  1. Today I received the lady coat with velvet trim. I sized up to a 6 based on reviews and because my old lady day coat in red is a 4 and it’s super fitted through the shoulders. It’s still very fitted with a fit and flare cut. I happen to like this shape because it allows me to size up for my shoulders/back and still have a coat that looks fitted, unlike the more straight cuts that are huge through the waist.
I hate to be morbid but it’s a great funeral coat, or a coat to wear to sit outside at a cafe. I like having outfit coats. This is a good midweight, not as warm as the thinsulate version but not that thin.
The pockets are not great, but at least there is an inside pocket. Maybe they will hold a phone, but the placement for hands is awkward. I wish the buttons were more traditional gold crest buttons, although that might be a bit loud.
Overall I like it but I can see it not fitting anyone with a thick middle. The waist is fitted. I tried to see if I could button the belt in the back but it didn’t work. If unbottoned the ends of the belt tuck into the pockets. I don’t think it would be difficult to stitch the ends together on the sides if you didn’t want to worry about buttoning the belt. There are extra buttons too. I like the high neckline though it may not work with chunky turtlenecks.

Fwiw I think the buttons are the same, or coordinate with, the silk blend mockneck sweater.

    1. Are you talking about AT695? What color did you order? Is there velvet trim at the bottom? Some of the reviews state the website pics are inaccurate.

    2. @ Suz Has: Thanks for this review. I have been contemplating purchasing this coat, but with final sale, the size issue makes it risky. Even though I don't think I have really wide shoulders, I don't like the feeling of something grabbing me there when I put my arms forward. I am 5'3", 100 lbs., 34B, and am very slender in the middle (hips too). I was thinking a size 2, but then I wonder if a 4 would fit better. I have very skinny arms, so that's not an issue, but it's always the shoulders. I wear a 0 in the slim perfect shirt. With blazers, it can be either a 0 or a 2 because sizes are so inconsistent. Any advice?

    3. ST yes, and I ordered black, sorry! There is no velvet at the bottom which I anticipated from reading reviews. That doesn’t bother me at all. Since it’s black it’s not that noticeable and this way the velvet is just tonal anyway.

MmeJacqueline with blazers I’m a 4 or 6 lately. bottoms 24/25 jeans 00/0... because of working out. My torso is long and narrow, waist about 26 these days. I’m happy to measure but my guess is you would probably be fine with a 2. I will try this on over my usual heavy Everlane turtleneck and see if it fits. Some of my old size 4 coats barely fit through the shoulders over it. I can send you an IG pic if that helps and compare. Do you have any crew coats? I have almost always sized up in them even when I used to buy size 2 blazers which are now a little snug across my shoulders.

    4. So the size 6 fits comfortably over my heavy sweater in the shoulders. The bulk in the middle (from the sweater is a little noticeable when fully buttoned and belted, but not bad. My old size 4 lady coat is a bit more fitted but I’d say the sizes are relative, meaning that 4 would be like the 4 in this version.
      Hope this helps.

    5. Thank you for the reviews @suz. I tried the off white double breasted lady coat AT696 in size 2. My measurements are 5.7”, 125 lbs, 34-26-35. The fit was too boxy and off. The arms fit but was too loose on waist and hip. I was hoping to try the velvet trim one but it went on final sale.

    6. @kikigirl I don’t think you would like this either as I find the silhouettes similar. My measurements are comparable but I have a bigger booty I guess, not sure of my chest but I size up because of my athletic upper back and shoulders. I didn’t find the off white coat boxy, the waist is loose but the flare seems to balance my proportions. Of course I haven’t worn it yet but I tried it on today to compare with the velvet trimmed one.

    7. You have the double breasted off white one? I
Think I will skip this style. Thank you very much for your help. Saves me a final sale disappointment 😊

    8. Yes, I got it earlier in the season... 😜

    9. I should clarify that I was specifically looking for an off white coat that had a higher neckline. It checked off the boxes.

    10. I went to store. They had lady jacket in black on sale in size P6. Size works but length was of course too short. They had cashmere on sale for $43 in purple, green and pink colors.

    11. I am glad you able to get those coats on sale. They look beautiful.

    12. @kikigirl I tried the coats on again this morning over just a fitted tank on top. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t crazy with my descriptions.

I’d say the off white double breasted does run a little looser in the shoulders, arms and waist, but not much. The waist line on this is a little lower than the velvet trim one, so I could see it being awkward on someone short waisted/with long legs. The half belt thing that buttons in the front is a little awkward. It’s a little loose for the size of the coat. I may try it again and take it off, as the belt hangs below the waist line in the back, or maybe a tiny stitch to keep it in place. Below the waist does flare as I mentioned.

The velvet trimmed one is really lovely. The fit is very flattering. Because the waist is a little higher it creates a really nice line with the flare below the waist. It feels a little thicker when I’m wearing it than the double breasted one but it may be because it’s a little more fitted.

I’ll be honest, after this thread I was feeling a little guilty for getting both, but at the sale prices for this shape I am pleased. Since I dress fairly simply coats have become my “statement” and my black double cloth coat is almost ten years old. I admit I don’t love the fit of some of the more straight ones I’ve gotten, in comparison, but I’ve gotten compliments on all so it’s hard to get rid of any of them.

So I post this in all honesty, with no regrets!

