Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. No visit for me. But I do have some shopping resolutions I'd really like to stick with:
    * Shop less but smarter (obviously).
    * Stick to a list of things I really want.
    * Really clean out closets and get rid of stuff I'm not 100% in love with.

    1. This is exactly what I need to do too! I gave away a lot of items in the Fall but then I went a little crazy with holiday shopping so my closets are busting at the seams again.

    2. Truer words were never spoken! Jan, I did the same thing. I refuse to buy hangers.

    3. That’s so funny, I made a mental note not to buy more hangers. Unfort the velvet ones break on me all the time.

    4. I’ve been trying not to buy hangers either lol. I switched to quite a few velvet hangers a year ago to try to fit more in (if it actually helps). @SuzHas, I haven’t had any break yet but I’ll have to be careful since you’ve had that.

    5. @Suz Has Not sure if your velvet hangers are from The Container Store but I haven't had issues with breakage.

    6. I’ve been getting them at Costco. I think a box of 35 is like $10

    2. @Chanie I only received one email too and I placed multiple orders. Maybe it was just one/account; if so, not sure why the option was made available on subsequent orders.

  3. Surprise - J Crew just sent me a "1/2 birthday" (meaning 6 mos. out) $10 off $10 coupon code. Weird, since I never got a code on my actual birthday. Anyway, it's good until 1/31. If there's nothing I want, I always send the kids small gifts for Valentines day!

  8. I have a few items I’m still eyeing (minimalist, huh). I know some JCAs have tried the lace button down with the cami. I know some people had issues with the cami but don’t remember details of fit and reviews are not definitive. I also don’t know if the lace is the same as the paperbag pants. I was thinking the hookup could be a fun dress alternative for me as my red set is with the tie neck top. (I must be going stir crazy.) the tall length could be just about full length with low shoes, the regular is about ankle length.

Also still wondering about the jacquard pants.

    Has anyone tried:
Tall tapered paper-bag pant in lace (or the regular length)
    Item AT618

    Classic-fit lace button-up top
    Item AU230
    Color: BLACK

Wide-leg pant in palm tree jacquard
    Item AQ776

    1. I liked those lace pants too, in a tall, but didn't buy - I've enough pants as it is.

I have the lace button up, bought with a $10 joy code + some crazy percent off + midnight overlap sale for $6.50 I like it, my husband loves it. It's pretty fitted, especially in the arms. I took my larger size, good thing I did. The lace is reasonably comfortable, but it is lace after all. The cami is OK, nothing special or awful. Fit fine in my larger size. It is separate from the blouse (just snaps to hold straps if you want), so you could wear your own. The cami may be a little short on you, but the length was fine for me. You can wear a skin-tone or narrow strap bra underneath, the lace hides it well. I wore with jeans and boots, and the blouse was not too dressy. The shape of the cami makes an almost western-style yoke pattern.

    2. Yeah I would only get the pants to go with the shirt for the most part. If they’re reasonable enough and fit well I’d do it more for a dressed up ensemble although both work separately and more casually.

I have tons of tanks but not even sure if I have any more camis. I was thinking of sizing up to the 6 since some of the 4s I tried in store were tight in the shoulders. Crazy in sleeveless I can wear 0 tops. Big muscles.

      Delete
    3. Well, I'm in the 6, so that would be way too big on you. It's not small in the shoulders, though the arms are slimmer than average. But my shoulders and arms are extremely muscular.

      Delete
    4. Ok, maybe I’d stick with the 4 then. My arms are muscular too. I hate when shirts are tight under the arms, that’s usually my problem. Would you be able to measure the width under the arms in the back for me? Then I’d compare to my other button downs

      Delete
    5. From arm pit to armpit at the seam I get 19 1/4". The upper arm taken straight across the shortest way is 6 1/4" There's stretch, but I measured without pulling at all, so I'm conservative.

      Delete
    6. Oh ok that is generous in size! Thank you!

    7. Suz, I ordered the lace top in royal blue and hoping I’ve ordered the correct size. I will
      Keep you posted.

    8. I bit the bullet and ordered the lace top in the 4 for myself and the 14 for my mom. It might be big on her but she has some shoulder mobility issues and a bigger chest (who doesn’t). She wanted the teak but that sold out.
I ordered the paperbag lace pants in the tall. That length should be just about full length with low heels or my flatforms...it said that tall was almost sold out so I hope the fit works and I hope the lace matches. I did a side by side comparison and it seems to but who knows.

