" blazer? I have a couple but only feel comfortable wearing them out at night. I was hoping to get more mileage out of them!

    ReplyDelete
  35. it depends on the color. Which colors do you have in the ecole?

    ReplyDelete
  36. la belle helene: LOVE that jacket! I bought it a couple months ago ... it's fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  37. The Madeline double-cloth coat magically reappeared! I went ahead and ordered it ... although I'm somewhat bummed that I should have just got it during the 30% sale before it "sold out." Oh well... *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  38. My black Lille is one of my favorite purchases from J. Crew last year. The fabric is a nice texture and warm and the coat can go casual or nicely with a skirt or dress. I wear it six days our of seven! I have never had problems with the belt and like the silhouette it gives. It is a very, very forgiving coat and you can easily layer under it. I live in Michigan, and this winter has been brutal cold and my Lille has seen me happily through the freeze. On the other hand, I have the Maggie in the double serge fabric, and if the trench has the same texture I bet that is quite nice too. Good luck deciding, hope you enjoy either coat!

  40. Lindsey B - glad to hear it. I've fallen so in love with the Astrids that I have triplets (fuchsia boucle, charcoal boucle & cascading flowers boucle) and the Phoebe looked like it's a similar cut.

Of course, it was low in stock, so odds are high I won't even get it :-( But until that dreaded "news about your order" e-mail shows up, I'll be enthused about the purchase.

  41. Wool Herringbone Ella in Dark Peony or the Golden Roses dress?

And the site is being so slow and stupid. It's killing me!

    ReplyDelete
  42. A said,

What color did you get in the Juliet midheels? I'm in the same boat as you (thanks to FFM, I now want them. However, it is not showing them as marked down (at least for the blanched almond color)? Am I missing the FS code?

    Thanks for any help...

  43. I am a "lurker" but had to come out and post today. I was just at a local TJ Max (North of Boston) and they had a about 30 pairs of J Crew shoes and Sandals. They were all beautiful - the shoes/heels were 19.99 the sandals were 14.99. Hope some of you find them!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. How come none of the things I have stored in my shopping bag were marked down? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  45. A said,

Oops, never mind my question. I now see the Juliets were $198 and are now $150.

    Thanks,
    C

  46. There is nothing motivating me to buy. I feel "full" JCrew wise. Until I feel that JCrew 'hunger', I am fine, satiated, FULL.

  47. RatsOnParade, i also love that outfit. i put everything in my cart and it was $400. i, too, must wait for a sale. ;)

has anyone tried on the Metallic-diamond jacquard skirt (item #12045). it looks super cute on that page in the catalog but not as good on the product page. i'm just wondering how it is IRL.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Wow, anon @ 3:46! Thanks for posting. I hope they show up at TJ Maxx stores out here in CA. I will have to keep an eye out!

  50. Got the super 120's high pencil skirt in tea rose today, ladies! The color is *gorgeous*, but the fit is funny. I wear a 2 in the double-serge and other "lower" pencil skirts, but sized up on the higher ones like the sparkle tweed. So I purchased a 4 in the super 120's, and while the fit was snug on the thighs, it was totally loose in the stomach area, and the baggy fabric looked pouchy. Waaah! I think that if I sized down that wouldn't help, as it may then be too tight in the thighs. I'm bummed because the color was so pretty - definitely a touch brighter than on my computer screen, whoever said that it was closer to bright rhubarb is probably right. Congrats to those of you who can wear this, it looks like a great piece for the price.

  51. Yippie- My UPS man just came with my Maggie in Berry- I LOVE IT! I have the maggie in Camel and love it so much I couldn't resist another one for $79 minus the 30% from last week's sale. I also got the sanibel crawford blouse and really like it. It is kind of scratchy, but super cute and very unique. Not as excited about the current sale but I did pick up the Carrie coat in Black today. I was also tempted by the Juliet heels, but $150 still seems high. Especially since the sizing on J Crew shoes is so all over the place.

  52. I was at a TJ Max in Peabody, MA. The shoes were on a round 3 teired table at the front of the aisle. They had leather bottom sandals (same as the ones in the catalog - in a silver and pewter color...none in my size though). These were 14.99. Then they had some FUN heals. I think they are from the current season. The minute I saw them I new they were J Crew and couldn't believe they were 19.99!! Good luck. I'm heading out to some other TJ Maxxs in my area tomorow!