    13. Thank you for honest review. I love this style too. The velvet one will probably be better because I have shorter torso. I will see if I can get size 4 and they waive final sale.

  2. Happy to report my Nordic boots shipped! Can’t wait to get them! Nordic parka in Crwqm shipped too. Happy for no promo! I been searching and buying too much! Lol
I may keep both the Nordic and crepe sole wedge boots. Just don’t think I have a need for 2 pairs! They were priced so well!! But 2 pairs idk 🤷‍♀️.... lol 😂

    1. Hi, I ordered the Nordic boots also - they are a little bulky and not sure if I am going to keep them but I haven't really given them a good try yet. But on the site, it says that they are faux fur. However even tho' the product label lists it as faux fur, on the black ones (I ordered black and cobblestone, not sure if I will keep one or none at this moment), there is a tag saying it is real fur from China. I haven't written yet to customer service. Try not to even wear leather most of the time but definitely wouldn't buy if real fur.

Love that this site is here! Just recently became a huge J. Crew fan. :)

    2. Huh, I never noticed, my black ones are a few years old. I will look at the tag though. I wore the black crepe sole ones from last year today and love them. I also love the black Nordic boots. And OMG I have cobblestone, pecan and the brown leather crepe sole coming. I have issues. 😆 but honestly I love them and it’s good to rotate, right. Right? 😜

    3. But that’s also the problem with sale. You never know if something will ship or cancel, so...I honestly didn’t expect them to ship. At least not all of them.

    4. @Suz Haz... you convincing me to keep both pairs!! Lol... I got the crepe sole and yet to wear and nordic will arrive Saturday! Maybe because they were so reasonable I am leaning towards keeping both! But will I wear and rotate ? 🤷‍♀️

    5. I have three pairs of the Nordic boots for the last two years, all at great prices. I've worn hiking boots since I was a kid, so I consider this look timeless. Besides they are crazy comfortable and warm. Just means I didn't need to buy boots this year, and won't for a few more years I hope.

Mine have shearling on the outer cuffs and synthetic fleece on the insides.

    6. Is the sole lined ? For my crepe sole I added ugg sole liners! Pretty comfy!

      Delete
    7. On the Nordic boot the insole is synthetic shearling. After a while that part packs down the most from walking on it, but still really cozy.

    8. @Suz Has: Thanks so much for the additional info. Most of my Crew coats are size 2, but I have a lady coat from a couple of years ago that I had to buy in a 4 because of the shoulders. I would definitely wear a turtleneck under the coat but maybe not a really bulky one. I appreciate your help!

    9. Thank you Pbanos!!! I do like the sole lined. Maybe that why I moved a liner in crepe sole wedge boot!

    10. Initially I was disappointed the crepe sole didn’t have the fur insole but I’ve been wearing them sockless and don’t even mind for a few blocks.

  3. One negative..,I did get the Willa Snake embossed boots and do not like them. The heel is nice, but the color is way more tan than I anticipated and the ankles are wide. I tried them with skinny jeans and it didn’t work at all.
In the pics the color looks brighter with variations from cream to tan and it looks much deeper in person. I’ll have to try with a few other things.

    1. Sorry they aren't to your liking. I have the leopard calf hair Willas and like them. They are a bit wide in the ankle, but I like that as it balances out my large calf. I've worn them under straight leg full length cords, with a skirt and tights, and with crop length 'boyfriend' fit jeans.

    2. The only way I could wear these is under full length wider leg pants. Tried all of the above (aside from tights) and didn’t like it. I may try to return. They’re much wider than sadies and other crew ankle boots I’ve tried.

  4. Received another package with
    Pullover hoodie in velour
    Item AT758
I ordered this in a medium and a pants in the Small which is basically a size up from my usual. It is baggy but fits similar to the model wearing the blue velour top and bottom (except a touch longer). I can tuck the top in slightly to give it a little shape as it’s quite wide. With ballet flats as a slipper alternative it’s cuter than I expected and super comfy.
Personally I wouldn't like it as much more fitted at least for my proportions.

  5. Anyone have any news on when the next promo might be? There were a couple of sale items I missed out on during the last one that are now back in stock but obviously, I don't want to purchase without a decent promo!

  6. @Ash, the 26th but they usually put some random items out before then as they have done recently

    1. Thanks Lynn! I must say, it feels super weird to go to the J.Crew site at the moment, with no promo advertised. Website kinda looks naked, lol.

    2. I think Lynn is talking about new arrivals, you’re talking about promos Ash.
It’s been awhile since we haven’t had a promo. Who knows. It is weird. Maybe they’re just finishing up all the orders from the past few weeks and need a reset before new arrivals are released, my guess is early next week and maybe it will coincide with new arrivals.

      Delete
    3. Yes, hopefully a promo will coincide with the new arrivals rollout next week. And I believe someone mentioned in another thread about J.Crew updating their systems - I wonder if they're also still in the process of sorting that out...

  7. OT but for all of you Liberty Print lovers Gucci has some bucket and baseball hats in the print. I’ve seen a few down here. They’re pretty pricey. Nordstrom has a couple online at $530.00. Down here they’re in Euros with a discount....They’re pretty true to size. I would like to see a more affordable version from Jcrew. I don’t care about the Gucci logo on their hat btw.