  9. This pricing games are driving me nuts. We ordered some slippers for my kid and got a "wish we had enough message." Yesterday, other sizes were $22. Today his size is in stock...but it's full price, no discount. I wonder if they know. I was stalking a jacket which was $139 for a while but went back to full price the day my size came back in stock . . .

    1. If you get a cancellation, call and CS will match the price if the item# is the same.

    2. I actually had a problem doing that before the holidays. Such a as problem that I kept asking for a supervisor until it was finally escalated to someone that did it, but he did tell me they only do that within a certain (unspecified) time period. My argument was, how do you expect me to pay $60 on promo for pajamas that I had cancelled at $17.99? What do you mean they are now in stock in my size and you’ll no longer honor the price? I was quite incredulous.

      Delete
    3. @Cheritheberry, that is so weird. I got price matching on two items that were cancelled last August - a pair of velvet leggings and a cashmere sweater dress. I called CS, told the rep the order number of my cancelled item, and they placed the new order for me no problem. And not at one time, this was two separate events.

      Delete
    4. It is weird! Like everything else these days. The inconsistency drives me nuts!

      Delete
    5. P, I remember! I told them I knew multiple people who had it done in the same time period and encouraged them to review my own ordering history to see when it had been done in the past. They never answered my questions and I didn’t press or continue the correspondence after I received the email they were doing it.

  11. Happy New Year JCAs!

I just had an encounter with a male CS rep at the 1-800 number that left me scratching my head and wondering if they have moved their call center overseas and are using the same (ineffective) CS training program as Amazon.

In short, after receiving two pairs of impossibly small final sale leggings (the second order replicating the first, as the CS agent at that time convinced me that they must have been defective and to give it another try), I called to give them some "feedback." After listening to my comments, the CS rep apologized for "any inconvenience" and wished me a happy 2021. The end.

Needless to say, I don't think this bodes well for the company. Sigh.

    2. Thanks, Suz. I was sorry about your situation the other day. I've been there, too, back in the "hey day," and ended up taking a break from JC because of it. I do think they keep ample data and notes on customers, and I suspect that at a certain point, based on whatever formulas and numbers get spit out, they put a notation at the top of the account not to cede to any requests. Back in the Jenna and Marissa Webb days, c. 2010, I was briefly part of the group that got special promotions, gifts, etc., but my spending dropped along with the quality and I haven't really gotten any special treatment or favors since . . . I never got the $10 JOY codes that expired yesterday to work, and I didn't bother calling CS about it, as I figured the response would be no.

Instead of spending my time haggling with CS on two pairs of $8.83 leggings, I'll hope to find some slender 9 or 10 year old young lady to pass them along to, and I'll spend my time venting here instead, LOL! I appreciate the sympathy! This is probably just a blessing in disguise since there's nothing else I really want to buy except for dreamy joggers which, of course, are full price--$69.50. Talk about taking advantage . . .

I hope everyone is enjoying the first, hopefully hopeful weekend of 2021.

    3. Corey I’m sorry the leggings were that small. I ordered a pair of Lululemon joggers for my daughter and stupidly ordered from WEMADETOOMUCH which is final sale. I went by the size I have In an almost identical pair from a few years back and they’re too tight. Ironically theyre full price now but I’m stuck with $80 light gray joggers that are too tight on each of us and I almost considered just wearing them around the house but felt naked when I saw the rear view. Long story short, final sale stinks and it’s not just crew. I should have learned my lesson. I’m mad enough when it’s a $20 pair of pants. Sigh.

    4. Back in the day, Dear Leader had a List. People on the List received LUGGAGE and FANCY FRESH FRUIT BASKETS. There were special FRIENDS OF MICKY (discount) cards. If you weren't on the List but worked with a PersonalShopper, your PS would deny that the List existed. But, as they say in political circles, people talk. If you check the early years on this blog, you’ll find pictures of the luggage. I got an email from a woman I’d never heard of, who identified herself as my J.Crew Personal Shopper, and gave me a list (small L) of the wonderful things she could do for me - advance notice of promotions, invitations to shopping nights, stuff like that. I asked about a jacket that had featured in some editorial work but was not in stores. “That sold out privately weeks ago, we only made a few.” Asked what was required to get on the List (capital L). deny deny deny. Asked if she could send me the next season’s LookBook, which was rumored to be about to circulate. “Oh, no, that’s only for good customers.”. Oh, so there’s a list of Good Customers? oh, no, she didn’t say that.... I abstained from J.Crew for some time, and when I returned, seam allowances had shrunk, cute linings had vanished, tacky embellishments were everywhere, and the cashmere pilled. I can still find a few things that are for me, at a price i’m willing to pay or wait for, but it’s not - as they used to say - effortless.