  53. After reading Anon at 2:23's somewhat rude comment, I was interested to see what effect if any slow web site performance had on most retail sites profits. I did some research and found a few studies (which I have linked on my blog) that found such results. But I am curious, do you think a slow web site is enough to make die-hard JCA's stop shopping? Personally its worth it to me to put up with it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I just call CS and place my order and usually get Free shipping when I mention my website woes...

    ReplyDelete
  55. I do not like maggie in heather berry. It looks cheaper than those in neutral colors. The wool quality of maggie jacket is very nice, but in the berry color, it looks like just another cotton jacket.

    ReplyDelete
  56. If any one is tired of their Zoey Blue Jasmine in size 0 please let me know! I'm really sick of stalking the website every morning for the update. Plus, the website is just so slow. :(

Also, still looking for Cashmere short sleeve tee in small Salmon. CS says there were none left then they show up this morning. So sick of it!

    ReplyDelete
  57. BirdE and others - I don't have a lot of issues with the website. Sometimes it is down and once it happened just as I was checking out, which was frustrating but usually I just come back later when it is available. I guess I don't have the same urgency as others during the sales and if I miss something it's fine with me. There are seldom any "must have" items, they are all "nice to have" considering I have a very full and functional wardrobe already. Part of my attitude also comes from knowing that FS items may be canceled or may be defective/worn returns so sometimes it is better to just let it be instead of getting all worked up over something that will eventually disappoint. JMHO

I shop at several online retailers regularly and have not experienced the same problems at other sites enough to remember it happening even. Definitely is a negative as far as J.Crew is concerned.

I also think that we see a lot of frustration on this blog when the website has issues because people can come here and comiserate, which is not a bad thing. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  58. BirdE I really enjoyed reading your research! It certainly would be interesting to see how many unique visitors jcrew.com has had and how that changed after the summer "relaunch."

There was an item in there I wanted to comment on... You mentioned that the reasons why a person might visit google are most likely different than why someone would go to jcrew.com. If someone went to Google to do a search and (god forbid!) Google went down, there are plenty of other options out there to do a web search (Yahoo, Ask, AOL, MSN, etc.).

But if someone is going to jcrew.com to shop, it's probably because they're looking for a specific J.Crew item. There are no other alternatives, except for going to eBay to see if you can find your item there (and if you do, you pay premium).

For me (and I understand I might be in the minority here) - I find a thrill in the hunt. If today there are no more Lulu Peep Toes in Burnt Sienna in my size, I know if I keep checking every morning at just the right moment, they might just show up again. And, if I'm able to stick them in my cart and checkout quickly enough, there might just be a chance that they'll ship. So let's say I get a tracking code, AND I actually get the right items in the box when it arrives. It's like winning a prize. :)

We all have different motivations for shopping at the sites that we choose to frequent. As Anon 2:23pm pointed out, "There are other places to shop online with just as cute of clothes." But for me, I really like J.Crew's clothing. It might not be the most pleasurable online shopping experience, but it's one that I'm willing to tolerate if it means I get that pair of Lulu Peep Toe Heels at the end of the day. :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh no, silver lining, I also ordered the tea rose super 120's skirt. No problem, I'll prepare myself that it might not work out! (:

J Crew skirts have always been a slam dunk for me - I've never ordered one that didn't fit. I was looking forward to that colour because I'm in a bit of a neutral- bottoms rut. Gotta branch out.

    Hellooooo papaya linen skirt!

    ReplyDelete
  60. RatsOnParade, I love your response. I do think it is all about the thrill of the hunt for many people. Personally, I also love J.Crew clothing and have purchased about 70% of my clothes there for over 10 years. It's great to get a coveted item, but I usually find new coveted items with each release. Maybe it's ADD or just an addiction to getting something new.

I often imagine a bunch of us in a store and then suddenly an announcement comes over the PA saying that a new shipment of sale items has arrived or there is a promo in a certain deparment and we all stampede over to get the goods. Of course, it is a barrel of fun with a lot of YAHOOs thrown in here and there. Good times.

    =D

  61. Off topic, but I just got my steamer. I love it. Everyone on here who talked it up over ironing is dead on - I far prefer it, and I'm sure my clothes do, too. I'm going through my closet and steaming one item after another - can't get enough. I'm a delighted little steamstress right now :-)

  62. I'm thinking about the maggie in heather bright berrry; I see one anon gave the color a big thumbs down. Any other thoughts? thanks!

