  1. Happy New Year JCA's! Time to look ahead with hope and work towards a good 2021. Joy to all.

I'm 'at work' now, so not in my staying in NYE finery yet. But I plan to dress up as if I were going out to a party, because I can. This means high heels (black suede/patent). I wore my Collection hand-beaded mini on Christmas, but it's making a second appearance, this time with a black silk blouse and if I feel chilly a black velvet zip up jacket. Plus sheer stockings, I've always favored sheer stockings in defiance of the "no stockings except thick black tights" trend.

    1. I think the young women in my life wear sheers too! I haven’t been wearing skirts the past few winters but I’m a bare leg girl normally. Wish I could see your look. I’m so cold I’m not inspired to remove the fleece yet.

  3. Happy New Year to all too!

I am also going to get dressed up (to stay in with takeout sushi). It's cold and rainy here in NJ so for day, I'm going to wear jeans with a sequin top (brown/gold sequin sleeveless one from a few years back) with a sweater blazer, then for evening thinking pink sequin dress. Both are J Crew favorites and any excuse for sequins works for me =).

Wishing all the JCAs the best in 2021!

  4. I’m not loving anything just yet. A friend just told me to chat because her JOY code was applied to an order. SHE SENT ME THE CHAT BOX. I tried and they wouldn’t do it. I’m seriously shocked.
I’m so angry I tweeted asking jcrew why they are treating customers differently. I mean countless people here have said just ask and they’ll apply the codes. Not for me. I seriously think my account was flagged. I really can’t believe it.

    1. wow, that really is just crazy! Keep complaining.
I never even got one "joy" $10 postcard in any of my orders despite 8 or 9 orders in December alone. But I did get a catalog and one of those $50 off $150 cards. Weird.

    2. @Suz, try the phone instead, I do best with phone calls when I can do a little friendly talking & tone of voice works in my favor.

    3. I did, I’ve tried it all. I’m not kidding that I’m persona non grata.

    4. I am truly so sorry to hear all of this. I know how frustrating it can be. I recently had a hard time with them and had to keep asking for a supervisor who finally made a "one time exception". It was when a sale order was cancelled, and when the item came back in stock at full price they flat out refused to do a price adjustment. This was days after a few of the ladies here had gotten price adjustments on the velvet leggings. It stuck with me for days. I felt very undervalued and do not like having to fight over anything, let alone something as trivial as clothes.

  5. Happy New Year JCAs! What a crazy year for J Crew, and for everyone. Thanks to all here for all the helpful reviews and tips throughout the year. Almost every time I have a question about a J Crew item (new or vintage!) I can ask here and someone has it and can answer questions! I think that's just amazing. I've been using this board for so long, since at least 2008, wow. And lurking on it long before then. [My google login changed (itself) a few months ago that's why I'm not J Taylor anymore.]

Tonight I'm hoping to bust out my J Crew rose gold sequin pencil skirt, probably with a merino turtleneck or a cashmere crewneck bc it's cold and snowy here in Michigan.

I took advantage of the new promo this AM combined with CARDLOVE to order the foundry pant in tall, which I've been wanting to try. That's my last J Crew order for a while as I've committed myself to a no shopping January+February. (gulp.) Hope everyone has a wonderful New Year's Eve/Day!

  6. Happy NYE JCAs! I love hearing that some of you are still dressing up to stay home, your outfits sound lovely! I’m trying to convince myself to but with my young sons I’ll likely end up in something super comfy.

I’m thankful for all of you and this blog that have been bright spots in a very tough year. This is a great place to get our minds on something fun and light.
Here’s to 2021, may it bring us all joy and better days.

  7. Happy New Year’s Eve JCAs! I’m wearing an outfit inspired by Jenna. She wore a crisp button down under a black lace top on an episode of her new show and that’s exactly what I’m wearing today (I posted a pic on my insta).

Thank you to this community and all the lovely JCAs that post here (and Alexis for keeping the blog going). This is definitely a bright spot to my day!

Here’s to a lovely comeback for J crew fashion this year!

  8. Yep, happy new year to everyone!

In spite of JC's problems, and a steadily decreasing drop in my JC spending over the last 10 years (!!), my purchases are still predominantly JC -- there just haven't been other good substitutes.

So ditto: here's to best wishes for JC's future and a successful comeback from bankruptcy.

  9. Happy new year to all my JCA friends. No matter what happens with this brand, you all have been wonderful friends over the past—I don’t know I feel like close to ten years.
For those who have posted outfits I look forward to seeing them on IG. Maybe you will inspire me!

    1. Ugh I lost a post.

This morning I received AU013. Laceup boots in croc embossed leather. I was drawn to them because of the contrast between the laces/stitching, the leather and the sole and because they’re different for me. Aside from my Nordic boots and weather boots like bean boots I haven’t worn laceups for as long as I can remember. The color of these is darker than I expected, more like an espresso brown. The color combo looks good with a red sweater and jeans and even these burgundy coated AG jeans I got from rack. Depending on the texture black pants might be fine too. The leather is a little stiff but the fit was generous even with a thick wool sock in my smaller size. I think some reviewers said they ran small but not on me. Considering the junk out there with laceup boots these are very fair at the sale price and the croc embossing is enough to be different but still subtle enough. They keep disappearing and popping back so maybe someone else will get lucky.

    2. Glad you had a win with these! I'm too impatient for all those laces. Though I have fond memories of my 1990's black lace-ups with the chunky soles. I wore those boots until they fell apart, and then a little longer.

    3. Oh I noted in the lost post, there is a SIDE ZIP. I only knew this because maybe one reviewer mentioned it, it’s not noted anywhere in the description or in pics. Without the zipper I wouldn’t have ordered. Who has time for that?!

    4. I didn't know that, I might have bought a pair if I had realized!

    5. I know, that’s probably why they didn’t sell quicker.

  12. Happy New Year to all! I haven’t been able to post lately, they weren’t showing up, but even when I can’t post I’m still reading and enjoying the camaraderie and information. Lynn, when is this NJ meetup happening?!?

I went to my store after work today, Short Hills, and there was barely any merchandise. I have quite a bit coming in the mail and wasn’t looking to shop, but it was shocking. I really only use my store for returns, and what I saw was a reality check that crew may go online only to survive.

I’m currently in sweats, patterned tissue tneck, and Patagonia better sweater. Glad to be on the couch and ready to eat decadent takeout from wherever my son wants, or lobster tails that the mister brought home. Probably both.

  13. I have been having some posting issues today. I forced myself to put clothes AND makeup AND a necklace on.
Wearing old Madewell ex boyfriend black cotton shirt with gold stars, madwell faux leather paperbag pants, Stella McCartney gold sneak elyse with multicolored stars, alex mill black sweater blazer and old jcrew necklace with pearls and stones.

Daughter said, what’s up with this? 😆

It’s all comfy. I almost put on the jcrew sequin tee which is impossibly short, took the tags off, and realized even with the super high waisted pants it’s still too short. 😞

Started to make Brie fondue, and mushroom/truffle risotto but opted to start with the shrimp and crab nachos and we are TOTALLY DONE. DIDNT even finish the tray.

    I guess I’ll serve both tomorrow. 😆

    Happy new year all.

  14. Hi all, I have a $25 off of $150 code for Madewell that I am not going to use. It expires in just a few hours (midnight on Dec. 31). Hope someone is able to take advantage of it. Please post if you use it. Happy New Year! Code is DDN-DRVVDZ423T