    5. WFF, I remember the rumors of the secret list of "special" customers, ha. Also the luggage, and when J. Crew used to make their own lovely, expensive leather luggage. I'm also remembering one catalog, circa 1999-2000 with the most beautiful leather handbags, most were in the $200-$400 range and absolutely unaffordable for me at the time (and those were the days of no sales ever) but they were so gorgeous and (I think)made in Italy. sigh.

    8. As long as we're dishing, WFF . . .

I had a conversation in 2012 or so with my VPS, no longer with the company. This VPS was coincidentally also VPS to the highest spending customer that year. So yes, there was a List that was generated periodically ranking customers based on spending. And those customers got special treatment such as shopping when the stores were closed, etc., among other, sometimes eye-popping, perks. How much did one have to spend back then to be the #1 person on the list, you might ask? I was told $10,000 per month. My VPS said that this lady bought her entire family a new wardrobe "every season" from JCrew. I remember my reaction being one of incredulousness, because at the time, I would not have been able to find $10,000 worth of merchandise to buy at JC (and if I were spending $10,000 a month on merchandise, it certainly would not have been at JC).

Julie you bring up an interesting point that others might be able to weigh in on more precisely than I, but I distinctly remember that back in 2004, 2005 prices were relatively much higher. Blazers were in the upper $200s, weren't they? Dare I admit that I have 17 of them (I just counted) hanging in my closet now, a number of them acquired on EBay and PM when it became desperately clear that JC would never return to "the good old days"? Even with the relatively higher price, they were absolute bargains--such detail, such quality for a mall/catalog brand.

Even though the quality of the cashmere tanked after 2008/2009 or so, the quality around 2010 was still much better than today, and resellers seem to be well aware. Prices are now $70, $80 and up for cashmere tees from those years, which is a lot to spend for used JC cashmere that may still disappoint.

I continue to be very glad for this community and the conversations through the years and ups and downs, especially now that we all could use some distraction.

      Happy Sunday!

    9. MYGODDY thank you. I will try that.

    10. CORRY yes prices were higher! I have been shocked at seeing the prices I paid when I first became a regular jcrew shopper, around 2008. I feel like it’s really only been the past few years where we’ve been able to get clothing at what was formerly Gap clearance prices. I mean the fact that I’m now hesitating a pair of pants for $24? It’s crazy...but I think it really all went downhill especially when they made “FINAL SALE” a more regular part of the equation.

    11. I guess I might have been on the list and my experiences were as described by the others here. Anything ordered was shipped overnight free, shipping to me in Europe was super fast and yes there were fruit baskets, boxes of cookies, free shoe polish extra buttons sent overnight, knickknacks of small accessories to go with the nice Italian Handbags a couple of which were purchased, gift cards, invitations to Fashion Week, etc. Those were the days when just about everything was so well made and fit. Ballet flats by Porselli and of course the cashmere. I’ve got cashmere sweaters from the 90’s that are in perfect condition but I take extra care of all of my clothes. Alterations fast with no charge. The list goes on and on. When I saw something in the store years ago it was very effortless to burn through money there. It was like walking through a candy store. The visual displays were beautiful. Today it’s certainly not fun and I don’t spend anywhere near what I did years ago. The thrill is gone for me and I see for many others here. They should stick with the classics and the twist which they were known for. They sacrificed quality for crap. They should bring back Drakes, beautiful Ratti, the good merino wool, beautiful cotton shirts, the beautiful yet comfortable shoes and beautiful handbags. Remember the pet accessories, those too. I’ve said enough 😂

    12. So behind on posts. Suz - if you don't have luck with Lulu CS you might try selling them on Poshmark - in my experience Lululemon sells very fast there (esp NWT). I had the same jogger issue recently (wondering if they're the same style!) and I sold them in a few days on PM.

  13. We had two couples for a firepit/patio hang last night and I wore the lace up boots in croc embossed leather. Everyone complimented. One of the guys said they look like paratrooper boots, and the ladies liked the side zip aspect. The shaft height and stiff leather means they’re not super comfortable for walking but hopefully the leather will soften a little. I totally would have been fine (and warmer) wearing the Nordic boots but it was fun to switch it up.