  66. Just received my Felicia Heavy Wool Pique Coat in Bright Rhubarb, and LOVE it! Any other ladies have this coat?! It's so cute and the pleating on the backside is so unique! I got it for $59 bucks! :) It was a great deal so I snagged it when it finally popped up during the 30% off sale. Yay so happy!

And thanks anon for the TJMaxx location. I'll have to check it out this weekend!!! :)

  67. If something is on sale on the website, and a store has it but it is still full price, will the store price match it? Anyone have experience with this?

    ReplyDelete
  68. i'm the anon that posted about the big carrie coat fail. and i just had to sy that the felicia coat is the only coat that fits great from this season. i have it in blk and navy, i know, crazy, but it's the most awsome coat ever. very chic and cute. hate the carrie, hate the carrie, absolutely hate the carrie...now i'm stuck with it cuz of the stupid final sale. ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  69. anon that hates the carrie:
sorry that you hate that coat so much but dont worry put it on the weekly exchange im sure someone will want it.. or even ebay :) what size is it and why do u hate it so much? i was thinking about getting it before but it sold out before i could.

  70. It so annoys me when Anonymous writers comment about how there are other stores in the world besides J.Crew. This blog is called "J. Crew Aficionada" not "I Kinda Like J. Crew-ish Sometimes Maybe"... no duh there are other places, but J. Crew is the best, in our collective opinion. Alexis works hard to make this a fun, upbeat blog. Take negative comments elsewhere. :-\

PS: J. Crew at TJ Maxx?!?!? I'm going to do some local scouting tomorrow! Thanks for the tip!

  72. hi ashley, the coat is in sz0 camel. i have to say, hwile the fit is horrid on me, the fabric is really nice, definitely more substantial than the felicia. that's the only good thing i have to say about this coat.

  74. Does anyone own the Tabitha t-strap shoes? This is the first time I've noticed them and they look lovely. I'm curious to know if they run TTS.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I live north of Boston so I will DEFINITELY be making a trip to Peabody & the other local TJMaxx's in search of these shoes! LOL

I did get a pretty good score on final sale yesterday. I got:

    * cashmere heirloom henley in golden cypress. I've been waiting for this color to get marked down!

    * Lili tuxedo henley in navy - I wanted the cardigan, but they didn't have it in my size. This one has slipped b/w my fingers a few times online so I was happy to finally snag it!

    * Merino Lea cardigan in citron yellow - I'm not sure about this color, but I love the sweater.

  76. Hi Paper Bag Princess! I didn't even consider that this wouldn't fit, I've had overall good luck with their pencils, from last spring's cha-cha dot pencil skirt up to the double-serges from this winter. Something about the "high" pencil, maybe...

But yeah, that papaya skirt is darling, and so are the sateen pencils that are currently in-store only. They're very similar to the online sateen pencils, but without the buttons at the waist.

Pencil (and other JC skirt) love!

    ReplyDelete
  77. So sad, went to my B&M today and no additional percent off. I couldnt bring myself to purchase a sale item without the additional off.
Looked like they had shipped out a ton of the lingering sale stuff too.

    ReplyDelete
  78. none for me this time. i'm with the previous poster on being jcrew-satiated. actually, winter-clothes-satiated more like, with all the sales at all the different stores.

but i was tempted by the trouser jeans. i don't have that cut yet, and i love jcrew jeans. but...i really have too many jeans in my closet already =P

    ReplyDelete
  84. La Belle Helene - I love my shimmery python pencil skirt! I've worn it once already, and received multiple compliments as well. :-)

  90. La Belle Helene, I got my Cascading Flowers today! And ohh is it gorgeous! I told my husband about how a certain JCA wears her doing chores around the house =) and he just shook his head and groaned. haha. How does your astrid fit? I ordered a size up (the only size available) and it fits okay in the sleeves and length, but I feel its a bit boxy through the body...I'm wondering if its suppose to look that way, and whether I should take it to the tailor.

    TIA

  92. OMG! TJ MAXX has J Crew shoes?? I have 2 TJ Maxx's near me. I am going to call them and find out what they have! I wonder if they will get clothing as well as shoes!

