  1. Thanks for the free shipping code Alexis. It would be great to hear that a JCA won the contest.

  2. A few posters yesterday were saying how frustrated they were because so many items on FS were listed, but OOS. Of course, JCrew has them available today, after the promo has ended. Just like the posters predicted. That kinds stinks.

  3. Would be nice if we would see a President's Day sale code!
    Wishful thinking I suppose.

  4. Alexis maybe a good post idea would be to discuss past seasonal items that we hope they'll bring back.
Mine for the summer are the headscarfs! You know the ones that are ruched in the back and have lots of fabric up front so you can wear a scarf on your head without the hassle of figuring out how to tie it, etc...
Another one is I hope they do some madras shorts! I know it's a staple of theirs, but considering they're trying to be more fashion foward, I don't know what staples they'll keep.r

  5. ^ I agree. I have a pair of basic black suede and leather wide-band slides with a lug sole that I've had for about 8 years. They are my favorite casual slip-on for summer. Would love to see those return in the same quality.

The madras shorts are great. I have a couple pairs, as well as two minis. They are really cute and the madras is so comfortable.

  6. They sure are pushing that tiered ruffle wedding dress! It would look great on any bride (as long as she's getting married while reclining on a white wall in the Greek Isles and has long wavy hair...).

  7. the dress does look really cute in that photo! probably not for me, but cute when marketed with the whole Greek isles thing : )

  8. How many brides say I do while splayed on a brick wall? But I will say that position is slendering because of the pull of gravity :-)

  9. The buckle on my crackle Mary Janes is broken already. I thought it was metal but it is just plastic and it cracked when I was dancing in the shoes and I wasn't going crazy or anything. I'm soooo disappointed! I have to go out now so I will call CS tomorrow to complain and see if I can return them. How ^&()%$# cheap! Its disgusting that they broke on the second wearing already. Good thing I didn't fall and break my neck. I have to say this is the last pair of shoes I will ever buy from them.

  10. To anyone who is still experiencing web issues with Jcrew -- specifically the the dreaded green screen, I've discovered if you disable Norton Internet Security on your system you will no longer get the green screen. Good luck!

  11. broken shoe - Are you sure the buckle is plastic? Because if you zoom in on the online picture it looks metal and it even states it in the description. If you are for sure correct that it's plastic then they misrepresented the product and you should easily return thme. However not one JCrew shoe that I own that has a buckle, is made out of plastic.

  12. Broken shoe-
Don't fret! I've had the strap on a pair of Penolope Mary Janes bust (while I was at a job interview!) after I bought them on final sale. I brought them to the store and the SA replaced them, plus she even adjusted the price to the currently lower selling price!

By the way, I think the dress looks amazing in this photo!! I want!

  13. That dress screams 70's pad commercial. I think they've gone a little ruffel mad over there.

  14. Broken Shoe,
Sorry about your crackles! I almost got them! But now I won't. Thanks for the heads up.

  15. Does anyone own the metallic lulus? Did you have to size up or down? Also, are they mostly for special occasions or everyday wear?

I know the other lulus run big. Thanks gals.

  16. Speaking of the mary jane crackles... I wear a 7.5 & 8 in JC shoes, what size do I need? I'm looking for some metallic pewter?

  17. I love my crackle mary janes. The buckle isn't plastic. I will admit you do need Dr Scholl's inserts to make all JC heels wearable for a full 8 hours on your feet. LOL

  18. I also have the crackle mary janes and the buckle looks metal but if you tap on it or the strap loop, you can tell by the dull sound that they are plastic that looks like metal. Can't remember what that is called, there is a name for the aggregate or whatever that is fake metal but that's what it is. It's not real metal. I love mine anyway but I'll be a bit more cautious now. Looks sturdy enough but you never know, considering it broke on someone else. After checking mine out today I am thinking the buckle and keeper are pretty cheap. Took a look at the sole and it is really cheap too. I would say the $79 selling price right now is spot on. Shipping charges notwithstanding.

  19. Broken shoe - I had to go check mine after reading these posts. Yep, the buckle is alloy, not metal. Should be strong enough to hold, you would think, that same plastic-y alloy is used for a lot of things including faucet handles and they see a lot of action.

Lynzeroo - I'm dismayed to read that your strap broke on a different shoe. The quality, or more appropriately, the lack thereof, on J.Crew shoes is getting to be too much. I used to love them so, but they are so darn cheap for not-cheap prices. :(

  20. ITA on the cheap quality of JC shoes, which is probably a reason all us JCA's are going crazy for JC shoes at TJ Maxx - the $19.99 prices are about what the shoes are worth! It's too bad because the designs are adorable and they *could* be fabulous, but it's lost on the poor execution.

  21. Slightly OT but there was discussion on another thread about Land's End and their consistently high quality cashmere and the ALL leather camel suede pumps on sale now for 29.50. Just a heads up that if you can wade through the dowdy items, LE is offering a 20% off everything promo code today only on the website, Promo COde LINCOLN and PIN 112447714. Brings the camel suded pumps down to 24! And BYW Mickey that website works!

  22. Thanks, anon 7:23 - LE has a really cute looking trench, too - for $95, which is what, $200 less than the JC version? I may give them a try.

  23. Anony, thanks for the LE code. Silver_Lining, that trench looks pretty good. I've found the styling to be more conservative at LE, meaning it isn't always as stylish and usually more basic. That trench looks nice and I like a basic trench anyway as I only wear them when it rains and then want to look decent and stay dry. I'm looking to add a light khaki trench to my collection. The JC version is an awful color for me so it's a pass regardless. This one looks like it will fill the bill and what a price!

    Have a wonderful day.

  24. Love the photo on this email...the dress is absolutely gorgeous! :)

  25. silver lining,
Land's End trenches are great. I don't need one but I want one! I will be good though:) Quality and great price are both there!