  14. A belated Happy and Healthy New Year to all. Here is some unsettling news I received today. Jcrew is closing their Ft Lauderdale on the 23rd of this month. I’m not only shocked and saddened but downright furious. As I mentioned and recommended in many posts this is one of the greatest stores on every imaginable level. Kindest, most helpful staff with their knock out Josh who should be in their “ghost” catalog. Jason too, fabulous and between the two of them never steered me in the wrong direction. They have exquisite taste and are as good if not better than most females that walk into their store. They invited me and doggy into their store privately in fact always long before the pandemic. They made not only me but so many others feel so wonderful. I can’t express how grateful and honored to know them. The only store left now is the Boca one which I can’t stand as well as some of their employees. Snotty obnoxious and not helpful. The one young lady that worked there is no longer with them and I know why. Too nice period. Now there’s another rumor going around that the crew may be returning to Palm Beach Gardens. I took this rumor with a grain of salt, however it would be wonderful as all of their employees were fabulous. Great times with them.

It would be amazing if Palm Beach opened again, I visited it a few times and always loved it. Is Aventura still open? It wasn’t my favourite store for sure but it’s large and in a very nice mall.

    3. my favorite store closed some time ago. It was ill-fated to begin with - it had opened as the J.Crew Wedding Store By Appointment Only, and whoever had that stroke of genius had missed the key element of merchandising: brides want to be welcomed and fussed over, not told to go away and phone for an appointment. Then it became a Collection Store. It struggled, because the premises were tiny. There were many occasions where it felt like an indoor driveway sale - racks here, tables there... I liked it for all the wrong reasons - it was never crowded, the staff had plenty of time to call around to locate things, there was almost never a sense of bustle. In other words, no sense that sales were being made. Doomed.

    4. @yippee, beautiful store but not driving there. Only by boat. Busy Foreign shopping destination, they go in there and purchase items as if it’s Christmas every day. They’ll go in buy so much cashmere they’ll clean out the shelves. I was shocked. They then turn around and resell everything when they return. The company finally out limits some years. They never wait for sales😂

    5. @wellfedfred, terrible. What a shame. The district sales managers are responsible for this sounded like a loser. We had a manager some back and she was a detriment to the store and the wonderful employees. I sent numerous emails of complaints and made phone to corporate along with other customers. They finally booted but not before the district sales manager called. His mother also happened to be a long term employee of Jcrew. I guess something worked. The manager was terminated without notice shortly thereafter.

    6. @Jan, thank you so much Jan. Same to you again. Hope all is well with you. Aventura closed last year. So on Florida’s East coast there is Boca, Coral Gables and Miami. Nothing north of Boca except JAX
I’m going to call my stylist again and see what other locations they’re closing. She has a list. No mention of Palm Beach Gardens reopening though however she said you never know. I really don’t enjoy shopping for clothing in the internet. No joy in. I love connecting with sales people in store. There’s always something to look forward to even if only browsing. Take care and stay safe up there

    7. Lynn, thank you for the update! So sad to hear of so many closures. I used to go to Aventura on the way to the airport. We’ve been going to Marco Island for the past few years before the pandemic and I know they closed the Naples store. The only other store I can think of around there is Coconut Point which I used to drive to. I hope it’s still open. Agree with you that in store is so much better than online. I loved chatting with the SAs.

    8. @jan, more bad news news they’re closing another 20 stores. Fort Lauderdale was a shock to the manager but this closing is due to problems with the Mall owners. Neiman Marcus is out too. The Mall is so outdated and with upscale Boca, Coral Gables and Miami I suppose the company thinks this enough. Bad bad move if they don’t go back into Palm Beach Gardens. Their sales were far higher than Boca. In addition they are opening a few locations around the US. She read a list off but I was too busy drying my tears for everyone affected.

  16. How I Got My Husband back... Am so excited to share my testimony of a spell caster who brought my husband back to me. My husband and I have been married for about 6 years now. We were happily married with two kids, a boy and a girl. 3 months ago, I started to notice some strange behavior from him and a few weeks later I found out that my husband is seeing someone else. He started coming home late from work, he hardly cared about me or the kids anymore, Sometimes he goes out and doesn't even come back home for about 2-3 days. I did all I could to rectify this problem but all to no avail. I became very worried and needed help. As I was browsing through the Internet one day, I came across a website that suggested that Dr.Odu adebayo can help solve marital problems, restore broken relationships and so on. So, I felt I should give him a try. I contacted(WhatsApp) him and told him my problems and he told me what to do and I did it and he did a spell for me. 48 hours later, my husband came to me and apologized for the wrongs he did and promised never to do it again. Ever since then, everything has returned back to normal. My family are living together happily again.. All thanks to Dr.odu adebayo If you have any problem contact him and I guarantee you that he will help you. He will not disappoint you. you can WhatsApp him(+2347055287754)or Email him at : poweroflovespell@gmail.com.