  93. lleila, my store did match the online sale price... however I am not sure if that is a common practice. Call your store and speak with a manager, I'm sure they can let you know.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I had the crackle ankle strap ballet flats and I ordered my regular size 7. I took them back in order to get a 6.5 because I felt they ran large. I could draw my toes in a little bit and they would basically come out of the shoe. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  95. I am the original TJ Maxx poster..I couldn't believe it when I saw the shoes. The styles were all current and I wanted one of each (unfortunately, sizes were not in my favor!). I didn't have time to look to see if they had any JCREW clothes - I think if they had they would have been right up front so I doubt it. Please let me know if you find them in your stores!!!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Hi Everyone!
Just got back from TJ Maxx (too intrigued not to go!). The store in Apex, NC, had much more than I would have thought. This is what I remember off the top of my head:
Penelope (?) pumps in the teal and pumpkin, 6
A sort of spectator metallic silver and black flat, 6.5
City Metallic flats in gold, 7
City Patent flats in black, 7.5
A spectator peep toe mary jane (can't remember name) in nude with the blue and red accents, size 7?
    Jane Calf-Hair flats in 8.5
Lizzie leather driving mocs in black, 9
Serengeti Peep toes (not the slingback), sz. 11
Also some jelly jeweled flats in black, scattered throughout and one pair of green jelly flats.

No sandals, that I saw. :( I would have bought the calf-hair flats, but DH said I had too many that looked like them, so I was content to walk away with some navy suede driving mocs.

From what I noticed, all were marked on the inner sole and all of the shoes were $19.99.

Sounds like there is a good variety out there, so good luck! I plan on scouring all available tj maxx's in the vicinity. :)

  97. Oh! Forgot to add...
Also a pair of patent gray flats with yellow piping, size 9. :)

  98. My orders have been shipping super fast...as in the next day!

  99. I'm sorry I keep posting, but I keep remembering things!
Also at the Apex TJ Maxx, yellow Lulu flats, in a 6/6.5 (can't remember which).

    ReplyDelete
  100. I checked my TJMaxx tonight out of curiosity in CT and nothing (like others I was too intrigued not to go)... boo. May check a few others around me this weekend. How exciting though. Thanks for the tip anon!

  101. Anon, I tried on the Aubrey in my normal size 0 and I wasn't too thrilled with the fit. It's boxy (just look at the model pic profile) /tent/ trapeze like. The sleeves are a nice full length, and I have other items in the cottom linen ottoman that I like, but the cut was a deal breaker for me. Do a search for it here - one of the girls on the blogroll has some IRL pics.

    hope this helps!

  102. Sarah R or any other lucky TJMaxxers on the east coast -- if you see Lulu YELLOW flats in a size 6.5 (6 won't fit ; P) I will totally buy them from you and pay you extra for your troubles!!!

  103. I was wondering if anyone was finding a consistent time, when the website adds new merchandise each day. I remember about a year ago, it was a little more organized. The website added new items at exactly 6:47am (Eastern).
I'm finding that things seem to go up between 9am and up until 1pm, or not at all. Also what does "BM" Jcrew stand for? I see that mentioned quite a bit on the posts. Just trying to stay in the loop.
Thanks for everyone's comments. I learn so much from all of you.

    ReplyDelete
  104. @Em Thanks for the thoughts about the trouser jean! So the lack of pockets in the front works? That was my last concern.

And so happy...the other pair of jeans I want to pull the trigger on but am being good about...I called jcrew and they said they still have 100s. That means I can wait for another coupon code =D

    ReplyDelete
  105. and I think BM jcrew means bricks & mortar, right? as in a physical jcrew store.

all this talk of tj maxx is making me want to rush out and stalk their shoe aisles! though, i really should just call. good tip, poster who wrote that =D

  106. OT-

    Hi ladies!

I'm a little late with the weekly swap, but I have an item for sale:

The metallic tweed pencil skirt. It's black and silver and looks like tweed. It's b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l, but is too long on me (I'm 5'1"). It's a sz 4. It sits very slightly high on the waist. I paid $161.64 (FS item, 149.99 + shipping and tax). I am asking that amount (give or take the .64 :)

Also, it's on the slightly big side for a 4. FYI.

  107. I have the trouser cords and they are mega flattering, same with my Gap dark wash trouser jeans. I vacillated the entire run of the last 30% off to whether I should pull the trigger on the JC trouser jeans, too, but I held off since they look PAINTED onto the model, like a pair of "jeans-painted" leggings I saw on a girl with a black bar across her face on the last page of Glamour magazine last time I paged through one in the supermarket line. Man, I guess I was wrong on that one if they aren't as tight IRL, or if they stretch after a wearing. Also I got burned on the HHF jeans- I got an ultra high waist pair.

  108. Re: RR post above: I would pay shipping. :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. Wow, anon that posted about TJMaxx, you are awesome!!! I just went to three after work(hubby is on a business trip) and all three had some JCrew.

    Store #1
An entire rack of special occasion dresses!! Every single dress was $19.99. I scored the Cecelia tricotine short dress in Deep Atlantic and black (for my sis), the long Cecelia in black and one that looks like the Lorelei in a navy cotton-cady like fabric. I couldn't resist for $19.99!!

    Store #2
One pair of gold Lucie kitten heels. Soooo...these are a size 9.5. I wear a 7. I bought them because a JCA MIGHT want them! (I am a huge dork, I realize). If you want them, email me. They were $22, plus shipping.

    Store #3
Nothing out, BUT I asked and the girl told me they had a huge box of mixed JC shoes in the back room (I resisted the urge to ask to go back there and dig). She said they were all different styles (not enough of one style to make a display), so they would be putting them out as needed. My point here is, if you go to your store and they don't have shoes out, ask. They may have them in the back, waiting to be put out. Of course, I will be stalking this store for shoes :)

If you want the 9.5 gold Lucies, email me: stephanie.marty (at) gmail.com!

    ReplyDelete
  110. ^ I forgot the best part...everything is returnable for 30 days!!

Oh, and two stores had one gold necklace each, so don't forget to check the jewelry counters.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Smarty - you are in SD right? Can you identify the locations of stores #1 and #2? :)

    ReplyDelete
  112. anon, send me an email.

  113. The website wouldn't even let me LOOK through the sale items. It wouldn't allow me to go past page 1. I gave up after 20 minutes of fighting with it. I wish jcrew would go back to their 2006 website. I don't think I EVER experienced any problems with it back then...:(

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'm heading to TJ Maxx in the morning for sure! But if someone sees Lulu heels in 7.5 in any color...I'll pay you back...I want those!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  115. Has anyone else noticed this in their store?

I have been stalking the COLORBLOCK beaded necklace, was $75 now $50 on the website. I figured I'd check it out in the store, hope for an additional percent off the sale price, etc.

So I check at the store today and they have the old price covered up with a new $50 tag. It is not a white price tag like when items are on sale, it is a gold printed tag made to look like the original price tag.

My thinking is that they are doing this to protect themselves from having to accept an additional % off should there be a promotion going on. It also doesn't show up in the sale section of the site, just in the jewelry section, so maybe its not a true 'sale.'

I asked the SA if that was the same sale price as on the website (knowing that it was) and she said she could call and check but I told her not to bother.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

If anyone has the colorblock necklace and wants to part with it, email me at sarahdagger AT hotmail DOT com

  116. Oh my gosh, I'm so jealous of all the TJ Maxx finds out there. Sounds like there are a few size 6/6.5 available as well which is even more gut wrenching. Well, hopefully we'll find some of these up on ebay in a short amount of time right? I'd probably buy a few extra if I found them to make a little extra $$
Have a few TJ Maxx stores around me but I doubt they'll have any JCrew.

    ReplyDelete
  117. If JCrew's prices were not so inflated to begin with they would not have to drastically reduce new spring items. Would look better for them since they are so worried about being a sale store now!

    ReplyDelete
  118. anon 4:37: Most of retail are sale stores now!

    ReplyDelete
  119. casual-crew,
Wish I had a retail store close by....I know the deals are better there.

    ReplyDelete
  120. It would be nice if JCrew offered even a one day extra % off....ooops. But then again I wouldn't be able to buy what I wanted b/c the website would just crash!!! Maybe not...

    ReplyDelete
  121. smarty,

That is such a nice gesture to buy the shoes and offer them up here! Wish I wore that size! You are very kind.

Doubt any size 11 ballet flats will ever be at TJMaxx!

    Julie

    ReplyDelete
  122. JennLC, oh I am *so* happy for you - what color did you get (I have black)? I did size up one from what I wear in the droopy-flower astrid boucle because that's what I'd perceived was best to do from reading comments on here. I'm glad I did - mine fits perfectly across my shoulders, which is important to me as I despise feeling pulled in the shoulders.

There is a *little* boxiness in the body, but I'm still debating whether it's worth taking it to the tailor because it's so minor.

    ReplyDelete
  123. anon 6:38: I know what you mean I have the same problem. I hate ordering on line during the sales because of the website problems and there is a greater chance there will be a problem with the order being shortshipped etc.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Just got an email saying my Phoebe metallic houndstooth jacket has shipped. So, now we'll see what's actually in the box when I open it, hahahahaha.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Sarah H: I have noticed this. I wonder if J Crew reconsidered their starting price point for certain items after the manufacturing/advertising material production had begun. I noticed with the January catalog that they stressed the new lower prices on certain items (i.e., suede ballet flats, dress, etc.). Their cashmere tees used to be about $118, weren't they, and yet they dropped their retail price to something like $98. Perhaps they are heeding consumer's comments pertaining to items being overpriced. It reminds me of those Wal-Mart commercials in which the price sign drops numbers to reveal a new retail price. Maybe it's a new experiment to see what retail price point would result in the most sales without actually having the item go on sale. Now if they would only bring back the retail price of the uptown totes back to $198 where it retailed 2 years ago instead of the current starting price of $265+. I would definitely resume buying the uptown at that retail price.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I ordered a size up in C Flowers Astrid too. It if a bit big in the chest but the shoulders and back fit perfectly. I might have been able to get my normal size in the Astrid as in the Berry and Boucle that I own but I didn't want to chance it and it would have likely been tight across the back. So it's a little more loose than I like...so what...will wear a padded bra and a turtleneck sweater with it. I wasn't planning on wearing just a sleeveless cami any way...don't want to worry about dry cleaning due to deoderant/perspiration issues. Doubt I will ever clean...just air out between wearings.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Thanks for the heads up on TJ Maxx. I usually get JC at Ross here in L.A. I am definitely going to call and go to a few of both locations to see what I can find when the doors open at 9:30am pst. Last year I found a few items that I have yet to wear. Starting Monday I am shopping my closet and making a list of basic needs.

  128. Ladies, the sale section updated again! I made out with two pencil skirts in my size!

Really happy about my purchase. Was wondering if anyone had the textured hemp pencil skirt, and what they thought of it? Does it wrinkle easily?

It was the more impulse buy of the two. Now if I could only get the double-serge pencil skirt in persimmon.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Oh and I didn't have any trouble with the website this morning. I was very surprised.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I have the velvet Ecole in olive, honey glaze, burgundy, and fossil. Which colors are appropriate for day?

    ReplyDelete
  131. Yep, the double serge persimmon is the holy grail. The linen pencil in papaya is a similar colour and great price! I bought this one today. I am only buying things that can be returned from now on!

  135. That sale site is like a blessing and a curse! For days I've been teased with the promise of finally getting my hands on the large oslo in terracotta I've been stalking. When it does deign to show up on the website I get the not-fun red message about it being sold out, which then makes me think they put like 1 up for sale at 6am, since other times when I type in oslo a cotton cami comes up. Weird, I know. So this am I got to look for it for the 20th day in a row, and omg it's there!!! Score!!! And now for the curse part. I was so psyched I bought it right away, and then found a few items I didn't really need, but was so scared about things being yanked from my cart that I ended up doing 4 separate orders and only got free shipping on 2. Sigh. But the website was actually functional, so that was good.
There were Lulu peep toes in an 11 if anyone's interested.
And thanks to the posts last night about the shimmery python skirt I picked one up today - I hadn't even given it a second thought until it got JCA raves. How much do I love this blog? My credit card is pretty pissed at it, but I still love you all:)

    ReplyDelete
  136. I'd read all the comments about the double serge pencil skirt and thought it just *might* be overhyped. Then a week ago I tried one on at the madison ave B&M... well consider me converted! So soft, warm and such a great shape (although given that I posses, um, hips I sized up one size vs the size I'd wear in a full skirt but that's my standard operating procedure)... so this AM i scooped on up in my size in black and i just wanted to share the joy lol

  141. OK. I caved today. I resisted yesterday, but there were 2 acorn necklaces today (my sister has been wanting acorn jewelry). So, in order to get free shipping I got another Dream Tie Neck cardi in black (have lt. spearmint and LOVE it), Dream Open neck sweater in bright rhubarb (I've been wanting one) and two pairs of flip flops with the flowers...Oh well-and all so I could get that darned necklace for my sister. ReplyDelete
  148. *grumble grumble* I hate J Crew's shipping charges. But I'm going to pay them and then hope they can apply my student discount. But $8.50 in shipping expenses seems like a lot for a piece of jewelry that's $40....

    ReplyDelete
  149. I just hit a couple TJ Maxx stores in metro Detroit (Farmington and Livonia, for those in the area) and didn't see a single J Crew item at either. Boo!

    ReplyDelete
  150. Hey Lynzeroo, I agree - J.Crew should have flat-rate $7 shopping like so many other retailers!

btw, what did you end up doing with your CF astrid?

    ReplyDelete
  151. Oh, but thanks to sproutina who mentioned there was acorn jewelry on the website, I've been wanting that too!

  152. OT, but I saw about 7 pairs of Hunter "Fiesta" boots at the Marshall's in Aurora, IL. They had red & yellow. I don't remember all of the sizes, but they had a size 9 on Sunday. I was tempted to get a pair since they were only $29.99, but I already have a regular pair of Hunter's in Aubergine. I know J.Crew sells Hunter boots, so I thought there might be interested parties here. HTH someone!

    ReplyDelete
  153. La Belle Helene - I still have it and it still has the tags on. I'm willing to sell it to someone who wants it more, but so far that person hasn't come around. Oh well...I guess I'll have to keep it...shucks. ;)

I think I want an Astrid in the berry color now though too. Do you have that color. I love it! I wish I would have gotten it during the EXTRA30 promo though!

  156. Lynzeroo,
Oh yes, I have the boucle astrid in berry - that was my first Astrid :-) I liked that one so much I decided to also get the charcoal boucle astrid, and then when I had a chance to get the cascading flowers astrid, I went for it.

The berry astrid is such a good pink - it'll be a perfect spring jacket (it's minus-5 here today). I highly recommend it :-)

  157. First, a HUGE HUGE thank you to Anon at 3:46 yesterday who posted about the JCrew shoes at TJX. You are truly the best!! I went to 3 stores this morning, all north of Boston - Swampscott, Saugus, and the Peabody store. Nothing at the first two, but a TON of stuff at the Peabody store. I was so psyched, I grabbed one of their red bags and started throwing anything and everything in my size in it.

They had lulu heels. Oh yes. They had these highly coveted beauties in many sizes and colors. There were quite a few fleur suede peep toe heels (on website right now for $99), juliet heels, and a bunch of driving mocs. Also saw a peep toe mary jane in dark green patent leather and a pair of serengeti ballet flats. I apologize for not taking note of the styles and sizes, but there were a lot more. I had to put some back, but in the end came away with 6 pairs:

    3 lulu heels - 2 dark cloud size 5.5, 1 honey glaze size 6
2 fleur suede peep toe heels - 1 dark blue size 6, 1 dark yellow (warm marigold in JCrew speak) size 5
1 pair of collection heels size 6 with the lollipop bow - the fabric is a brown flower pattern and the bow has rhinestone strips

Another customer had some tulip and honey glaze lulus. There was still one in burnt sienna (size 9) when I left.

The ladies at the checkout thought I was crazy, and I was thinking THEY were crazy for selling these for so little. The price tag says "$19.99, compare at $40"...$40??!! To quote one Mr. Jim Cramer, "They know nothing!! They know NOTHING!!" ;)

A tip for anyone who is planning on going: most of the shoes are on one display table, but if you look on the main racks as well, you'll see more styles organized by size. Happy hunting!!

  160. While shopping several things were taken out of may basket! geesh louise I missed out on two purses. I did get a pair of cloth peep toes in Papaya and a layer necklace w/free shipping even though my order was less than 150$. I tried to find something else I wanted to make the order over 150 but when CS saw I was going to cancel the order she said thats ok. LOL I told her I felt like someone stole my shopping cart while I had my back turned. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  161. ^ anon -- when shopping during the morning restock, speed really pays! sometimes the restock is just a single return, so my strategy is to check out ASAP to snag a hot item. You have 20 minutes to update your order, so you can always add more later.
